Easy Set Up settings- ? any difference in result between the D-NTSC & AVCHD

I have just spent a few days starting to understand and work with FCE. My first project was to get my AVCHD materials sitting on Sony Memory sticks into my computer for later use. I finished, but realized I may have done something essentially wrong.
My objective is to get the maximum data quality into my HDD and subsequent projects. My shoot source material is AVCHD at max HD at full HD resolution 1920 x 1080.
When moving on to MY next project which was to start capturing Analog video, I was studying and I read about Easy Set Up. This 'window' never came up when I installed FEC. Now, I see that the Easy SetUp that was in play for all of my ingesting of my AVCHD material was as follows: Format - all formats, Rate - All Rates and Use -DV-NTSC
I see now there are other set ups and now need to understand...
1) Should I have used a different Easy Set up for the AVCHD capture e.g. - Format = HD , Rate = 29.97fps, and Use = AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1920X 1080i60 ?
2) Is there any difference to the Capture Scratch files I created having used the wrong (?) Easy Set Up ... = Format = all formats, Rate = All Rates and Use = DV-NTSC ....VERSUS .... the Easy Set Up I noticed later which is ... Format = HD , Rate = 29.97fps, and Use = AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1920X 1080i60 ?
In short, have I messed up and created .MOV files that will not be at the best possible quality and use for editing later?
I am more than happy to redo all my capturing to get the best results.
THANKS

Thanks Tom...
To clarify please... confirm or correct (I am accomplishing some learning here )
If I hear you right ... because I ingested the material through the Log and Transfer function (for my AVCHD footage), the settings found in the Easy SetUp don't apply. It would appear that for that Log and Transfer function all ingested AVCHD is done with a default setting at all times. In Log and Transfer I found settings in preferences to import, putting the video at AIC and there is no alternate (other than for sound)Also the settings .
I opened QT M.Inspector and saw the following: Format = Apple Intermediate Codec, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions,16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz & Current Size = 1888 x 1062 pixels (Actual)
I think that this means that even thigh the pre-set is at 1440 x 1080 , that I actually achieve closer to the 1920 x 1080 result ... because of the size of the actual file itself?
So .. to summarize my inquiry ... from what I am leaning... As long as I ingest AVCHD in the Log and Transfer function I will always get the maximum result in resolution and file size. And that the settings I found in ESU are for tape capture only.
Thanks Tom ... I see you are busy on another forum as well. I appreciate all you are doing. If you see me again please understand that I do appreciate the help. I learn in a very different way than normal. After surviving a plane crash doing volunteer help work, and dealing with resulting head injuries the process and flow for me is different and a challenge. I started by learning to read again

  • Any difference in functionality between the two 802.11n models?

I plan on eventually having three airport extreme base stations in my house, in an 802.11n WDS network so I can stream HDTV and DVD movies between the many MythTV and XBMC machines on my network. My first AEBS is the MBxxx model, with the gig network ports. I just bought a second AEBS which was advertised as being the MBxxx model, but is actually the MAxxx model with the 10/100 ethernet ports. Awesome.
The only router I need to have gig ports is the one plugged directly into my backbone switch, so I could get away with the other two having 10/100 ethernet. What I'm wondering, though, is if there's any difference with the firmware between the two models. Will I lose any functionality by not having all MBxxx model routers, or run into any performance issues that are cleared up in the new models?
None of the AEBS's will be doing any routing; My Sonicwall will be doing that and my Windows server will handle giving out DHCP addresses to clients. Further, I plan on keeping an 802.11g router online (outside of the WDS network) so that older 2.4GHZ clients can use that network, keeping the Airport network 11n only. Am I ok to mix the older and newer AEBS's or should I keep the WDS ring MBxxx models only?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Those 2 queries are not the same.  Depending on your data, Query A, may select more rows than Query B.
I don't have access to your table, so I'll give an example using the scott.emp table.
The following 2 queries are similar to your 2 queries:
    SELECT  deptno  -- Query A
    ,       job
    ,       sal
    FROM    scott.emp  m
    WHERE   deptno IN (
                          SELECT  sj.deptno
                          FROM    scott.emp  sj
                          WHERE   sj.deptno  = m.deptno
                          AND     sj.job     = 'CLERK'
    AND     deptno IN (
                          SELECT  ss.deptno
                          FROM    scott.emp  ss
                          WHERE   ss.deptno  = m.deptno
                          AND     ss.sal     > 1200
    SELECT  deptno    -- Query B
    ,       job
    ,       sal
    FROM    scott.emp  m
    WHERE   deptno IN (
                          SELECT  s.deptno
                          FROM    scott.emp  s
                          WHERE   s.deptno  = m.deptno
                          AND     s.job     = 'CLERK'
                          AND     s.sal     > 1200
The results of Query A are all 14 rows in the table, but Query B produces only the 3 rows from deptno=10.
Query A is looking for departments that have CLERKs, and departments that have sal>1200.  If one row in the department has job='CLERK' (no matter what the sal is), and another row has sal>1200 (no matter waht the job is), then that department meets both criteria.
Query B is looking for departments who have CLERKs whose sal is over 1200.  Both criteria must be met on the same row.

  • Difference forecast results between the Batch run and interactive run in DP

    Hi Guru's,
I am running the forecast in DP with interactive and batch run (with same selection id and same univariate profile) but  i am getting the difference results not both are equal???
Is it we will not get the same results?? If i tried with only one product and only one location combination then i am getting the same results, But if i took n-n combination then results are wrong.
Please help me in this regards?
    Thanks,
    Sree

    Hello,
Thanks for your quick reply, I have checked all the settings and confiring the same - i have maintained the same selection ans same parameters.
I think so we will not get the same results for batch and interactive run.
May be batch job it will run by each one by one combination, But in interactive run it will considering the grouping, Please correct me??

  • How to reset easy set up settings

How do I reset my easy set up settings so I can find a better way to capture footage from my Canon Vixia HV30 to FCE? I have been using 'Format - HD' and 'Use: HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60' and I can import footage in that setup but I am looking for a better way which will allow me to use the Capture Window (it lists the Capture Bin/Reel/Name/Description/Scene/etc.) so I can label and organize my footage -- this Capture Window doesn't seem to be available by the aforementioned method -- so I want to try another method but to do that I have to reset my easy set up settings. Thanks for your help.

but it's the time duration between the 'in' and 'out' points (timecode?) that >I'm not sure about. Is this information essential for logging before I start >doing editing or does organizing essentials just consist of naming the file/bin >in the Tape # I am working on?
Are you in _List View_ in the Browser?
FCE does not allow for Timecode In/Out points to be added in Browser columns, we all face the same deal unless you move to FCP.
The Duration of the clip is however. If you cannot see the Duration Column right click in the any heading column except the Name column and it will bring up a list of all availble, you add or delete as required.
In List View the clips are added in linear time fashion the top one being first.
It's normal behaviour for HDV footage to be broken at the Camera start/stop points so you end up with a bunch of clips in the Browser knowing at least which came first and last if time is important to your Project.

    No.

  • Does anyone know if there is any difference at all in the display between the 4 and the 4s.  I use my 4 with no problems but have issues with the 5 - makes me feel ill.  Any help appreciated before I make an expensive mistake

Can anyone tell me if there is any difference at all in the display between the 4 and 4s.  It appears they are the same from the specs but I dont want to make an expensive mistake.  I can use the 4 with no problems but the 5 makes me feel ill and I am hoping I can upgrade to a 4s with no issues. Any help appreciated.

In a technical sense, the differences between the displays on the iPhone 4 vs 4s are vast.  I'm mean, they are both attached to 70 - 90% of the internal components and far from interchangeable.  There are no differences however, that are noticeable by the user.

  • Is there any difference in quality between mp4 and m4v?

Is there any difference in quality between mp4 and m4v? I am figuring out how best to save old VCR files. Is the 264 category the best?

So, what would that software be? Anything that I mentioned, e.g., iMovie? Any Video Converter?
I'm a Mac user so I want files that play "natively" in QT X, QT 7, QL, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, and/or TV players. This means I want the H.264/AAC compressed data in MOV, MP4, or M4V file containers. I can use QT 7 Pro, MPEG Streamclip, and /or QT X to move MPEG-4/AAC compressed data to MOV file containers, MPEG Streamclip to movie M4V and MOV MPEG-4/AAC data to MP4 file containers, and Subler to move MP4 or MOV MPEG-4 AVC/AAC/AC3/Chapter data to M4V file containers. This is strictly a simple "copy" operation and no recompression of data is involved. (I.e., the quality is not changed.)
iMovie is a video editor and it forces an export conversion of your project once completed which can degrade quality. Have never used the Any Video Converter so I don't know if it has an audio and/or video "passthrough" feature for data already in a compatible compression formats. If it doesn't then any conversion it makes has the potential to degrade video content.
As to AVI, this is a legacy file container abandoned by Microsoft a dozen years ago in favor of their modernized WMV compression format/file type products. Compared to MKV, AVI is an outmoded/out-of-date container which I don't recommend you use unless you are a glutton for punishment. However, if you must use it, then you might try the AvidMux app. It can "copy" compatible content to a number of file container types—including AVI and MKV. Just don't blame me if its use creates more problems than it solves on current Mac systems.

  • An anyone help me to find the difference and relation between the following

    Hi,
can anyone help me to find the difference and relation between the following methods of Swing :
    a) validate()
    b) invalidate()
    c) revalidate()
    d) repaint()

You'd be far ahead by opening up the API and Java turorial and your course book and learning for yourself, rather than, asking other to do your homework for you.
But if you have andwers already to go, then post them and ask if you have drawn appropriate conclusions.

hi I'm travelling between two countries and i have a credit card and address in both, can i set up my itunes account to switch between the respectice i tunes stores

Not a single account, no, at least not easily. It would be better to set up individual iTunes Store accounts, one in each country. Your computer and devices can quite happily deal with two accounts, and then you can just log into the appropriate account when you're in the applicable country. You'll need a second email address to able to create a new Apple ID.

  • 4:3 or 16:9? Any difference in result?

Okay, to start off with I was one of those people who couldn't figure out why discs with source material of 16:9 burned at 16:9 was showing up on regular TVs as full screen. I reburned the same source at 4:3 and got the same result. The ProCare tutor at the Apple Store told me it would be letterboxed on a 4:3 TV (I have a widescreen set but friends who will be borrowing it do not).
Finally with the help of this thread ...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=430920&tstart=30
... I was got it figured out and set the dvd player I was testing it on to 4:3 Letterbox. All is fine.
Now this leads me to my question (finally). There seems to be no difference between the discs I burned at 4:3 and 16:9. Is there? Am I missing something? If I am making discs of 16:9 source material that will be played a little on 16:9 TV but probably mostly 4:3 TVs what aspect ratio should I be burning at??
    Thanx all

If anything, I would expect the TVs to appear
different when playing either aspect ratio.
But they don't. That is why I am asking if there is a difference I am missing.
Originally I burned at 16:9 ratio because the Procare tutor at the Apple Store said it would appear letterboxed on a 4:3 TV. Looked okay on my 16:9 but on the 4:3 it was full screen with the sides clipped.
I figured I had messed up. So I reburned it at 4:3 ratio. It looked just the same as the 16:9 on my 16:9 TV. It also looked just the same on the 4:3 TV set as the previous 16:9 burn did.
At this point I was really lost. Thankfully I found the thread I linked up top in my first post that said that the dvd player of the 4:3 TV had to be set on letterbox. Man was I relieved.
I reset the dvd player at work connected to the 4:3 TV. Presto - it worked. They were in letterbox. But in the brief amount of time I watched the two different burns, they looked the same.
Both TVs (the widescreen and reg) did not appear different when play either aspect ratio. That is why I was wondering if I was missing something.
    Apparently not.
I will go ahead and take the original advice and just burn at whatever aspect ratio my original source material is.

  • I need to migrate data from Lion to OSX do you know of any problems with content between the two systems?

I'm using a MacBook AIR and OSX 10.9.1. When I upgraded that I made a mistake with the user name and so created another user. Now I understand I need to migrate the data between the two systems but that there might be trouble with some of the content files transferring across? Has anyone done this before? If so what were the pitfalls? Thanks and Help! No-one typing this feels as if they're on a steep learning curve at all!

    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your BlackBerry ! Before trying anything else can you try check a few setting or undo it on your device ?

First advise is to disable Memory Cleaner ! you don't need that , It can cause freezing and clocking. To disable it , From your homescreen go to Options > Security > Advance Security setting > Memory Cleaner > Disable that feature .After disabling it reboot your device do it by removing the Battery while your device is Powered On then wait for at least a minute then reinsert it back, your device may take a long reboot .
Then monitor your device for the next few hrs. and check if you feel the same problem .

  • Why do the results between the OCR in the Vision Assistant and OCR in a VI generated from the vision assistant might defer?

    Hi everybody,
I had a problem while I was trying to run OCR on my image in my LabVIEW code. The algorithm did not detected what I was expecting on the image.
I decided to run the test on the vision assistant and it worked perfectly: I got the expected results.#
I assumed then that my code had different parameters, so I decided to generate a VI from the vision asssistant and run it on LabVIEW for the same image, just to verify.I did not change anything on the VI (all parameters are the same), and I used the same image. Surprinsingly the results are different between the assistant and the VI. That strikes me a lot! I have checked alll possible configurable parameters and they have the same values as in the Vision assistant. Does anybody have an idea about what could be the reason of this behaviour?  Thanks

    Esteban,
do you use the same images for OCR? Or do you take a new snap shot before running the OCR?
What steps of debugging did you use in LV?

  • Is there any difference if purchased at the carrier ie verizon as opposed to the apple store?

does buying it at the apple store have advantages over buying it through the verizon website? it seems easier to get through to verizon right now?

As a business account it does make a difference as Apple only has basic access into Verizon's system. If you want to order more than 1 iphone I think the Verizon side can handle that better (on the phone, not the website).
Shipping an iPhone to multiple business locations also is another reason I wanted to deal with Verizon directly.
