EAX options dissape

Hi, I was setting up my EAX settings to my Audigy 2 ZS ( got Cosonic 5. Home theater headphones ) I set it up to Environment Garage and changed the CMSS 3D to the 2nd option i think it was.
While i was mixing around with the diff settings i was listening to music so i could hear wich was best. So after i found some perfect settings wich gave me really good sound i started my Counter Strike game ( same for other games bfore also ) and when i started it all my EAX settings dissapeared and now when i check in the options i can only click the square where it says use EAX but the options that u select ( environment etc ) is completely gone.. anyone know what the problem might be ? i wanna be able to use my EAX in games wich was the reason i bought my A 2 ZS
Edit: btw they come back everytime i update my EAX with web update but i dont wanna update/reboot my pc after every time i've played a game
thx in advanceMessage Edited by Danne on 09-4-2005 05:06 PM

I had this problem also and solved it by reinstalling the drivers, and selecting "Overwrite Creative shared files". You will have to extract the drivers first, go into the drivers directory and run the setup from there to have this option appear.
Always have this option selected when playing around with drivers otherwise a lot of files will remain, some of them incompatible with the driver version you are installing. This is also true for OpenAL games, if you do not select this option, they will either run in software mode or not run at all!

  • EAX option disappeared for X

    Hi,
strange problem yesterday. In the middle of a game of Everquest 2 the sound suddenly went funny. Investigating in the options I noticed that sound was set to Miles Fast blah blah sound format and EAX was not in the list.
I restarted and checked the X-Fi control panel but everything was as normal. Started up NWN2 and a few other games and EAX was not selectable or not an option.
Any one else seen this? I'll try reinstalling the drivers tonight but that is always a pain in the A.

    Hey diadulus,
the actual problem was I installed a logitech webcam and the echo cancellation software it comes with for the mic screws up X-Fi's and directx.
The webcam I got was a logitech 5000 something. Check logitech site as there is a huge thread complaining about this.
check dxdiag.exe and goto the sound page, if you have this problem the sound card hardware acceleration level will be set back to lowest.

  • Alchemy and EAX doesn't w

    Hi
I'm trying to get EAX sound working in games using Vista, X-Fi Extreme Music and Creative Alchemy.
I've installed alchemy and added the games in the console yet the EAX options in game are still greyed out.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Yes I managed to get it working. Seems I didn't choose to install EAX Unified when installing Tomb Raider angel Of Darkness.

    Hi all,
I have X-Fi Xtreme Music card and I've noticed that in some games, e.g. F.E.A.R., that I can't enable the EAX options and/or the hardware mixing. I've noticed this in several other games as well.
    Suggestions?

I didn't know that... I'm running x64 with 4 gigs of RAM which explains things. A number of other games have this same problem...can't enable EAX options or hardware mixing. Thanks for the info.

  • EAX not being recogni

    Hi All,
An ongoing problem I've had for a while and finally decided to see if anyone here has an answer. I've through all the FAQ's and troubleshooting variations here and found no help.
I have a Pentium 4 3.2ghz, with a MSI motherboard (which has a SoundMax sound card built-in), gigabyte memory, Windows XP Home (upgraded to Service Pack 2) and ATI Radeon 28mb Pro.
When I upgraded to this system, I couldn't afford to upgrade my sound-card AS well, so I brought over my trusty SoundBlaster Li've! 5.. I have installed both UnivDrv and things appear to be working OK.
However, a couple of programs (games) I've used do not recognise that I have EAX available, in fact they ignored my default sound hardware (SBLi've!) and tried to use the SoundMax and in one case defaulted to Windows drivers?
I've since figured out how to disable the SoundMax and although the hardware default is now recognised correctly they will not recognise the EAX option. Sound works fine, but I assume it would be even better if I could access my EAX!
The current bugbear is "Knights of the Republic II: The Sith Lords". The sound works, but in the sound options menu EAX is disabled and cannot be turned on. Running LucasArts detection program gives out Multi Media Audio Controller!
    Any ideas or help? PLEASE!!

Thanks for the response guys, but I finally cracked my problem some weeks ago. Yes, Gilgamesh I also thought there might be a clash with the onboard SoundMax and although you cannot delete it, you can (and I did) disable it, but that made no difference.
In the end, I did have a vague recollection of having problems before on my old computer and it was related to anti-virus software. So, I uninstalled the then current version of the Creative sound card drivers, removed all references to Creative in the register (via the "regedit" command) and deleted any and all relevant folders as well.
I then did the same for my anti-virus AND firewall software (I have Norton).
After re-booting, I then FIRST, re-installed my Creative software from my original disc. Then I downloaded the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG) and the Li'veDrvPack_Patch and installed them over the old drivers. When I tested the soundcard everything came up green - great so far!
    I re-booted, and then SECOND, I re-installed my Norton anti-virus and firewall.
Upon re-boot I ran KOTOR 2 and in the sound section, not only did I have EAX, I had EAX2 as well !!(obviously the Li'veDrv patches updated my original software to EAX2)
I did not realise how much had been missing soundwise without EAX/EAX2, especially as I have recently got myself a pair of 5. headphones - AMAAAAZZZZINNNGGG!!!!! :smileysurprised:
Only problem now is I don't deafen myself in the process with all this luxurious sound LOL!! :smileyvery-happy:
Anyway, I'm happy now so maybe this might help you Petones (newbie)? One thing, you MUST remove all references to both the soundcard AND the anti-virus/firewall in the Registry before re-installing anything.

  • How to apply eax effects with x-fi xtreme music on my mp3 collection?

Hi. I am new in pc audio but as I understand it, eax is hardware effect and can be applied only in real time to any audio source. I find amphitheatre effect fantastic so I would like to know if there is any way to record my mp3s with applied effect in order to listen them on my car audio player (it would be some kind of DSP option in a car). The easiest (and fastest) solution would be to use Adobe Auditon or some similar software but I want EAX. I tried to use "audio creation mode" and in "what you hear" mode, record in real time my mp3s with "enable eax" option checked but no effect was applied (I checked "monitor recording" mode). Any experiences? Thanks in advance.

Because of the EAX is in output, you'll need to use "What U Hear" as recording source to get the effect added into source. This means that you need to play the data using another software than which one you're using for recording. While I was using Audigy 2, this was quite eay to do but I don't know the X-Fi ... especially if you're using Vista. Another possible method is to record the output of your card ... loopback cable Front out --> Line-In, etc.
There are also other methods available but, you'll need then to use VST/DX plugins which gives you same/better results as what you would get from X-Fi DSP even it's maybe 24-bit chip (because of the 'resolution' of the final mp3 format you're thinking of (16-bit, 44.1kHz/48kHz, 320kbps). If your collection is already stored as mp3 format files then, it's quite hard work to add those effects ... you'll need some software that imports mp3 format then add the effect you like and then export to mp3 format.
Also, the car is quite different space from room+speakers and headphones so, I suggest you to prepare some examples 1st and play those in car enviroment to get the direction needed for settings to get best possible result.

  • How Does EAX For Games W

I am afraid that I've never been able to figure out how to configure my EAX Console to ensure that the EAX is working in my gaqmes. For example, in Far Cry, you can enable hardware mixing and, after that, EAX 2. If I enable these, what do I set in the EAX Console? Enable Audio Effects? If so, what audio effect? You use to be able to select EAX Games under special effects, but that option isn't there unless I import it.
How do I tell what game uses what setting? Other games I want to ensure I have the proper setup for are Half Life 2, Call Of Duty, Medal of Honor, Halo.
Clarification of the exact procedure would be most welcome.

    Foomobile,
For games, with this card, you don't need to set anything up except EAX in the game itself. Just choose an EAX option in the game and that's all you need to do. You don't need to adjust anything in EAX console.
You may want to update to the latest drivers aswell, as they add extra EAX support (EAX 4.0).

  • EAX Console for Audigy LS

Hey all, first post here, hope you can help.
I was recently given an Audigy LS soundcard by a friend as a gift, but without an install cd..so basically I have the soundcard and it's original box, but that's it.
I'd like to enable a few things such as CMSS, and to change a few EAX options as i've having some issues with audio in games...
My question is, bar buying a new cd from creative, is there any other way to get the EAX console? If I do have to buy it I will, but i'm just checking first, thanks

I typed : "audigy LS iso" under emule and found isos for the LS
    go for it.
i don't know about the applications compatibility but some of them might be unlocked to be used with (about) every creative cards.
furthermore, the person who said he would host the file was only for 7 days, so it might be too late.Message Edited by Shingo-Y on 06-02-2005 :29 PM

  • EAX probs with F.E.A

I got a prob (i think), i cant select any of the eax options in fear. They are all greyed out. What can i do to solve this?I have the Sound Blaster? X-Fi Xtreme Gamer - Fatalty Professional Series, so it should work! Right?Thnx,?GenesisMessage Edited by Genesis on 0-7-20072:03 PM

I'm guessing you have 4GB of memory installed on a 64 bit system. I have the same problem. You can temporarily resolve it by doing one of the following:?: remove 2 GB or memory
2: turn of/on your memory remap/memory hole feature on your BIOS
3: add the /maxmem=4096 switch to your boot.ini
4: wait for creative to get off their buts and write some REAL x64 drivers?Basically do ANYTHING to reduce your memory to less than 4GB?If you don't have 4GB of memory, then i would assume that Its a driver installation problemDaniel

  • BioShock 1.1 + EAX + Vista 64bit + X-Fi Xtreme Music = no

I've updated BioShock to v. and EAX option is completely greyed out (disabled). It's suppose to do like this when no Creative hardware is present. But X-Fi XM is there for sure and EAX option should be selectable. I've also tried ALchemy but it doesn't change anything. EAX option is still greyed out.
    My system:
    2.8.0000 BETA drivers
    Vista Home Premium 64bit
    X-Fi Xtreme Music (Retail)
6 GB of RAM (other hardware is not important i think except RAM capacity which seems to be problematic all the time)
I want EAX option to work in BioShock!

I'm well aware that i'm basically screwed if i cannot select the modes (meaning it's basically games fault, if it's not able to properly detect whether i have EAX/OpenAL capable card or not).
Also, since when Xtreme Music isn't a full featured X-Fi card? Rebadged Audigy? Where were you living for the past 5 years huh?
Only X-Fi card thats not really X-Fi is Xtreme Audio. And i'm 5000% sure i have the Xtreme Music version (i even changed it for Retail version because reseller sold me Dell OEM card at first). I'm in the hardware stuff anyway so i'm very sure it's the right one.
I've also downgraded drivers back to 2.5.0006 without any change (yes i used setup.exe and erased all shared files and later used Guru3D Driver Sweeper).
It's funny though that out of BioShock's milions of copies sold there are only 2 guys complaining about this? Thats super funny.
Looks like ppl use integrated crappy audio chips, they don't care or know about EAX or they haven't even updated the game to v..
    Yey...

  • Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music EAX in Entertainment M

Is it real that in Audigy 4 more EAX options then in X-Fi ?

[Your question belongs in the Sound Blaster forum and the moderators will probably move it there when they notice.]
The easiest thing to do is just attach both to the rear Line Out connector using a stereo minijack splitter adapter (such as part # 274-33 at Radio Shack - search the http://www.radioshack.com site for a picture) or equivalent y-cable.
The card appears to have the same connector nearest the rear bracket (on top) as some Audigy-series cards, but the manual explictly instructs to only use this if CL says to. That means the using it could void your warranty. That said, here's a thread with a lot of info on the chassis-connector topic which probably applies:

  • Audigy 4 hardware accelaration/buffer iss

First off let me say that I've been using the Audigy 4 for months now with no problem. I consider myself a person that has above-average computer knowledge. I have done nothing to affect the card in any way as far as I can tell.
I primarily use it for music and gaming, and while playing Call of Duty 2 I noticed it sounded different than normal. So I look around in the audio settings and find that for some reason EAX was turned off. So I go to re-enable that and it throws me a DirectX error of some kind and exited the game. This happened every time I tried to change that setting, so I finally just re-downloaded and re-installed DX 9.0c. That didn't change anything.
Then later on I noticed that under the audio settings for Halo, the "Hardware Acceleration" option was turned off and grayed out. I couldn't even get to the EAX option to try to turn it on.
Running DxDiag showed nothing out of the ordinary, except that the DIrectX acceleration level was down to "basic" rather than "full". Fixing this did nothing either, and I finally ran the DirectSound test. ALl the sounds played, but it popped up with yet another eror that told me that my card doesn't support hardware buffering, so all buffering wil be done by software.
Since then I've completely wiped all Creative software and drivers off my machine twice, and then above and beyond that, I took the card out and booted Windows once just to make sure Windows noticed it was gone. I then popped it back in and did the re-installs.
So I'm at a loss of what to do now.
I haven't recently installed any hardware or software, I've done not one but two completely clean re-installs, but a once-working card has gone from the pristine 5. EAX goodness to being a glorified normal stereo card.
I haven't tried the clean boot, but I seriously doubt it's anything of that nature.
Any ideas to get my hardware acceleration working again?

Hmmm. Had a play to try and fix my card problems and now made things much worse.
I?did the clean sweep thing in the FAQ and ended up losing all sound. The drivers could be removed but any attempt to re-install from my original disc told me that I did not have a Audigy 2 ZS installed. I then removed the card and re-seated, Windows XP found a multimedia audio controller but not Audigy 2 ZS. Again, attempts to install from original disc failed.
In desperation, deleted all files in the various creative folders and also removed all creative keys from the registry. Reseated card and tried again. Same lack of detection from XP but I was able to 'trick' the system into at least giving me centre speaker support by installing the latest downloaded driver from website. I now have basic sound in all applications but nothing from all the 'extra' speakers in my 7. set-up and the only creative product on my PC (Audio Console) won't start (tells me that I do not have an Audigy 2 ZS installed).
So now I want to know how I can download/re-install all of the various EAX/THX/Diagnostics/Calibrators/DTS controllers again and get my system back to where it was yesterday (or ideally, back to how it was 2 years ago when everything worked fine!).
Tried to contact tech support but the website makes it impossible. If any tech support people read this, please let me know how I actually seek support!?!
Is very frustrating having to watch/play 7. games in 2.0 when I have all the extra speakers.......

  • Too much ec

    Installed my X-fi Fatailty.
In game mode the sound echos too much. (Quake 4).
How do I reduce this echo?

    Creative Technical Support wrote:
With regards to the echo issue, games come with their own EAX effects and the
sound signal can only have one effect added only. If there is a second
effect added, the output will not be what you would wish to hear and
have. Thus, it is advised to disable the sound card's EAX effects and
    use the game's EAX options.

  • ZEN TOUCH or Zen Micro? Which is bett

I'm interested in buying one or the other but am unsure which to purchase. I like the fact that Zen Micro has repeat, resume and random play as well as a stand and belt clip. I also like the fact that it has fm radio and comes in lots of colors. But I love the fact that Zen Touch has a larger storage capacity and is already compatible with WMP 0 without having to hopefully download additional software. Which has a better sound capacity? I have quite a bit of songs with a heavy bass from club songs as well as
hip hop/r &b tracks. Also does either player play songs longer than 4 minutes? I have a couple of songs that are about 9 minutes long. I'm looking for one that is the most user friendly and will not be something I'll have to replace anytime soon because I've run out of space. Does anyone know if the the Zrn Touch will be coming out in various colors like the micro? Any insight into a good choice is greatly appreciated.

Many things are taken into consideration between the touch and micro. Here are some.
    Touch
    - has more hard dri've space
2- Has a dedicated volume button and has a mix of buttons and touchpad(lot of ppl like that)
3- People seem to have a lot of prob with the touch software and touch does not offer EAX options
4- The LCD light could use a fixing.
    Micro
    - Smaller HD than the touch (5 GB)
2- Comes with a lot of features for its price. (FM, MIC, date and planner, removable disc mode, etc)
3- Better looking and is more compact and smaller, fits almost newhere.
4 - Software is better and is more reliable, plus removable battery.
    5 - 0 colors to choose from.
6 - Comes with a few of accesories ( Belt clip, stand, pouch)
Final - I have tried both the touch and micro for 2 months respecti'vely and the micro is better cause of its many features and creative really stepped up and fixed many problems that people were having with the touch so i suggest u go with the ZEN micro

  • Audio and speakers issues with the new iTunes 7

    Hi,
I also have an audio problem after installing the new iTunes 7. It seems after iTunes have finished "determining the gapback playback information", all audio from iTunes and Quicktime only comes through my two front speakers. I have a 5.1 setup for my computer and it seems is only a iTunes and Quicktime issue since Windows media plays the audio just fine. Anybody know what the issue could be? I'm on Windows XP by the way.
I have checked my speaker setup and sound card and this problem does not occur in Windows media or any other media software. It seems that it only occurs with iTunes and Quicktime.

Yet another person with the exact same problem, with the same sound card. Everything is up-to-date. I've tried all of the other "fixes" but its either done nothing, or given me use of my rear speakers but added an awful awful ear shattering static. I've tried everything. I even stood on one foot.
Furthermore, my EAX options do not work with iTunes 7 either, though they work with the older versions. I can't even adjust the speaker balance (front to rear, right to left). This is an isolated problem, only with the new iTunes and QuickTime. Everything else on my computer works just dandy, and cooperates with my speakers (5.1 surround) and my EAX settings.
Edited because I said video card, not sound card.. I'm tired, been trying to fix this for an hour.
