Easiest way to find current SCN

What is the easiest way to find the current SCN? Thanks.

Hi:
You can not use the X$KCCDI scn for the recovery purposes. THis is database SCN not the transaction SCN. Get the Transaction SCN from either X$KTUXE or V$TRANSACTION.

  • How to find current SCN?

What's the easiest way to find the current SCN?

The OP performed recover until cancel which is an incomplete media recovery and an incomplete media recovery must be followed by an open reset logs.
From the Concepts and SQL manuals (10gR2 ver)
    [Concepts]
    Incomplete Media Recovery Options
Because you are not completely recovering the database to the most current time, you must tell Oracle when to terminate recovery. You can perform the following types of media recovery.
    Type of Recovery Function
Time-based recovery Recovers the data up to a specified point in time.
Cancel-based recovery Recovers until you issue the CANCEL statement (not available when using Recovery Manager).
Change-based recovery Recovers until the specified SCN.
Log sequence recovery Recovers until the specified log sequence number (only available when using Recovery Manager).
    [SQL]
    RESETLOGS | NORESETLOGS
This clause determines whether Oracle Database resets the current log sequence number to 1, archives any unarchived logs (including the current log), and discards any redo information that was not applied during recovery, ensuring that it will never be applied. Oracle Database uses NORESETLOGS automatically except in the following specific situations, which require a setting for this clause:
    •You must specify RESETLOGS:
◦After performing incomplete media recovery or media recovery using a backup controlfile
◦After a previous OPEN RESETLOGS operation that did not complete
    ◦After a FLASHBACK DATABASE operation
•If a created controlfile is mounted, then you must specify RESETLOGS if the online logs are lost, or you must specify NORESETLOGS if they are not lost.
OP, your best solution since the source db is apparently in noarchive log mode si to go back to your DBA and have him make you a new copy of the database when it is shutdown. You may also consider using a consistent export and loading the copy db via import.

  • Easiest way to find & replace fonts?

I need to replace a font in my document w/Arial, and I don't know the easiest way to go about it.
For some reason I assumed there was a simple "Find & Replace" method, like in InDesign or Quark, but I can't seem to find it.
I've tried the "Find/Change" > "Character Format" tool, but it doesn't seem to work...Any suggestions?

Use the Paragraph Designer to make the change at the tag level by specifying Arial instead of whatever is in use.
If you have a number of tags, you can select them all in the document and then use a global command in the Para Designer to apply the new font to all selected tags.
If you have a book, once you've got a chapter set up, import the updated formats too all chapters by selecting them in the book file and Importing Formats to them with the edited chapter as your source.

  • Easiest way to find and remove duplicate files?

My wife is a photographer and she's terrible at file management. Consequently she has duplicate versions of images stashed all over her almost full hard drive. What is the easiest waty to find duplicates of files so that I can get rid of them? Any freeware out there that does something like that? This would be for her Intel-based macbook pro running Tiger.

Having spent several hours a few days ago organizing files, I was intrigued by your question.
I found Singular which is appears to be freeware, for at least the time being. There's a link on the registration page that will register the application for you — I assume Singular has to be running for that to work, but that's just a guess.
    http://www.emeraldion.it/software/macosx/singular.html
After you run Singular and drop files/folders on it, you can double click a duplicate entry and both versions are displayed.
    Good luck!

  • Easiest way to find and download dozens of tunes?

For my Dad's 80th birthday, I'd like to download the number #1 song from his birthday week for each year since 1932.. to play compilation at his birthday prarty. so need to find what they are and then download.  Anyone have any ideas on easy - quick way to do this???  Thank you!

The Billboard Hot 100, probably the most commonly-referenced, only goes back to mid-1940 (at that time, it was the "National List of Best Selling Retail Records"). If that would be of help, though, see:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_number-one_hits_(United_States)
There's a list of songs from the 30s here:
    http://ntl.matrix.com.br/pfilho/html/top1/
but I don't know what their measure of #1 was. But it might be sufficient. These assume you're in the US, of course.
Which songs will be available in the iTunes Store I can't say. There won't be any easy way to find them; you'll just have to search for each one. As you find each one, drag it to a playlist in iTunes. Once that playlist is complete, you can then gift it to him, if he operates his own iTunes Store account, or set one up for him and buy and download the tracks yourself.
    Good luck, and regards.

  • Is there a way to find out what apps belong to a certain account

I am having problems updating my apps. I love that little Update All button in iTunes but it is rather useless when there is at least one app mixed in that came from another account. When iTunes hits this one app it stops checking all the rest for updates. It also does not tell me which is the offending app. The update all process also seems to go in a seemingly random order making it hard to figure out which app is the hard stop.
What i would like to know is if there is a way for me to find out, without checking this other account's purchase history, which app belongs to what account.
I currently have apps from 4 accounts in my iTunes library and need to wheedle out one accounts apps.
    Thanks!
    John

    Hello Disgustotron,
If you have apps that are stored within iTunes, you can view what Apple ID is associated with them. Just right click on them an in the Summary tab, it will show what account is associated with that app. That will be the easiest way to find what you are looking for.

  • Easiest way to know the query group name?

    Hello All,
This has been nagging at me for quite some time now. Would appreciate you inputs on the ways to find out the query group name for a set of queries we see on the UI.
The obvious method is to search your query group from the list of query groups that system shows when we navigate to Setup->Queries and Reports->Query Groups. Do we have some other ways as well.
    Thanks In Advance
    Devesh

    Hi Devesh,
If you know the query definition then the easiest way to find the query group would be to use "Search Query Groups by Queries Used" query on the Query Groups list page. This query allows you to select a query definition and returns the query group using the query.
Or you could use "Query Group Review" query on the Query Groups list page. This returns all queries within all Query Groups. You can further refine your search by Query Name or Internal Name of the query you are interested in.
If you want to do a general search for all buy-side list page or buy-side picker page query groups, search for <buylist> and <buypick> respectively.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Vikram

  • Is there a way to find out, whether the student or the full version is currently installed?

    Hi everyone!
    First of all: Merry Christmas!
A longer text with some background information is following. My question will be at the bottom.
My computer is a good boy and it didn't disappoint me for quite a while now.
I had once installed the student version (german) of CS3 extended on this one.
Then, after having removed the student version some time later when needed, I have re-installed the full version.
This time, however, it was in english and it wasn't the extended version either.
After the software has accepted my serial id, I was quite content. It felt much better in english and I was able to use photoshop to the fullest once again.
Today, I have gotten my hands on the upgrade version to CS5 (again in english and not extended, but that's all I need).
After the installation guide has told me, that there are no programmes installed which are compatible to the upgrade, I was confused.
I have realised that my current CS3 version was still the extended one, even though it was in english and it wasn't the student version either (at least, that's what I believe, because there were no "activate"/"deactivate" buttons in the help menu where it used to be in the german student version before).
So while doing an upgrade to CS5, I had to chose CS3 extended from the list and had to type in the old student's version serial number.
Nothing else worked, even though I've tried to chose the CS3 version in combination with the other serial number, which belong to the full version both.
    Now to my question:
Is there a way to find out, whether the student or the full version is currently installed?
(Other than looking at the box of course, that would be quite trivial. I am worried if the installation guide hasn't removed all components thoroughly.)
    Thanks in advance,
    Happy holidays,
    Jeff

    Thanks for the reply!
That's what I thought as well. However, that wasn't the case. Whether it's the educational or the full version, both splash screens looked the same.
At least for the CS3 version.I know how I was quite confused about that in the past when I'd realised that.
The CS5 splash screen didn't say anything about a student version, but I was able to deactivate the application. I thought this was possible for the student version only.
I've tried using the adobe clean program like suggested, but that didn't work either. The installation guide of CS5 still didn't bother asking for an older version.
I.e.: It still used the educational serial number from before.
After reinstalling windows on my pc, the installation guide finally wanted to know about my CS3 again.
However, it told me, that the serial number of the full version in combination with CS3 is not valid. Just like it did before.
Maybe it's because the full version was made in the USA and the CS5 upgrade version was made in Austria - Ireland?
    That would be really frustrating.

  • HT1338 My Mac Book Pro is currently runnng OS X v10.5.8. When I check for updates by clicking the apple icon it tells me that my computer is up to date.  What is the easiest way to upgrade to OS X Lion?  Do I need to get OS X Snow Leopard first?

Yes, there's been no updates to 10.5.8 for quite awhile, next is paid Upgrades.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It looks like they might still have it...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.
    Lion/101.7 System requirements
        •    x86-64 processor (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
        •    At least 2GB of memory, I say 6 GB
        •    Latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), with the Mac App Store installed
        •    At least 4GB of disk space for downloading, I say 50 GB.
Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications.

  • Easiest Way to Move Media from One External Drive to Another?

My MacBook Pro only has a 500GB hard drive and I currently have all my movies on a 1TB external hard drive.  Everything works fine through iTunes, but now since the 1TB is maxed out, I'd like to use my new 2TB external hard drive going forward.  I understand that I need to re-route where iTunes finds the movies, but what is the easiest way to make the conversion from the 1TB to the 2TB?
I have copied all movies from the 1TB to the 2TB.  Is the only thing left to do is re-route the location to the 2TB?  Or do I need to drag and drop all movies into iTunes (they're all already in there)?  Just didn't know if I needed to add them into iTunes again so they know to point to the 2TB drive. (sorry if I didn't explain that good!)
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks Limnos!  Really appreciate the help!
    To clarify:
    - I currently have only movies on the external 1TB drive (which iTunes points too).  The downside is that I ALWAYS have to have my external drive plugged in, in order to play on Apple TV (or view on MacBook).  I have appx. over 500GBs of movies on my external 1TB.
    - All music (appx. 200GBs) is currently on my internal hard disk, but with a 500GB internal hard drive, that's going to fill up quickly (just so you know - I already have about 125GBs of pics in iPhoto AND work in Photoshop regularly so PSDs lessen my internal 500GB space quickly).
Eventhough I HATE having to keep an external drive plugged into my MacBook, I'm just going to have to suck it up and get used to it so I will have more space and my MacBook will run faster.
With that in mind, I was thinking about moving my music (200GBs) onto my 2TB external drive (along with the movies).  So that would leave roughly the photos and Photoshop files (and random other things that are small in size) on my internal drive.
I could start all over and delete all movies that are in iTunes (the application - not the folders) and then drag and drop them into iTunes from the new 2TB, but I wasn't sure all the metadata (really the cover artwork) would be attached when I did that?  Going that route really doesn't bother me since I've already copied all movies files from my 1TB to my 2TB.  Basically, I would be starting over from scratch as if the old 1TB never existed.
Trying to run this through my mind and come up with the best/easiest way.  What I don't want to do is try and find cover artwork for the almost 300 movies I have (and all the cover artwork for the CDs I have too if I decide to keep my music on the 2TB external drive).
Hope that helps and makes sense?  Thanks again!

  • HT1329 I just downloaded iTunes to a new computer.  It's been a while since I used iTunes on my old computer.  I don't see any of my playlists on the new computer.  What is the easiest way to transfer my playlists without having to recreate each one?

I just downloaded iTunes to a new computer.  It's been a while since I used iTunes on my old computer, so the new one has a totally different user interface.  I signed on to my account and saw my music but I have no playlists on the new computer.  What's the easiest way to replicate or restore my playlists as I had them in the old computer and in my iPod?

OK, thanks for the response.  I'm copying it onto a memory stick to transfer it to the new computer.  Still have two questions:
    1. Since there is already an iTunes folder on the new computer, created when iTunes was downloaded, where exactly do I copy the old folder onto the computer so that iTunes can find it?  In the old interface, there used to be a field where one could designate the path to find music and I don't see that in the new interface.
Assuming the above takes care of putting my playlists onto the new computer...
    2.  How do I add music that is currently stored in a back up file but was not on my old computer's drive?  I'm worried that I would have to add these one by one somehow, and there are a lot of songs.
    Thanks again.

  • Easiest way to move projects from Ableton to iPad

I'm looking to move whole song projects over from Ableton (PC) to iPad.  I don't mind if I'm using Garageband or a different app.
At the moment I can use iTunes file sharing to get tracks into iPad, BUT I have to mix down each individual track in Ableton as wavs, then drop the result into iTunes, then transfer to iPad, then find the wavs from a massive list, import/copy them one by one into garageband until they're all there and line them up correctly.  It feels desperately long winded.  Is there a quicker way?
    Many thanks
