Easy DMS and object links

Hi
I have added cProjects object links from DMS. It works fine if I create an object link from cProjects, but if I add an object link from DMS there is no link created in cProjects. Ideas anyone??

Hi Camilla,
Regarding your description I would kindly ask you to check your
object link settings.
To grant that allways the currenct screens and authorizations were
called please maintain also the value "1" into the "Authorization"
column. For further informations on this maintainance please see the
attached note 375452. It's important that you not enter the mentioned
screen number wihtout the leading "1" as this number is added
automatically by the system (e.g. object MARA 1201 maintain like MARA
201). You can do this in customizing under:
Transaction SPRO
> Cross-Application-Component
    > Document Management
         > Control Data
             > Define screen for object links
If you need the dynpro number or object you will find all standard SAP
objects and their screen number in function module CV130 (Screens) by
transaction SE80. Please maintain all necessary SAP objects.

Hi,
I cannot create object links from within the EasyDMS SAP properties screen for a document. However if I edit the document using the SAP GUI and create object links there, I can view it through EasyDMS. Could somebody tell me what the issue could be

Since it does not show any errors how do I get to the short dump? Secondly I also notice that there is some other functionality eg drag and drop of multiple originals onto a DIR which does not work. When I try it with another SAP installation everything works perfectly. The installation which is giving me problems is an ECC 5.0 one. Any details on what components/interfaces/packages etc which must be on their? Maybe that is an issue.

Queries related to DMS and Archive link

Hi Experts,
1. Is it possible to link documents in MIGO or FB03 through Archive link with documents already stored via OAWD or CV01N.
2. Can we use any single transaction code for reporting purpose where we can find all the documents stored via DMS and Archive link.

Christoph already answered that question in regard to document info records.
Regarding documents from OAWD, your question is a bit surprising. The main idea of OAWD is to trigger a workflow for linking an external document to a SAP object (document in FB03 or whatever). This is done via ArchiveLink, so all documents linked via OAWD will appear in transactions like MIGO or FB03. Once more, please refer to the documentation:

Document in Easy DMS and SAP DMS is lock cannot be accessed

Hello Guru,
Document in Easy DMS and SAP DMS is lock cannot be accessed. when check in Easy DMS the document 123 excel file is not accessible cannot be open, it has an icon on pencil with red circle sign.
when check in SAP GUi, the padlock is unlock, file cannot be open as well with error (File C:\EasyDMS\SAP_400\PRE1234567890 could not be accessed.
how can we fixed this and unlock the document excel so that we can open it. Please advise. Thanks

based on your description it seems to me that this original file is currently checked out for editing. So maybe another user is
editing this file and so you cannot access it.
If no other user edits the file you can try to use the function 'Exit Edit mode' in the context menu of EasyDMS. This will checkin the file again and restore the last checked in version.

Easy DMS and original content versions

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to view and activate original content versions in Easy DMS? This is the same standard functionality as in SAP DMS. We are using eDMS 6.0 SP10 (Unicode)

Hello Tommy
If you have done configurations for content version, content versions of original file will be created irrespective of whether it is easy DMS or transactional DMS. You can not see content version directly in Easy DMS, you will have to open SAP GUI from easy DMS to see content versions in SAPGUI.

Easy DMS and workstation application

Hi all,
We are using Easy DMS. Each time we copy a file from e.g. my documents we need to choose the workstation application. As long as we only use Easy DMS I do not see the point of it... Is it possible to avoid? If is not? What do I need to customize to make it work properly? Directly from DMS when I try to display the file I get an error saying that this file does not have a program which can execute the function.

Hi Camilla,
please check SAP note 918039 and create the FM 'Z_EASYDMS_GETWS_APPLICATIONS'. Please follow exactly the mentioned steps in the note and then EasyDMS should take the settings from DC30 transaction in the backend automatically. So please create this function module and after activating it, the application should be selected automatically.
Please also reset the RFC Cache in EasyDMS.
Additionally please verify that in transaction DC30 the correct entries for the different file formats are maintained.

Cprojects and object links to other project phases

Hi experts,
Have anyone of you some ideas how to creating a object link to another phase in another project? Are there possibilites for enhancing the the type of objects link via a BAPI or something in cProjects 4.0?

Hi Camella,
You can try this in IMG activity
"Make Settings for the Linked SAP Objects". But you need to try copy an existing entry and change relevant tables parameters
I have done this for R/3 Transaction in cProjects 4.0 + ECC 6.0 and Iam sure it will work for Project Phase also

DMS and PO linking to output the documents

Hello Gurus,
I have issue where in the document from DMS is linked with the line item of the Purchase order.
While processing the output for PO the documents linked with the PO should also be sent . Can pleas someone suggest any way out .

This is a common requirement in a project by a client who does not understands the technical things.
This scenarion if you think in depth has technical limitations .
There are various factors that needs to decided before going in for solution.
1. If PO contains 100 line items whether system will be able to send all 100 application files to vendor.
2. If each PO line items has more than one application files in DIR.
3. If each PO line items has Original application files large in size.
This puts limitations on the developement. Because in any organization there are limitation to size of mail( Max 5 mb ). If we consider even 5 line items PO the Mail size would cross 5 mb size.
Now its upto client how he wants the solution ( Tailor made or Open TEXT). If he is ready to invest then "Open Text " solution can be thought. This in turn increases the TCO of the client.
So check with client the detail requirements and convience him not to go for such functionalities. At least I did that and avoided slipage of project cost and timeline.

Is there a limit on number of object links to DIR, and any impacts of this

Hello All,
Can you please let us know if there is any limit on the No of Object links to be maintained in the Object Link tab of DIR,
Our major Concern comes as there is One DIR logo / symbol, which is maintained in most of the Material Master around 1000s
and also the same DIR is used in all the Service and maintenance Notification as an Attachment, so the list of Object link in DIR Object link tab is going beyond control above 10000s,
i wanted to know if there is any limit on no of Object links to be maintained in DIR object links, and is there any impact on DMS functionality if the list is ever increasing,
( also can i know if there is any workaround that the DIR is only displayed going in to Material master or Notifications but the same is not listed in the DIR object links tab as here it is going on increasing,)

Thanks for the responses given, and providing a hint not to have many Object links, as it could be an performance issue going to the DMS DIR Object link TAB,
But in this particular case we are not assigning the Objectlinks going by the DMS Object links TAB, but it is done in other way round, going by the Equipment or Notification Screens,
There are few Health and safety document ( Which is created as a DIR in DMS) which needs to be assigned in Most of the Equipment and the new notifications created, and this document DIR is assigned from the Equipment and notification Screen,
And we may not be interested to go to the DIR to browse and Assign the Object Links, so as we do not frequently go and check the DIR or Use DIR Object link TAB for Object Link assignment will it in any ways cause performance Issue here??
And also as asked earlier can we have a one way attachment like the DIR is Visible in the Equipment or Notification Screen, but the DIR is not adding up the Equipment or Notification details in its Object links TAB, (by development or it is totally illogical to ask for)

Add New Object in a DMS Object Link

i am trying to create an object link to Service Entry Sheet. (tcode: ML81N, ESSR-LBLNI)
by sap instructions i did this step:
"You must create two new screens with the same number for the module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 .
The processing logic must follow that of screen 1204 in program SAPLVC130."
and this step:
Create function module OBJECT_CHECK_XXXX (XXXX = ESSR ) which i have copied from OBJECT_CHECK_EQUI .
I have done above step .
I created Screen For SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 with screen No 1272. give same flow logic of screen 1204.
I created Function Module OBJECT_CHECK_ESSR.
After this What I have to do for displaying ESSR object in DMS as Object Link.
Please Guide me as soon as possible.

Since I think you already followed the below steps :
1. In the standard system, there are already two special screens for the module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 for the linked SAP object.
You must create two new screens with the same number for the module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140. The processing logic must follow that of screen 1204 in program SAPLVC130.
2. Create function module OBJECT_CHECK_XXXX (XXXX = object name) If the object can be classified, this function module already exists .
Otherwise copy the function module for linking equipment DOCUMENT_CHECK_EQUI and change it as required for the new object.

you define the object link in DMS customizing
e.g.For EBAN maintain screen number 247 in "Maintain view for screens to DMS object links" Then link EBAN to your document type

Go to IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Document Management -> Control Data -> Maintain Screen for Object Link
Add the SAP objec and Screen
Go to IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Document Management -> Control Data -> Define Document Types
Choose the document type you want to add the object link
Define object link
and add object and screen number

In easy DMS, Search object ICON is not active for some SAP object like sale order, assect ,hr object but it is active for vendor, customer, wbs.

Disable or Deactivate Delete Button in SAP Easy DMS.

Dear All,
My client is using Easy DMS and is working fine. Now the issue is as soon as files become more in Private or Public folder he is Deleting Documents using DELETE Button which is available on the Tool Bar. Whereas if he uses Delete Document from Context Menu it shows Authorization is not given to delete the Document.
Is there any way to overcome this by Disabling or Deactivating Delete Button on the Toolbar.

DMS - QM Notification link

Dear All,
I have configured the document type for Quality Notification document and assign the objects and object link also. I have created a document throough CV01n and assign the Notification number in the object link. but when i tried to assign the document to the notification there is no document type is appearing in the document type box.
what setting is remainnig?

Is Working with Folders in EASY DMS only

Hi DMS Gurus,
1) Is Working with Folder a Special feature of Easy DMS and not much use if we donu2019t go for specifically working with Easy DMS,
2) Can Easy DMS and Normal DMS work simutaniously, ie.. can both be implemented simultaneously and used parallely when and where each ones need is raised.
3) What r the limitations of going with EASY DMS as compared to normal DMS,
like Working with Folders can be configured with normal DMS implementations also?

Hi Kumar,
Easy DMS is an external software which can be installed.
In Easy DMS working/managing with the folders is the great facility which is not overall possible in standard DMS.
Easy DMS fetches the backend configuration done in standard SAP. Depending upon the user's comfortability Easy DMS is used,if user is not comfortable with the standard sap screen then he can use Easy DMS where all functions like standard DMS can be used.
Maintaining folders is a option for which Easy DMS is used very regularly.
Configurations watever done once in standard DMS is applicable for both standard DMS and Easy DMS.
In Easy DMS particular authorizations can be provided for particular folders.
