  • Losing server connection specific ip-adress

    Hello,
Several times a day I loose connection to one specific server in our network from specifically my MacMini. Suddenly it looks like the machine does not exist on its ip-adress or any name it has on our DNS-server. All connections are suddenly lost.
But the machine is still there for all other machines in the network. Also I have no problems accessing the machine on one of the other IP-adresses it has, just as I have no problem with any other machine. It seems linked to that specific address 192.168.34.97 and specifically from my MacMini.
After a quick 'sudo ifconfig en0 down' and 'sudo ifconfig en0 up' I can reach the machine again as if nothing happened.
Anyone a clue? as it starts to become really annoying.
I have this problem now since 10.6.0 and it seems to be getting worse.
I have done a fresh install of the os since but with my account and data restored from timemachine.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind regards, Martin
p.s. I have my a static IP on my macmini, and VMware Fusion installed.

I'll try that netstat, soon as I loose connection (just piped it the current situation to a textfile).
When I loose connection with that server, I can still contact all other machines in the network.
I just removed all but one entry to that server from my DNS table on the DNS server (and the associated reverse lookup records).
When I do a tracertoute I am at my server the first hop.
Here the dumps of netstat -nr with and without connection.
    The problem-server is 192.168.34.97
Thanks for reading and thinking along.

  • Error in creating new DB Server connection for DB2 in Websphere 5.1.2

while creating a new DB Server connection from Websphere Application Developer 5.1.2.
    I am using
Vendor Type: DB2 Universal Database v8.1
JDBC Driver: IBM DB2 Universal Driver
It need host name, port, Database name, userid, password to be specified.
But, a connection can be established fine, if I am trying it from a simple Java program with JDBC with the exactly same parameters.
However I am able to create a new DB server connection using APP Driver
    i.e.
vendor type as "DB2 Universal Database Express v8.1" and Driver as "IBM DB2 APP DRIVER". No host name or port need to be specified in this case.
But, if the database is in different machine then it will be a problem.

    Caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused

  • MacBook to iMac server connection

I have been connecting my Macbook to my iMac successfully via server connection for years.
After installing SL on my Macbook I cannot connect to my iMac (still has 10.5.8 on it) anymore. I can see my iMac in the sidebar in Finder but, but somehow it does not establish a connection anymore (error: connection failed)
Interestingly, from my iMac I have no problems to connect to my Macbook at all.
    I have done the usual:
Restart, Permissions repair, HD only half full, log out / in from file sharing, checked shared folder user permission).
Anyone has a solution to this problem?
    RH

Rodney, I figured it out. A few weeks ago my wife had some keychain issues I was not able to resolve right away. To keep her happy (until I have time to change the settings) I changed the Firewall from "set access to specific services .." to "allow only essential services". I just recalled this, and switching back to the former firewall setting which did solve this server problem.
Thanks again for your voodoo (it got me thinking again about the keychain issue and what I did at that time).
    All the best

  • Dedicated Server Connection Vs Shared Server Connection

    Hi Gurus,
I have few doubts regarding Dedicated Server Connection Vs Shared Server Connection -
    1) How do I know which connection mechanism is configured in my system.
    2) Which connection faster and reliable.
    3) Is there any risk to using shared server connection?
    4) Which concept is new comparatively?
    5) It is possible to restrict specific user for Dedicated Server Connection and other for Shared Server Connection in a same database.

    2) It is possible to restrict specific user for Dedicated Server Connection and other for Shared Server Connection in a same database. You might be able to do something like this by using the RULE parameter with cman, limiting specific users (via local security setups) to specific client IP's and forcing them to particular service names. This is a net services issue, so does not conflict with what Billy said. It assumes you control whether your users will query the db appropriately, too. Many apps don't do that right.

  • Com.essbase.eas.essbase.defs.ServerCommands.Connect - Session timeout

    Hello,
I set essabse as a cluster on 2 win 2008 64 bit server (active, passive), EAS console runs on both servers as actvie active, we set a loadblanace infront of those 2 server to have EAS loadbalanced
if I do accsess EAS directly to the server http://<hostA>:10080/easconsole/console.html or http://<hostB>:10080/easconsole/console.html all works fine
As soon I am using domain name and go though loadbalance http://<domainname>:10080/easconsole/console.html I am getting the errror below:
com.essbase.eas.essbase.defs.ServerCommands.Connect     February 12, 2013 2:56:51 PM EST     Session timeout     Failed : -1 Your session is not currently authenticated. Please log in.
    EAS version: 11.1.2.2.1

Is it the web console, I take it you are using a http server such as OHS in front of the EAS WebLogic cluster, if so does it work through the http server or is still the same, how are sessions handled on the load balancer are they set up as sticky.
    Cheers

  • How to find the database details from server audit specification with successfull login group?

    Hi,
We have created a server audit for successfull logins. When we read the audit file using
sys.fn_get_audit_file we find that all the fields related to the databases
ie database_principal_id,database_principal_name,database_name are either 0 or null.
Is there a method to find out to which database the login is accessing from the server
audit specification of successfull login group.Although the logins are reading and writing
data to the databases why there are no details of the databases?
    Thanking you in advance,
    Binny Mathew

    Hello Binny,
The logins are used to connect to the instance and the access to the databases is performed via database users. So, once you connect to the instance via your login, the server level audit takes this action, records it, but without caring to which databases
you want to connect after that.
Unfortunately there is no similar action group on the database audit specifications, that can track which user connected to the DB, except if you are using contained databases in SQL 2012.
Probably you can share why you need such information and if there is something else specific that you wish to achieve, so we can propose a different solution/audit configuration.

  • Losing Server Connections

Since installing Mavericks, I lose contact with the server at least once a day. Very rarely happened in earlier versions of OSX. The set up is this: I have two workstations, A and B. Station A has the server connected to it. Station B has the back up drive connected to it. Station B is my workstation. Happens most often when I'm using InDesign - an Adobe app. But that's not surprising since I spent 85% of my day using ID. The worst part is that when I lose the connection, all the folders in my sidebar go away and I have to manually add them back every time. These are folders I access every day and need handy. A real pain. Anyone know of a setting or configuration that may help reduce losing contact with server? Both macs are imacs. One is maybe two years old, the other 4 years old.

    Hi,
In this case a Server is normally something that distributes (Serves) an Internet Connection onwards to several other devices.
A modem can be a cable modem and not specifically serve as such and a router is needed behind that to "serve the LAN" as it were.
More specifically a Router or routing device such as a modem that routes will have a DHCP Server that automatically dishes out IP addresses (numbers) to the computers and other devices attached.
In Most devices the DHCP server can be turned Off but then the Computers have to be set to Static IPs (Manually in the Mac Network Preferences).
It takes very small breaks in service either in the routing device itself or from the ISP for iChat to notice.
Although most people think off Mail and Web Browsing to be Always On they only use the Connection intermittently when you get or send mail or change a web page.
iChat is communicating with the AIM Servers (Or Jabber/GoogleTalk) all the time so that you get a instant update to your Buddy list when people come and go Off line.

Thanks for your answers and questions.
Here are the answers to your questions
1)The jdbc driver is jturboJTurbo? Never heard of it. You mean this?
    http://www.newatlanta.com/products/jturbo/index.jsp
Why pay for something when you have two options available that are free? One of them is from Microsoft itself. Whose idea was this?
    2)It's a desk top application.
It seems to me that it should not be driver issue. I was this happened the Microsoft's own jdbc driver. By jdbc specification, although you don't close the connection explicitly in the program, the connection will be automatically closed in the java app end during garbage collection. Very bad - never depend on this. Always close your ResultSet, Statement, and Connection in reverse order of opening in a finally block, each one wrapped in individual try/catch blocks.
One should never, ever depend on the GC to take care of resources like database connections or resource handles. Those should be cleaned up by your code.
I tested this by intentionally not closing a connection. When I stops the application, the connection in the sql server end was also closed.
But if you don't close the application and fail to close connections, you can see where eventually you'll exhaust the pool.
It seems to me this is a sql server issue rather than a jdbc driver issue. I need way to prove this.
Like I suggested, it's easy to swap in the jTDS driver and try it again. What do you have to lose?
Or call Microsoft support and ask them. Or maybe JTurbo. You're paying for it - might as well use the support.

  • Wrt160n connection specific dns suffix

I have a WRT160N router that has been working great until I switched to a new ISP. The router configurations stayed the same, I just switched from a DSL modem to a cable modem (Motorola SB5100). The problem is the "connection specific DNS suffix" is being appended to the computer names and returning an incorrect IP address. Internet access is working fine. It appears that the DHCP is allowing the DNS suffix from the modem to push through to the DHCP clients.

Sorry about the misleading computer name, I'm not using a server for my DHCP. I'm using the router (WRT160N) as the DHCP server. This is just a home setup with 4-6 computers networked together. I use file sharing with the computer I call "home-server".  I use RDP to connect to the other computers. Now when I try to connect to another computer with just the computer name, the remote desktop fails to find the client. If I RDP the client computer with the IP address it connects, no problem.

  • Timed out and losing server connections.

    Hey
for the past month i have been having problems using Ichat. I seem to be constantly timed out or lose server connections. I'm not very technical so sometimes looking at computer jargon makes my brain fuzzy!
I have changed the port to 443 and its still happening. I have a belkin router and BT is my isp.
It worked fine before (besides having to have a few attempts at voice connections before finally getting there)
It seems to drop connection often and its the whole net usage that is affected, it seems to drop then reboot itself and when logged on to ichat i have to manually sign out and back in again, then i get the message saying i'm connected in more than one location.
Last night it happened roughly 20 times in a three hour period, yet this morning its only happened on a few occasions.
I'm not totally sure what version i am using (like i said i'm a technophobe) all i know is my macbook is a year old. Nobody else uses the internet other than me.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Any help would be great.

    Hi,
In this case a Server is normally something that distributes (Serves) an Internet Connection onwards to several other devices.

  • Server Connection Problem - connecting to ePrint

Hi,  I've just purchased a new HP Photosmart 5515 printer.  I've connected it to my PC over wireless successfully. My PC is fully connected to the internet.  There is no network involved. I cannot get the ePrint function working.  When I select the ePrint button on the printer I get the following message - 'Server Connection Error'.  I am requested to 'Enter Proxy'.  I cannot fing any instruction how to set proxy seettings to get this operational.  Could you please assist me with this problem.  Many thanks

    I hope you are doing well and welcome to the HP forum;
In order to take advantage of all the features the ePrint service has to offer, your ePrint-enabled HP printer must be directly connected to a network with an active Web connection. You need and router or Access point which is reffer to as  an infrastructure network,  If you have not installed your product on a network, select your product from the following list to review complete network installation instructions.
If you complete the previously mentioned steps you can do this after to set your printer with an static (non changing) IP Address and google dns public servers to ensure that this works properly
(sometimes the preset DNS server assigned by you ISP will create conflict)
    Let's do this;
Follow these steps to print a network configuration page from the HP product.
On the product-control panel, touch the Wireless icon ( ), or touch Wireless .
Touch Print Info . The product prints a network configuration page. After you have printed a network configuration page or wireless network test report, check for the following:
Does the network configuration page or wireless network test report indicate any problems? If so, follow the recommendations on the report to try to resolve the issue.
Do the reports indicate that the HP product is connected to your wireless network? The network name that the HP product is connected to shows on the network configuration page or the wireless network test report.
Make sure that the product is connected to the correct wireless network, and not another wireless network in the area (such as your neighbor's).
Follow these steps to assign a static IP address to your HP product.
      In the browser on your preference please type the printer's IP address and the EWS (Emblemded Web Server) should open here  Click the Networking tab, click the Wireless tab, and then click the IPv4tab. (Your menu path might be slightly different, depending on your HP product model.) A new settings page displays there do the following;
Set a Manual IP : Your wireless router automatically sets an IP address within a specific range (called the DHCP range). If you know what the DHCP range is, set an IP address in which the last set of numbers is outside that range, but no higher than 254. Keep the first three sets of numbers the same. If you do not know the DHCP range, select a fairly high IP address, like 250 (again, for the last set of numbers). To learn about your router's DHCP range, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or wireless router manufacturer.
Subnet address : Use 255.255.255.0, unless you know that it is different, in which case you should use that number.
Set the gateway address and the first DNS.  Find the gateway address in network configuration page you printed previously and added here and for the DNS servers. Use google's Public DNS Servers which are 8.8.8.8 and in the second (Alternative DNS) 8.8.4.4
Att this point you will be ready to take full advantage of the capabilities of EPrint just follow this instructions to get started GO HERE.
Hope this answer your question and helps you.  Let me know if I can assist you any further I will do my best to help you.
    Best of luck;

  • IChat keeps telling me my server connection was lost

iChat keeps telling me my server connection was lost but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I have used iChat for years with no problem and I checked everything with my connection and it is obviously fine if I can write this message.

    Hi Kimberly,
If this has been when you set up your Google ID in iChat then make sure you have spelt your ID EXACTLY as it appears when you log in to the Google Wb Mail page.
In Mail you can set it up to Retrieve your Google Mail.
It seems to be less fussy here about whether you use  the @gmail.com ending or the @googlemail.com one but in iChat it is Important.
In iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts in iChat 4 and 5 you can click the Add Button at the Bottom of the list and the Add pane allows you to Chose GoogleTalk.
This will then add the server name for you (Now Seen in Server Settings tab)
    This should read talk.google.com
IF you added it as a Jabber ID (It is a jabber server after all) then the server will be whatever the ending of your ID is (gmail.com or googlemail.com) as it pulls through the ending of the Name/ID
In iChat 3 there is no Google Talk opeion when adding an account  and you have to Manually change the Server Name in that Server Settings tab.
In all cases it should use SSL and list port 5223
Google will allow Logins on port 443 so you could try changing that.
I have not come across an issue with the Password length with a Google ID
If this is a recent thing then check that you can Login with a Browser to the GoogleMail Web page (i.e Find out if the name and password are correct.)
If it works there go to System Preferences > Security > Firewall
If this is ON then go to the Advanced Button
Make sure Allow Signed Apps is Enabled (Snow Leopard) and that iChat is in the List
In Leopard Allow All or Allow Specific Apps (And iChat in the list) should be ticked then in the Advanced Button Stealth should not be On.
If you allowed iChat through your Router using Port Forwarding then check that the IP In System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > TCP/IP tab is the same one in the Port Forwarding settings on the router.

  • Need To Trace Reports Server Connection to Database

    Hi,
A customer is getting intermittent "Unable to connect to database" errors when running Oracle Reports.
We have tried teaking the Reports server's configuration, but the errors are still occuring.
I know how to set up a trace on the Reports server, but wonder how best to trace the server's connection/attempted connection to the database.
Is it possible to trace attempted connections?
Database is 9i 9.2.0.6, Reports server is OracleAS 10g 9.0.4.2.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Jim

There is a parameter SQL_TRACE which you can turn on and it will start tracing all the sessions at database level which is not preferred way. You need to enable the trace for only report server sessions for troubleshooting and you can do this by enabling the trace in specific sessions. You can do something like this:
Connect to database using report server
On the server identify the sessions belongs to report server connection
Enable the tracing for those sessions by using:
    SQL> exec dbms_system.set_sql_trace_in_session(SID,SERIAL#,true);
You can find the SID and SERIAL# (if your report server session) in V$SESSION view in database.
Then find the trace files in path defined user_dump_dest parameter. After getting the trace file use TKPROF to parse it. Just type at command prompt:
    tkprof abc.trc abc.txt
It will convert the trace file into readable format.
    Best Of Luck.
