Easiest way to import MPG to iMovie 08?

I need a quick and easy suggestion if possible... I do not have a ton of knowledge in this area but was put in charge of creating a movie using my own files as well as files sent to me... and I told them to send me DV, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 based on what I read in the iMovie guide. Well, none of the files being sent to me are working. I need to figure this out as quickly as possible and I can't spend a ton of money. I tried the MPEG Streamclip with no luck. I will buy the quicktime plug-in for $20 if it will work but don't want to waste any more time/money on another dead end. Anyone have any guaranteed suggestions? Thanks so much in advance!!

You have to install the $20 plug in. After that, you don't have to interact with the plug in. MPEG Streamclip and Quicktime use it behind the scenes.
You can drag the .mpg into streamclip and export it in a variety of formats, including DV.

  • Easiest way to import a bunch of addresses from text file to address book?

What is the easiest way to import text files to address book?
I have a Microsoft Word file with all of my addresses set-up like this:
    Johnny Appleseed
    Apple Computer

Is there some easy way to get them in there without having to copy & paste into each individual field.
    Thanks!

  • What is the easiest way to transfer a large imovie project from one computer to another in a different location.

What is the easiest way to transfer an faairly large HD imovie project from one computer to another in a different location. Can you export to drop box? Will the other computer need the exact imovie version?

    OK it depends.
If you have a finished movie, you can SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE and create your final movie. Then, depending on the size of the finished movie, you can transfer via dropbox or similar service. Ninety minutes is a very long movie for iMovie, but it may work for you. I would suggest 720P to keep the size down.
If you need to transfer the entire iMovie Project so it can be edited in iMovie at the other end, then you need to transfer the project and event assets to an external hard drive and get the hard drive to the other location.
Directions are here. Follow the directions for 1) Moving or copying Project to external drive. Then 2) Consolidate Media.

  • What is the easiest way to import my DVD collection in to iTunes 12?

    Hi all,
I'd be grateful for advice on the best way to import my DVD collection - all legitimately purchased - in to my iTunes collection. I'm currently running iTunes 12 via a 2013 iMac running OS 10.9.4, on a home network including an Apple TV unit. There seems to be a lot of third party software options available, but I'm not sure which offer the best solution or, indeed, if Apple offers the ability to do this via iTunes itself.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
Thanks for that. But do I have to us the external disc, moving it from PC to Mac or is there a better way?. Can you directly connect the systems. I assume wifi is too slow as the size is about 10G

  • Easiest way to import from old computer

i have about 500 songs in itunes on my old laptop that i want to put on my new laptop to use with my ipod. i cant get the ipod to sync on the old computer bc the itunes doesnt see the ipod. whas the easiest way to transfer the songs to my new laptop so i can put them onto my ipod. thanks

    See this article...
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
Perhaps even if your iTunes on the old machine doesn't see the iPod, if you can get the computer to see the iPod as a drive you can use the article's method.
Otherwise you might consider a USB thumb drive to move the files.

  • Easiest way to import 192 AVI's each into it's own event in iMovie '11?

    Hi,
I want to start using our new iMac's iMovie '11 (language not English, hopefully all the terms are correct) as our video library and organizer. I have a bunch of edited and named AVI's (192 exactly), which I would like to *import into 192 separate events in iMovie '11*. I would like to have the AVI file names as event names and naturally keep the correct dates in the process.
Is there an easy way of doing this? The options when importing movies seem to be
    "add to an existing event"
    "create new event"
I think what I'm *looking for would be a third import option*:
*create separate event from every movie (or clip)*
I can't get this done by dragging from Finder either. I can't drag to the library itself and I have to drag the movies to an existing event. Is there a way around this by some sort of batch import or adjusting settings when I drag AVI's over from Finder? I think I could live with writing new event names, but bringing all the AVI's over one by one seems hard work...

You could either script this via shell script or atleast bulk most of the tedious manual create/move operations.
Since you don't have that many, easiest is just to dump the filenames to a textfile and start from that so you don't have to type any.
    ls > clips.txt
Open the file in Excel or a text editor (such as a the free Textwrangler which lets you do stuff in column mode) and create terminal commands. These you can just copy (cmd+c) and then paste into a terminal window and then execute.
    mkdir "clipname 1 minus extension"
    mkdir "clipname 2 minus extension"
You can also add the move operation
    mv "clipname 1" ./"clipname 1 minus extension"
    mv "clipname 2" ./"clipname 2 minus extension"
This is done in just a few minutes

  • Easiest way to import files from Sony HXR-MC50u

The pro-"sumer" Sony HXR-MC50u camera doesn't seem to to be supported for iMovie 11 or Final Cut Pro.     Should I merely record on SD cards or memory stick and use a reader to import.  It might be slow... but what other options should I consider.

Your experience with unlisted cameras is not typical.
There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of camcorders or cameras shooting video and new ones are constantly proliferating.
There is no way Apple (or any other company) can test every camera so those on the lists represent a tiny percentage of what are available.
So long as the camera shoots an internationally approved format (DV, HDV, AVCHD etc.) it will almost certainly be compatible.
In short the lists are therefore virtually useless unless you are buying one of the limited number of cameras that have been tested.
Unfortunately a few camera companies insist on developing their own non-standardised formats.

  • Is there a way of importing projects in imovie 11?

hello today me and my cousins made a star wars film and trailer i shared the projects and they disappeared from imovie and were sat on my desktop!
IS THERE A WAY TO PUT IT BACK IN IMOVIE!
please help  my cousins be annoyed that we can't put stuff on the project

On your internal drive, iMovie projects are located in your User (Home)>Movies>iMovie Projects folder.
On an external drive they are located at the top (root) level of the drive in the folder iMovie Projects.
Similarly, iMovie Events are located in a folder named iMovie Events in the corresponding locations for each disk.
Close iMovie, then drag the two projects from the Desktop to the appropriate iMovie Projects folder. When iMovie is next opened, it should recognise the two projects (they should appear in the Project Library where the projects are listed).
It's difficult to understand how the projects ended up on the Desktop. Normally, iMovie places exported (shared) projects in the location you nominate, or when sharing to the Media Browser the exported file is placed in the project's package contents folder - post back if you need more information on this. Nothing is moved from the iMovie Projects folder when iMovie performs the export.

  • Is there a way to import a project from iOS iMovie 2.0 to OSX iMovie 10.0.3?

Is there a way to import a project from iOS iMovie 2.0 to OSX iMovie 10.0.3?
I can get the project file on my MacBook desktop, but can't find a way to import it into iMovie 10.0.3

    No you can not.
You can connect USB 3 components to you MB if you wish to use them but will only run at USB 2 specs.

  • Cannot import photos into iMovie from iPhoto

I have used iMovie for years to make a video (and then a DVD) from my photographs.  The photographs are all in iPhoto events.  In the past, i create a new movie, select photographs for the iMovie browser and drag some of them into the movie work area.  The problem which just came up is that if I drag in 10 pictures, all of the pictures in the movie show as the same image.  They have the correct mixture of portrait and landscape according to what I was dragging in.  If I try to "run" the movie, I just get a blank screen.  I have tried:
    1. Deleting all the pictures and dragging them in again.
    2. Restarting the program. (iMovie).
    3. Rebooting the Mac Book.
    4. Reintalling iLive 11
    5. Deleting the movie and creating a new one.
I had the problem a few week ago and it went away.  Other movies in the library are wokring fine.  I don't have a clue of what to try next.

I am using Iphoto 11 ver 9.4.3 on mac using oxs 10.8.5 i want to export calendar projects to an external hard drive. my goal is to store them in an external hard drive so it doesn't use up memory on the mac hard drive. is it possible to copy the specific projects without copying the entire library? what is the easiest way to do this? i have tried export and import but it didn't seem to work.

    What do you not understand?
You can duplicate the iPhoto library (command - D ) and delete everything except the project and its photos from the copy and move that
    Or
However the calendar takes very little space - it is simpy database entries - it is the photos in the calendar that take space - and for most people you would wnat to keep those photos in your library
you can use a photo in 50 calendars and it still is only one photo in your library - as I explained calenders do not exist as such - they are simply database entries telling iPhotop how to display the calendar - they take almost no space at all

  • Is there a way to import videos from old VHS tapes so that they can be later accessible to processing with imovie?

Is there any way to import videos from old VHS tapes so that thry can later be processed by imovie?

I recently got a new  iPhone, and after restoring all my stuff from my old iPhone via the iTunes restore thing, I had to put all my music on manually, instead of it being restored.
iTunes content is not included with your iPhone's backup - no music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, audio and print books, tones, and apps. All iTunes content must be transferred back to your iPhone when restoring. If you sync music with Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, music is transferred back to your iPhone from your iTunes library when syncing - syncing is followed after the iPhone is restored. If you manually manage music and videos with this selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, you must manually drag all music from your iTunes library back to your iPhone. Manually manage music means manually all the way.
