Easiest way to do a DVD with chapters

I'm new to DVD Studio Pro. It's seems to be a powerful program but can be a bit confusing. Up until now, I've just been dropping my assets onto a single button and choosing the first selection that comes up in the menu (set asset, I think).
But now, the client's request is different. They want to be able to go through the 10 minute video by just watching it or fast forwarding to chapter points. I think I've got this figured out (add markers in FCP and define them as chapters, then outuput with markers for DVD Studio Pro).
The part I'm not sure of is they also want each chapter to be its own button. Can I do this through DVD Studio Pro (and if so, how?). Or do I just do that through Final Cut, outputting each specific section as its own button?
Thanks for any help. This is a great program but the manual is super confusing!!!

You really need to do the tutorials... it's all in there.
Make a track, drop the asset in and go through the timeline adding chapters where you need them. Make sure the menu viewer is showing and, in the outline view window, click on the track and drag it on to the window. Hold it until the menu appears and select the option which allows you to create a chapter menu.
Do some reading, follow the tutorials and take it a step at a time.

  • Burn DVD with chapters?

I put chapter markers in my Final Cut Pro project, but when I exported my .mov file and used Toast to burn a DVD, there were no chapters. How on earth do I make a DVD with chapters?

The chapter marks will be respected by Compressor and DVDSP.
You can either go back into FCP and re-export with DVDSP markers or you can set markers on any GOP boundary in the DVDSP track timeline. Both apps have very nice Help files for specifics.

  • How can I Burn a Simple DVD with Chapters and Menus out of My Home Videos.

I created an iMovie (unsig iMovie 10.0.2) of my daughter's volleyball season.  I inserted markers separating each game day, hoping these would create chapters in my DVD.  Then I did some research about DVD burning apps and finally downloaded BURN.  With Burn I created a DVD, but this DVD did not have chapters and also did not have a customizable menu.  The whole movie ended up as one 2 hour long chapter.
I have hundresd of family vacation on a hard drive stored and would like to start making iMovies of them to put on DVD for easy watching and forbackup  storing.
What is a simple way I can burn my iMovie with chapters onto a DVD?
My macbook pro did not come with iDVD so I dont have it.
    Thanks.

MY source is HD i beleive. I shot videos with an iPad Mini.
I ventured into this because I offered this DVD to several team parents, so they are waiting for me to give them the DVD.  While I was making it, I added subtitles, showing the game dates, game scores and stats of each player, so it came out really nice.  However, not to concern about quality, i have burt the video in a dual layer dvd in SD.  I dont have a blue ray burner nor media.
This made me want to do the same with my family vacations vieeos, whic now are a bunch of files in a hard drive, sort them by vacation and add titles like lications to actualy be abel to watch them on a dvd someday.
I have apple tv in the family room, but do not use to watch these videos, will look into that. However, I would still want to make the DVD's.
It seems odd how this, basic feature, has been dropped. I guess apple does not want us to use any more discs.
Still hoping I can do this, if not, I will have to gie away the DVDs with the 2 hour long video in a single chapter.

Use the export button in the slideshow to create a video file of your slideshow. Copy it to an USB stick, and transfe it this way to the computers of your friends.

  • Making a DVD with chapters

I'm making a DVD on iDVD with chapters but it won't play all the way through unless it comes back to the menu. I could do it on DVD Pro but it doesn't have the theme I am using on iDVD and it won't let me import it either. iDVD let me make scenes or chapters but not where it supposed to be. How can I change that?
    Thoughts anyone?

    Hi Sheyla
This can be more than one problem. As I get it You are using FinalCut Pro and iDVD.

    FCE/P to iDVD
Several things that I keep in mind
    • How to go from FCE/P to iDVD
    • Free space on Start-up hard disk
    • Encoding
    • Brand and type of DVDs used
    • Burn speed set
    • iDVD BUG
    • Chapters
How to go from FCE/P to iDVD I do
    • Disable Screen and Energy saver
    • IMPORTANT --> FIRST in FinalCut - Mix Down Audio under Sequence Menu / Render Only / Mixdown
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file
    • Select with Mark - Chapter Mark
    • Not as Self-Contained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION (IMPORTANT)
This QT.mov file I import into iDVD from within iDVD.
Free space on Start-up hard disk
I set a minimum of 25GB (for Mac OS and iDVDs temp files)
    Encoding
    • I use Pro Quality encoding
Brand and type of DVDs used

the iDVD project. It will notice and ask You to either Up-date or Cancel. Neither
    of them will work.
Medicine - Start a brand new iDVD project.
    Use of Chapters
    • I only use a to z and 0 to 9 in naming them. NO other symbol/letter !
    • NO Chapter-mark at very beginning - iDVD NEEDS TO set this by it self
    • No Chapter marks in or within two seconds from a transition
(Way around this last one - Export movie as QT full quality and NO Chapter marks
Import this into a new Movie-project and now You are free to set C-Ms where You want
them except at very beginning - still)
    Material used to build movie
    • video - I use streamingDV (or convert all other to this eg .mp4, .avi, .wmv etc)
    • audio - I use .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or from Audio-CD (44.1kHz) - no .mp3 or direct from iTunes
    • photos - I use .jpg - no .bmp etc
Trash iDVD pref file and run Repair Permissions - and have a re-try.
    from post ??
May not be relevant, but I had the same problem with iDVD, where burned DVDs showed a green screen. It was cured by quitting Quicksilver and Quickeys as well as disabling sleep and screensaving

  • Easiest way to produce NTSC DVD from PAL encore project?

I have a PAL Encore project with 25fps assets and subtitles. What's the easiest way to make an NTSC DVD from this project? Encore won't let me edit the quality settings to change from NTSC to PAL. These settings are greyed out. I take it they are dictated by the assets. Can anyone suggest how to make an NTSC project easily from this Encore project? I don't want to go back to the original footage. I want to just convert it from these Mpeg-2 files in the Encore project.
Any help would be much appreciated.

What Richard said. I'll add three things.
Encore won't let me edit the quality settings to change from NTSC to PAL. These settings are greyed out. I take it they are dictated by the assets.
They are dictated by your selections when you created the project. And NTSC vs PAL are not settings that can be changed in the project settings once created.
Regarding reusing menus. The files accessed by the Encore library for DVD projects are different for NTSC vs PAL. They have NTSC or PAL in the filename, but you don't see this from inside Encore. (They do not vary for Bluray menus.) You can take your NTSC project menus, "save as file," and then "import as menu" into a new PAL project. They will be the "wrong" pixel size and aspect ratio, but Encore may correct the par. I have never tried this. But if you get oddities doing it this way, in the new PAL project, add a PAL menu, edit in photoshop, and copy the button groups and such from the NTSC version of the menu to the PAL menu. That might work.
What I see in most of these "convert PAL from NTSC" threads is that virtually all NTSC disks play on current PAL equipment. Many users asking your question decide not to convert. that is especially true, because Richard's "export as NTSC" is not as simple as it seems.

  • Easiest way to access shared album with Lion only

one of my friends is still using Lion only and she's want to make a photobook on her Mac with the pictures from a shared album (not photo stream) that I created. She also has an iPhone and iPad that have iOS6 (she's willing to update to iOS7 if that helps) and thus can view the shared album.
under this situation, what's the easiest way for her to get the pictures over to her Mac? There are over 100 photos so email is something she wants to avoid. Apps that are not very expensive (<$10) is ok if they can do the job quickly. and high resolution preferred (doesn't have to be the full resolution)
and she's using aperture to create the photobook, not that i think it's too relevant to the question
    thanks much in advance.

You might be thinking of Crossover. Not sure if Windows Media Player works under it, but their website has info on requested and working apps.
    Best of luck.

  • What is the easiest way to copy a DVD?

I have a DVD with a video that I downloaded from youtube.com What is the best way to burn a copy for a friend?
    Thanks!

Use disk utility... insert your DVD. When it mounts and is visible in the column at left, go to New>Image from 'DVD NAME'. When it finishes, you will have a .dmg file on your hard drive. Double-click to open it. It will appear as a mounted volume. In disk utility, click to highlight and then click on 'burn'.

  • Combine several Quicktime (.mov) files into a DVD with chapters

I made several Quicktime movie segments (.mov) that I periodically upload to Youtube. Now I have a collection of these short 30 secs to 5 minute videos that I want to incorporate into 1 DVD.
How do I burn it with chapters to represent each videos?

I was experimenting on different formats (they are converted to mp4, m4v and mov files before uploading to Youtube) at the beginning before I settled on .mov files. My Macbook only have 80 gigs so I want to preserve all of the clips I did in DVDs before I erase them from the hard drive before importing/starting a new tape. All of them were captured using a Sony Digital 8 camcorder.

  • Satellite C655 - Easiest way to burn a DVD

    Hi
I have never had a laptop before. Also new to windows 7. Trying to find the simplest way to burn a DVD from another DVD on this new laptop. I know I have to put the info from the DVD on to the laptop. And then burn it on to a blank DVD. I can put the DVD in to the drive. Thats a great start !!! I am looking for the simplest way to "rip" and burn. Even if it means downloading (hopefully free) burning software.
On my desktop CD burner it was pretty easy to burn from a CD to another CD. 2 trays and software to burn. I know this is more complex. I am somewhat computer challenged, btw. Thanks :)

    Hi lili60,
The most DVDs and CDs that you can buy are copy protected so I doubt you will be able to copy them. Usually you can only copy disks from friends with private pictures, music, etc. but common disks are copy protected.
For burning disks you can use the freeware tool CD Burner XP. Thats really nice tool that provide all necessary functions for burning disks. You can download the tool here:
    http://cdburnerxp.se/
On the same page you can also find an online help how the program works.
If you have more questions, please let us know! :)

  • Easiest Way to make scrolling text with color

What is the easiest way to make scrollable text that I can
set to whatever font I want (embeded of course)
have it look very well anti-aliased; like most Flash text, not like it's being read out of a regular system or browser window. (the text will be big so no probs)
have different portions of the text be different colors so I can highlight certain words and leave others alone
use actionscript to load text content into it
maybe make (all) the text semi transparent for design purposes
I'm going to use some action script to load some XML content into the text areas or whatever. Any of you know of any easy ways of accomplishing this? or have a link to any type of tutorial? (at least for Flash CS3 and above of course, along with ActionScript 3)

Go to Lee Brimlow's website. It has some great tutorials, including one on loading an XML file.

  • Easiest way to create a string with a unicode supplimentary character

In my code I had previously been declaring some strings such as:
String s = "\u1234";Now I have gotten to a point where I want to use a supplimentary unicode character like this:
String s = "\u12345";This, however, does not work since Java only allows for characters in the range: 0000 - FFFF.
I've been reading over this whole codepoint thing in the Character docs but I'm still confused. What's the easiest way to make a string that contains the unicode character U+12345 (just an example number)?

    This article here:
    http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Intl/Supplementary/
says <quote>For text input, the Java 2 SDK provides a code point input method which accepts strings of the form "\Uxxxxxx", where the uppercase "U" indicates that the escape sequence contains six hexadecimal digits, thus allowing for supplementary characters.</quote>
I believe it is referring to Java 5, although I don't see where it says that. However if you are dealing with supplementary characters it might be a good idea for you to move to Java 5 because of its improved support for them.

  • What is the easiest way to import my DVD collection in to iTunes 12?

    Hi all,
I'd be grateful for advice on the best way to import my DVD collection - all legitimately purchased - in to my iTunes collection. I'm currently running iTunes 12 via a 2013 iMac running OS 10.9.4, on a home network including an Apple TV unit. There seems to be a lot of third party software options available, but I'm not sure which offer the best solution or, indeed, if Apple offers the ability to do this via iTunes itself.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
Thanks for that. But do I have to us the external disc, moving it from PC to Mac or is there a better way?. Can you directly connect the systems. I assume wifi is too slow as the size is about 10G
