Easy iTunes Transfer

So there is a simple easy way to transfer your iTunes Library. come with music apps podcast and everything else with in itune including the playlist and genuis mix adn what not.
DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PUT MUSIC ON THE NEW COMPTUER YOU GOT INTO ITUNES
and bacisally will not take long at all only the copying adn pasting is was goign to do it.
and it works going from Window to Mac and Mac to window... INST THAT AWESOME.
So heres how it works.......
1 > First connect your external HD YAY
2 > now you should see th external HD show up ont he desktop or with in Finder under the heading devices
3> Open finder
4> One the menu bar at the top og the screen Clikc Go and from the drop down Chose Home
5> Go into MUsic folder and you will see the iTunes Folder
6> Select the itune folder and from teh menu at the top of the screen Click Edit and Choose Copy
^> navigate to the exterbal HD.
either BY
double clickingthe external HD icon ont eh desktop OR on the left side finder ( the blueygreybar) under device click ont he external HD.
Once your seleceted ont eh external HD you just want to Paste the folder.
7> on the menu bar at the top of the screen Choose edit > then Paste Item
Then it will copy depending on the size of the library this coupld take a bit... So lets listen to some music * dum de dum do da de dum *
WOOT its done
Okay so now you want to eject teh drive ( unmount it ) by draggint eh external Hd icon to the trash > dont worry this isnt going to delete anyhting
Now plug the external HD into the new comptuer .. YAY
> shoudl show up ont eh desktop or finder just like the other cmptuer.
But now the process is Reverse.
> So...
Clikc on the external HD > Highlight the ituen folder and fromt he menubar at the top of the screen choose edit > copy iTunes
now on the menu bar at the top of the screen click go > then choose Home
Now go into Music folder
Now your going to want to make sure itune is NOT open... i reapeat NOT open
Best way to do this is go tot he little apple icon at the top left hand conner of the screen adn choose Force Quit and in the window  if you see itune > click on its name adn at the bottom of the window choose force quit adn yes your sure you want to force quit and close the window,
Now in the music folder your going to see there is already an iTunes folder but thast okay

Choose replace.
Once you do this it will start copying over..... and this might take a bit depedning on your library....
After this is done......

  • Why wont songs purchased from itunes transfer to my media files on pc?

why wont songs purchased on itunes transfer to music library on pc?

I'm a bit confused by your question.
You say you have synced with your iMac, and that you have match turned on. If match is turned on you can't sync music any more.
Are the purchases new, or old ones?
Can you confirm that match is turned on on both the iMac and the iPhone.

  • How easy to transfer FCP 10 project to avid and premiere

If I edit in FCP10 and need polishing help with someone who uses Avid or Premiere, how easy to transfer? I especially need help cleaning up audio.
    Thanks, Donna

Short answer- not easy at all. Long answer- Avid- you would probably need to export the finished piece and they would take it in as a single clip. Premiere- you would need at least Xto7 utility- http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/Xto7/
That being said- if you needed to clean up audio- FCP has a lot of those tools already such as background noise removal and plugins from Logic, etc.

  • Issues with NMT and iTunes transfer.

Having major problems getting Nokia Multimedia Transfer to work.  I am using:
    N82
    16GB memory card
    NMT 1.4
    iTunes 8.0.2
    Mac OSX 10.5.6
10GB of music files (2000+ tracks)
    USB connection
    Problems:
I get no N82 device folder in iTunes no matter what order I connect and start things.  "Enable iTunes Transfer" is selected in Device Settings.  I can see a list of iTunes folders and playlists, select them and click Start iTunes Transfer.
The transfer appears to be happening but it is extremely slow and freezes intermittently. When I restart the transfer it spends up to an hour "Getting list of files on device".  It then spends another hour or so deleting files with names like TMPxxxxx.$$$.  I have let the transfer run overnight (8 hours) and it has only transferred about half of the content before freezing again.
Of the tracks that have transferred, when I try to add them to the Music Player using Refresh, each track takes about 10 seconds to add.  With 2000+ tracks I'm looking at 5.5 hours to load the Player.  Is this right?
When I start the Music Player it is taking 30-60 seconds to load and is extremely slow to navigate around; 30-60 second lags after each button press.  In all other respects the phone is fast and responsive.
Is this typical of this device and the associated software?  If it is then I'll be sending the phone back as music playout was one of my key purchasing criteria.  At this rate I wouldn't even rate this as a "toy" let alone a serious alternative to a dedicated MP3 player!

    Hi,
Thank you for your valuable feedback.
Please follow the steps below and check if it works.
-Open HDD-Library-Application Support-Find and Delete the entire Nokia Multimedia Transfer folder.
-Then navigate to users-Library-Application Support -Nokia Multimedia Transfer (delete) -Applications-Nokia Multimedia Tranfer-Control Click-Show package contents.
    -Delete the entire contents folder.
-Make sure the trash is empty.
-Download and install NMT again from www.nokia.com/mac
    -Now connect the device
-Go to NMT> Tools and Settings > Check for updates now
    -Reboot Mac and then transfer.
Note: Using a 16Gb is officially not supported by the device, therefore the device might perform slow. Please check the device specification from the link provided below. http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/N82
    Hopefully this helps
    Regards

  • HT3819 When I sync my iPod some of my purchases from iTunes transfer, but some do not.  When I try to drag the songs onto the iPod icon it shows the 'crossed out' symbol and won't move them.

When I sync my iPod some of my purchases from iTunes transfer, but some do not.  When I try to drag the songs onto the iPod icon it shows the 'crossed out' symbol and won't move them.  I've tried synching from multiple computers that are all connected with home sharing but it still didn't do the trick.

Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

  • IPhone to iTunes transfer

    Hello,
As I still have a windows PC it was (after 2 years) time to delete everything and reinstall all my programs. So I did.
Now I want to copy all my music on my iPhone back to iTunes, but for some reason I can not find how to do that, should this not be easy to do?
have a windows vista PC with iTunes and an iPhone 3gs with iOs 4.0
    any ideas?
    T335i

The music sync is ONE WAY - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: Without syncing -File>Transfer Purchases
The iphone does not support disk mode so you cannot move non itunes purchased music.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computers files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use this to put everything back.
Certainly you did not re-install your software without backing up.

  • Why does iTunes transfer my entire library of music every time I transfer one album or song to my iPhone?

I've lately been having this issue with my iPhone. When I go to transfer a newly purchased album or song from my iTunes library on my Macbook Pro to my iPhone 5 my ENTIRE LIBRARY is transferred to my iPhone. I have it checked so I can manually manage my music and videos in the settings in iTunes when I plug in my iPhone but it still transfers everything. It's really frustrating and I would like for it to not do that. My iPhone doesn't have enough memory to save all 3,000 songs on my phone unless if I had no apps or texts or emails or anything. Is there anyway to get this to stop happening? I've read that if you uncheck all the songs you don't want it won't transfer them but is that the only solution? Its really frustrating having to redelete all the music I don't want off my phone every time it does this.

Go to the music tab, select sync music, select the music to sync and sync.
Have a look at the manual:

  • ITunes transfer from old pc to new pc

Hi, I have not sync my iphone to my old pc for the past 6 month. But my old pc just died last night. I am able to get back my iTunes backup from the old pc but the data inside is the backup i sync 6 month ago. So my question is if i transfer the backup from my old PC to my new PC and then sync my iphone with the new PC, will the itune in my new PC overwrite my iphone with these data i sync 6 month back OR my iphone will backup the latest data into the new pc itunes?

    From your Old computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
    Full Details here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

Couldn't find another category for some reason, hope this will be ok.

  • PB G4 to MacBook Pro iTunes Transfer

G4 screen blew out and is no longer viable, I am able to Hot sync from G4 to MB Pro.
Transferred my music to the MB Pro but when I go to Sync with iTunes on the MB Pro it says I am not hooking up to MY iTunes and it will remove the data I have. How do I transfer my info to the new Laptop not just the Music?

    tgs102002 wrote:
Consolidate just brought a few tunes from the MBP into the G4 not transferring the entire library to the MPB.
odd. in order for this to happen, you would have to have pointed iTunes to the G4 rather than the MBP
I can't disconnect from the G4 when iTunes is Open and when I close and reopen i get the exclamations points next to the tunes from the G4 but no tunes.
i'm stumped. the only other thing i can think of is
    a) get an external USB drive
    b) hook that up to your MBP
    c) connect G4 and MBP with a firewire cable, boot the G4 in _*Target Disk Mode*_
    d) using the finder, copy the iTunes music folder from the G4 to the external HD
    e) shut down the G4
    f) option launch iTunes on the MBP and choose to create a new library
    g) repopulate the new library with the content from the external by option dragging the folder containing the media files from the external into an open iTunes window. option drag whatever content is already on the MBP, too.
    h) in preferences > advanced, make sure iTunes is pointed to your internal iTunes music folder and both +keep iTunes media folder organized+ and +copy files+ ... are checked
    i) consolidate your library
all your ratings and playcounts will be lost but above should put an end to your troubles.

  • Playlists grayed out/not available after iTunes transfer

I recently had Best Buy transfer our old computer files to the new computer including iTunes. I can view my playlists in iTunes but they are grayed out and I can't seem to access them or play them. I do still have my original playlists on my iPod but again, cannot access them on iTunes. Any ideas?

OK, realized I had not noticed the "downward" arrow next to the Apple TV device. It was displaying the list of playlists on the Apple TV, which of course can't be accessed on the computer and hence are grayed out. I have a long list of playlists, and just had not scrolled far enough down to get to the playlists on the computer. This is potentially confusing, Apple should differentiate these lists a little better.

  • ITunes Transfer

What I wanted to do was transfer the "iTunes" folder on my old PC to my ext. hdd and go into iTunes on my new pc and change the "iTunes music location" pathway to the ext. hdd. After a lot of research i've found that it is not that simple and you could really screw up your library if it's not done right.
I am currently looking several methods for making the transfer, one of which involves the use of software called TuneSwift.
My concern right now is a situation with my old and new pc that may cause some problems when I try to make the transfer. My old pc has itunes 8.2.1.6 and my new pc has itunes 10.2. I can't upgrade my old pc to 10.2 due to some system limitations. Both pc's are XP Pro.
    My Questions are:
    1. Would this difference in iTunes versions cause some problems when I try to transfer my library and is there a way to work around it?
    2. I have a lot of uploaded cd's in my library and would they be transfered with my library?
I apologize for the lengthy post but I am greatly concerned about the transfer and would like to keep my library intact as much as possible
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated! Thank-You, Michael

Copy the entire /My Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /My Music/ on new computer.
Yes, that is all you need to do. It is that simple.

  • I heard Lyon won't work with Quicken, what software is taking it's place and will it be easy to transfer data?

I have read reports Lyon won't support Quicken.  I use Quicken all the time.  what finance software is taking it's place/recommended and will data transfer be seamless and easy?

You have that backwards. Quicken will not work with Lion, and Intuit will not produce a compatible program. They suggest you switch to Quicken Elements.
There are quite a large number of finance software available. You will find them at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads
I believe a good candidate is Mind Your Own Business - MYOB, but there are many others. You will have to find one that suits your particular needs best.
The Quicken you now have is able to export some of its data files to .csv format that can be used with other software that cannot read the standard Quicken file format.

  • Strange iTunes Transfer Problem

    Hey all, first time poster.
Not sure if this is the correct section for this, so I apologize in advance if it isnt.
Currently running iTunes 7.5, but the problem I am having existed prior to upgrading to 7.5.
I have 1200 or so songs (mp3 format) and 19 tv shows i purchased from the iTunes store. I was originally using an 8gb ipod nano (2nd gen) and recently purchased an 80gig ipod classic. iTunes automatically recognizes the ipod classic or nano when they are connected to the pc and automatically begin to sync when connected.
The strange issue I am having is that iTunes did not transfer all the tv shows, only 15/19 to the ipod classic. All episodes are checked for transfer in iTunes, so i'm not sure why they havent all transferred over to the classic.
A second problem I am having is that even though I have album artwork in iTunes for every single album I have, only SOME songs show album artowrk, and others do not. For example, the album artwork will display for one song, and not on another song, both from the same cd. This issue is happening both on my nano and my ipod classic.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!

    jusion,
This can happen with shortcuts created by Windows installer sometimes with iTunes or other programs.
You should be able to create a new shortcut to iTunes.exe in Program Files, put it where you want, and delete the ones you don't want.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.
