Easylink Advisor tells me my wireless radio is off!!!!

I have downloaded the settings from our WRG54G Router to a flash drive.  I have set up 4 computers to connect to the internet using the flash drive settings.  Now on this fifth computer the advisor says the wireless radio is off.  In fact the wireless radio is ON.  How can i make it recognize that the wireless radio is on?

Originally, I did that.  Unfortunately, we are on a secured network and no one could remember the password (that's why I downloaded the setting to a flash drive to begin with).
Someone told my to type the Linksys IP address into the search box.  When I did, Linksys asked me for a user name and password.  UGGHH!!  So, we just played with various combinations until we got the correct one.  Once I got into Linksys, we found out the security key. We got the laptop online no problem.

  • M276nw wireless radio turns off

Every day after work, my brand-new M276nw's wireless radio turns off. The blue wireless light blinks, and the printer needs to be restarted for it to work again. All ecoSMART settings are turned off, and otherwise everything seems to be fine.

Sarten, sounds like you are having some issues with your printer and your network. Have you tried re-running the wireless setup wizared and then applying a static/manual IP address? Here is an informational video on the basics of how to do this.

  • C7250 wireless radio shows off

I just installed a new router and when setting up my printer ( HP 7250)it  published a diagnostic report saying "wireless radio is not functioning"  What can I do to get it back on?

Here is what I found in the manual to turn the wireless radio back on:
Turn the wireless radio on and off
The wireless radio is off by default. In order to stay connected to a wireless network, the
radio must stay on. When the radio is on, the blue light on the front of the HP All-in-One
is lit. However, if the HP All-in-One is connected to a wired network or you have a USB
connection, the radio is not used. In this case you might want to turn the radio off.
    1. On the control panel of the HP All-in-One, press Setup.
    2. Press until Network is highlighted, and then press OK.
    3. Press until Wireless Radio is highlighted, and then press OK.
    4. Press to highlight On or Off, and then press OK.
    Print the wireless network test
The wireless network test performs a series of diagnostic tests to determine whether
network setup is successful. The wireless network test prints automatically when the
Wireless Setup Wizard is run. You also can print the wireless network test at any time.
    1. On the control panel of the HP All-in-One, press Setup.
    2. Press until Network is highlighted, and then press OK.
    3. Press until Wireless Network Test is highlighted, and then press OK.
    The Wireless Network Test prints.

  • Wireless radio turns off every 2 minutes

I have a Thinkpad Z60t, running Windows XP.
I have the physical wireless switch on the side panel set to the on position (i.e. to the right).
Initially, I am able to connect to any wireless network without a problem. However, after about 2 minutes of not actively using the internet, the green "wireless radio" status light on the front panel turns off and I lose my internet connection. I then have to do "Fn + F5" (or ThinkVantage button -> Manage My Connections -> Power On/Off Wireless Radios) to turn it back on (and get the status light to be green again). I then have to reconnect to the wireless network.
I believe this is a common issue. I have tried several suggestions I found on other forums, including ThinkVantage button -> Manage My Connections -> Select Location Profiles -> Open Access Connections -> Configure -> Location Switching -> UNSELECT "Enable automatic location switching". This method actually seemed to work for a few hours, but then stopped.
I am certain that my wireless network is stable - my roommate's laptop does not lose the signal every 2 minutes like I do. I think my laptop's wireless radio automatically shuts off after 2 minutes of no use, and this feature needs to be disabled somehow.
Please help. I am getting frustrated of having to manually reconnect every 2 minutes.

    Go to Solution.

open control panel, go under system, hardware/system property, then go into the device manager.
Under the wireless card property (right click on the wireless card and select property), there are settings for roaming aggressiveness, power saving and power output.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m - Wireless Radio turned off

I am trying to set up my printer with the new router.  When I turned on my printer, the green wireless light comes on.  When I run the Network Test, I get the message "The Wireless radio on your HP printer is currently turned OFF. To connect wirelessly, you must turn ON the wireless radio on your HP printer.  Then the wireless light goes out.
I can't figure out how to turn on the wireless radio.  Help!

Setting a static IP address may help this issue:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Windows 7 64 bit has problems with Actiontec MI424WR while wired with wireless radio off

I have discovered an issue with Windows 7 64 bit OS.  My attempted set up was to havea 802.11n Belkin Play router connected to my Actiontec MI424WR router as a wireless access point with the MI424WR wireless radio turned off.  This worked fine for my XP 32 bit PC, my Windows 7 32 bit PC, and my 2 Windows 7 64 bit laptops using wireless.  A problem arose when I tried wired connections on the Windows 7 64 bit laptops and a Windows 7 64 bit PC.
While wired, internet would drop either completely or intermittently but too frequently to be useful.  Tech support had no idea what to do or what caused it.  It was reproducible after a reset of the router and then turning off the wireless radio.
I could fix it by turning on the wireless radio again, but I had hoped to turn it off and only use wireless from the 802.11n router.
    Any ideas?
    Brian

Did you disconnect wireless on the 2 Windows 7 64 bit machines while testing wired?
What is the connection between the Actiontec and the Belkin?  LAN-to-WAN or LAN-to-LAN?
If the connection is LAN-to_LAN, the wireless connection on each machine would have obtained a DHCP address from the Actiontec.  When you connected wired, you would have gotten a new IP address based on the different MAC address of the wired NIC, resulting in the machine having 2 IP addresses.  This may not be readily apparent on the Actiontec main status page as the second connection will get a generated name of "new-host-xx" (the router can't reuse the same PC name for 2 different IP addresses).  Windows should be able to keep the two connections on the same subnet straight, but I've seen WIndows do stranger things.
If the connection is LAN-to-WAN, the Belkin must have a different subnet address than the Actiontec (e.g.. 192.168.2.x).  Now, if you connect both wired to the Actiontec (192.168.1.x) and wireless via the Belkin (192.168.2.x), Windows is going to have connections to two different subnets with two different gateway routers. Without explicit routing rules, Windows won't know which gateway to use.

  • Unablle to turn on wireless radio

We have an IBM Thikpad. we are unable to turn on the wireless readio. We have turned the switch on, the light is on and we have tried to power on the switch from the Think vantage instructions. We have spent hours trying to solve this problem. Please Help

I never ever thought I would be writing this but am totally frustrated with Lenovo and i guess it is time to move on and give another brand a try. I have owed Thinkpads going on 20 years and currently have 4 laptops, 2 X301's 1 T400 and a T500 in my family and they al have the same problems connecting wirelessly.
I cannot connect to the interent because it is telling me my wireless radio is off but it will not allow me to click on it to turn it on. On my actually laptop the wireless beacon is glowing brightly. And you I have turned off and on the wireless switch about a 100 times.
I have tried everything even uninstalling access connections ( at one time it worked great on all 4 ) now not so much,
What has bugged me is that no one from Lenovo can offer ANY TYPE suggestions as a fix and that is why I am frustrated. I have seen several posts on this subject so I know I am not alone.
Although the X1 carbons got my attention- I think this go round I will pass.

  • Toolbox software for Win7 makes your wireless radio fail

I have a problem with my X60 Lenovo and the new toolbox software for windows 7.
After installing this new toolbox for windows7 the wireless radio turnes off and cannot be turned on ever again.
Only restoring a backup made just before installing the toolbox solved the problem. All other possible solutions failed. One other solution: Also you can go back to a recovery point made bij windows to remove the toolbox. Because as already said: even uninstalling the toolbox program (remove program) doesn't help, too.
I like the 'old' productivity center much more than the toolbox. The toolbox starts up slow and adds not really new features. My advice: don't install the toolbox. Just a waste of MB of your harddisk.

Since purchasing the unit I was unable to use it in my home network, as it wouldn't work across subnets. I have a secure wireless Zone which issues different IP Addresses from my internal network range. Following a number of unsuccessful emails to tech support, I gave up and threw it back in the box. I recently moved house and installed another wireless lan for the music blaster to work, however cannot find the initial install cd, and have been unsuccessful finding the download anywhere for it. Did anyone ever manage to find the software, or has it been archi'ved due to it's failings?Come on Creative, I have been using your products successfully for over 0 years, but?this is by far the worst!

  • X220i wireless radio and hotkeys won't work after hibernation

I just bought an X220i laptop. I've spent a weekend downloading updates and drivers and searching the forum and support site, but I have two unresolved issues. Once I bring the computer back from hibernation, the wireless radio is off and will not turn back on. I can bring up the dialogue box, click the "turn on" button, and nothing happens. The only way to restor the wireless connection is to reboot the machine.
A related, but less frustrating, problem is that after hibernation, none of the hotkeys work. Again, rebooting is required to use any hotkey functions. Both of these problems occur after hibernation mode only. They do not happen when the laptop recovers from sleep mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using the preloaded Windows 7?
Can you try running System Update (search in the Start menu) and having it update your drivers?
Unfortunately, System Update often fails to offer the latest versions available, a serious problem.
(See BUG: System Update fails to offer latest versions of some components)
So after running System Update, be sure to check Drivers and software - ThinkPad X220, X220 Tablet, X220i, X220i Tablet (MIGR-77280) and manually install whatever was missed by System Update.
    Hope that helps,

  • Wireless stopped working, can't power on 'wireless radio'

All of sudden my wireless stopped working on my T60.  While trying to solve the problem, i noticed my 'wireless radio' is off (when i clicked 'fn+F5' to check),  and i cannot power it on from here.  I'm guessing this is the problem, but can't figure out how to turn it on again.  (My switch is on the front of the laptop for wireless radio is switched on.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Please try a system restore, it´s the simpliest way to get back to work.

  • Wireless-G Model WRT54GS V7 Firmware 7.50.0 - easylink Advisor 1.5.1044

    I have a Wireless-G Model WRT54GS V7.50.0 Firmware for easylink Advisor 1.5.1044
Connected to a highspeed connection, and then connected (Hardwired in port 1 of router) to a Dell system running XP SP3.
I bought a new Laptop that is running Windows 7 and the laptop causes the connections to drop when it is powered on.
Then the laptop is always dropping the connection and re-establishing the connection. Is this problem because of windows 7?
If I do not bring the laptop up, i can run the desktop with no problem. Running WPA security mode.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
    John

Is your Desktop computer is a Wired or Wireless? Are you facing the problem only on your Windows 7 Computer or on all the wireless computers?
You can try to change the Wireless Settings on your Router and check if that makes any difference...
Login to the setup page of your Router and click on the Wireless tab.... and below change the Wireless Channel to 11-2.462GHz and click on Save settings.... Then click on the Sub tab "Advance Wireless Settings" and below Change the Beacon Interval to 50 .....Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 ....Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Can ONLY connect wireless by using wire & EasyLink Advisor first - help!

    Hello,
Installed a new WRT54GS for a friend's business.  I've tried several laptops, and always get the same result:  I can see and connect to the WLAN's SSID just fine after providing the WEP key.  However, it times out trying to get an IP address from the router.  I can manually enter an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server that I know are valid, and it still won't connect.  (Example: 192.168.1.105; 255.255.255.0; 192.168.1.1; 192.168.2.1)  Still get zero packets received.  Now, if I connect the laptop to the router and run EasyLink Advisor, it will get settings from the router, and eventually connect to the WLAN just fine.  The laptop will then stay connected just fine until a reboot.  After a reboot, I'm back where I started.  I haven't changed many defaults at all on the router.  It's set as a DHCP server, with a pool of 50 addresses beginning at 192.168.1.100.
Again, DHCP fails unless I first use a wire and EasyLink Advisor.  Any ideas how to resolve this so I don't have to go through this process each time?

Thanks for the reply.  I can't get back to the machine for a couple days.  I assume you mean disable the firewall on the laptops I'm trying to connect, right?  3 different laptops all failed to connect, and I'm sure they don't all have AVG.  (I'm not sure any of them do.)  I have Symantec Corporate AV on mine, and I connect to several other WLANs without a problem.

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it. If you have not done this since the last firmware upgrade, please do this now.
If you need more help, you will need to tell us more details of your problems.
Please state the model and version of your router.
Please state the make and exact model number of your modem.
    Please state your ISP.
Also, describe exactly what is happening on your network when your system disconnects. Are all computers disconnected from the Intenet? Or only the wireless computers? What is running on the computers when your system crashes? a game? P2P software? other?
Also, please connect your computer directly to your modem. Verify that you can get a working Internet connection, then do the following:
Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig /all" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Post your results.
