Eaton UPS 600 ASR USBS keeps awake my iMac

Hi!!
i bought last week an UPS Eaton Ellipse 600VA USBS ASR.
I plugged to my mac and everything is alright (i can see the icon showing the charge), but when i set 'sleep' in my mac, just "sleeps" around 30 seconds. Then, wakes up automatically.
This just happen when the usb between UPS and iMac is plugged. If i unplug it, everything's ok and my imac sleeps perfectly.
I did not install any driver (as far as i know, is no necessary). I´ve tried with software such like PleaseSleep but the problem continues.... What can i do?

Well that particular bug (and others that they mention) would indicate that the unit is not actually Snow Leopard compatible but that it simply kind of works.
The bug that they do mention would certainly indicate that their UPS is not capable of communicating properly with SL. My guess is that if you email them and they respond they will indicate that this is a "bug" as well.
If you do contact them, ask when you can expect updated (read Snow Leopard compatible) drivers and software.
If it isn't too late you may want to return this unit and get something that is known to be compatible.

IS EATON UPS COMPATIBLE WITH IMAC

I have an Eaton 5S UPS. It is supposed to be Apple compatible and detected by OS X when plugged into the USB port.
My iMac 27 (2012) does not recognise the device at all. Have tried another USB cable and several USB ports on iMac but still not recognised by iMac.
Eaton say there may be a problem with the device and ro return it under warranty. But before I do this I was wondering if this is an issue others have had with Eaton UPS.

There was no software with the UPS. When I looked at Eaton website there were mainly Windows downloads. The Mac downloads were both old and did not work on my Mac!
So I contacted Eaton support. They said my Mac should just recognize the UPS attached once USB plugged in of course.
Thanks for your suggestions. I think I will do what Eaton support have advised and return the unit under warranty albeit a hassle! Hopefully they can sort it for me.

Battery drain..Keep Awake Issue

I'm having occasional issues on my Maxx with my battery draining.alot of times its over night even know I use the Smart Action for this not to happen.The times it drains,its like 50% just over night,and when I check it its always when the Android OS is at a high percentage and when I check that its when the Keep Awake is at like 8 hrs.Sometimes it doesnt do it and the Keep Awake is at like 2 or 3 hrs.Not running anything different than before this started about a month or 2 ago.Any suggestions as to what makes the Keep Awake does that?
With my normal phone useage,I used to get between 45-55hrs on a charge.now i'm lucky to get between 25-32.Whats draining it?Like I said I havent changed anything on it..apps or anything.

If there's a major change in your phone's performance after a big overhaul like a firmware upgrade, it may be that some of the applications are not communicating with the update right and the phone may need to be reset. E71 update problem - USB keeps disconnecting

Hi,
I am trying to update my phone (E71)'s software through the Nokia Suite or whatever on the PC but when it gets to the installation process I am unable to continue because the USB keeps disconnecting every five seconds.
Is there any other way of updating this model?
I've had it for four years so maybe it's just too old and forgetful to be updated

HI tasclix, it depends what you mean by an OS X boot drive.
If you want a recovery disk from which you can reinstall (by re-downloading) or recover from a time machine backup, then nbar is correct.
If, however, you want to boot and run the OS X installer from the USB drive (so that you don't need to download again), then you will need a copy of "Install OS X Mavericks.app"; see this article:

Before downloading again, search your system to see if the installer is still there - it's usually in the /Applications folder unless it has been deleted, but check your whole system for it anyway, you never know, you might still have it somewhere.

USB ports on my iMac not working

I tried to connect a battery from something else through a USB port on my iMac and there was a prompt that "the device was drawing too much power and that the USB port will be shut down". I, being foolish enough,plugged it in the other USB port and the same thing happened and this time the computer automatically shut down. I turned it on and neither of the 2 USB ports (out of the total 4) have been working since then.
I tried shutting the the computer down and restarting after an hour but they're still not working. Does anyone know how to fix this!!!

Sounds like the port overload protection for those ports has tripped.
Reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
4. Release the power button.
5. Attach the computers power cable.
6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Then if that does not reset them, disconnect everything and let the iMac sit disconnected for 10 or 15 minutes.

You can setup an iCloud account and sync your Macs since you have Lion installed on both. If you have iCloud enabled, if for example you add a bookmark in Safari, that bookmark will sync via your Wi-Fi network to the other Mac automatically.

From the Mail menu bar, select
Mail ▹ Preferences... ▹ Accounts
Select one of your IMAP accounts in the list on the left, then open the Mailbox Behaviors tab, Uncheck the box marked
Store deleted messages on the server
Do the same in your other IMAP accounts. Save the changes when prompted.

First is the most USB ports do not provide enough power to charge an iPad. Do not try and charge your iPad from such USB ports.
There is no 240v charger. There is one charger that will work with US voltages and European voltages. If your iPad is not charger with the charger, make certain that is an iPad charger, not an iPhone charger. If the charger does not work try swapping the cable as the cable may be bad. If that does not work try another charger. All simple steps that should be attempted before pinning the problem on IOS 8.

The USB ports on my iMac work fine in some locations, but if the iMac is in my office, nothing happens when I click the mouse.

The USB ports on my iMac (purchased in 2013) were working fine. Suddenly, clicking my mouse elicits no response. When I move the iMac to the Apple store, it works fine -- and it works fine in other rooms in my house. Why won't it work in my study?

Have you tried plugging the mouse into another USB port on your Mac? Try gently wiggling the connector at each end of the calble while trying to use the mouse.

USB Boroadband Modem and iMac G%

Hi can somebody please advise me on the following:
I have an 20 inch iMac G5 fitted with Airport Extreme, Bluetooth and 1256 RAM using the following software: System Software Overview:
System Version:     Mac OS X 10.3.9 (7W98)
Kernel Version:     Darwin 7.9.0
which up to now I have connected to the Internet using the internal Apple Modem. Have now decided to go on to Broadband and my provider, Plusnet, has provided me with a Voyager 105: USB ADSL Modem Since connecting the Voyager I have experience the following problems:
A)     Having been on the Internet when I shut down my iMac G5 after approximately 1 minute I can hear a loud noise coming from the computer that otherwise appears to be shut down. Im fairly certain this is the hard drive working flat out but it could also be the Fans.
B)      If I disconnect the USB Voyager this does not happen.
C)     If with the Voyager connected I power up the computer and use it without going on the Internet and then shut down this does not happen.
D)     If the Voyager is not connected the iMac G5 works normally.
E)      Having been on the Internet the iMac will not follow the Normal Restart procedure but freezes after shut down.
F)      Having been on the Internet the iMac and shutting down the iMac it will not Startup using the Normal Button at the rear.
My interim solution to these problems is to switch the Power Switch Off at the wall after shutting down but I dont like having to do this. I understand that there is a compatibility problem with some / or all USB Modems and my iMac G5 / Software. Is there a solution to these problems? Or do I need to change my provider / USB Modem?
I had thought of changing to a Belkin F5D7633 UK 4A ADSL 2 + Modem with 125MBPS Wireless G Router, this can connected by wireless or by Ethernet.

You may not be aware of this but ISP's have been issuing uk users with usb adsl modems of over 5 years now. In those 5 years they have never worked properly with a Macintosh.
This is not a fault with Mac it is an issue with the drivers that are written for the USB modems.
The solution is to replace the USB modem with an ADSL wifi router. This type of adsl router will be compatible with airport extreme where as your usb modem cannot be used wirelessly.
An adsl router requires no drivers so runs on any platform. It will also give you security as most adsl routers give you a hardware firewall. So yes just change to an ethernet adsl router.

Two UPS units on USB

Here's a bit of a challenge for someone, please:
I have two Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS's) connected via (hubs) on the USB bus to my G5 (DP 2 GHz) running 10.4.10.
In the menu bar (top right) I have a battery level indicator showing the percentage charge of one (or both?) of the UPS' battery/batteries.
If I unplug one, I get a display (%); if I unplug the other I get a display (%).
If I plug both UPS' USB cables into my hub I get - of course - one % display; but it varies.
Can Tiger distinguish between USB UPS cables?
Can it detect percentages for both?
If so, how?
How do I know which battery level (that is, from which of my two UPS units) is being displayed in the menu bar at any one time when both are connected?!

Hi. Think you will have to settle for keeping the USB control port/lead of the APC/G5 UPS connected to the G5 permanently, to get the benefit of the unattended-shutdown-when-battery-nearly-exhausted feature of Energy Saver - and battery monitoring, if you wish to keep an eye on the suspect new battery.
When you wish to checkout the Belkin battery, you will have to disconnect the APC USB lead, and connect the Belkin instead. Don't think Energy Saver will be able to cope with two concurrent UPS USB connections - or display any sensible info about them.

As I recall it was primitive compared to Energy Saver - and did not have the UPS management capability available in the PC version. And you would still have the problem with Energy Saver, if you connect two USB control port outlets from two UPSes at the same time.

Pearl 8120: USB keeps reloading and reloading

I installed a MicroSD and now when I plug in my phone into the USB, the USB will load. However, it will keep reloading and reloading the drive making it impossible for me to transfer files using both the Mass Storage mode using 'My computer' or Roxio Media Manager. I tried changing the settings for Media card for auto enable mass storage when connected to 'yes', 'no', and 'prompt' but it still just keeps reloading, leaves the drive alone for 5-45 secs then reloads the drive. BTW, this is when I have both the desktop manager on and off. I have a feeling it has to be something with the mass storage mode because it worked fine before I put a micro SD card in it. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? Any Ideas?

Your OS .52 is quite old... upgrade.
Download and instructions are in this link. Pretty simple process. Just do your own backup FIRST, using Desktop Manager.
