Easy set up preferences for Canon Legria HV40

Dear all in Cyberspace,
I have a Canon Legria HD Video-recorder but I am having difficulty in choosing the correct preset for editing in Final Cut Pro 7. Does anyone know if I need to use "HDV 1080i50" or HDV 1080i60 either with or without "Firewire Basic" (I am using firewire but I don't know how basic it has to be!) or use HDV 1080p24 or any other preset eg from the plethora of PAL presets?
Cheers, Confused.

Most likely you need to use the 1080i50 preset if you're in Australia.

  • Capturing with Premiere Pro CS5 & Canon Legria HV40

    Hello everyone,
I have an issue trying to capture footage from my Canon Legria HV40. My desktop operates with Windows 7 / 64bit and I use a firewire port when attempting to capture from the DV cassette on the Canon Legria HV40. After opening Premiere Pro 5 (not a trial version) I connect my camera via all the correct ports and open the capture window in the software. After setting up all my preferences for the capturing process the software recognises the camera and I am able to operate the camera from my desktop (fast forward, rewind, play etc...).
The issue starts at this point. When i press "Tape" or "Play" then "Record" to start the capturing process the camera kicks into action. However the software does not record anything from the camera.
Does anyone have any suggestions or have they come accross this issue before. Any help would be appreciated.

    MKoffy Hi,
It works just fine here, same set up, but with CS5.5.2 not older version.(5.5.1 or 5.5 did not work), other contributers spoke of a "LEGACY" driver?, I think Harm Millard he may know more than I do. We are PAL, the camera obviously works, make sure you  have camera set at 1920 x 1080 i.And the same setting in PP, however PP should automatcally set that for you.
In fact when Exporting to Tape it is amazing and starts the camera with out having the record button executed., it (the HV40 is Anamorphic at 1440 x 1080 (the limitation for Pro tape) and will record at Progressive, the pixels are rectangle not 1.0  , but the output is i). Do not save clips to another DRIVE.It is best in the RAID set up. according to Canon Specs it records at HDV 1080/50i , 1080/25i (PAL) These settings must match the set up in Premiere Pro 5.5.2 exactly.I do not set  IN or Out points, it might have been a good thing to stripe the tape in the first place as it will recognise the Indexing numbering better that way.
I must add the quality of the Export even to Blu-ray astounded me. Nearly as good as the Canon 5D Mark II 1920 x 1080p but, that was from a CF card.
    Good luck
Ps. Frankly the Premiere Pro CS5.5.2 surprised me when it recognises all that when it went to work. Because when you used Premiere Pro 1.5.1 everthing was manual, well nearly.

how to set raw format  for canon powershot  a1100 is ? ,,according to the specs online it can.

It requires the Canon Hacker's Developement Kit (CHDK). It runs off of your SD card and does not harm your camera. Download a program called Stick-
    http://zenoshrdlu.com/stick/stick.html
Follow the directions and you will be able to shoot in RAW along with some other deatures not available on your camera previously.

  • Setting Default Preferences for All Users in Crystal Reports Server 2008 v1

We are currently looking to set the default preferences in the CMC for all of our users.
I did locate this page Link: [How to set default preferences for all users in Infoview 3.1/CRS 2008]
The first part of the thread did seem promising but I am unable to find the sample .jsp code that people recommended.
I would assume that this scenario is common enough that someone knows a way to set universal preference defaults.
    Thank you

I thought I could just run it too but when I attempt to I get a Windows Script Host error:
    Script: C:\User Prefs.vbs
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
    Error: Expected statement
    Code: 800A0400
    Source: Microsoft VBScript compilation error.
I noticed the first most line seems to be markup for a web interface though I am not familiar with vbs so I may be wrong.  I used the publishing wizard to put the script on the CMC to attempt to run it through the CMC but it still does not work.

  • Setting software preference for file types

    Hi all
Can someone please tell me how you set a preference for different file types? For example, I want all .avi files to play using VLC player and not Quicktime. However, my computer automatically wants to use Quicktime. How do I change this? I have looked in Preferences and couldn't see an option.
    Thanks
    Steven

Select an .avi file via the Finder and use Get Info for the file.
At Open With, select the VCL player and below "use this application to open all documents like this", select Change All.

  • Save one set of preferences for home, one for office?

When I take my MBP to the office, I have a different monitor and a different mouse, so I change the Mouse (tracking speed) preferences and Display (resolutions) preferences every time I go to the office, and then change them back when I get home.
Is there some way I can save one entire set of Preferences for the Office, and one for Home, and then switch between them with just one click?
Also, is there some way the MBP can recognize when a different monitor is plugged in and always go to the preferred resolution for that monitor?

I'm not sure of whether these applications handle everything you want to control by location, but you might check the suggestion in the second message of this thread:

  • How do I set Premiere preferences for all users - University lab machine?

I am setting up an editing suite for our University which has a "per machine" Creative Cloud licence. It is a PC installation. This machine will be used by a class of students who will log in with their own credentials. I need to set the preferences for Premiere (video output, workspace layout, default drives etc) so that it will be the same for all users logging in since we want a consistent setup for teaching purposes and dont want to have to help each student set up so that it shows correctly on the monitors. Is there a way of saving this setting as the default for every user?
The most important one is the preferences - Playback in order to set up the second monitor.

Hopefully you did manage to do it.

  • Is there a way to set a preference for image resolution in PSE10?

Once I transfer image files from the camera to the Organizer (PSE10), they are listed in the information panel window as having a resolution of 180.  I use the printer  more than the internet for these files, so I really want the resolution to be 300 or above, and would like to set a preference to that effect.  I know that I can resize them individually, or by a group, but I'd like to get the resolution set properly in the first place rather than adding yet antoher setp in my post processing efforts.  I am assuming that the resolution is set by PSE10 because I can't find anywhere in the camera's (Canon Powershot SX40 HS) user manual that mentions that the camera sets a resolution.  Is there some way that I can adjust the resolution that PSE10 assigns the images when they are imported into the Organizer?  I'm using Windows 7 with 12GB Ram.  Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for the info.  I certainly appreciate it.  I’ve been looking everywhere I could think of for how the resolution gets to be 180, and couldn’t find it.  I wish they’d have something in their manual about that.  Your info helps tremendously.  Thanks again..

  • Are there lenses for Canon Legria HF M52?

I was wondering if there are lenses portable for the Legria HF M52?
I've been searching on the web for quite a long time, but can't really find what I'm looking for.
Every website that looks like selling lenses for the HF M52 seem rather untrustful.
I'm not looking for any particular lense.
    Can somebody help me?
Btw, I'm new here. So please excuse me if this question has been asked before.

I guess those programs are intented for outgoing connections, not incoming connections?
Well, anyways, I managed to solve the problem. Just summing up in case others meet the same problem:
    - Went to Apple Store and bought/installed "OS X Server".
    - Followed the install wizard for the OS X Server.
    - Under "FTP" in OS X Server, turned "On".
    - Under sys prefs/sharing; make sure "Sharing" is activated (which already had been done in my case).
    - Add folder, e.g. "Movies", and enable "read/write" for "everybody" (already done in my case).
    - Back to the OS X Server; changed share to "Movies".
(you can change share options in OS X Server as well, the same way as under sys prefs.).
    - Now over to the Canon camcorder;
         - Use the IP address for the Mac as the FTP server. Port 21.
         - Set up username/password as for the Mac admin account (not sure if required though).
         - Target folder just set to "/" (files transferred directly to "Movies").
With this setup, both AVCHD/MP4 movies were transferred easily to my mac.

  • How to set default preferences for an enterprise rollout installation?

How do I establish my own default skin, color scheme and canvas size for an enterprise-wide rollout of X2008 SP3?
I have found the Xcelsius.ini file in the root install directory (C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius).
If I change the skin value in this file to Nova, Xcelsius correctly sets the skin to Nova when running the app.  But it completely ignores my changes to width, height, and colorScheme.
Is there some other location where these preferences are stored?
Also, where are my custom color schemes stored?  I would like to include those in my enterprise-wide rollout as well.
    Thanks!
    Chris

I found my own answer to this question.  The only xcelsius.ini file that seems to matter is the one in the user's Application Data folder under C:\Documents and Settings.  Also, any custom color schemes are stored there as well.
So for our enterprise-wide rollout, we will just place our versions of those files in that location.

  • So what is the Database setting in Preference for?

In the years of using Safari, in the Preferences it has settings for Database under Security tab. I've left it at the default 5mb. Whenever I clicked Show Database nothing was ever in there. But yesterday there were two items. I Removed them not paying any attention really. Then today another appeared named ourstage.com.
I've never been to that site or heard of it. So I went to it. Nope nothing I've ever been to.
So what is this database setting? Should I leave it active? What benefit does it do for Safari or me as a surfer?
    Thanks

  • Can't capture HDV with Canon Legria hv40

    Hi,
I'm having this very irritating problem - when I try to capture HDV(25) footage with Premiere Pro CS6 the program:
    recognizes the camera
    has control over camera navigation
doesn't show preview in the capture window
says it's capturing, but only captures audio from the camera (in mp3)
I'm using FireWire and all the Premiere/camera settings are set to HDV.
I can't figure out what the problem might be here.
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

I originally had this problem with a  #trial version of CS5.5 and it did exactly what you describe, (incidentally Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11 @ $75 USD, captures perfectly) ,but, on going to full version and upgrade to CS5.5.2 it has been working perfectly for the last 18 months. (It won't help you but, HDV Canon Capture in Premiere Pro 1.5.1. and that is 5+years old was/is very efficient)
And later as well, just double check New Sequence > Presets > HDV 1080i 25 (50) or other .
Click on Preset Descriptions it will show what it is doing.
    Good luck
#Ps. This occurred in a downloaded trial version (Adobe may not have included the HDV/mpeg-2 codec or it may have been corrupted), but, there is no problem here on 2 x i7 64 bit computers running the program from disc.

  • Setting Up Driver for Canon IR 3220

I'm trying to set up an IP printer with my iMac and am having no luck with the driver. I downloaded the driver and tried adding it in Printer Setup Utility and it won't recognize it. I've heard this is difficult to do but I don't know what else I could be doing to make it work. Any insight?? Thanks!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

For the iR C3220, there was three print controller options. You had the internal Canon board and two EFI 'Fiery' print controller options. As each is slightly different from the other you need to know which one you have before installing a driver and adding the printer.
For the Canon board, you either need to use the Canon PS driver (now v1.70) or the Canon PPD installer.
The Canon PS driver doesn't support AppleTalk, so you will need to have an IP address set in the copier and have LPD enabled. Then on the Mac, to add the printer after installing the driver, you open Printer Setup Utility, click Add then More Printers. Select Canon IP (PS) from the list and then enter the IP address of the iR C3220. For the queue name you can leave it empty or have LP. When you OK this window, the driver will be automatically determined by querying the printer. Now you should be okay to print a test.
If you have an Intel Mac, the Canon IP (PS) will not appear if you are using a version of the Canon PS driver prior to 1.60 (which is Universal). So make sure you get this version or later.
If your iR C3220 has a Fiery attached, you will need to get the appropriate driver for the model you have. The driver consists of an OS X installer package which will add all the necessary files and PPD to your Mac. Both Fiery's also support AppleTalk, LPR and RAW, but they have to be enabled if they aren't already. A config page for the RIP will show you which protocol you can use.
One important point if you use LPR/LPD for the Fiery option. You need to enter a queue name, 'print' is the preferred, and it needs to be entered in lower case. Failure to do this will mean your jobs will never print.

  • FMLE and Canon Legria HV40

    HI
Has anyone had issues with FMLE 3.1 for mac and distorting pixels, I can't get the pixels correct.
    Anyone?

I have the Panasonic HDC SD10 and a Black Magic Intensity Pro capture card using. I stream HDMI in 1080i to Blog tv, Justin.tv, Bambuser and Livestream with this cam and card. On Live stream you can use their Procaster instead of FMLE works just as good and seem to be easier on your cpu.

  • How do I set a preference for opening one of multiple email accounts first?

I have multiple email accounts and prefer to open one of them first when I open the email app.  After setup of all my email accounts the app is opening one of the accounts that is not my preference even though I setup my preferred account as the default.  I've deleted all accounts and started over thinking that the order of the setup made a difference but it has not helped.
In particular I want an Exchange email account to open first and this account is not sync'ed with iTunes.
    Would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thank you,

The only way that you can do something even close to what you are trying to do is to back out of whatever you are in while using the mail app in order to get back to the main mail window that shows all of your inboxes and all of the different email accounts under the accounts heading. Then you could choose to use the Exchange account first from there.
You would have to do this every single time that you are done with mail and it isn't exactly what you are looking to do and it's hardly worth the time anyway.
