EBook Download problems on Adobe Digital Editions

Hi,
I have Adobe Reader 8.0 running on VISTA. When I try to buy an Adobe eBook from a online retail sotre and download. Number of windows of IE opened on my machine asking me to download Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). I followed the instructions and downloaded the Aobe Digital Editions.
And then again I tried to download the eBook, This again opened number of IE windows, saying Launch ADE. I couldn't find the eBook downloaded in my library of ADE. Can you please help in this.

Updated book download problem in Adobe Digital Editions

Problem:
I have downloaded a book in Adobe Digital Edition. it downloaded successfully. But after some days vendor emailed me to re-download the same book, becuase it has some invalid content. I tried to re-download the book, but it is showing old book. On the other hand i download the same book on another computer, i got new book. is it Adobe Digital Editions problem or something else?

You need to download the book, which will come as a .acsm file which is a pointer to the content rather than the content itself.
You then need to open the .acsm file with ADE; that will force download of a .epub file which contains the real data (encrypted if it is a DRM book).
You may well then find that you have two copies of the book on your computer and showing up in ADE, both the old and the new.
You can delete the old one if you are sure you don't need it.

Not seen that message before, but two standard suggestions that may help.
1) ~~~~~
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Downloading Adobe Ebook pdf files crashes Adobe Digital Editions

Hi!
Have tried from two sources buying and downloading Adobe e-books and each time when I download them, Adobe Digital Editions starts up and then it just crashes without finalizing the book. When I then reopen the ADE again the book title is there, but with no author name or any other info, and I can't open it or transfer it to my PRS-505. Has anyone else had this problem and/or know what could be wrong. I just downloaded and installed the new 1.5 version of ADE so it seems that likely is not the problem.

...well I guess it was something wrong with my computer that caused this, had problems with my firewall/virus program also and when I got that fixed then the book download worked as it should also.

Problems with Adobe digital editions

I tried to authorize Adobe digital edition in my new Tablet, but I received an error message, so I decided to authorize with another personal email account. Now, the problem is that I can not download those books I had bought previously. How can I reauthorize Adobe digital edition with my previous email? How can I avoid the error message I received when I tried to authorize with that email?

You must use your original Adobe account to real books bought and downloaded while using that account.
I'm a but confused by I tried to authorize Adobe digital edition in my new Tablet, ADE does not run on any tablet except a full Windows 8 tablet.
What id you try to authorize? (1) ADE running on a Windows 8 tablet, (2) an app running on a normal tablet, or (3) ADE itselft running on a computer.
In any case, you must deauthorize the new ID, and then reauthorize with your original ID.
On ADE, the deauthorization is ctrl-shift-D (cmd-shift-D on Mac). If you can't reauthorize with your original ID, post detailks and the message you get when trying.
For a tablet app, see help for that app for deauthorization/reauthorization.

Problems activating Adobe Digital Editions

I downloaded the Adobe Digital Editions and when I go into the set up to activate it, I keep getting an "E Adept Request Expired" message. I know my password and account ID are fine so what is the problem?

wollte es im ADE lesen.
Leider komme ich über die erste Seite des Buches nicht
hinaus, da ich immer wieder eine Fehlermeldung bekomme:
Adobe Digital Editions hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss

First. If you are using Digital Editions from a mandatory roaming profile - we don't support that. You are quickly going to run out of activations, and then not be able to activate again.
If however you are using a tool to clean up, I would suggest tuning that tool so that it doesn't delete the ADE executable.

I Just bought a book in PDFs format with my iPad. The vendor site says I need to install Adobe digital edition, but I can't find a link to install adobe digital edition on an iPad air. Can anybody help ?

You might need to first deactivate Acrobat from the Help menu on your old machine.
Then, you can download Acrobat X Pro from the below mentioned link and activate the software (from Help menu) with the same serial key:
Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | DC, XI, X
Please note that you can activate and run Acrobat software on maximum two machines (say your desktop at work and laptop at home)
In order to use it on third machine, you need to first deactivate it from any of the old computers.

Problem running Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.2 on Win8

After installing it, when I try to run it, nothing happens, no error dialog, no window, nothing,,,

With more details: I found an answer to a similar question on the Forum from TTWTT (TTMTT), who posted a link to download versions 2 and 3 of Digital Editions at Adobe Digital Editions downloads (Adobe Digital Editions downloads). I had tried find these downloads on Adobe's far from helpful website with total lack of success. Version 3 seems to be working.
Whether Adobe is working is a totally different question.
So far it appears that Adobe Digital Editions 4.02 is a disaster, best avoided.

I'm not sure about the Kobo, but many ereaders show similar messages when connected. While they are connected you cannot do anything on the reader directly, you can only do things via the PC. (Most cameras seem to work that way as well.) So probably the Kobo is working correctly.
What should happen is that while that message is showing on the Kobo, the Kobo shows up in Library view on ADE.
Should be ok with v1.7.2 or v2.0; but v2.0 has lots of bugs that can stop it installing properly or working properly if you do once get it installed.
When the Kobo is plugged in and showing that message:
Does it show up as a device on your ADE 1.7.2?
Does it show up as a device on Windows Explorer?

Trying to download script w/Adobe Digital Editions,Adobe Reader keeps blocking it.

I am trying to download a script with the use of Adobe Digital Editions, but Adobe Reader keeps popping up and prevents the downloading. How can I prevent this?

If you are trying to open an xml based pdf file, then it is not supported on the present version of Reader for iOS.

Problem with Adobe digital Edition

Since yesterday my Adobe digital edition show all text in squares. The roblem appeared after dowloading an e-pub document from Wikipedia. I tryed to uninstall and re-install again the software, both version 2 and 3 and nothing happened. Can anybody help me?
