Ebay displays in tiny fonts in Safari

For some reason, when I visit eBay all the fonts appear tiny in Safari. The same page appears fine in Firefox.
This is very strange as this is the only website where this happens.
Has someone run across this issue and can something be done?
Thanks in advance,
Johannes

Johannes,
Have you tried increasing your minimum font size in the 'Advanced' section of Safari's preferences?

  • How to Change the FONT in Safari?

    Hi
I'm using a Macbook and using the latest version of Safari in it.
Of late, my fonts have changed. And even after changing them to my desired fonts (through Safari Preferences), I could not view the pages in Changed fonts.
For Example, my gmail account was getting displayed in Verdana. And now, its in some obscure font - which is not chosen in preferences. This is not getting changed even after changes made to Preferences. Also, there is no change in the Text Encoding.
I have tried the time tested method of removing Safari and reinstalling the same. Still, I'm facing the same problem.
    Someone please help.

  • TCS3 Frame Conditionl text causing tiny fonts in RH Topics

With a linked FrameMaker book, in the Conversion Settings dialog box > Other Settings, I've selected Apply FrameMaker Conditional Text Build Expression. In FrameMaker I've selected Show as per Expression.
The results are disappointing. In apparently random paragraphs in topics that include conditional text, RH is inserting this in the html:
    <span style="font-size: 4.0pt;">
Sometimes it inserts it alone, and sometimes it includes it with other extraneous information such as:
    <span style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;
    font-size: 4.0pt; letter-spacing: 0.00em;">
There are no paragraph ovrrides in any of these instances, and it only happens when Apply FrameMaker Conditional Text Build Expression is selected. I could build my expressions in Robohelp, but I'd prefer to manage conditions in Frame for reasons such as excluding many sections (topics in RH) that are conditionalized as "print only." With this check box selected, they don't appear in RH; but without it selected, I'd need to conditionalize the topic again in RH.
    Any thoughts?

I just wanted to update in case anyone else has a similar issue.
The problem has gone away and I'm not entirely sure how I did it. I suspect it has to do with how I displayed the conditional text in FrameMaker. Typically I'll just use the Show/Hide dialog box to move conditions to the Show or Hide areas. When I instead built an expression that excluded the conditions (e.g, NOT"Cond1"ANDNOT"Cond2" etc), the problems with the tiny fonts ended. Interestingly, the problem persisted when I built expressions that included conditions.

  • Firefox is not displaying the correct font color on my blog, but other browsers are.

I have a web designer issue. Firefox is not displaying the correct font color on the header in my blog. Explorer, Chrome, and Safari have no problems. The page is in css but this particular section has html code o designate color. The code is as follows:
    <font face="helvetica" color="FF9966" size="1">blog</font>
Though all other browsers display the light orange color designated, Firefox displays white. Strangely, if if retype the code by spelling out a color, Firefox displays it correctly. i.e.
    <font face="helvetica" color="black" size="1">blog</font>
... will give me black. You can see the effect by viewing the link below and looking at the word "blog" in the header, which should be light orange but is not in Firefox.

Actually it also seems to work in the current Firefox 4 beta as it is.
The code is not right though - the correct syntax for the color attribute with hex values is with a # at the start, so:
    color="#FF9966"
It might work in Firefox 3.x if you change that.

  • Tiny fonts in non-global zones in JDS

I have installed the u5 image and configured it to run trusted extensions. I have 3 labeled zones and am running the JDS. Everything seems to be working great with one exception. The non-global, labeled zones' JDS workspaces all have tiny fonts, tiny icons, etc. In fact, in the case of the "computer" icon for "This Computer", it is a completely different icon.
When I look at the desktop preferences, they are the same for each of the zones, including the global zone. All of the font sizes, the display size, dpi, etc seem to be the same (gathered from the Desktop Preferences/Fonts tool). I can make the font on the screen appear larger by increasing the size to something fairly big - a 16 point font setting renders like a 10 point font. xdpyinfo output from each of the zones are the same as in the global zone.
I also noticed that the /etc/X11/.xorg.conf file is only in the global zone. For grins, I copied it to each zone but that didn't solve the problem.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi!
    For example: http://wikis.sun.com/display/SAMQFSDocs/New+Features
You can configure QFS at global zone and then delegate some QFS-FS to local-zones over lofs.
    Regards.

  • Garbage fonts in Safari

I've read through the previous posts on this subject, but none of the solutions seem to work in my case. In Safari, some of the webpages or parts of the webpages come up with garbage text. I've taken a screen shot of one particular site, but I'm not able to attach it here. All of the system fonts are in order in System/Library Fonts. There are also fonts in Library/Fonts and in User/Admin/Library/Fonts. Of course some of the applications also have their own font folders, too.
I thought the problem was with Helvetica, but I've turned off all but the dfont in the System/Library/Fonts folder.
I've been struggling with this problem off and on for a couple of years. I'm losing patience! Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Eam1,
    Welcome to  Discussions.
Two years is a long time to deal with this text/font issue!
Helvetica Fractions & Times Phonetic are best removed.
How do the fonts in Safari display in an other user or test account?
Consider testing Safari in an other account, if you do not have another account, create a test account
Under the Blue Apple ->System Preferences /Accounts/ Login Options, click on the padlock to unlock secure items, use the [+] to add an account,
you could enter test in all the fields, short name will be generated for you.
In Log in Options you can check the Enable fast user switching, alternately
Log Out from your account, & into the test account that you created.
This can help us determine if this is a system wide issue or isolated to your user name account.
Read Kurt Lang's ~ Font Management in Mac OS X see the required fonts to be used for Safari & this Font Finagler can find any corrupt fonts you may have.
I hope you get it sorted, keep us posted.

  • Dynamic Fonts in Safari

Is there any way I can make safari work to display dynamic fonts? there are few regional newspaper websites that use such fonts and safari is not displaying the contents of those websites properly....for example:
    www.anandabazar.com
Any help on this would be very much appreciated...
    Regards,
    Rudra

How would I confirm what font the website
    is using?
I gave you the name. I found it by doing View > Page Source.
Where do I download the font from?
I did a search but could not find it anywhere for download. You could email the site and ask them. It might be that some other non-Unicode Bengali font would work. Sorry I don't have time right now to download them a try them out.
I suspect this particular site may be a hopeless case.
Dynamic fonts are an old, essentially Windows-only technology used mainly by some Asian sites which do not have the knowledge or technology to shift to Unicode, where everyone with any kind of computer can easily download the fonts being used, for example from:
    http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Bengali.html

  • Some fonts in Safari not working

After updating to Safari 3.1, I noticed that some fonts in Safari now display as Helvetica fractions. However, when I use Firefox to view the same Web page, they display fine. I am using Suitcase Fusion 12.1.6 and manage Local Fonts. Some of the local fonts do not appear in the preview pane and say they are missing. I have located them and tried to add them (repaired first, all fonts do not need repair) but Suitcase will crash each time I locate the font.
Also, I noticed in Firefox that it is using the same fonts for the default set as Safari. Times & Courier. Yet these fonts aren't missing in Suitcase, so I am not sure what is happening here.

I am using Suitcase Fusion 12.1.6
12.1.7 is the current version. You should probably update.
but Suitcase will crash each time I locate the font.
Either the font is bad, or Suitcase's database is bad. That it tells you local fonts are missing points more towards a problem with Suitcase.
To reset Suitcase, close the application. It will give you a minor warning about available fonts. Click Quit. If you are NOT using Suitcase's vault, in your user account, go to ~/Library/Application Support/Extensis/Suitcase/ and delete the file:
    Suitcase Font Database.suitcasevault
In the Preferences folder of your user account, delete the file:
    com.extensis.SuitcaseFusion.plist
Relaunch Suitcase. You will need to reset any preferences in the program that you have changed from the defaults. You will also lose any sets you've created.
If you ARE using the vault, following the above steps will cause you to lose all fonts you've added to the vault. If you have backups of all of your fonts, this is no big deal. Otherwise, be forewarned that they will be gone. What you can do is move the database file to the desktop. Then if the problem with Suitcase continues, you've likely eliminated its database as the problem. Then you can quit the app again and move your original database back into the ~/Library/Application Support/Extensis/Suitcase/ folder.
please tell me if I nuke my font caches, how will it affect Suitcase Fusion.
It won't do anything to Suitcase. It doesn't even create them. For the most part, OS X builds your font cache files. If you remove them, the OS will rebuild them when you restart.

  • Java 7 Update 7 and 9 on Mac Lion OS 10.7.4 - Applet printing tiny fonts

As of Java 7, when you go to print from an Applet the fonts are no longer readable (super tiny). A preview of the same on content on the screen is not an issue only show a font issue when you print the contents.
To see this failure in action you can test using this page:
    [applet demo|https://www.peernet.com/PEERNETReportsServer3/ademos.htm]
    On this page,:
    1) press the preview button to show the page to be printed
    2) press the 'Print...' button, print to any printer and you see the textual information is just printed as dashes (super tiny font).
Any suggestions on how to correct Java 7 printing from applets.
BTW: Works fine from a full Java application.

  • The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed

The font in Safari's bookmarks bar and tabs bar has suddenly changed to a lighter font.  How do I change the font back?  I'm not speaking of the font size/type in the web browser in viewing web pages, but the font in the application itself has changed. It's rather annoying and would like to be able to change it back!  I'm running Safari v5.1.7

    OK, Margie, here's what to do . . .
    First Quit Safari.
Then Find your User's (Home) folder library.
It's hidden, but here's how you find the Home Library:
Click on the desktop to get the Finder menu.  Then go up to  "Go" in the menu bar, while holding down the option key.
You'll now see the User Library in the drop down list. Open it, then look for the Fonts folder.
Take the fonts folder to the desktop.
    Restart Safari.
    Any better?
(Warning:  This is only for the Users/Home > Library > Fonts folder.  Under no circumstances, should this be done with the SYSTEM > Library > Fonts folder.)

  • Creative cloud  - Menu Bar and Palette's are tiny font.

I just downloaded creative cloud on my lenovo Yoga Pro 2.  The size of my Menu Bar and Palette's are tiny font.  However, Lightroom menu bar and palette's are in a normal size easy to read font.  Can anyone tell me how to change just Photoshop?

For now the solution seems to be using the Scale 200% setting in Edit>Preferences>Experimental Features.
There is also a setting in Edit>Preferences>Interface>UI Font Size that enlarges some of the fonts, although not the menu bar.
After changing either setting, you need to restart photoshop to see the changes.
