Earphones don't work.

First of all, my English is really bad. Really.
So ehm, all earphones don't work on my iPod. Most of them won't work at all, I don't hear anything. Some are.. water-ish. Really vague. Even my real iPod Earphones won't work, my Skullcandy, some cheap earphones.. Nothing. Is my iPod broken?
Edit: I have an iPod Touch 4G. 8GB. White.

Try inserting/removing a headphone plug a dozen times or so. Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack.. If still problem that indicates a problem with the headphone jack. Apple will only exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less.

  • My earphones don't work and they are brand new!

My brand new earphone don't work. What should I do?

First, make sure the plug is inserted all the way; it requires a lot of force to seat it. If you are sure it is seated take it to an Apple store for a warranty replacement.

In my ipodtouch(4th) when i changed my ios 5.1.1 to the new ios 6
The earphones and the speaker's channel right dosen't work What i have to do ?

Assuming the headphones work in another device/other earphone do not work in your device.
-Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack Insert/remove the headphone plug a dozen times or so
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Earphones don't work with ibook - please help

Hi. Had my ibook for a few months and absolutely love it. The thing is, when i plus the earphones in the listen to music, the sound only comes out in the left ear of the earphones. I tried about three different pairs to make sure!
Is this something to do with my settings or a fault I will need to get repaired through applecare?
    thanks if anyone can help

  • HT4623 Earphones don't work with iPad. Have used three different pair, all of which work with my IPhone.

I cannot get earphones to work with my IPad mini. Have tried the earphones that came with my iPhone as well as a Bose set and a cheapo set. Have brought IPad to Apple store where they blew out the port with pressured air which worked for a few days. Now we're back to the same problem.

Did you try to do a hard reset?
Press Sleep/Wake and Home button at the same time and hold them for 10 sec.
    It will reboot the iPad.
Still having the issue after this?
Did you try to hook it up to iTunes and do factory restore?
    Probably last resort...

  • Earphones don't work occasionally

Since upgrading to Lion, I've noticed on several occasions that when I plug in some earbuds into my MacBookPro, the sound stays on the speakers and never switches unless I reboot the laptop.  Has anyone else had this problem and do you know of a fix?

Your issue could be hardware related.  If you have Apple Care, call them.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • My earphones mic and volume buttons don't work ever since the iOS 8.1 update! Please help me. One discussion person says they bought a new pair and THEY don't work either. What do I do? I'm about to have a breakdown!

I rely heavily on my earphones because well... I'm lazy but they don't work. They work on my friend's iPhone who hasn't updated yet but I've updayed and the mic and volume buttons don't work. Please make a correct update!

Nope, still same problem. I did an install, didn't work. Then I completely removed my IDT driver, restarted, installed the driver, restarted, same problem.
When I troubleshoot my audio it always asks me which one to troubleshoot. It only works if I do one of the "Speakers / HP - IDT" but I don't know why it has so many devices listed with the same name.
Also, after I troubleshoot and I can hear audio, if I go to "Manage audio devices" it still shows that no audio device is installed, which is why the webinars won't work.

Your iPhone has a one year warranty even without buying AppleCare. As long as the problem wasn't caused by damage you caused (e.g. dropping, water, etc) it should be covered. The following may help: https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/

  • I just opened my new earphones and the volume buttons don't work! Help

I just used my iPhone 5s earphones the first time yesterday and the volume buttons don't work. I tried unplugging them and then plugging them in again and they still don't work. Also when I plug in any kind of earphones in my phone it doesn't completely go in, is that supposed to happen?

Never mind, I found out why it didn't work. Since my phone and earphones were new the earphones didn't plug in well. So when I plugged it into my mac it went all the way in and the buttons worked. When I plugged it back in my phone it went al the way in this time and the buttons worked.

    Hi Mr.Acevedo329!
I have an article here for you that can help you troubleshoot the issues you are experiencing. That article can be found right here:
iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1382
Specifically, you will want to take note of this section:
    The headphones don't work
If your iPod's headphones don't work or have static or garbled audio, try connecting them to any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, like the one on your computer. If the issue with the headphones persists, replace them. For an iPod under warranty, you can order a replacement online. Otherwise, check out the cool headphones at the Apple Online Store. If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

    What i can do?
    Many thanks for your help.
    Bye

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • Earpods don't work, but iphone still as warrenty.

I still have about 5 months of warrenty left on my iphone 5 and the earpods that came with my phone have stopped working. i can't still to my music unless if i move the cord  before the jack around. I was wondering if i could get them replaced? I heard you can get them replaced if you have warrenty on your phone. By the way I'm from Canada.

If they don't work then they will be replaced under your warranty unless you have caused damage to them.
Being in Canada your earphones will only speak Canadian English, eh.

  • Remote on apple earphones doesn't work with iPod Touch 4G :(

Hi I have two in-ear earphones, the Apple one and the V-Moda RRMT, the one with the remote similar to Apple's. I've heard volume control works with iPhone 3GS, and have tried both earphones in iPad and they both work. Recently I bought an iPod Touch 4 and found that the volume control of Apple works while V-Moda's doesn't. Since both earphones (presumably) uses the same tech to control the volume, my current thinking is there may just be a problem with the way I'm plugging in the V-Moda earphone. I've tried reseating it several times and I still haven't been able to resolve this issue.
After scouring the google and the v-moda site, I still couldn't find any definitive confirmation that iPod Touch 4 doesn't support V-Moda's volume control. I'd like to know if V-Moda's volume control is compatible with iPod Touch 4 or not, and also the possible reasons why they don't work together.
I was looking at the earphone jack earlier and I found that regular earphone jacks only have 2 bands, while earphones that connect to iOS devices have 3 bands, so I'm guessing the 3rd band is what Apple uses for all of the extra functionalities such as Mic, Play-Pause-Talk, and Volume Control. Upon further inspection I saw that the 3rd band is not wholly covered in iPod Touch 4, could it be that the input signal coming from the V-Moda remote isn't strong enough to be received by the earphone jack of iPod touch because it doesn't fully encircle the third band? Any clarification on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried turning your iPod off and back on? My son wasn't able to see the AirPlay icon until he did that. He has a 4G Touch and I have a 3G, but we still don't have AirPlay working correctly. It connects and disconnects randomly, but we are able to see the icon most of the time.
