Easy way to link to your existing .Mac site...

After reading the PDF file that came with iWeb... it says on page 20, first go to your .Mac site in your browser, then click to highlight the address in the address bar. Now go to iWeb, and in my case, to my initial Welcome page, then just click and drag your existing .Mac site address from the browser (Safari) to the top banner in your iWeb page and drop it along with all the other pages you have listed at the top.
Jeez, it worked the first time!
I guess there's a reason they take the time to type these Help files...

Thank you very much. The last one youve send me looks the most what i have in mind. With some thumbnails and when you click on it you see a larger document.

Is there an easy way to remove duplicates in my Mac OS X Mail mailboxes?

Having imported some mailboxes from other applications I find that there are many duplicate messages in Mail mailboxes. I know this comes about from my lack of care in importing. I'd like to eliminate the duplicates, but obviously doing so one by one would be quite a task. I have little expectation that there's an easy way to do this, but I can always hope. Is there a way? Mail Scripts was a good suggestion but I doesn't work. Well what do you expect with freeware. I ran the duplicate catcher script several times, once on a rather large mailbox which I know contains hundreds of duplicates and it found 1 (one). As suggested I checked "Take all accounts offline" before I ran the script. Does anyone know a different program that can eliminate those duplicates? I'd really appreciate one that works.

Is there an easy way to move mailboxes from my Mac to MobileMe?

I spent quite a bit of time this past weekend doing it one by one and thought there must be a better way. I have alot of emails in Mail "On my Mac" [not on mobile me] because of moving mboxes from one program to Mail. They are all there in "On my Mac" but I want some [all?] of them in "MobileMe" - I have the accounts set up right, current email is coming in just fine, but these older emails are not on MobileMe but I do want them there.
Is there any way to accomplish this short of doing it, as I did last time, one by one???

Are they messages that were addressed to your MobileMe account?
You should be able to either create a new folder to be on the MobileMe server, and then select all the messages in any one On My Mac mailbox and move them. I would personally use the Move To command in the pull-down under Messages to do this, but they can be dragged en mass.

Easy way to throw iPhone pictures onto Mac

I think it'd be great if I could just throw pictures onto my mac instead of having to email them to myself. How can I do this? I see this iCloud share but..when I shared it with myself I don't see anything on icloud.com or my email or anywhere.

Any easier way to linking audio-a and video-v files?

Hi everyone
I've received some DV-Clips from a friend of mine who captures his videomaterial into split audio and video files. Now I don't like working with these split files and would like to relink these into one file with audio and video integrated. And if possible do this in some kind of batch function.
I could export the corresponding audio and video files from final cut into one file. But seeing that there are quite alot of clips to manage, that's seems a bit of a boring task. Any ideas? I've tried looking through my manuals and asking help, but haven't found anything yet.

You could nest or add the audio to the video at the QT level via QT player and re-import.
I work with them split almost always, remember hit bb to bring up the razor all. This will chop both at the same time.

Easy way to change large number of macs to Auto proxy (.pac) file

Hello all,
I need to change a large number of machines over to using a pac file instead of the current settings for secure and web proxys.
It's not possible using 10.4 CLI command "networksetup" but I'm wondering if anyone may have another way of doing this ? Possibly a script or something ???
I have seen in the 10.5 version this is now possible, but don't know how (or if it's possible) to get the new "networksetup" to work in 10.4 ...

The site has been around for years, and has done ok on a few search terms, but on others it is doing very poorly... and I believe that these changes will only improve things. As currently the descriptions arent very good.

Firefox 20 is a bad joke. From now on, I am disabling automatic updates. I don't care about security from FF. I have done other things that keep me secure; I don't need bad programming messing up my browsing.
I like the flexibility of FF, but your highly frequent updates have led to mistakes, and a poor user experience. Please be more careful and release new major updates no more often than once every six months.
As for me, there is a javascript error that pops a box up, saying "Error: missing ( after for" every few seconds. Really annoying, to the degree that I might switch to Chrome.

Both of you need to do some basic troubleshooting to find out the '''real cause''' of your problems related to the Firefox 20 update, which is probably an issue with an add-on you have installed.

On the Mac the path is HDD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Then follow the renaming of the three folders as described:
Adobe PCD -> Adobe PCDold
backup -> backupold
caps -> capsold
This circumvented the error on my system.

When I send a pic via email the pic is either not there or smashed. I have chosen send attachement as a widows file.

Try turning them into a zip file before attaching. From Finder Help:
Compress and uncompress files and folders

Is there an easy way to find out your Bind Variables?

There are times I get called on a Production Performance problem a little too late. The only way I can trace what happened is by running Statspack reports for an hour or two earlier. But the Top sql comes with bind variables. And without knowing the actual data value it is difficult for us to guess if that is the problematic sql. Is there an way we can find the value for these Bind variables back in time?

What Oracle version are you on?
In Oracle 10g, V$SQL_BIND_CATPURE view provides what you want. But keep in mind that bind capturing in not happening on the fly. When the SQL statement is compiled(hard parse), the bind value is captured. And after Oracle periodically updates the bind value.
If AWR is enabled which is default, you have DBA_HIST_SQLBIND view which provides historical snapshots for V$SQL_BIND_CAPTURE. This may be helpful for you.
Not in Oracle 10g, it's beyond my knowledge. :)

How to make new Mac Pro with iWeb 08 see my existing .mac site.

About a year ago I bought a new Mac Pro. Before that I had a G4 that I had used with an older version of iWeb to create a basic website for my business. I figured with the new Mac when I opened iWeb 08 it would see my .mac settings in System prefs and automatically open it but it does not. It will only let me creat a new site, there is no way to redirect it to an existing site.
Anyone know how I do this or what I am doing wrong?

Will existing mac site continue to show after transfer to new host?

I am preparing to transfer my mac iWeb site to GoDaddy in preparation for the June close down. And I don't have a domain name so will buy one from them too.
If I do all this now, will my website continue to show on web.me.com until June 30, or will it disappear from there immediately I transfer to GoDaddy?
Also is it possible to give the new site exactly the same address as the present one? I'm guessing it is not possible. But if it is, then I would prefer do that and forgo the chance to have both sites running together - if indeed that is possible.

If you want to automatically redirect visitors to your GoDaddy website from your MMe site see the Redirection section of Page 2 of Roger Wilmut's Migrating from MobileMe website. Method 2 can be applied using the iWeb SEO app (Site Settings section) to the MMe version while they are on the MMe server.
Another method would be to add the following code to each page of the MMe site again using the Site Settings section of iWeb SEO:

Each page would have a different entry based on the page name.

There are two ways - you can boot your old Mac in Target Mode (reboot your Mac, and as soon as you hear the startup chime hold down the T key on the keyboard until you see the yellow/orange Firewire logo on screen). You can then use a FireWire cable to connect your new mac to your old one. The old Mac hard drive will appear on your new Mac as if it is an external hard drive.

If you don't have a firewire cable but you do have a home network (i.e. both computers can access the Internet at the same time), you can share the hard drive on your old Mac and then connect to it on your new Mac.

Finally, if the above doesn't thrill you, you can hook an external drive to your old Mac, copy the mail folder over to it, then connect the external drive to your new Mac and copy it over. It's two steps, but if you don't have a firewire cable and aren't comfortable with sharing over a network it will work just as well - you just have to wait for the mail folder to copy twice instead of once.
