  • VC Consultants on East Coast

    Can anyone recommend an experienced VC consultant on the east coast (US)?
    (I'm located in North Carolina)
    The experience needs to span implementing complex models for an Executive Dashboad with drill-down capability to detailed views. Also, experience with all supported back-end systems is desired (i.e. SAP, SAP BW, JDBC, Web Services).
    Thanks,
    Shawn

  • My weather widget is set to California, and I am on the east coast. Way to reset it?

    For some reason, my weather widget (the slide down screen) is set to Cupertino, California. Problem: I'm in Washington, D.C and there isn't a real reason for it to be in California....
    I updated my phone, so it is the most up to date.
    My locations services is on, and it is set to D.C, so is there any way to fix this problem?
    Thank you so much!

    Sure, bring up the weather widget and select it.  Select "i" at the bottom right corner and turn Local Weather ON

  • Live chat seems to be closed every time I try to use it. I live on the east coast

    I need to update my Shockwave Flash, but I am using Firefox version 3.6 and Adobe Flash player version 10.0. What do I need to do to make sure my computer can handle these updates?

    Thank you sooooo much. Holding down the shift key fixed the problem
    Much appreciated

  • High Latency to midwest and east coast servers

    Hello,
    Over the last week I have been experiencing excessively high latency to several online gaming and web sites. The problem appears to be a peering issue between verizon.net and att.net or possibly alter.net (not sure who owns them?). Here are several trace routes that illustrate the problem. Calling verizon support has got me no where so far as well as contacting the gaming sites since this looks to them like an ISP issue.

    This is having a very big impact on my internet service performance. I really need this resolve or I may have to consider changing to another ISP who is not see this problem.

    I would like to also post on this -  as Riot Games is suggesting it may be a FIOS issue as well.
    Please look into this, as its been 3-4 days that your connection issues are disrupting us:

  • AUSOUG/OAUG 2006 Australian conference - database content

    The AUSOUG and OAUG committees are very excited to announce the Australian 2006 conference series is less than three months away. While our American neighbours are focusing on Oracle OpenWorld in October, and our UKOUG friends on their (extended!) November conference, Australians will not miss out with the largest Oracle user group conference in Australia to date. This year we're condensing our content into two key conferences, in Melbourne 2/3rd November and Perth 8/9th November, a East Coast to West Coast series of the best presentations by Australian and overseas Oracle talent.
    The Melbourne and Perth schedules are now available at: http://www.ausoug.org.au/2020
    We've attracted some great speakers this year. Following is a small extract of this year's speakers:
    • Connor McDonald member of the Oaktable, co-author of "Oracle Insight: Tales of the OakTable" and "Mastering Oracle PL/SQL: Practical Solutions"
    • Oracle Magazine Educator of the Year 2004 Penny Cookson, winner of best paper awards at 4 APAC OpenWorld .
    • Oracle Magazine PL/SQL Developer of Year 2004 award winner Marcel Kratochvil, also joint winner of the 1999 best paper at Oracle OpenWorld.
    • Anjo Kolk, well known for Oracle performance tuning, great supporter of the UKOUG, IOUG and Oracle OpenWorld, and a member of the Oaktable
    • Oracle Magazine DBA of the Year 2004 winner John MacAskill.
    • Mark Townsend, Senior Director of Database Product Management at Oracle.
    • Murali Vallath, author of "Oracle Real Application Clusters" and "Oracle 10g RAC Grid, Services and Clustering", President of the international RAC Special Interest Group.
    • and finally AUSOUG is very happy to announce the return of Oracle's very popular speaker Tim Blake to both Perth and Melbourne.

  • AUSOUG/OAUG 2006 Australian conference - JDeveloper content

    The AUSOUG and OAUG committees are very excited to announce the 2006 conference series is less than three months away. While our American neighbours are focusing on Oracle OpenWorld in October, and our UKOUG friends on their (extended!) November conference, Australians will not miss out with the largest Oracle user group conference in Australia to date. The Melbourne and Perth schedules are now available at: http://www.ausoug.org.au/2020
    In particular Australian JDeveloper users should be interested in the following presentations:
    • Chris Schalk, JDeveloper Principal Product Manager at Oracle Corporation co-author of "JavaServer Faces: The Complete Reference" and Java evangelist for Oracle's Application Server and JDeveloper will be presenting exclusively in Perth on "JDeveloper 10.1.3", "Lockdown! Securing your ADF Applications" and "Developing JavaServer Faces applications with Oracle". Can anybody say AJAX? But don't worry Melbourne because Oracle has kindly agreed to fly in Lynn Munsinger from the USA, Principal Product Manager in the JDeveloper development team at Oracle, specializing in EJB, TopLink, ADF, and ADF Faces and author of Oracle University courses, including, "Oracle10g: Build J2EE Applications".
    • Oracle Magazine Educator of the Year 2004 Penny Cookson, winner of best paper awards at 4 APAC OpenWorld will be presenting on "Old Forms programmers never die, they just switch to JDeveloper (a view of the ADF framework for Forms developers)"
    • In turn two local members Brenden Anstey and Ray Tindall will be presenting on "ADF Development Best Practices – Starting out with a new technology" and "Active Directory Integration - OID & AD in Harmony".
    That represents great support for Oracle and great JDeveloper content for developers.
    There are plenty of other speakers too, so checkout out website for the latest info: http://www.ausoug.org.au/2020

    I think this is a great opportunity to get face to face with my collegues in Oracle Product Management to get the inside track on the technologies and learn, not only how to use them, but where they are moving in the future...
    Best of luck with the event Chris.

    p.s. and of course there is a huge amount of JEE material being delivered at Oracle World as well if you can't make it to Australia.

  • How do I set miminum # of connections for pool with Oracle and Tomcat?

    Hi,
    I can't seem to find any attribute to initialize the number of connections for my connection pool. Here is my current context.xml file under my /App1 directory:
    <Context path="/App1" docBase="App1"
    debug="5" reloadable="true" crossContext="true">
    <Resource name="App1ConnectionPool" auth="Container"
    type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
    driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
    factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
    url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:oddjob"
    user="app1" password="app1" />
    </Context>
    I've been googling and reading forums, but haven't found a way to establish the minimum number of connections. I've tried all sorts of parameters like InitialLimit, MinLimit, MinActive, etc, with no success.
    Here is some sample code that I am testing:
    package web;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    import java.util.Properties;
    public class ConnectionPool {
    String message = "Not Connected";
    public void init() {
    OracleConnection conn = null;
    ResultSet rst = null;
    Statement stmt = null;
    try {
    Context initContext = new InitialContext();
    Context envContext = (Context) initContext.lookup("java:/comp/env");
    OracleDataSource ds = (OracleDataSource) envContext.lookup("App1ConnectionPool");
    message = "Here.";
         String user = ds.getUser();
    if (envContext == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No Context");
    if (ds == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No DataSource");
    if (ds != null) {
    message = "Trying to connect...";
    conn = (OracleConnection) ds.getConnection();
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.put("PROXY_USER_NAME", "adavey/xxx");
    if (conn != null) {
    message = "Got Connection " + conn.toString() + ", ";
              conn.openProxySession(OracleConnection.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME,prop);
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    rst = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT username, server from v$session where username is not null");
    while (rst.next()) {
    message = "DS User: " + user + "; DB User: " + rst.getString(1) + "; Server: " + rst.getString(2);
    rst.close();
    rst = null;
    stmt.close();
    stmt = null;
    conn.close(); // Return to connection pool
    conn = null; // Make sure we don't close it twice
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    } finally {
    // Always make sure result sets and statements are closed,
    // and the connection is returned to the pool
    if (rst != null) {
    try {
    rst.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    rst = null;
    if (stmt != null) {
    try {
    stmt.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    stmt = null;
    if (conn != null) {
    try {
    conn.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    conn = null;
    public String getMessage() {
    return message;
    I'm using a utility to repeatedly call a JSP page that uses this class and displays the message variable. This utility allows me to specify the number of concurrent web requests and an overall number of requests to try. While that is running, I look at V$SESSION in Oracle and occassionaly, I will see a brief entry for app1 or adavey depending on the timing of my query and how far along the code has processed in this example. So it seems that I am only using one connection at a time and not a true connection pool.
    Is it possible that I need to use the oci driver instead of the thin driver? I've looked at the javadoc for oci and the OCIConnectionPool has a setPoolConfig method to set initial, min and max connections. However, it appears that this can only be set via Java code and not as a parameter in my context.xml resource file. If I have to set it each time I get a database connection, it seems like it sort of defeats the purpose of having Tomcat maintain the connection pool for me and that I need to implement my own connection pool. I'm a newbie to this technology so I really don't want to go this route.
    Any advice on setting up a proper connection pool that works with Tomcat and Oracle proxy sessions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Well I did some more experiments and I am able to at least create a connection pool within my example code:
    package web;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    import java.util.Properties;
    public class ConnectionPool {
    String message = "Not Connected";
    public void init() {
    OracleConnection conn = null;
    ResultSet rst = null;
    Statement stmt = null;
    try {
    Context initContext = new InitialContext();
    Context envContext = (Context) initContext.lookup("java:/comp/env");
    OracleDataSource ds = (OracleDataSource) envContext.lookup("App1ConnectionPool");
    message = "Here.";
         String user = ds.getUser();
    if (envContext == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No Context");
    if (ds == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No DataSource");
    if (ds != null) {
    message = "Trying to connect...";
    boolean cache_enabled = ds.getConnectionCachingEnabled();
    if (!cache_enabled){
    ds.setConnectionCachingEnabled(true);
    Properties cacheProps = new Properties();
    cacheProps.put("InitialLimit","5");
         cacheProps.put("MinLimit","5");
    cacheProps.put("MaxLimit","10");
    ds.setConnectionCacheProperties(cacheProps);
              conn = (OracleConnection) ds.getConnection();
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.put("PROXY_USER_NAME", "adavey/xyz");
    if (conn != null) {
    message = "Got Connection " + conn.toString() + ", ";
              conn.openProxySession(OracleConnection.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME,prop);
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    //rst = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT 'Success obtaining connection' FROM DUAL");
    rst = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT user, SYS_CONTEXT ('USERENV', 'SESSION_USER') from dual");
    while (rst.next()) {
    message = "DS User: " + user + "; DB User: " + rst.getString(1) + "; sys_context: " + rst.getString(2);

    In my context.xml file, I tried to specify the same Connection Cache Properties as attributes, but no luck:
    <Context path="/App1" docBase="App1"
    debug="5" reloadable="true" crossContext="true">
    <Resource name="App1ConnectionPool" auth="Container"
    type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
    driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"
    factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
    url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:oddjob"
    user="app1" password="app1"
    ConnectionCachingEnabled="1" MinLimit="5" MaxLimit="20"/>
    </Context>
    These attributes seemed to have no effect:
    ConnectionCachingEnabled="1" ; also tried "true"
    MinLimit="5"
    MaxLimit="20"
    So basically if I could find some way to get these attributes set within the context.xml file instead of my code, I would be a happy developer :-)
    Oh well, it's almost Miller time here on the east coast. Maybe a few beers will help me find the solution I'm looking for.

  • Oracle Split Configuration - LinuxRH 4

    Hi, Oracle Gurus,
    We have purchased sun boxes with AMD64 and used them in Oracle Applications, a bunch of applications. The current solution is use 32bits version on Application tiers, that caused Database tier in 32 bits too. A waste of resources, at least we have 4CPU + 8G and 4G can be used only.
    Also 64 versions are supposed to be stable and powerful than 32 versions, as mentioned by Oracle.
    Now the Oracle Split Configuration came out since last June, but till now, it is under evaluation and test, no updated.
    My questions are:
    Is there someone who are using Oracle split configuration? and how do you like it? is there some issues, on either application or database side? Where is Oracle Develoment team, in west coast or east coast?
    Your reply will be appreciated very much.
    Hank

    I haven't done it but the metalink certify page for ebusiness says the following...

    IBM AIX Based Systems
    Linux x86
    Solaris Operating System SPARC
    Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003 (x86)
    When E-Business Suite (Forms, Reports, concurrent programs, etc.) are installed on a supported Application platform, the following additional platforms may be used for the Database Tier (this is called a "Split Configuration Database Tier" model):
    HP Alpha OpenVMS
    HP-UX Itanium
    IBM zSeries based Linux
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 (AMD64/EM64T)

  • Anyone from the West Coast get their iPhone 6/6+ tracking info yet??

    I preordered an iPhone 6 64GB gold and a iPhone 6+ 64GB silver on 9/12. Got my confirmation email couple minutes later with the location code W779001. Since then my order has not continued processing. I have read many people on the East Coast and other parts started receiving their tracking numbers yesterday, but I haven't seen anyone from the West Coast. Am I the only one? Still hoping for 9/19 delivery date.

    Ive also heard some people have received their tracking number. I ordered mine (iPhone 6 plus, 64gb, gold) at 12:11 am on 9/12, received confirmation email within minutes with a delivery date of 9/19. When I went to see the order status, it said its in process and hasn't changed since then, but the expected delivery date said 10/7. I just checked it again the other day and now it says "unable to give a date". Money has not been taken from my bank account either and Verizon customer service reps have no idea whats going on with it. Super annoying considering I am leaving town the 21st for 2 weeks. I can't imagine ordering mine at 12:11am was too late to receive one by the 19th. Ridiculous. I would of preordered elsewhere if I knew this.
