Earpiece not working-no speakerphone option

Hey there,
Yesterday my phone started acting weird...
BB Curve 8330 from Verizon.
When I get or make a call, I can hear nothing, and the other person cannot hear me at all. During the call, I press MENU and there is no speakerphone option? That part was very confusing.
Finally, when I plug in my headphones that came with it i can hear and can be heard.
I was playing with bluetooth and my laptop yesterday, but have disabled BT on my phone...could this be a problem? does it think I have a wireless headset activated?

Welcome to the forums
First thing to try is a Battery Pull:
1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

    Right after I updated to Web OS 1.3.1 my Earpiece stopped working, and this is not related to the headset issue that many people have had problems with.  While making calls I cannot hear anything unless I use speakerphone.  The phone is working fine other than the earpiece not outputting any sound.
    This is NOT a problem with the phone thinking a headset jack is plugged in (believe me, I've had that problem too) as the phone Icon is shown (and not the headset ICON - when that had been a problem) when making calls.
    Has anyone else experienced this?   Any solutions?

    I was having the same problem. I read this post: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=webossoftware&message.id=11306&query.id=132362#M1..., took a "Safeway Cotton Swab", cut it in half, jammed the non-cotton end down the headset plug, moved it around for about five seconds, took it out, and was back in business.
    It is a weird coincidence that I didn't start having the problem until after downloading the 1.3.1 update. But the low-tech Q-tip method solved the problem for me.

    5. Try another location with better signal. If the audio issue happens only when on a call, it could be due to the location.

  • IPhone 6 Plus mic/earpiec not working.

    A tiny drop of water went down into my earpiece 2 weeks ago and i kept sucking out the water and i left it over night in a bag of rice. The next day the earpiece was working perfectly fine but the mic for the front facing camera, facetime, siri and voice dictation is not working. Every time i try to take a video using the front facing camera all what i hear is a muffling sound. Is this an earpiece issue? Should i change the earpiece? IS there a mic inside the earpiece?

So, that makes my iPhone 6 Plus, my girls iPhone 6 and my fathers iPhone 5S not flashing LED on messages and sometimes calls. There aren't any custom vibrations enabled on any if the devices. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it a known bug or am I just not doing something right here? i never had an issue before the iOS 8 release. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Iphone 5 - Not working and usual options are not correcting the issue

    My iPhone 5 will not start.  I have tried many options listed on this site, however I have been unsuccesful in resolving the issue myself.
    This is an issue that I had last May, which resolved itself after 2 or 3 weeks.  I was discussing this with Apple support but got no answer on how to fix it.  As it 'self fixed' (i.e. I did not do anything new that I was not trying for 2-3 weeks already and the phone just began operating normally) I guessed it was fixed so I stopped looking for a solution to a problem that did not exist any more.
    However, the problem started again last week. 
    That is to say, the iphone powered down and could not be restarted immediately.  I used the 'hard start' option which worked a couple of times, but now it will not restart.  During an 'up' period, I upgraded the software to the lastest public release thinking that this might help.  However, it has not.
    Now, I only get a visual of the USB cord and a message to connect to itunes.  When I connect to itunes it does not recognize the phone but does recognize that there is a software error.  When I try to restore, it does not work as it brings me back to the error message.
    Anyone any ideas?  I am trying to organise the final pieces of my wedding in 6 weeks and I really need the phone to work right now! I will be contacting apple directly in the mean time, but if anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.

  • Earpiece not working properly in n82

    I have a black n82 which i have been using for last 5 months. Recently i have noticed that the earpiece is not working properly whenever i get a call or make a call it becomes mute for a minute or two and automatically starts working . Though everything is fine when i use headphones or the side speakers. I have tried blowing air in the earpiece bt in vain. last month i had updated the firmware and looks like this problem has occured after that only so not sure whether its  hardware related or s/w related.
    Any suggestions ??

    Here the solution:
    Be careful, is very important to have a good policy zip file from Sun's web site
    If the zip do not contain exactly
    1 folder  jce
    All other files in the folder jce
    That will not work !
    For example, if you zip contain all file directly in the zip, without the jce folder, you sapinst will not start.
    In fact, my jce zip folder was not like jce the zip folder on Sun's web site..

  • Q10 earpiece not working

    Has anyone else had a problem or issue with their earpiece on the Q10 not working at all. I can make phone calls but only on speaker phone, or through the headphone jack. Phone hasn't been put in water or anything else, just stopped working one day last week.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
    Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
    BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
    See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • Install question- blur tool not working and guided option doesn't show a menu

    I bought and dowloaded PSE11.  However, I don't think I disabled my virusware.  It took an especially long time to download and I don't know if it downloaded correctly.  My blur tool does not work and my "guided" options are not there.  What is the easiest fix- unistall and remove the serial number then reistall using same serial number?  My question with this is- how many times can I do this, and or is there an easier fix?  I have PSE11 and LR4 and I am going back and forth between which one to use.  I really need all the options to work from PSE11.  I am not a great IT person so I need the answer in basic easy language to understand please:-)

    The blur tool doesn't do much under the best of circumstances, so it may be working and just not making enough of a difference to see. However, for the problem with guided edit, reinstalling is probably the easiest solution at this point. Activation is tied to your hardware so you don't need to deactivate PSE if you don't want to, but it won't hurt to deactivate it. There is a limit, but for reinstalls on the same machine it's unlikely you'd ever get there, and if by some chance you did, you just contact activation support to reset things.

  • Microphone not working with speakerphone

    I recently purchased a iPhone 4 which is pre-owned.  I soon discovered that the microphone is not working when ever I'm using speakerphone. 
    The microphone works fine otherwise and I can hear the call fine when in speakerphone mode.  The problem is only with the microphone not working while in speakerphone mode.  Based on some initial Google searches, I can see this is a relatively common issue on iPhones (4 & 4s models) but have not seen a way to resolve.  Please help me resolve.

    This may be relevant. I've been getting warnings "Device storage almost full" recently - even though I have an SD card that is almost empty. I suppose the device doesn't know to automatically use that for any downloaded/photos, etc.
    In any case, I made some room, but is it possible that "core" stuff may have been overwritten (obviously some kind of s/w bug if so). How likely would this scenario be? I realize that anything is possible, including a meteor strike - but I was curious whether this is something that is "realitiscally" likely with the current BB OS.
    Also, if I back up my data, do an OS reload, and then restore my data - is there a chance that the problem might come back? (given that the data I will back up now will have "more space" than when the warnings started coming, since I deleted some stuff).

    I was using my headphones, they worked perfectly. Now no sound plays through the left earpiece. They are good headphones, they work in my iPod. Any ideas? I have tried reseting, powering down...

    Have you tried testing a different pair of headphones with the iPhone? If so, did the left earpiece work? If the left earpiece is still not working on a different set of headphones, there may be a problem with the audio jack on the iPhone. You can set up an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple Retail Store to have your iPhone evaluated, or you can call AppleCare at 1-800-MY-IPHONE.

  • Iphone 3G 2.2 earpiece not working HELP PLEASE

    Hi, suddenly my iphone earpiece it´s not giving me sound. When I recieve a call people can hear, but I can´t. Also with the voicemail, I have to use the head phones, or the bluetooh. The only way to speak in a conversation with out the head phones it´s to use it in speaker mode. I have tried everything, plug and unplugged many times the headphones (it recognize the it doesn´t have it because when I put it out it says ringer and no headphones ringer in the iphone when I change the volume). The ipod part is working correctly, when I recieve a call or make a call, it stops. The mic is working fine.
    Can somebody help me to find where can be the problem? I already reset it, two times, try the plug and unplugged thing, clean the jack trail

    No, I restore the phone to factory setting already, I didn´t make the back up, I put as a new iphone, and try to use it with no extra apps, and still not working, how does this part can get damage and everything still working correctly?, I still using it as a phone with the headphones when I not alone and with the speaker when nobody is around, I don´t have an apple store near me, so I have to send it to them by mail, so, I want to do everything I can before to do that.

    Well actually, if you really performed the impossible as you stated "formatted the laptop" how could anything work?
    One can format and partition a hard disk which is a component of a laptop. Without reinstallation of an OS how can anything work?
    Please restate in clearer terms what you did to which component to achieve nothing working.
    Identify your notebook in more concise terms than just the series number from the front. Turn your notebook over and look at the tag. Post all but the serial number from the barcoded tag.

  • Brand new iPhone 4 earpiece not working

    Hi all,
    I bought a fully unlocked iPhone 4 a few days back, I din't have a micro sim so I waited till today to activate the phone, I was checking the phone and found that earpiece is not working, I mean, I'm not able to hear anything on call, Calls through speaker phone is working and calls through earphones are also working, but the earpiece doesn't work, My phone is under warranty but the nearest Apple service center is 5hrs away from my place, just wanted to know if it's a software glitch or hardware problem.

    If the device is in fact new, it is highly unlikely that it is running iOS 4.3.1.
    Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.
    Upgrading to the current version of iOS would also be a good thing to try.
    If none of that resolves the issue, then it is hardware related.
    Either return to the place of purchase for exchange (since you should still be within the return/exchange period) or take it to Apple.
