Easiest way to transfer purchased songs?

What is the easiest way to transfer purchased iTunes songs from an old laptop to a new computer?
I bought my girlfriend a new computer and an iPod Touch for Christmas. She had an older laptop with I believe Windows XP and an the updated iTunes 8 I'm assuming since she has already used her Touch on that laptop. The new machine has Windows XP and the newest iTunes 8. She does have those purchased songs on her new Touch, but we want to transfer them to the new computer so we can trash the ancient laptop.
Thank you in advance for anyone's help.... Chris

Is there any reason this "Copy Purhcases" feature doesn't work?

  • Is there a way to transfer purchased songs from one iTunes account to a new iTunes account?

This is a bit difficult to explain so bear with me! My two little sisters, years ago, started buying music off the iTunes store. It was my account so now i have all their purchased songs and apps on my account. At the time they were too little to have thier own email so I just let them do it on mine, I didn't see any problem with it. However, now that I am on iCloud and they all have iphones, I am stuck with all their contacts, music, games, etc. I do not want their music so I am wondering if there is a way to transfer their purchased items onto a new iTunes account that I will set up for them (they are in high school now and have their own emails, etc.) I have searched online and haven't found a solution to this. Please help! I understand that only one account can have rights to a song, but I would like to transfer their purchased songs to a new account.

Purchases cannot be transferred to a new Apple ID.
You can stop receiving their info by signing out of iCloud.

  • I have a mid year 2007 24 inch iMac and will be purchasing a new 27 inch Retina iMac, what is the easiest way to transfer the data and files from my old machine to the new one?

I have a mid year 2007 24 inch iMac and will be purchasing a new 27 inch Retina iMac, what is the easiest way to transfer the data and files from my old machine to the new one?

    Following up on this thread,
I have a new iMac on the way and my current is from 2008, never had a problem but I am sure there are internal issues that I would prefer not to transfer.
I have no issues other then the slowness in certain programs and that is the main reason to buy a new one.
Programs like numbers and pages seem to take a longer time to open after I update to Yosemite.
I only use 272GB of 500 GB, my memory is 4GB and I am upgrading to 8Gb and bought the 4.0 processor.
    Question:
Is there a way to manually transfer items or would that be a waste of time in that if there are issues they could be anywhere and would transfer anyway?

I got a new computer and backed up my iTunes library to an external hard drive.  The external hard drive is not allowing me to access the drive.  I no longer have access to the old computer.  Is there a way to transfer the songs from my iPod touch to my new computer?

That's a bummer, didn't realize the exHD files were corrupt, esp if you have tried from another PC and not just this new computer.
You can get purchases from the itunes store transferred from an iPod using these directions:

If you want everything (meaning non-itunes songs, app data, photos, etc) you need to buy a 3rd-party ipod manager that support iTouch. Here is an iLounge article to start your research:

  • I want to transfer purchased song from mac to mac using home sharing but retain all the song modifications I have done

I want to transfer purchased song from mac to mac using home sharing but retain all the song modifications I have done.  I am finding this very difficult

If your intention is to copy a just documents and data (word processing files and music for example) then yes, you can use drag and drop. If you want to transfer data and applications and permissions, it would actually be easiest to connect the drive to your old computer and turn on TimeMachine. Once TM is finished, connect the drive to your new computer and restart it holding the option key to get into Recovery mode. Then you can use the restore from TM option to transfer your data and programs to the new computer.

  • What is the easiest way to transfer a large imovie project from one computer to another in a different location.

What is the easiest way to transfer an faairly large HD imovie project from one computer to another in a different location. Can you export to drop box? Will the other computer need the exact imovie version?

    OK it depends.
If you have a finished movie, you can SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE and create your final movie. Then, depending on the size of the finished movie, you can transfer via dropbox or similar service. Ninety minutes is a very long movie for iMovie, but it may work for you. I would suggest 720P to keep the size down.
If you need to transfer the entire iMovie Project so it can be edited in iMovie at the other end, then you need to transfer the project and event assets to an external hard drive and get the hard drive to the other location.
Directions are here. Follow the directions for 1) Moving or copying Project to external drive. Then 2) Consolidate Media.

  • Easiest way to transfer all Business Documents to another instance

We have to transfer all appraisal documents to another SAP instance. We know how to transfer all other parts except attachments (such as Excel sheets) of appraisal documents. These attachments are stored in Business Document Service (BC-SRV-BDS) with classname APPR_DOC.
What is the easiest way to transfer all such attachments (in other words, all business documents of type APPR_DOC) to another system?
For example, can transaction OAOR be used to transfer all documents easily? I have currently some authorization problems so that I can't test OAOR myself, and I am not sure whether you can easily select all documents for transport or do you have to do it one-by-one.
Another option would be to do the transfer via RFC, but it involves writing programs to both the source and destination instances.
    Any other ideas?

If the music is already in iTunes and you want to organize it in a single file you con click under Advanced>Consolidate Library.
Otherwise if the music is not in iTunes yet, I believe it is necessary to do it manually, maybe try an automator workflow?
This is an example workflow that can help you:

I am not sure it will work, I recommend you to search in MacOs downloads sections also.

  • Easiest way to transfer photos from my old Windows desktop to new MacBook?

I am an Apple newbie. What is the easiest way to transfer 7 years of photos from my old Windows desktop (Vista operating system) to my brand-new MacBook Air (OS 10.9.5)? Please answer in specific and simple terms. I'm not a techie. Thanks.

That does not create a backup since the photos are on the same disk as the iphoto library, it simply wastes disk space - when the computer or the disk fails or the computer is stolen everything is gone as it is all in the same place - to have a backup you need a copy on a different disk - if you drag the photo from the external disk onto the iPhoto icon in the the dock iPhoto will import them (be sure that the default setting for "copy imported items to the iPHoto library" is checked - do not uncheck it - then you will have the photos in iPhoto and a backup on the external drive
You also need to get an external drive about 2 to 2 1/2 times the size of the iphoto library formatted mac OS extended (journaled) and start running timeMachine so you always have hourly backups

    What?
I did mention using an external drive, did i not?  Copying the photos to the external drive, and then copying the photos from the external drive to the mac. means they now exist in the external drive as well as the new Mac, the external drive is now effectively a backup of the photos. .
I never mentioned anything about iPhoto.   Just a straight copy though Windows Explorer, and Finder on the Mac.
