Easier way to import whole CDs to itunes?

I want to put in my whole CD. But I have to click on "get CD track names" then manuall click on each track to go into itunes. is there a faster eaiser way to put in a whole CCD into itunes without manually typing in the track names?

I do click on get cd track names. The names come up, but then I have to manually click on EVERY TRACK to import it into Itunes. Is there a way to get the track names and import the whole CD instead of sitting here and having to click on each track. I have the option to import the whole CD into itunes, but it just says "track 1, track 2, ect" so I have to type in the tracj names. Is there a better way? and an FYI I do a 5th gen Ipod, thats why I posted here.

  • I'm trying to find an easier way to import my music to iTunes. Even the most basic music player can scan your computer and import found music into your library. I don't want to move my MP3s into the iTunes folder, I don't want iTunes doing any conversion.

I'm trying to find an easy way to import my MP3 collection into iTunes without moving, copying or changing it.
I can't believe that iTunes doesn't have this feature, as even the most basic music players always have this.
I only use iTunes to sync my iPod, as I like Media Monkey to play my MP3s.
I have 137GB of MP3s, mainly from my ripping my CDs, LPs and downloading from Amazon. I've only purchased a handful of songs from iTunes,
Any ideas on how to do this easily?

It does have that feature. Why would you assume that it doesn't?

    Okay, no problem.
If the top bar menu is not displayed in top left of your iTunes Library, use the CTRL+B keys to turn it on:
On that menu, use File/Add Folder to Library and navigate to the folder you wish to add:
If you wish to add just one song, notice the File/Add File to Library command on that menu as well.
Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop from the file's location into your iTunes Library.
That's all there is to it.
By the way, it is possible to have Amazon MP3s downloaded to your computer and then automatically added to the iTunes Library by the Amazon downloader. I do it all the time.

If your CD has tracks with different artists, then you need to identify it as a 'compilation' CD. Select all of the tracks in the CD, then 'get info' (control-I), and go to 'Options'. Select 'yes' for 'Part of a compilation'. That should fix the problem.

  • Easier way to duplicate CD's in iTunes

Is there a easier way to duplicate CD's in iTunes with the assumption that the original CD's contents are not on my computer?
Present methods require me to import the CD content to the computer, and burn that way. Is there a easier method?
Kinda like the old Diskcopy method for the pre OSX Macs.
    John

    Another easy & free way.
On the desktop control click - New Burn Folder.
Drag the songs from the CD to the burn folder.
Insert a blank CD, control click - Burn Disc.
Does this not create a hybrid data CD with AIFF files on it?
From Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Burning a CD or DVD:
The Finder can burn files to a CD or DVD. You can then use that disc as a backup, send it to friends, or copy those files to another machine. Mac OS X burns discs that can also be used on Windows computers and other types of computers. Thie disc uses a HFS Plus/ISO 9660 hybrid format with these file systems: HFS+, ISO-9660 with Rock Ridge, and Joliet with Rock Ridge.
Audio CDs don't contain any "files," nor do they have a file system, so the Finder cannot duplicate them. Burn folders are only for burning data CDs and DVDs.

  • Backing up ipod! Too many folders.. easy way to import?

I am backing up over 8500 songs on my iPod.. I am saving them on an external hard drive AND on DVD+R dics just to be sure.
I went into the iPod settings under "My Computer" and made the folder unhidden to get the songs... I do NOT want to use any type of program. This worked fine.
I moved the songs to one folder(all of the songs with names like AEOF, etc...)
PROBLEM: I put the settings in iTunes to "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "copy Files to iTunes media" so I could SAVE the songs with their title.
When I imported 875 songs into iTunes just to TEST it, it gave me 426 items in iTunes, all folders of the songs.. (yes, I have a lot of single songs!)
*If something happens to my iPod, and I want to put these songs on a new ipod, do i need to +CLICK on every folder+ to import the song in it BACK on iTunes.*
This isn't even half my collection and I already have 426 folders. I want to know now if there is an easy way to import songs without clicking on every folder.
    Thank you!
    Help!

To backup all the folders inside iTunes Music just copy iTunes Music to another location. Everything inside gets copied. To reimport everything you backed up, either import the backup copy of the iTunes Music folder with the iTunes option *Copy to iTunes Music folder when adding to library*, or copy the backup folder in as a sub-folder of the main iTunes Music folder (so you would have ...\iTunes Music\iTunes Music\<Lots of folders>) and then use *Add folder to library* to add in ...\iTunes Music\iTunes Music - iTunes will process all subfolders automatically and reorganise if you have *Keep iTunes Music folder organised* turned on.
If space is at a premium then I'd really recommend that you purchase a small external hard drive and build your complete library onto it - they are really quite cheap these days. As you have discovered, reconstucting a library from an iPod's contents is not a trivial task and, given the chances that at some point you could have your iPod lost, stolen, or the data inaccessible, having the iPod as the principle source of the library is a bad move. Even having backups of the media without having these arranged in an iTunes library makes restoring your iPod a much more complex task than it should be.

is there an EASY way to submit podcasts to the itunes store? i've tried creating podcasts in garageband, then somewhere after wordpress  itunes  doesn't recognize the feed.
my process has been (i am open to suggestions for other free and EASY services/methods):
garageband : create & edit audio. add 1400x1400 image.
    share to itunes.
    drag file to desktop.
upload .m4a file to google drive.
create a link post in wordpress using "podcast" tag & create "podcast" category.
click on "entries rss" in wordpress, which takes me to the rss subscribe page (which is basically just my wordpress address with "/feed" at the end.
    i copy this url.
go to itunes store > then "submit a podcast"
itunes gives me the error message "we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed."
when i try to subscribe to my podcast in itunes, it does, but gives me no episodes available.
i went back into wordpress and changed settings/ reading settings to : "full text" from "summary"
    still the same error message.
i added a feedburner step after wordpress but got the same errors. i don't think i should have to add feedburner.
wordpress seems to be encapsulating the rss, what am i doing wrong?
this so much easier when you could go directly from garage band to iweb to mobileme; i miss those apple days (also idisk).

if anyone has a super EASY process, i would LOVE to know what it is. EASY, meaning no html and also free. there are many free online storage systems available, many of which i currently use. the above process was just me trying to figure it out, if you have an easier method, please share. thank you so much!

  • Is there an easy way to import those misfortunate photos back into iphoto

I moved my iphoto library to my external drive so that both my laptop and imac can use the synced photo library.
... but now my imac iphoto says I can not open my iphoto library, because is from a newer version of iphoto. And the application then closes.
I figured out my newer laptop has a newer version of iphoto on it.
    Imac iphoto version is 6.0.6
    Laptop iphoto version s 7.1.5
I Downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This created a new library but says a lot of my pictures are lost. I can search and find them on my external drive and reimport, but there are a lot of them! Any suggestions?
I'd rather use the 6.0.6 on my imac than pay for an upgrade.
    I just won't use my laptop's iphoto.
BUT, how can I get my 6.0.6 working again with all of my pictures in tact? Or is there an easy way to import those misfortunate photos back into iphoto painlessly?
    Any other solutions??
Will Snow Leopard have the newest iPhoto included?
    Thank you!
    Kim

    Kim
If you want to revert to iPhoto 6 then you have two choices:
    1. Restore from your back up
    or
    2. Create a new v6 Library and start over.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'.
Go into the Old iPhoto Library (Right Click on the Library Icon and choose ‘Show Package Contents) and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the old iPhoto Library.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
“Snow Leopard” is an OS Upgrade. While we have no idea what will be included with it, on past experience, no, it will not include a new version of iPhoto.

I am having problems importing some CDs into iTunes on a laptop with Windows 8. Most CDs import without problem. The ones I can't import can be imported into iTunes with Windows 7. Does anybody know why this problem is occurring?

First-off, this seems to be a general problem with 10.4 (across all the operating systems of which I am aware).  Unfortunately, I cannot provide a permanent solution but, if you need a quick fix, this will (hopefully) work for you.
For some inexplicable reason, iTunes no longer recognises standard Windows paths.  For example:
    Y:\Music\Buddy Holly\Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
The end result is that it will import a playlist with no content.
It will, however, recognise the equivalent Apple paths which look like this:
    file://localhost/Y:/Buddy Holly/Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
It is possible to convert your existing playlists using a few basic replace commands in something like Notepad.  In my case, I made some code changes in my music manager and now generate two sets of playslists (one standard and one to accommodate iTunes).
Forgive me foir stating the obvious but please remember to make sure that the disk / path containing your music is accessible when doing the import otherwise you will probably get a blank result.  Note that you can do a bulk import by selecting all the (revised) playlists and dragging them onto the iTunes sidebar.
I am sorry that this is not a "clean" solution but it will work if you are in a bind.  The only alternative of which I am aware is to wait for Apple to fix the problem.

I have always imported my cds (including books) into iTunes using one step called "join cd tracks" which is under the "Advanced" menu. Never a problem. But today I was importing a 10 disc book and on the 7th disc all of a sudden the choice to join cd tracks was greyed out. I have tried it with other discs. No luck. How can I get to this option again. I was not doing anything different so don't know what took away this choice. Can anyone help me?

Thought it had worked but soon found out it had not.
after further days of trying finally, solved it for me Yesterday.
turned off notifications when locked, and bingo, wow.
i have not turned off iCloud but location services are also off.
best thing to do I found was keep checking your usage, settings, general, usage, and flip down to bottom, if the standby and usage are similar there is a problem, if there is a big difference then all is ok. Just keep turning things off and on until the difference is very apparent.
something on my phone was keeping the phone alive even when turned off, and I think this was the phone repeatedly trying to update continually.
to me this is definitely down to the iOS, my wife has exactly same phone and iOS but hers doesn't have any problem and the battery lasts for days.
the guy at the Genius Bar told me to restore the phone via iTunes, not iCloud. This is because iCloud remembers the exact info from your phone and simply reinstates it when you restore, and this includes the iOS too.
when I get home from holidays that's what I'll do, or wait for iOS 8 in few weeks. But I'm so pleased I finally made it work, I was beginning to think ditch the phone and buy Samsung.
anyway anyone out there please try my final solution and let me know if it works for you?

  • Is there a way to import a cd into itunes library unchecked by default?

I'm in the process of importing all of my cd's into itunes library, but I want the tunes unchecked in the library so they won't automatically update into my ipod. Right now I've got itunes set up to automatically import a cd I insert and then eject on complition. Then I have to open the library, find the songs, and uncheck them. Is there a way to automate the unchecking process? Thanks.

I don't know how to automate what you are doing however if it's all the songs in your library that are affected it's quite easy to check or uncheck them all at once without searching.
To check or uncheck all the songs in a list:
Control-click the checkbox next to a song.
    Windows Keyboard Shortcuts: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/windows/shortcuts/
Also, if for a period of time you don't want your iPod automatically updated while you are importing your CDs why not change the update option?
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

Hi I followed instructions to copy/move iTunes music to a new PC. I can see albums listed in the library but SYNCH will not put any music on my new iPod.
It took three weeks to import my CDs on the old PC and I don't want to do it again!
    Can anyone help ?

Take a look here; it should help:
iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
Though it refers to items purchased from the iTunes Store, it applies to all your iTunes content. And if you happen to also own an iPod:
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
Once you have the tracks on some removable medium, you can mount that on your new computer and then just drag the content to the iTunes window. Make sure that the option to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is set in the iTunes -> Advanced -> General preferences before you do. Alternatively, you can use the Add To Library command and select each track (or folder of tracks).
If you won't be using that Windows system once you move the content, don't forget to deauthorize the system from your iTunes Store account before you dispose of the computer.
    Regards.

  • Is there an easy way to eliminate duplicate tracks from iTunes on a mac?

All of a sudden I have over 6,500 duplicate tracks in my iTunes.  Not entire albums but many tracks from an album are duplicated.  Is there an easy way to get rid of these tracks or do I have to do this one by one?  Also why would this be happening? I have "Keep iTunes Media Organized" checked as well as "Copy files to iTunes when adding to library".

It is hard to say why.  iTunes is unlikely to do this all its own and there is probably something you did like add a folder that is not part of the current media collection thinking it needed adding, but it had already been added in the past.
There is no simple, universal panacea for duplicates.  You can try some of the suggestions below.
How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2905
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/dupin.php (commercial)
Posts by turingtest2 about different types of duplicates and techniques- https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3555601 and https://discussions.apple.com/message/16042406 (Note: The DeDuper script is for Windows)
Frankly, I would do it manually.  As you can see from turingtest2's post, some duplicates are not really duplicates and I would rather do it manually than discover that a script had removed my only copy of a file (yes, I have backups but I may not notice for a year or so a file is no longer there, by which time I would have overwritten the backup because I do not have drive space for storing a year's worth of weeky iTunes backups tens of GB in size).
I would also review how you add media to iTunes.  It should not be producing all that many duplicates.

  • Can't import some cds to itunes

    Hi
I am unable to import at least 10% of my cds into iTunes. Get the error message: "The file [track/cd name] could not be converted. You don't have write access for your iTunes media folder or a folder within it. To change permissions select your iTunes Media folder in the Finder, and choose File>GetInfo".
I did this several times and made sure I had permissions to read/write, but still can't import many cds.
    Would appreciate your help!
    Rob

Just reinstall it. Back up as soon as you can.

  • Is there an easier way to download previous purchases on itunes?

I have bought over 2000 songs from iTunes and was wondering if there was an easier way to download them onto my new computer other then going through each artist and hitting download.  I would greatly appreciate any answer because as you can tell 2000+ songs is a couple hundred artists and I was hoping to find a faster way of doing this.

Yes you can press download all for the specific artist inside of purchase history but like I said in my issue there is still hundreds of artists and you can only do up to 3 artists (which can sometimes be 30 songs) at a time before it starts to lag.  I am wondering if there is a universal download all area for all songs period in which I am yet to find and yes I went back and looked after your comment.  If this is what you meant could you elaborate more because I must have misunderstood.
