Big Celebration for Pay Pal as today they officially once again become separated from Ebay. What does this mean for us? The only thing I remember what we were able to do when Pay Pal was still it own company was we had choices on how we could receive payments from our Ebay sales. Since Pay Pal should now only be an option as one means of collecting payment, will we have that option again? Will we again be able to receive payments in other forms such as bank notes, money orders, cash?

The restriction on sellers demanding cash or money order payments is a Buyer Protection policy.And sellers are already allowed to accept other electronically visible payments . ProPay comes to mind.As mentioned above, buyers can offer to pay with cash or MO or personal cheque. Sellers can then say yes or no. Since I was selling in those days, cheques and cash were a pain. Slow to arrive and we had to wait until the cheques cleared if we were wise.Money orders were better, but US buyers were oblivious to careful explanations about using International MOs. Sending uncashable domestic postal MOs or MOs from podunk banks that were not tied into to international banking system.Then there were the fake Western Union emails. You really need to try this on a computer, not on the iPad.
Seeing how what is in the cloud is also on the iPad, if the content is not on the iPad, there is a good chance that the content is lost. But you can try logging into www.icloud.com in a web browser on a computer and log into your account and see if you can get into the Pages app. You may have to sign up for iCloud drive if you didn't do so already. Make SURE you that you read the blurb that will pop up in that window in iCloud for more information.

It is true that the only way to sync your Mac with iCloud is to upgrad. You need to be running OS X Lion 10.7.2 or higher in order to sync your Mac with iCloud. That shows you that iPhoto is working correctly and whatever issue you are having is based in your original library.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Error while updating software on iphone and it got wiped out, now what?

I was updating my iphone software through iTunes, and there was an error. Now my iPhone won't even show a screen, just an image of a USB cable pointing to an iTunes logo. I rebooted both phone and computer. Nothing. I uninstalled iTunes and all related software per Apple instructions and reinstalled iTunes. Reconnected and...Nothing. Now I am screwed. I can't even use my phone as a phone let alone anything else. Good news is I do have everything that was on it backed up -just how do I get my phone to work again?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I think I have solved this problem on m iPad2 by:
1. Reinstalling my email account.
2. Changing the settings on my PC to stop it from deleting my email from the server before my iPad could load them.
My PC uses Windows Air Mail. I made no known changes to my PC from the time I was running iOS6 to the installation of iOS7 ??? MS did come out with several updates this week??
3. In the same time frame when I was scrolling through web pages the Control Bar popped up every third stroke. It is very easy to change the setting of the Wy Fi setting from On to Off while deleting the unwanted Control Panel without any indication. This means that the Wy Fi must be constantly checked to make sure that is ON???
The three problems at the same time have made this the worst mess to fix in 12 years of internet use. The fix has lasted for about 8 hours at this point, Tomorrow will tell.

I downloaded iPhoto Library upgrader, installed and attempted to use it. It stops in the middle of operation and will not finish. Now I cannot open my iPhoto Library! I'm freaking out a little. When I try to open iPhoto, it tells me I need to "prepare it" with the upgrader program. When I select iPhoto Library as the Library I want to upgrade, it tells me I don't need to upgrade it and should be able to open it with iPhoto. Ugh. Help??

If your photos have any value to you you should have an ongoing backup program - TimeMachine is a good first choice
For this purpose simply duplicating the iphoto library is adequate since you are not trying to protect against human or hardware failures - just against a rare rebuild issue

I was using Firefox 15 but kept getting messages to update to Firefox 17 so I did and now I cannot log into my account at VUDU.com. Which by the way is the only web site I have this problem with. It never happened with ver. 15 and only started to deny access in the past week. So why is the question of the day. What did you guys screw up with ver 17?

Using hardware acceleration means that Firefox uses the GPU instead of the CPU to do some (image) manipulations and you may not notice any effect in Firefox if you disable hardware acceleration.<br />

Recieved a hissing and whining MacBook Pro. Now what to do?

I recieved my week 17 MBP (15,4" - 1.83) last week, and have since been putting it through the paces. Unfortunately it does have some of the problems I've been reading about on this board. Here are the symptoms:
It has a intermittently hiss coming from behind the keyboard, this goes away when turning on the mirror widget. (This must be the CPU noise?)
It has a much louder high-pitched "whine" coming from the screen that becomes noticeable at around 70% screen brightness, and becomes very annoying with the brightness turned all the way up. (Inverter ?)
Temperature-wise I'm a bit puzzled. It does become kinda hot, especially on the "bar" behind the function keys, but The keyboard never comes near "too hot to touch". I've installed CoreDuoTemp and yesterday it was running at around 32-36C constantly. Today it's running at around 60-70C with the same CPU usage.
What do I do now? How do I proceed? And what would be the likely outcome of my actions?
Do I contact Apple, or am i better off just learning to live with the problems and waiting for a potential software fix.
Note: I've bought it through the Apple online store.
It is annoying spending this amount of money on something that seems to be flawed.

Cpu whine: you should get used to it or use work arounds or iTunes.
Screen buzz: it's fixable. Call Apple Care.
Temp: the .kext might not be stable yet, Cryptonome's still working on it. Or your sensors are not working properly (it's less likely though). And there's still no benchmark as to what's the "normal" range. Only thing we know is that Intel says that it's ok up to 100C. If doesn't shut down, should be ok.
Alternatively, and most probably, you can get a swap since you're under the famous 14 days.

Updates and downloads are frozen. Now what do I do?

I have about 3 App updates and one download that are just sitting there saying "waiting...".   It's been that way for the last couple of hours. I have tried powering off and on. I have tried connecting the sync cable and downloading the updates, etc. from my laptop. They downloaded. I synced, but the those same Apps are just sitting there saying "waiting...".
My other Apps work. Apps that use wireless can use it fine.
My iPad has a 14GB capacity.   About 8+ is in use and 5+ is free. I updated to the iOS 5 last week.
What now?

Not sure if this is going to be readable. It looked weird after I posted it.
Now we are getting somewhere. That WAS helpful.   At first when you said "iTunes" I thought, "Oh, no, this guy hasn't even read the problem. There is no iTunes on my iPad. iTunes is on my computer, and I know the problem isn't there."
But you sure sounded like you knew what you were talking about, so I went looking. I clicked on the App Store icon and looked around. No problem there. Then I thought about the "Music" icon. Wasn't that named iTunes before the update or was it iPod? I don't remember.
Lo, and behold!   I clicked on Music, then on Store. There was a red cirlce with a number 5 siting on top of Downloads. I went in there and paused those downloads. I went back out of all of that and looked at the App whose update was previously frozen. It was sitting there completed.
I went to Purchases and chose an old App that I had not yet downloaded. It downloaded with no problem.
But I still had those downloads that were stuck, and there was no way to abort them; I could only pause or restart.. Drawing on previous advice from Demo, I double clicked the Home button, closed Music and iTunes, and did a two button restart thingy. (It might have helped that downloads were set on pause.) When I restart I went into iTunes (oh, found an icon for that, btw, that I hadn't previously seen...duh!) and restarted one of the downloads. It downloaded. So I took them one by one. They have all downloaded, except for two downloads having to do with the Economist Magazine.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM (I think)
I have an App for the Economist Magazine. They evidently have done a complete app replacement rather than an update. I think I no longer have the app that these issues are trying to download to. Could that be the problem? The downloads in question are called "Syria's Crisis" and "Babbage: November 16...".   So I guess you would consider them documents that are somehow linked to a defunct app. I'm just speculating.
So now the question is: How do I get rid of these two stuck downloads.? Keeping them paused will probably solve my original problem, but I would like to clear them out.

Disk mode can be used for accessing the device as an external hard drive, e.g. to use to copy files from one computer to another.
