Easy setup setting for NXCAM 1920x1080 25p/50i

Recently I have "upgraded" from Sony HDV to Sony NXCAM*.
Filming in full HD @ 25p.
When importing the footage into FCP and selecting Easy Setup ProRes 422, I can not select frame rate. The "use" field is greyed out and contains the text "HDV-Apple ProRes 422 1080p24"
As the Easy Setup defines the initial settings of the sequence of a new project, each time I have to change the sequence settings manually to match the NXCAM footage.
Question: is there a way to define a new Easy Setup setting? ... or is there another solution?
regards,
Coen

The NXCAM shoots AVCHD. You don't use Easy Setup, but the Preferences dialog in Log & Transfer and set it to transcode to ProRes LT. That footage will adopt the 25fps frame rate of your source footage.
To set the Sequence correctly, simply drop a clip onto the Timeline. You will see a dialog that asks if you want the Sequence to match the clip properties (you do).

  • Easy Setup Setting

I have shot 24p on mini digital tape using a Sony HVR V1U camera. It's an HDV format camera. Using Final Cut Pro 6, what should my easy setup setting be?

Wow, thanks for this information! I looked everywhere. I have gotten different answers from various people. Some have suggested I simply use the Easy Setup: "HDV 1080i/60." I will try both including your ProRes format.

    Is this a question?
Which operating system version is it running?
I see from a web search (finally) that the thing to which you are referring is a wireless router.  Have you checked the manufacturer's own support site since they are the ones who would really know the most about it?

  • Streamclip/easy setup settings for purchased clips

I have some purchased clips that I would like to edit in FCE. The settings from the QT inspector are:
    Format: photo JPEG, 1920 x 1080, millions
    FPS: 30
    Data Size: 321.4 MB
    Data Rate: 171.37 Mbit/s
    Current Size: 478 x 269 pixels
If I convert in streamclip to QT for editing in FCE, which compression should I used, and what other settings should I use?
Also, which easy setup in FCE would be correct?
I will eventually be exporting this to QT so that I can run the video through a mac to a projector.
    Bob

What version of FCE are you using?
Is there any other media, or just the stock footage?
Most likely you want to convert to QuickTime using the Apple Intermediate Codec at 1920x1080 at 29.97fps.

  • Easy Setup For Panasonic AG-HMC150 Files?

I just got my new Panasonic AG-HMC150, and shot some sample footage at 720p/60. I had no problems getting the clips into FCP using Log & Transfer, and they look fine when playing them in the viewer, or from the timeline.
I have a Matrox MXO, and the clips also play great on my 2nd Cinema Display that runs off of the Matrox; and, I have a small Sony 4:3 CRT monitor, that shows the clips properly letterboxed, and they play fine on that too. I've even exported the clips to Compressor, and burned a DVD in DVDSP, which looks great. Audio is fine, in sync, etc.
The only problem is in the FCP canvas window; the lips will flicker a little or a lot, depending on the View Menu's video playback setting; using MXO DVCPRO 1280x720/59.94 causes a lot of flicker, while choosing MXO Uncompressed 1280x720/59.94 causes a little .
I'm not sure if my Easy Setup is correct; I've chosen the MXO Apple Pro Res 720p/59.94 sequence setting, but I'm not sure what to do for Capture or Device Control settings; I wouldn't think that they would matter.
I think the problem is with the Video Playback setting; I've chosen several of the MXO settings, and they all play fine on my Matrox monitor, but I can't find one that will smooth out playback in the canvas. Or, since everything else seems to work fine, should I even be worrying about this?
I'm making the switch from capturing tapes, and I actually expected a lot more trouble than I'm having; but solving this tiny glitch would be great. I'm looking forward to getting familiar with this camera and using it for some upcoming events.
Any suggestions on the proper Easy Setup settings for files from this camera, and in particular, a good View/Video Playback setting? Thanks in advance.

Click on one of the ingest camera files in the FCP Browser. Once it is selected, type Command + 9 to see the properties for the clip. Either report those properties here or take a screen shot of the item properties and post that here.
Next, click anywhere in your timeline, then type Command + 0 {zero} to see your Sequence Settings. Either report those settings here or take a screen shot of your Sequence Settings and post that screen shot here.

  • Missing Easy Setup File 1080i50

    Hi guys
Just upgraded to Sony HDV camera (HVR-A1E) PAL (UK). Pop into FCP5.x easy setup menu for capture and only settings are for 1080i60. Where is the 1080i50 gone? Cannot capture more than a few seconds of HD before dropped frame rate window pops up. Can capture HDV in iMovie, but when you try to import into FCP it gets upset! Using iMacG5 2GHz with 1Gb RAM.
Any thoughts, or anyone who can put me in touch with the missing file or instructions on how to set it all up manually would be GREAT!
    Cheers
    Paul

Just gives me a new list to choose from when I start program. The list contains only one version of HDV which is the 1080i60! So that didn't help. Any other ideas!

  • HVR-V1u HVR-1500 capture Easy Setup

    Hello,
    Shot on V1U 1080i 30p - now capturing off of HVR1500, it's only reading 1080i60 though...
I captured at Easy setup HDV 1080p30 for the last few tapes, but it felt a tad jumpy... the setting on camera was 30p 1080i, a mix of interlaced and progressive? So the 1080p30 was the wrong setting?
So I looked online, and in the release notes for 6.0.2 it says to capture for Sony HVR-V1 1080p30 on easy setup 1080i60 - the progressive scan will be preserved... is the V1 the same as V1u? Do I still capture 1080i60? Or was that an older model?
Does playback on the HVR1500 change the easy setup since it can only play back 60i?
It also says to use the Apple Intermediate Codec, but that takes up too much HDD space.
    Any suggestions?

Capture it as 1080i HDV, or 1080i ProRes. Place it in a sequence, and say yes when it asks to conform the sequence. Then look in the A/V settings window and create your own easy setup for this.
I've not looked to see if there is an easy setup already for this, but if there isn't, then you can create one once you've decided whether to capture as HDV or ProRes... I'd choose ProRes because it's 10 bit so graphics will look better, and it encodes to DVD's or web streams faster, and it renders faster. File sizes are larger with it however.

  • How to configure the Easy Setup to match the sequence type for playback

Plesae provide some suggestion for how to configure the Easy Setup in FCP 6.05.
    *Uncompressed HD 8-bit (1920 x 1080p30)video streams
    e.g:
    1. Choose Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup.
    2. Choose ?? from the Format pop-up menu
    3. Choose “all rates” from the Rate pop-up menu.
    4. Click the USE pop-up menu, choose which format?
    Also how about Uncompressed SD 8-bit (720 x 480p30) video streams ?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for the advice.
In the project, I created two sequences.
Import all my HD 8-bit clips into sequence 1, and say yes to mach the format
and import all my SD 8-bit clips into sequence 2 and say yes.
In Sequence-> setting-> I verified the configuration as following:
However, that is "Load sequence preset" button, I am not sure what is that for and also do I need to go to Final cut pro -> easy setup to configure the format again?
I just want to playback all my HD clips to make sure no dropped frame and
then playback my SD clips sequence to make sure the performace are OK.
Here are the format for HD clips:
    HD 1920x1080 HDTV 1080i (16:9); upper; uncompress 4:2:2.
Here are the format for HD clips:
    SD 720x480 NTSSC DV (3:2), NTSC-CCIR601, lower , uncmpress 8-bit 4:2:2.

  • Best "Easy Setup" for AVCHD .mts files

I'm on a MacBook Pro in 10.5.8 with FCP 7, all footage is shot by a Canon HF S100 at 1920x1080 60i. Is there a best way to set up the Easy Setup for the AVCHD files?
    I currently have it as:
    Format: (all)
    Rate: (all rates)
    Use: Custom Setup
    Sequence Preset: HDV 1080i60
Capture Preset: HDV Apple ProRes 422
    Device Control: non-controllable device
    Video Playback: none
    Audio Playback: Default.
Is there a better way to do it than this?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Yup,
It costs but it's supposed to be very worth it on saved time and trouble.
    http://www.clipwrap.com
    From the website:
    rewraps - doesn't transcode
ClipWrap rewraps the video samples from your existing m2t, mts, m2ts files without re-encoding them. This means blazingly fast convert speeds and no image degradation.
    Transcodes too!
Need your files in ProRes, AIC, DNxHD or DVCProHD? ClipWrap can seamlessly convert your files. Don't worry about frame size changes, gamma shifts, or any of the other problems resulting from mismatched settings - ClipWrap chooses all those based on the source file's format.
    Automatic format detection
ClipWrap speaks your camera's language so you don't have to. It automatically parses the file's format and chooses the proper output format, so there's no hassle trying to determine the proper settings (frame rate, image size, gamma levels, etc).
    Full timecode support
Timecode is recreated in the new QuickTime movie, so you can recapture from tape later if necessary.
    Supports HDV and AVCHD formats
Now you're not limited to specific HDV or AVCHD cameras, you can rest assured your files will be compatible with FCP when it comes time to edit.

  • DVD capturing - What setting on Easy Setup?

    Hello,
I'm caputuring video from my DVD player which is : connected RCA to a Canopus converter box : out firewire and into the Macbook.
When I capture the video, I get the message saying "Audio/Video rate may not match sample..." after I'm finished capturing.
I have no idea which setting in Easy Setup to choose from.
It is currently set at: DV - NTSC 32 kHz
    Any suggestions?

If you are capturing via a box like the Canopus ADVC-110 (any model, actually), you should use the DV NTSC DV Converter easy setup. (Assuming you're in the US, that is.) Select this easy setup BEFORE you create a new sequence and/or try to capture anything from the Canopus. Also make sure that the Canopus box itself is set for NTSC, not PAL.
You should NOT use the DV NTSC 32KHz easy setup.

  • FCP 7.0.3 Easy Setup audio setting issues

I have created two custom Easy Setups.
    SD:     DVCPro50 PAL with audio set @ 48.000 kHz, 16-bit, 16 chan
    HD:     DVCProHD 1080i 25fps with audio set @ 48.000kHz, 24-bit, 16 chan
I open FCP, load the SD easy setup.  I then click on Audio/Video settings.
Select "Audio/Video Settings" and view "Capture Presets Summary"
         - Audio format is listed as 48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
If I then select the HD Easy Setup, and then "Audio/Video Settings"
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan (THIS SHOULD BE 24-bit)
    Select the "A\V Device" tab:
The audio device has defaulted to the 16 bit setting as well.
It appears that FCP or AJA is keeping the audio bitrate from the previous Easy Setup.
Even if we close FCP completely, and reopen into a new project, load the HD Easy Setup, the bit rate still shows as 16.
I have tried deleting the following:
    apple.finalcutpro.plist
    Final Cut User Data Folder
    Thanks,
    Mike

The camera definitely recorded in SP, that icon was visible on the viewfinder...
What settings should i be using in FCP to capture the video? From attempted research i found most comments suggesting to use a basic Firewire settings. i have used this in PAL format but the results are poor.
One thing I am confused about is the 32khz or 48khz settings. Which should i be using? I have an older version of FCE 4 where there are many settings for both 32khz and 48khz for DV FireWire but in FCP7 there are only options for 48khz.
Any advice would be welcomed at the moment.
I am also willing to upload clips of what I have to demonstrate visually the poor quality video I am capturing from the Canon

  • Easy setup for Digibeta?

I realize this is probably really simple, but:
I need to get my sequence out to Digi and every time I try the edit to tape i'm told i have "Incompatible compression settings"? I'm on FCP 6 going to a sony DVW-M2000P through a AJA IO (SD) and i'm using the 10bit Uncompressed easy setup, which as far as i can tell sets both the sequence and the output to the same thing?
Does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I still get the same error message when I create a new sequence and nest the output sequence within it. No Idea how that can be?
On a slightly seperate issue i'm now having serious problems getting the IO back on-line (since installing the control panel). The installer updated the firmware, after which the IO simply stopped working, I tried to roll back the firmware using an older version from the AJA website but it still cannot be seen by FCP (or anything else for that matter). I'm also quite worried that the FireWire status light is on regardless of weather the IO is connected to the FireWire or not..!
I've tried uninstalling the AJA driver etc and re-installing but to no avail. If I try to update/rollback the firmware on it's own (using the firmware updater from the site) it now cannot find an Io version or serial number.
ddoes anyone know of an alternate download location for these drivers? or if there is any support for AJA offered from the UK? (the only number I can see from the site is in California).

  • What easy setup for 1280x1080 workflow?

Format I received: (Shot on HPX170)
    DVCPRO HD i1080 1280X1080 (1888X1062)
    fps: 23.98 (24pA pulldown)
FCP Sequence setup is: HD (1280X1080) 16:9
    Compressor: DVCPRO HD 1080i60
My timeline doesn't need to render and everything looks good.
What I don't understand, when I export as current setting, I get 1920X1080. What's going on?
I thought 1080 was referred as 1920x1080, 720 is referred as 1280X720. I thought 'i60' was for interlaced.
Motion exports it out squeezed, FCP upsized it, Mocha is a pain, and After Effects laughed at me. I'm calling it a night.

Sorry, but Jerry is mistaken. This doesn't happen often...but he is mistaken.
You shot 1080i60 at 24PA. DVCPRO HD is an anamorphic format that doesn't shoot full raster 1920x1080. It shoots 1280x1080 (other anamorphic formats shoot 1440x1080...only DVCPRO HD is 1280x1080). And since you shot 24pA, that means that you need to have REMOVE ADVANCED PULLDOW checked in the Long and Transfer Preferences (that sprocket looking menu). Then you will end up with 1280x1080 at 23.98. The camera records the 24progressive frames in the 30 interlaced format...and removes the redundant frames and the interlacing when you import into FCP.
You did not shoot 720p60...but FYI that is a 60 fps format that you can also shoot at 24PN. That format records 24 actual FCP, with no pulldown needing to be removed.

  • Easy setup for 1080p 24

i'm shooting 1080p 24 dvcpro hd (panasonic hvx200) and importing the p2 files into my project but it requires constant rendering (orange line) with every little change i make. i have the fastest mac and more than enough ram with a kona card and i still cannot edit because the frame rate is so bad unless i edit. what should i set my sequence settings to? does anyone out there with a similar setup have a simple step-through for me?
    thanks

There isn't an easy setup. But there is a nifty trick to get sequence settings that match your clip settings:
    www.proapptips.com/shane NON-STANDARD CODECS IN FCP
Then you should be set. Let me know if you aren't.

  • Easy Setup - Format used for importing MPEG-4 clip

I am trying to import a movie to FCE and wonder which format should be set in the Easy Setup. Thx
Used MPEG Streamclip to check the info:
    Video Tracks:
    Generic MPEG-4, 640 × 480, 29.97 fps, 997 kbps
    Audio Tracks:
MPEG Layer-3 Audio stereo, 48 kHz, 64 kbps
Used QuickTime Player Inspecter to check the info:
    DivX 6.0, 640x480, Unknown
    MPEG Layer3, Stereo, 48.000 kHz

You'd better first convert the movie (using MPEG Streamclip you already have) to the standard NTSC format: open your file in MPEG Streamclip, then Export to QuickTime (cmd-E - NOT Export to DV!) with Compression: Apple DV-DVCPRO/NTSC, Quality: 100%, fps: 29,97, Audio: uncompressed, Stereo, 48 KHz.
Then in FCE select the DV-NTSC Easy Setup before creating the sequence you'll use for editing.
Finally import the converted .mov file into FCE and drag it into the new sequence in the timeline.
That should do it, and the resulting .mov will not require video nor audio rendering.
