Easy one for you experts hopefully

I currently use an AEBS / AE with an x-modem on BT internet, BT are rubbish so I'm switching to O2 and They have sent me the O2 wireless box, I want to use this as my modem and router and effectively have the AEBS acting as a wireless access point on the network, how do you use it as such, do you have to disable the dhcp thingy so it just looks like an ethernet client to the router and if I do, can I still use the gigabit ports on the AEBS to hang a NAS disc off etc. also, would I connect the AEBS to the O2 modem/router using the WAN or LAN port on the AEBS
sorry if this is all simple stuff but I'm a doctor, not network engineer..:-)

You would connect the WAN port of the AEBS to one your O2 modem/router's LAN port. You would then need to run AirPort Utility and under the internet tab towards the bottom you would want the AEBS to run in bridged mode instead of sharing a public IP address. And yes, you would still be able to use the NAS disc off the AEBS.

Just took my vintage 2009 Macbook pro that was having trouble running Lion back down to Snow Leopard. (formatted drive and reloaded SL) How do I get iPhoto, Garage Band, Imovie etc.... in other words the apps that came installed on my 2009 machine when I bought it. They aren't part of the SL install.
No need to be concerned about my user data/settings/other apps etc... I migrated them over to a new Macbook pro I just purchased using a Time Machine backup. (worked wonderfully) but as I'm sure you know moving anything from a Lion TM backup to a SL machine isn't possible. I've heard there are ways but it's complicated and well all I really want is my 2009 machine to be like it was new and I'll I need for that is what I believe is the iLife stuff (again iPhoto, Garageband, iMovie etc...)

Thanks for the quick reply wjosten! I didn't get any disks with my computer. I bought it new from the online apple store.. I still have the original box it came in, user guide etc...it came loaded with Leopard but no disks. I had the SL disk as I purchased it to upgrade ( I know I could have downloaded it for free but I wanted a disk for the exact reason as for how I just used it to reinstall SL in case I needed to someday).  In fact, I just bought a 2012 MacBook Pro, picked it up at my local Apple store and it did not come with any disks, same as before, it came with power cord, user guide, cleaning cloth, but no disks. I can understand that apple saves money, time, resources and environmental material by not including disks, but they should make it easy to download these things when you are in trouble and not charge even a small fee. I paid for these apps and merely want to reinstall them on the same machine they orignally came with.

Hi ya'll.... here is an easy question for all you Dreamweaver
gurus out there. I want to write my website to a CD so that anyone
with any web browser can read it. I created it in Dreamweaver. How
    do I accomplish this?

If it's a static site, get yourself a copy of AutoRun CD.
You burn two files to your CD along with your site files. One
    is the
autorun.exe file. The other is an inf text file where you
    specify which file
on the CD should load first.
    Probably index.html.

    Hi
If this is a H.323 gateway, you can use a translation rule on the gateway like below :
    translation-rule 1
    Rule 1 ^.% 9
then apply to the dial-peer going to CUCM
    dial-peer voice 1000 voip
    incoming called-number .
    destination-pattern 4...
    translate-outgoing calling 1
    session target ipv4: X.X.X.X
For a MGCP gateway, you would achieve this on the CUCM

  • Here's a different one for you...

I have an original iphone which i have had very little, if any problems. I updated to the 2.0.2 software that came out recently and everything was once again going fine. Here's where it gets interesting.
Two days ago, the bottom row of icons (phone, mail, safari, ipod) stopped responding. All of the other icons on both screen pages work fine. The "slide to unlock" works fine. I have noticed when I go to settings, the bottom icon doesn't respond in any screen either. Luckily, I can still use the phone through contacts and can still receive calls, but with no luck using the "end call" button.
I've read several of the posts in these discussions and have tried the reset, hard reset, restore, reinstall of 2.0.2. I know I'm not crazy, these icons don't work! Anyone out there ever had this happen or have any suggestions?

I would suggest an appointment at the Genius Bar and see what they can do for you.

  • Volume, Dissolves, 50% - An easy one for most of you I'm sure.

Hi everyone. First time poster here. I hope someone can help me out. I'm a wedding videographer.
I need to know a few things that will speed up the process of editing a little bit. I'm editing SD footage with Final Cut Pro on a fast G5.
I have 30 four-second clips on the timeline and I want to reduce the volume on all of the clips to -12 in one go. Is this possible? I don't want to have to keep on doing them all manually together?
Let's say I have a similar sequence of shots later on in the timeline. This time, I want to make all of the short clips a speed of 50%, in one go, instead of having to do it all manually, one by one. It's very time-consuming this way. Well, it takes two minutes, but I'd rather not do it.
Also, if there are simple one or two second dissolves between all of these short clips -- how do I go and take away all of the dissolves in one go, so it's just straight cuts?
    Appreciate the help.
Message was edited by: Roman Bridger

    Hi Shane
I did this and it's selecting ALL of the dissolves on the timeline. I wasn't thinking that far ahead.
I'm doing a highlights sequence at the end of a wedding DVD with footage that is copied and pasted into the end of the timeline from elsewhere in the project. This is the reason why I want to get rid of the dissolves and other transitions, so I can start editing this piece fresh. I suppose I could open a new timeline and do it in that.
I need ALL of the transitions to go, if possible, including Dip to Color Dissolves etc. If it's not possible to do all of the transitions in one go, I can do it in two. However, I'd like to be able to do all of this on the one timeline. For example, if I do it the way you said above, I will end up deleting previous dissolves in the timelines (during the speeches, dancing, ceremony etc).
    Any ideas? Anyone? Thanks!

    if (CDateTime (2007, 07, 31, 00, 00, 00)-{Nameadd.Start Date})<365 then "Annualized since Inception - " else "Since Inception - "
the above formula works just fine.... but I want to show the actual start date referenced in nameadd.start date at the end of the text, which grows and shrinks.... but I cannot figure out how to add this, since it keeps telling me it should be a string???
this is what I tried and does not work:
    if (CDateTime (2007, 07, 31, 00, 00, 00)-{Nameadd.Start Date})<365 then "Annualized since Inception - " + {Nameadd.Start Date} else "Since Inception - " + {Nameadd.Start Date}
How can I add my datetime field to end of the resultant text?  should be easy, but I cant get it.

  • This is probably an easy one for some of you [SOLVED]

Basically, I have some scripts that sudo netcfg <profile> that I have  a launcher menu setup for in my KDE panel.
The scripts work fine.  They are just bash scripts.  What would be nice is if I could get some visual feedback on the script running, like maybe call open a konsole terminal, run the script, then exit the konsole terminal.  I'm just not sure how to make that happen.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Last edited by d_logan (2010-04-25 20:23:18)

Sure, the command for the launcher should be something like this:
    konsole -e /path/to/bash/script
You may need to put a sleep or 'press enter to continue' read at the end of the script if it just runs and exits.  The -e option causes konsole to execute your command and then exit the terminal.

  • Here's a new one for you

Been having nothing but problems with idvd 08 in the past couple of days. The old won't open problem. Did the usual suggested fixes including a new user account. Also did "Old Toad's" preference fix. Can now open idvd but when I go to an existing project and open it, I get the first page menus and nothing else so try to reload the movie into the project and it kicks it back out(??).
Do I need to re-install idvd 08 and if so, what prefs etc do I delete?
Also one other question . . . if I have a project that exceeds the 4.2 capacity, can I burn it on a dual layer using the dual layer setting to accommodate the size of the file?
thanks in advance for any input

so try to reload the movie into the project and it kicks it back out(??).
Check to see if the movie you wish to import is supported by iDVD. This is from Help:
_Video and image formats that work with iDVD_
You can use these movie and graphic formats in iDVD:

Most video or image files supported by QuickTime (see the list of unsupported QuickTime formats below)

    16:9 widescreen formats

AAC, MP3, and AIFF audio files

Any format from iMovie: DV, high-definition video (HDV), MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-4 SD, MPEG-4 HD, and AVCHD
High definition video is converted to work with the format of your project. iDVD supports using 16:9 widescreen video; therefore, when your DVD plays on a DVD player that supports widescreen format, the footage appears in its original aspect ratio.
The following video and image formats are not supported in iDVD:

    Copyrighted or protected videos.

Movies saved in thousands of colors using the “none” compression setting in iMovie.

48-bit color images (16 bits per color). To use source files in one of these formats in iDVD, save them in a supported format.

Aurora uncompressed files. For best results, export Aurora clips as DV-format video before importing them into iDVD.

QuickTime VR, MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, Flash, streaming or encrypted movies, or QuickTime spanned movies. You can’t add MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files to an iDVD project because they don’t contain standard video tracks.

QuickTime Fast Start movies. (Fast Start movies are intended for Internet playback.) When saving a QuickTime movie for use with iDVD, click the Options button in the QuickTime Export dialog and make sure that the “Prepare for Internet Streaming” checkbox is not selected.

Please could you tell me what would be the AS to make my
button. When clicked show text in another frame. I've been on
various tutorials. Playing with flash CS for two days now &
    feel dead thick.
    Thanks in advance.

Not quite sure what you men by 'another frame' but to make a
    button you
should draw your graphic, then turn it into a MovieClip and
    give it an
instance name such as 'myButton'. Then, on the main timeline
    you would put
    code like so:
    myButton.onRelease = function(){
    someOtherClip.gotoAndStop("pic");
If you have another clip, with an instance name of
    'someOtherClip' then it
will goto and stop on the frame labeled 'pic' when the button
    is released.

  • New company requirements - a really good one for the experts

What is the quickest and easiest way to stop trading as one company and start trading as a new company, under the same company code. We want to retain all the history of the customers, vendors, etc.. but not their balances. We want to start with zero balances in the new company. This has to be done very quickly so not enough time to create a new company code?
Any suggestios or if you require additional information please let me know.

    Hello,
You can transfer all customers, vendors and G/L account balance amount to dummy G/L account. After transfering operation, you can see all customers, vendors and G/L account balance is zero. Then you should clear all customers and vendors open line items. After this, please check all accounts balance with using F.08 report.
Then you should post new opening balance for all G/L accounts, vendors and customers.
I think, this is the one way without using new company code.
    Regards,
    Burak

    Just a question,
What was so disastrous with the base64 encoding?
If you are leaving the encoding of your file as 8bit you may run into issues with maximum line lengths imposed by SMTP standard of 1000 bytes (including the trailing two byte CRLF). I may be grasping at straws here, but if your Access generated PDF has data that exceeds the 1000 byte limit (998 bytes excluding the CRLF) you may be running into data corruption issues when the SMTP standard either truncates or breaks your long line to insert the the required CRLF characters.

  • An easy question for you (I presume)

    Hi,
Within a couple of week from now, I will install the latest version of OAS and OAS Portal to my client. They're already using the latest version of discoverer. It's a Linux platform and they access the database (with discoverer) using windows desktop.
I'm wondering how long, according to your experience, I would have to plan on the installation ?
Thanks in advance for your help !!

Lately there have been different "point releases" of OracleAS, some of which are aimed at delivering certain new middleware services or features. These releases (e.g. 10.1.3.1.x) does not necessarily include each and every possible component of AS.
One way of getting an overview of which components are included in a release of AS, is the download pages (start there and see previous, and perhaps newer, releases)
Portal Concepts, including a high level architectural view, can be found here. Remaining books of AS 10.1.2 in the Documentation Library.
OID, in short, is Oracle's implementation of a LDAP v3 directory service. It is an essential part of Infrastructure services, that serves much of the other parts of the AS platform and applications.
Make sure you take some good amount of time for finding out the clients actual needs and resources, analyzing needs and coming up with a suitable solution and plan...

  • Transferring TS files to a PC? One for the Experts.

    Right, here we go.
    1. I'm using iMovie4 to burn DVDs, using the PAL compression setting and the standard single layer burner in the Mac G4.
    2. Coincidentally, I've just bought a Dual-Layer DVD burner for my PC.
    3. The Dual-Layer burners that are available for Macs apparently have problems when connected to my type of Mac, (a G4). Also, they cost a bunch.
    4. I thought it would be a good idea if I could copy the uncompressed video files that I make on my Mac, to my PC, where I can burn them to DVD with my Dual-Layer burner without any compression, thereby getting the best possible quality. I know there is a compression setting under the "Share" option which allows for no compression at all.
I believe you can't just connect a Mac and a PC together to transfer data from a Mac HDD to a PC HDD.
Question: Are the video files that are made on a Mac with iMovie, the same as and compatible with a PC? Also, would it be possible to copy those uncompressed video files on to an external hard drive using the Mac, and then import them to a PC to burn them with Nero to a dual-layer disk?
    Thanks.

did you try to connect your new burner to your Mac...?
    anyhow:

well, that is a everyday process in many companies, called a Local Area Network, LAN.. only problem is: a Mac does read/write PC stuff, a PC does NOT have direct access to a Mac's drive... but establishing a LAN, the Mac translates everything (PCs can be so dumb...;-) ) you just need a ethernet cable plus some settings on the PC...

    compression:
the "no compresion at all" is dv in iM, which is supported byPCs, ... BUT! iM puts any content into a socalled .mov container... you need to install Quicktime For Windows to make the PC accept such containers (they prefer .avi); or you need QTpro, to strip of the container and get a clean .dv file..
    happy networking..
