Easiest way to copy certain photos to DVD?

Ok - I have about 50 photos highlighted in my library...
how can I easily burn them to DVD for a June back-up?

does LR3 not offer a simple means of copying or backing up certain photos?
Lightroom offers no backup of photos except at the time of Import. Lightroom does not offer a function that copies photos from here to there. (You can move photos but not copy them using Lightroom)
You can use File->Export if you would like, and create files for each photo that can go on your DVD. Maybe there's even a way to have LR write the DVD automatically, I don't know cause I never looked for this.
The problem is, if you use File->Export and create individual files for each photo, you lose (some or all) catalog information. There is no way around this. If you File->Export as Catalog, as I suggested, no information is lost.
So, you have a choice of methods. One method involves the loss of some or all catalog data. The other method involves losing no catalog data. Which one are you going to pick?

  • What is the easiest way to copy individual photos from a pc to ipad?

what is the easiest way to copy individual photos from a pc to ipadair 2?  I have been told that transferring via itunes creates one mass file from which individual photos cannot be manipulated.

Photos synced from iTunes cannot be deleted one at a time if that's what you mean. They can be manipulated, if manipulated means editing or moving them into folders that you create on the iPad in the photos app.
I agree with Procyon256 that emailing is probably the easiest way for one at a time, but there are also WiFi transfer apps that are pretty nice for this purpose, I use this one.

  • Easiest Way to Copy many Files, Songs, Photos, ... From One Mac to Another?

My daughter is about to buy a MacBook for school.
What is the easiest way to copy files from my computer to her new one (while leaving originals in place)?
There are three kinds of files -- documents, photos and music.
I have a pile of cables -- USB, Firewire, Ethernet, ... -- and an external hard drive with copies of everything on my internal HD.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

Two methods for the same result.
    Your way:
Using the external the OP would need to connect it to the computer with all the files, then copy the files onto the external. Once the copy was finished the OP would then need to connect the external to the other computer and copy the files off.
If the OP already has a complete back up of the original computer than the files just need to be copied off the external, so your way would be easier. But I find that I usually don't have a completely up to date backup so I assume at least a few files would need to be copied off the original computer first, anyway.
    My way:
Connect the computers with a firewire cable. Start one in Target Disk Mode. Copy the files across. When the copy is done, restart the TDM computer. No worries about missing any files that may not be on the external backup yet.
Which is better is simply a matter of preference and perception.

  • In iPhoto, I want to copy certain photos in an event and then have the copies in another event WITHOUT removing the original photos from their original event; how to do that?

in iPhoto, I want to copy certain photos in an event and then have the copies in another event WITHOUT removing the original photos from their original event; how to do that?

The only way to do that is to export the image to a new file and then re-import it.
It's not really the intended way of working as it uses twice the disk space and is inefficient.
Use Albums instead. A Photo can be in any number of albums and use no extra disk space as it just simply references the image in the Library. Albums can be sorted any way you want - including manaually - and can have image from anywhere in the Library just by drag and drop.

  • What is the easiest way to make a slide presentation DVD with music that can be played on PC or DVD player using MacBook Pro?

What is the easiest way to make a slide presentation DVD with music that can be played on a PC or DVD player?  I'm using a MacBook Pro since that's the computer that has all the photos (in an album) and music.  Thanks.

I would suggest that you post this to the Adobe Encore>Menus & Buttons forum. What you want to do, if I read correctly, is pretty simple. There will probalby be links available to step you though it. I'll look for this there, and start gathering some links.

That is exactly what I've been doing.

  • Easiest way to copy X220 Lenovo image to a mSATA drive

What is the easiest way to copy the Lenovo image to a mSATA drive so that my X220 will boot from the device?
Should I just burn recovery discs, install the mSATA while leaving the 2.5" port empty, and run the recovery process?   I'm only getting a 32GB mSATA drive so maybe copying an image may not work unless the space required is signifcantly less than 32GB for Win 7 64 bit.
    Thanks in advance.
Moderator edit: Matched subject to content.

    Thanks Sveintore!
I may have to do a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit and then just add on some necessary or nice to have Thinkpad applications.
The recovery disc will still be on the origianl 2.5" 320GB I will be reattaching once I get the smaller mSATA SSD so I can do away with that.

  • Easiest way to preserve iPhoto Photos

Can someone tell me the easiest, most reliable way to make sure my iPhoto photos are safe. For example, if my computer and/or backup hard drive were stolen, is there a way to get my photos back? Should I use iDisk, iWeb, Picassa, or something like that? If so, would someone be able to offer a step by step process to help me do this? Thanks very much in advance to anybody who is able to help!

I have a Library of some 20k images about 55 gigs in size.
I may be a tad extreme but my photos are important to me and my family.
My Library lives on my iMac.
It’s Backed up to an external hard disk every day. This disk is permanently attached to the iMac. This back up runs automatically.
It’s backed up to a portable hard disk whenever photos are added. This hard disk lives in my car. For security, this disk is password protected.
It’s backed up to DVDs once a year, in the Autumn. These DVDs live across town in a relative’s home. Every year I replace last year’s disks with a new set, as protection against Disk Corrosion.
My Photos are backed up online. Personally I use SmugMug but there are many options including flickr. However, check the terms of your account carefully. While most sites have free uploading, you will often find that these uploads are limited in terms of the file size, or the bandwidth you can use per month. For access that allows you to upload full size pics with no restrictions you will need to pay.
Every couple of months I test the back ups to make sure they are working correctly. I use DejaVu</b

  • What is the easiest way to copy a DVD?

I have a DVD with a video that I downloaded from youtube.com What is the best way to burn a copy for a friend?
    Thanks!

Use disk utility... insert your DVD. When it mounts and is visible in the column at left, go to New>Image from 'DVD NAME'. When it finishes, you will have a .dmg file on your hard drive. Double-click to open it. It will appear as a mounted volume. In disk utility, click to highlight and then click on 'burn'.

  • Easiest way to backup music/photos/documents?

What is the easiest and most cost efficient way to backup all my music/photos/ and documents? I've probably got about 5-10GB. Thanks.

Refer to the Apple manuals for doing a backup/restore. All you need is a place to dump your home folder. I highly recommend backup this entire folder. In the event of any kind of hardware failure, restoring this will have you up and running with all of the settings you are familiar with now. Restoring is about as easy as dragging your home folder back into the users folder. It's very simple. Depending on the size of your home folder and the type of external drive, be prepared to wait up to an hour for the copy to complete. I backup 44GB to an external usb drive in about 45 minutes. In order to copy your home folder you will need to enable the administrator account which is explained very clearly in the Apple backup/restore manual.

  • Easiest way to load footage from a DVD?

What is currently the easiest/fastest way to import video on a previously authored DVD into iMovie? I should point out that the application does not involve copyrighted material -- I simply want to rework DVDs that I made years ago. I have gotten good results by playing back with a DVD player and using a Canopus ADVC-300 to convert to DV, but surely there must be a better way by now. I am looking forward to the day when one can simply insert a DVD into the computer and import footage directly into iMovie. Why does this capability not exist? Is it not something that would obviously be useful? There exists a program called Prism that allows one to extract footage from a DVD, but this approach requires the intermediate step of a Quicktime file, which must then be imported into iMovie, and I'm not sure if it preserves high quality.

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • Is there any way to copy a photo with Lightroom adjustments without making a separate copy?

I do most of my printing from lightroom. I generally set up my image the way I want it for printing on photo paper, and then I make other copies and adjustments for printing on things like Canvas, coffee cups, tiles, etc.
The problem I have is I set up templates in photoshop, say for a coffee cup, which will have the correct dimensions, perhaps some text, etc. To get to the lightroom photo with the lightroom adjustments I have to "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments" in photoshop, then copy and paste the image to the template in photoshop. Now I have another copy of the image on my harddrive and in lightroom. So after I copy the image in photoshop, I close it go back to lightroom and delete the copy I just made. Besides the extra fragging on the harddrive this creates, I know I am setting myself to delete the wrong photo by accident through repetition, and it is extra work.
How can get a copy of a photo with Lightroom adjustments to the clipboard without making another physical copy of the photo?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Godspeed,
    Bruce

I may not be the best resource for tiles and cups, I've just started printing to them. Basically I'm doing them using an epson printer with dye sublimation inks printing on transfer paper and then doing the transfer at 400 degrees with a press. I wanted to be able to do my own to get the cost down, and wanted to be able to make it actually usable, (dishwasher safe, etc) so this is the best route I've found. I had to get a new printer, 2 presses, a bulk ink system, and the supplies to print on so it is a pretty hefty up front expense. It can be done cheaper though using a mug wrap heated in an oven (not your cooking oven though). I worked with the folks at Conde to get set up, and they seem pretty good. But I'm still early in the learning curve, so I would be able to tell you a lot more in 6 months.

  • Copying saved photos on dvds into the iphoto library manager

I am trying to copy photos saved in 2011 on dvds into my library manager. I followed the instructions about copying them on my hard drive first. Now that they have been copied on the library manager, can I delete the folder they are in on the hard drive? it seems to me that we are having to take a lot of space duplicating all those photos.

What "library manager" is that? Do you mean iPhoto Library Manager? If so, remember that it's not a place. You can't put anything "into" it. It just shows you the Libraries that you have on your HD.
