Earpiece and speaker malfunction

I have a Lumia 920 and for the second time in 2 months the earpiece and speaker have suddenly stopped working. No sound or even alerts are being sounded.

dude, just got off chat with att. they are sending me a new phone. I guess there is a 2 year warranty with this device. fwiw, this is my second phone...the first died on impact with a concrete curb

I purchased a Red Passport from ShopBlackberry only a month ago and the ear piece and speaker are both crackling at medium - high volume. C1-02 Sound heard from Earpiece and Speaker both e...

I recently bought C1-02 with FW 3.40, later I updated to FW 5.40. The problem is that the sound from Earpiece is being heard from back speaker also, without turning the speaker ON.
If I turn ON the speaker, there is no difference. When I play music from Speaker, its even heard from the earpiece.
Is this a flaw in the c1-02 model or firmware or just my phone?
If the flaw is in the model, Will there be a firmware update to fix this issue or is this a hardware flaw?

Sounds like a problem in your phone, it's definitely not a model issue.

If you've tried everything mentioned you probably have a failed earpiece. One option is to get a BlueTooth headset and use it for all calls. It will be cheaper than the $199 out-of-warranty replacement price from Apple (if it's still in warranty or AppleCare it will be free). Good BT headsets can be had for around $40. And it will hold you over until the Next New Thing from Apple is available

Sound Coming Through Earpiece and No Speaker

Has anyone else had this issue? Sometimes the sound switches from the speaker to the earpiece and the only way to get the sound to come out of the speaker again is to reset the phone. I've tried plugging in headphones and removing them but the sound goes from earpiece to headphones and then back to earpiece after I remove the headphones. The only solution? Reset/reboot the phone.

I have the same issue! The speaker of the new iPhone4S, out of the blue stopped working! No sound comes out of it unless you use a headphone.
I read a thousand posts and online forums and its not the problem of the audio jack.
I tried to reset and restore, and not success. I tried all the crazy ideas as turning off wifi and bluetooth and no success.
The phone never fell on the floor, I use it very little, and I take super care of the phone....
Sometimes I hear a strange noise like a interferrence noise comming out of the "not working speaker", but nothing other than that and its random when it occurs.
My last option is to send it for repair.... but WHAT IS GOING ON with the APPLE products ???

If you use eabuds or headphones on occasion, try inserting and removing the earbuds/headphones several times in a row.

Speaker Malfunction, Unable to End Call

I am currently on my second Q10. My first Q10 was sent in for repairs and I was given a replacement nearly 3 weeks later. My current replacement constantly drops calls, will not ring for calls/texts/email, speaker will not work at all (late to work today becuse my alarm didn't ring?), and when I end a call the phone will freeze and I have no option but to reboot. I work in a business where I am dependent heavily on my phone, and have already lost $2000 worth of frustrated clients.
I cannot afford to wait another 2 weeks for Fido to send my phone in. I live in KW and proudly support Blackberry, having gone to UW I have seen first hand how valuable BB is to our community. I have already tried factory restoring my phone twice. Please advise.

There is probably a red light on inside your headphone port, indicating that the analog/digital switch in there is stuck in the digital position. Insert a headphone plug and wigle it around, especially in the horizontal plane, as you insert and remove it several times. This will usually unstick the switch and restore normal operation. If it doesn't, the machine will need to be repaired.
This has been a fairly common problem, but in most cases it is easily cured as described above.

FCP Problem with Firewire output to external monitor and speaker ???Help

i have a g5 powermac. the problem is when using Final cut pro 4hd. when i output my work through firewire to my external monitor and speaker i have a problem with the audio signal. Theres feedback/noise/hiss from the speakers. The firewire connects to DSR-11 vtr deck which feeds my monitor and speakers. it only happens when in FCP is set to A/V firewire output. does not happen if Video output is not set to firewire.
I Diagnosis is that it is not my dsr-11 deck or firewire i've ruled those out. The problem is either FCP software or Hardware problem with my G5

From the firewire that feeds the dsr-11. on the output, i use s-video cable to my monitor (sony pvm-14l) and High Quality rca cables thet feed the audio to the Roland Speakers.
I've changed all wires and still have audio problem. I,ve changed my Dsr-11 deck to my camcorder and still have the problem.
If any of u guys use FCP The problem happens When I select view> external Monitor > and select firewire for Audio/ and video. I have never changed my editing habits, something just went wrong with the signal, I think its a Hardware problem with the firewire connection. I'm Going to have to bring this to a Apple Service Center In my local area one day.

Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

Problem with wired headsets is that there is not std for mic in headsets so if its not 100 % made for iphones it will not work

VOLUME and SPEAKER PHONE

I had to return my 8GB Iphone yesterday as the volume on the handset and speaker phone was absolutely poor! I need my phone for BUSINESS and not being able to hear is a large issue for me. The Apple salespeople at the store tried to keep me quiet and hushed me to the back for the return. I was by no means causing a scene just wanted to return it. The Apple techs and salespeople acknowledged the problem and said it has been the reason for most of the returns and were not sure of any updates. When the Store Manager came over to give me a credit he didnt speak one word to me. Sorta Rude...
I compared it to my Blackberry Curve and there is NO comparison of the headset volume or Speaker phone volume.
I am so dissapointed but will try generation 2 when it comes out! The Iphone is a great phone but Apple HAS to figure out the quirks and bugs.
For all you critics it is a Great phone and has some great tools and features but it is a PHONE and my MAIN purpose is to talk on it! And when you cant hear then their is a TRUE ISSUE. And yes I took the plastic off too.
I hope Apple gets this solved. As I would consider re-buying!

Of course most believe it is a solvable issue. The problem is that for those of us that need to use this for the phone feature the majority of the time, volume is an absolute neccesity. The 14 day return period is running out and some of us do not have the luxury of having more than one cell phone that we can use for the phone purpose until the issue is resolved. Any why should anyone expect one to do that? The phone was $650 with tax, then $80 a month for something you cannot use daily, is truly asking a bit much unless you have money to burn.
I'm not knocking the iPhone, I think it is a great item, but as a phone, it needs to have appropriate volume. And if Apple is not talking and releasing a statement about it, why should anyone wait around for something that may or may not be fixed in the very near future or even how long 'very near' may be?.... Especially when you cannot even get two Apple reps to acknowledge their is an issue with the volume?

On my year old MacBook Pro all web links in Firefox and elsewhere malfunction under Yosemite. They open a new tab and appear to connect to incorrect web addresses where no content is displayed; that is, if pressing the link will generate any action at all. At present if a link appears as an address one could, of course, labouriously go old school: the addy can be copied, a new tab opened, the address pasted in, then hit return, and wait. If the link appears as a topic or subject in proxy for the address, i.e. no visible web address, the copy/cut/paste method will not work, therefore, the additional information sought at the link is lost to the viewer. Thanks for the suggestion. I interpreted that you meant a new user for the OS X 10.10 (the MacBook Pro), so I went to preferences and created a new user in "Users & Groups." The system automatically established that new user as my iCloud persona, including my indelible e-mail address [email protected]. It's not what I would have established had I known what would happen, but it exists, so that's Reality. So, moving forward, the new user approach was not a successful resolve for the the inability to click links, and, thereby, be taken to the 'Link" represented site.
