Easy way to flip a graphic/symbol?

Is there an easy way to flip a graphic/symbol? Without having to type in javascript?

Select your png then use the transform tool and use the handle to drag the image to the original limit on the opposite side. Put a guide so you keep the same size.

    Hi,
You could create a transaction or screen variant for IW28 and IW29. Use transaction SHD0 to do this. Deactivate the menu function IGRA to hide the 'Graphic' icon.

  • An easy way to make a text box blink??

Hello everyone! So I can make a graphic symbol blink easy enough, but I am trying to "simulate" an electronic LCD screen, so I would like to display the value of a variable in a dynamic text box and make it blink. The idea is kind of like an alarm clock, where you select "set hours", and the hour field blinks while you change it. Is there an easy way to make a dynamic text box blink? Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks all!

you can use a loop (like a timer) to toggle the textfields visibility.

  • Character Animation: Movie Clip or Graphic Symbols?

Should I use Movie Clip or Graphic Symbols for Character
Animation? What do people who make TV shows use. If I'm not
planning on manipulating any symbols with ActionScript and I'm not
using a symbol that requires it's own time line like a walk cycle,
is there any reason to use movie clips symbols? If I put my
animation on the web will it download noticeably faster if I use
graphic symbols instead of movie clip symbols?

What I meant is, there are different ways of setting up a
workflow for Flash animation. Studio animators are trained in
traditional frame-by-frame animation. So their workflow is usually
to do the same in Flash: make every frame a keyframe, then copy and
paste everything from one frame into the next, then make whatever
changes are needed. A classically-trained animator can get a good
    momentum working this way.
But for making the most streamlined SWF files, this method is
not the best. It's much better to rely on library assets, place
major parts or sets of parts on different layers, and only keyframe
those things that need keyframes. If good planning is done in
advance, it can be just as fast as doing straight-ahead keyframed
    animation.
Either method may end up with the same result. But when you
want to go back and tweak things, it's a whole lot easier to do it
    when method 2 is used.
I'm sure I'm not very clear. PM me and I'll send you a list I
created of "best practices" which I give to e-card animators.
One of these best practices is: place a thumbtack on the "G"
key on your keyboard. The very WORST habit that is taught to studio
animators using Flash is to use neither Graphics nor Movie Clips,
but to immediately click Ctrl-G every time they draw something.
This creates a Group. It's faster than hitting F8 and typing in a
name, but it causes ENORMOUS problems, especially when doing
retakes and revisions. And it results in gargantuan SWF files.
I literally GLUED a thumbtack to one one animator's keyboard,
since he seemed unable to remember this rule. Luckily this wasn't
in America, or I'd have been charged with grievous bodily
    assualt.

  • Is there an easy way to add a sketch to Apple Email?

I struggled with a new-to-me sketch program that I found on an Internet website, but I was finally able to copy and paste it to an Email message. It was supposed to have been easier than that, but that was the best I could do.I then realized that I had to add a few lines and notes. That got me to thinking. By now, you'd think that there would be an easy way to add graphic material to Apple Email. Is there?
    I have an iMac.

  • I need to translate a flash program with many pages to edge animate CC. Is there an easy way top build new pages, so that you can jump from one page to another withion the same file?

I have only seen in all the examples in books and on the net that edge animate works on one page only. Maybe I hve not fully understood the concept, but in flash it was easy. Perhaps there is also an easy way in edge animate?

You can either make a symbol for each page in the same composition or you can use edge commons composition loader to load several compositions into the same composition which serves as a container.

  • I cannot get an animated graphic symbol to be animated in my browser...

    Hello and thanks for looking...
I have followed this animation using bones and armatures tutorial:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/character_animation_ik.htmlhttp://
(which is superb and thanks to the poster)
My problem is that i cannot get them to be animated inside a browser.
I have created the armature and the poses etc. and I have then selected all the leg parts and converted them to a graphic symbol as per the instructions (i have nested the leg symbols inside the 'leg armature' symbol (point 12 near figure 27).  I have connected all the bones fine not a problem...
But if i then look at them in a browser they are not animated, but if i press play inside the little library window it is animated!
So each indivdual armature symbol works a treat in the library window (individually).  However when i save them as whole (i.e. a walk cycle symbol as per point 1 near figure 39) nothing is animated.  I have motion tweened them to move across the stage (so they have the frames to be animated) but there are no animated parts when previewed - the character just glides with no moving parts.
I have re-read it several times and cannot find what i am doing wrong!  It is probably something really simple and i am being dim - it would be nice if you could tell me how   Sorry if this is confusing. My head is hurting again.
    Thanks v much.
(just to note i did select AS3 and i have CS6)

    Dude your a superstar!
I read this and thought i had done that, but it turns out i needed to extend the frames before i converted to the last 'complete' symbol!
(i was half way through re doing it - and gettting annoyed!)
    Thanks ever so

  • How do I replace a graphic symbol that contains text ... ?

How do I replace a graphic symbol ?  It is actually made up of 3 layers including a textbox and bullet.  When I double click on the symbol, I get the Text Properties menu.
When I single click on the symbol on the stage, the properties menu shows a Swap button.  When I choose the correct symbol and click OK, it looks like it worked but it still shows the original symbol name (Instance of it) on this Properties menu.
Another issue is that when I change one of the symbols (by double clicking on the symbol and then double clicking on the text layer), it does change the text on that layer. However, then it changes the text on the other symbol as well even though they are different symbols.
Note that I can edit the original symbol and the new one.  Both symbols are different.  In other words, they each show the different text (which is what I want).  It's like the original symbol is attached/embedded and cannot be changed.
Background on this issue:  Rather than create a brand-new layer, I copied all the frames in a layer to a new layer because it has a motion tween on it.  I only need to change the symbol that is in the motion tween.  This is the only action/event happening on both layers.
This should be so easy...  I have read many Q&As on this Forum and the Adobe Flash Help trying to figure this out.  Thank you for your help.

It sounds like you have two symbols sharing another symbol.  Since you mentioned "original" it would seem to be a case of duplication.  Try creating each symbol separately without using one as a starting point for the other... or delete the part that changes for both in each instance and replace it separately in each instance with a new one.

Thank you very much. The last one youve send me looks the most what i have in mind. With some thumbnails and when you click on it you see a larger document.
But it doesnt fit quite in the style of the site. You have an other example for me?

  • Buttons in AS3.0... is there an easier way?

I am wondering if there is an easier way to create buttons in
3.0... I want to make an e-publication in 3.0 but am finding most
of the actions easier to do in 2.0. Should I generally use a
combination of these AS versions or am I missing something with
this endless array of 3.0 options? I am having troubles adapting to
the whole applying an action to a frame rather than button thing...
I have downloaded all the terminology from Adobe so that I can get
better adjusted, but it's always nice to read feedback from a real
person explaining a few simple things to me... links or comments
    much much much appreciated!!!

    cdbsoccer63,
vvirgill's answer is good, because it shows how easy AS3
    buttons can be.
In fact, the nice thing about ActionScript 3.0 is that nearly
    all event
handling is this easy, becuase nearly all of it is performed
    the same way.
    That is ...
    someObject.addEventListener(
    <an event to listen for>,
<what to do when the event occurs>
You can put that all on one like, like vvirgill showed, or
    broken over
several lines, like I just showed with my own example. My
    example isn't
literal code, so it wouldn't work if you typed that into the
    Actions panel.
Like vvirgill did, you'd have to replace the <an event to
    listen for> part
with the name of some event. For buttons, one of them is
    "click", which
appears in quotes because it's a string (text). Then you'd
    replace the
<what do do ...> part with the name of some function,
    such as myListener(),
onClick(), or honestly, whatever name you like. I often use
    clickHandler(),
but it doesn't matter, so long as the function name makes
    sense to you (a
descriptive name is usually a good choice, such as
    submitForm() or
orderPizza()). When you refer to your function as a parameter
    inside the
addEventListener() method, you leave the parentheses off the
    function,
because it's the parentheses that actually make the function
    do its thing.
You don't want to trigger the function inside that
    addEventListener()
method, but rather, in response to whatever event you'r
    listening for.
So ... how do you know what events are valid for buttons --
    or anything
else, for that matter? Look up the class entry for the object
    you're
dealing with. If you're dealing with button symbols, look up
    the
SimpleButton class. For movie clip symbols, look up the
    MovieClip class.
For text fields, the TextField class, and so on. Each class
    entry -- in
this case, in the ActionScript 3.0 Language and Components
    Reference (F1
key) -- generally has three categories: Properties
    (characteristics of the
object), Methods (things the object can do), and Events
    (things the object
can react to). You'll find relevant events under the Events
    heading, as you
can imagine. Many classes inherit frunctionality from other
    classes, so
always make sure to click the hyperlink that says "Show
    Inherited
    Properties/Methods/Events" near each heading.
The documentation will show you things a bit differently
    than vvirgill
showed. Instead of "click", for example, you'll find sample
    code that shows
you MouseEvent.CLICK. Don't be thrown by that. All that means
    is that the
"click" string is stored as a constant (an unchanging
    variable) of the
MouseEvent class. You can reference that string by referring
    to the
    contstant, like this:
    myButton.addEventListener(
    MouseEvent.CLICK,
    clickHandler
According to best practices, you should do it like that
    (it's the more
"proper" way to go about it), but in the end, all that
    contsant does is
point to the string "click", so they ultimately mean the same
    thing.
Nearly every time, if an object has an event, you'll be able
    to wire up
an event listener the same way youv'e seen now in this
    thread. The only
exceptions I can think of are related to video (cue points
    and status
messages, I think) -- but for everything else ...
    myObject.addEventListener(someEvent, someHandler);
... and then, of course, you have to write out that what
    "someHandler" is.
As vvirgill demonstrated, that's easy to. You need a function
    declaration,
and then the code you want performed, and that's really all
    there is to it.
You do have to write the function to accept one parameter:
    function myFunction(param:Event):void {
... which I called param in that snippet (vvirgill called it
    e). That
parameter gives you optional access to the event itself, and
    the *type* of
parameter it is depends on the type of event that triggers
    the function.
Strictly speaking, the MouseEvent.CLICK event is an instance
    of the
MouseEvent class (just like button symbols are instances of
    the SimpleCutton
class, movie clips are instances of the MovieClip class, and
    so on). So
ideally, that parameter should be typed as MouseEvent rather
    than Event:
    function myFunction(param:MouseEvent):void {
... but only when the function is triggered in reponse to a
    mouse click
(that is, a MouseEvent). Makes sense, right? The reason
    vvirgill's example
isn't wrong is because the MouseEvent class inherits some of
    its
functionality from the Event class, so mouse event objects
    actually *are*
event objects -- the identification as such is true -- but if
    you're
adhering to Adobe recommendations, you'll type your
    parameters (and all
    variables) specifically.

  • What is the easier way to edit a captured slide?

I have created a demonstration animation and there are several slides that need a little graphics editing.
So far, I have not found a way to automate the process of editing slides.
The only method I can determine is by selecting "Copy Background", then opening a graphics editor, pasting to a new window, edit accordingly, save the edited graphic background, import into the slide.
Isn't there anyway to edit inline?.. meaning, the background is automatically sent to your choosen graphics editor, you edit the graphic, click save/exit, and the graphics background is automatically updated. That is how Captivate 4's competitors do it.

    Hi Shawn
It really depends on what exactly you need to do. For example, if all you want is an easy way to blot out some words, use a Highlight Box object at zero percent transparency. Then merge it into the background. Or maybe you need an image added in. Add the image separately and merge it.
Last week we needed to render an option button as unselected. In that case I just right-clicked and opened in Microsoft Paint. Duplicated another and overlaid the errant one. Closed and saved. Total update time from start to finish was less than two minutes.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Is there as easy way of batch converting RGB files to CMYK in OS Lion?

Is there as easy way of batch converting RGB files to CMYK in OS Lion?
I was using a photoshop droplet on my desktop but this no longer works due to the fact it requires rosetta support.
    Thx P

    From another forum after googling:
Your computer came with everything you need, because ColorSync can do that and Apple provided AppleScripts for it. Go to your Applications folder and look for the AppleScript folder. Double click on the 'Example Scripts' alias and then open the ColorSync scripts. Drag and drop your images on the the 'Match to CMYK' script.
You can open AppleScript Editor from Launchpad (it's in Utilities). Go to Help to Open Example Scripts Folder. In the ColorSync folder is a Match application. Double click to make it run.
Now you know what it does you may need to change it for batch conversion.
Go to AppleScript Editor and open what you've just found. And I'm sorry that's as far as my knowledge goes, hope some one can fill in the gaps.
Or you may just want to look at something like Graphic Converter?

  • Easy way to disable sleep temporarily?

    Hi,
I'm wondering if there is an easy way to keep the computer awake temporarily without having to edit the system preferences. My current strategy is to start iTunes playing with the computer set to mute. I need this functionality because the computer goes to sleep even if there are active processes running in my X11 windows. For example, I'd like to be able to flip a "no sleep" switch while I'm installing a big program via the terminal or ssh-ed into an external machine. I think this kind of temporary no sleep mode would be useful when I have to read documents on my computer screen so that the screen won't go dark every few seconds when I leave the mouse still. Once I'm done either reading or doing things in the terminal, I'd like to return my computer to my usual settings, which are set to engage sleep mode fairly quickly to conserve energy. Of course, I can always tap the mouse to keep the display awake when I'm reading and put iTunes on mute to keep the hard disk awake while installing, but I'm curious if there is a more elegant way to achieve the desired result.
    Thanks,
    Adrian

    Hi
I use the custom setting in the energy saver prefpane for this. You can set it to never sleep and/or never put the display to sleep by dragging the 2 sliders to the far right. Once you've done that once it will stick and you can switch between custom and the other preset schemes (normal, better performane and better energy savings) with the power icon in the menu bar.
I should've mentioned: you need to do it separately for battery and mains power.
