EBS 11i used ports on Unix Server.
Hi,
Our network/Security team is asking for all ports which are used by Oracle E-Business suite 11i.
Please let me know how to find out all EBS 11i ports used on our AIX Unix Server.
Thanks.

Install EBS 11i using Oracle Database 11g
Dear All,
I'm going to create development environment for EBS 11i using database 11g. As i know, the rapidwiz install pack using Oracle 9i as the default database.
Could I install EBS 11i using database 11g? Is there any documentation for this kind of installation? Or Do i have to Install EBS 11i using the default database then migrate it to Oracle database 11g?
Many Thanks
GumasI'm going to create development environment for EBS 11i using database 11g. As i know, the rapidwiz install pack using Oracle 9i as the default database. Correct.
Could I install EBS 11i using database 11g?No, you will need to install 9i which comes with 11i Rapid Install then upgrade the database to 11gR2
Is there any documentation for this kind of installation? If you mean install 11i using 11g then no such doc exists.
Or Do i have to Install EBS 11i using the default database then migrate it to Oracle database 11g?Correct.

Hi Friends,
I am cloning EBS 11i AIX 5L on the same server.
Currently we have EBS 11i PROD on the server, @user oracle.
I want to clone it to EBS 11i TEST on the same server, @user oracle2.
Things I did:
1. run autoconfig
2. run preclone programs
3. copy appl and db file to new location for user oracle2.
4. run cloning at user oracle2.
But I got the following error:

hi,i am crane
i have a problem to resolve and hope to get suggestion.
i need create a new reponsiblity and custom a new application in ebs 11i using oaf
The oaf guideline provide extension and personlization to ebs 11i ,but not provide information about custom a new application.
for example
i want to create a new responbility a kind of employee. and develop a report in oaf for them.what can i do ?
thank you for suggestion~~Hi,
command to check the processer details
cat /proc/cpuinfo (or)
grep flags /proc/cpuinfo
if the results contain lm (long mode) then it is 64 bit processor
"uname -a" should give details of OS
If the results contain
- x86_64 => 64-bit OS
- i386 and i686 => 32 bit OS
Since your result contain x86_64, it must be 64 bit OS

EBS 11i Disaster Recovery using tape backup on alternate Unix Server.
Hi,
I would really appreciate if you could please share with us what is the process to recovery EBS 11i environment to an alternate DR server using the latest tape backup in case any disaster happens to the existing production server.
I need to prepare and test disaster recovery plan document using the latest tape backups.
We have single node EBS 11i environment with Apps and DB installed on the same AIX Unix Server.
We also have full database RMAN backup every night.
The new alternate DR Unix server will have different hostname and IP address.
Thanks in advance.
Regards. Please refer to the following docs.

Using Terminal with a dial-up connection to a Unix server
Normally I use a cable modem at home to connect to a Unix server at work. All I have to do is fire up the Terminal application, type "telnet servername.domainname.com", and I am up and running.
A couple days ago my cable modem service died and it is going to take a week to get it fixed. Wanting to find a temporary alternative connection, I remembered that my PowerMac G5 came equipped with an Apple internal modem. I connected the modem to a phone line, went to the Network configuration panel in System Preferences, and configured the modem to dial-up the Unix server at work. Using the Internet Connect application, the modem can connect to the Unix server, but that application attempts to make a PPP connection, not a plain old-fashioned command-line Unix connection.
What I really want to do is use the Terminal application to dial-up the Unix server. Does anybody know how to do that?
PowerMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)You need to know more about how the server at the other end is configured.
Internet Connect will only manage an internet connection, typically via PPP. If the server at the other end is not configured as a PPP server then you're not going to get anywhere with it.
If the server is set to use the modem as a standard serial interface then you'll need a terminal emulator that can manage the serial ports (terminal.app is not such an app).
Fortunately there are many options, including the venerable ZTerm. This will let you use the modem to dial a number and log in over a simple serial line. -
Upgrade Linux Server for EBS 11i
Hi All,
EBS 11i
RHEL 4.6
Our EBS 11i is currently running on HP server with RHEL 4.6 OS and a single node only. This server was bought 6 years ago and lately it is showing performance degradation. We want to migrate/upgrade to a higher end latest model of HP and make it a multi-node. But the latest HP model only support a minimum RHEL 5 version.
My question is, is cloning EBS 11i from RHEL 4.6 to RHEL 5 supported? How do I migrate EBS 11i with this kind of scenario?
Thanks a lot
Sis IndayHi,
My question is, is cloning EBS 11i from RHEL 4.6 to RHEL 5 supported? How do I migrate EBS 11i with this kind of scenario? It is supported -- Use Rapid Clone (go through the docs referenced in this thread).

IDOC to File Port on Windows Server from Unix SAP System
Hi All:
I want to use an IDOC to create a text file on a Windows server. The SAP system runs on Unix. I have no problem creating the text file on the same Unix server running the SAP instance but I can not figure out how to write the file to a share or UNC path on a Windows server. I tried to create a logical file path using transaction FILE and then create a logical port in WE21. The IDOC failed because it is still looking on the Unix server to write the file. Any ideas from the community would be greatly appreciated.Hmmm, there are probably lots of ways to skin this cat.
To make the process asynchronous you probably want to be along the lines of either updating a table or placing a file on the Windows machine, and then having a database process or Windows program to watch for the file or database table entry and triggering your bat file when it appears. -
Runaway Processes in our EBS 11i Server
Hi hussein,
RHEL 4.6
EBS 11i
I am confused with was is happening to our EBS 11i server.
I usually clear everything by shutting down all apps and db tiers process.
then I check ps -ef| and I see that there is no more appsmgr and oramgr id running.
But after a while....there will start some appsmgr process but no oramgr process I do not know if someone has triggered this process in crontab? but I can not idenfy which process starting it. I can see <defunct> status in the "top"
monitoring and it is consuming cpu and memory resources. I just can not understand why this appsmgr process can run without a database?

EBS 11i how to check if JRE or JInitiator is used for Forms.
How can I find out in EBS 11i whether application has been configured to use JRE or JInitiator when using Oracle Forms on Client's Desktop?
Thanks,

Hi Hussein,
I have reviewed both the documents and both documents have mentioned how to find out details about JRE/JInitiator using the Java Console on Clients Windows PC.
Is there any way to check it on the server side?
Any configuration file on the server side which will give me this details?Yes. Search the application context file for:
s_sun_plugin_ver
s_sun_plugin_type
s_sun_clsid
s_jinit_ver_dot
s_jinit_ver_comma
s_jinit_clsid

Modifying form on unix server using Form Builder installed on Windows deskt
We are using Oracle Applications hosed on unix servers. There is a custom form in XXX_TOP/forms/US folder that I need to modify. My Windows desktop has Forms Builder 10g installed. I ftpied fmb file over from unix server to my Windows desktop and tried opening it. I get an error FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects: APPSTAND, etc etc. Obviously I am not doing it right. What is the correct way of modifying a form file sitting on unix server, using Forms Builder installed on Windows desktop? Do I need to copy all dependant objects to Windows desktop along with fmb file? Thank you in advance.
You will also need all of the .plb and .fmb found in the AU_TOP/Resources, however, if you modify an Oracle provided Form you will loose all support from Oracle for that Form and anytime you apply an upgrade or patch, you will loose the changes if the upgrade/patch involves the modified form. There are only 2 approved ways to modify an Oracle supplied EBS form. First is by using the CUSTOM.PLL library and the second is by using Forms Personalization (FP). I strongly recommend you persue using the CUSTOM.pll or FP. If neither of these options will provide the functionality you need - CALL ORACLE SUPPORT before you modify any files.
