  • Store pdf from ArchiveLink (binary) down to Netweaver file system

    Hello!
    I have a problem: I need to extract a pdf-file which is stored in table TOA01 in binary format. The pdf should be generated and stored into a pdf-file in the file system of the Netweaver application server.
    The main problem: Whenever I extract the data from the table and write it down to a file, the data in the pdf-file is corrupted. I tried all kinds of convertation routines (OFT to Binary, OTF to XString, Binary to XString,...)
    Can anybody help me with my problem? I need a pdf from the ArchiveLink table as a file on the filesystem.
    Thank you for your help!
    Best regards,
    Markus

    Hello Otto!
    thanks for your help. I compared the input- und the output-data now and discovered, that the data is identically. The problem which causes my problem, lies in the writing of the data into the file by dataset.
    First, I extract my pdf binary data from database table with the following function module.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_AO_TABLE_GET'
            EXPORTING
              arc_id       = ls_toa01-archiv_id
              doc_id       = ls_toa01-arc_doc_id
              comp_id      = 'data'
            IMPORTING
              length       = filesize
            TABLES
              data         = lt_data
            EXCEPTIONS
              error_http   = 1
              error_archiv = 2
              error_kernel = 3
              error_config = 4
              OTHERS       = 5.
          IF sy-subrc <> 0.
            RAISE error_retrieving_file.
          ENDIF.
    The result of this operation is stored in lt_data and seems to be correct. I compared the filesize of a pdf which I downloaded from GUI and lt_data. The size is exactly the same amount of bytes.
    This is the coding part which doesn't work properliy is the following:
          OPEN DATASET lv_pdf FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE.
          IF sy-subrc = 0.
          LOOP AT lt_data INTO ls_data.
            transfer ls_data TO lv_pdf.
          ENDLOOP.
          ELSE.
            RAISE error_writing_file.
          ENDIF.
          CLOSE DATASET lv_pdf.
    When the data is written into the dataset, the resulting file is corrupted in a certain way. I compared the binary content of both files, the correct one and the file created with the dataset part and discovered, that the data is identically. Only some line breaks are different. The result of this little differences is a blank pdf file instead of the correct one with text. Seems like really every single bit position has to be identically to the working pdf. If there is one space in the file too much or one line break, the pdf is corrupted.
    Can anybody help me and describe how to create a pdf file out of an internal table?
    Best regards,
    Markus

  • Database shut down and file systems are still busy

    We have been copying our production DB over to a reporting DB for the last 3 years. The process we use on the reporting database is: shutdown the DB ABORT, restart it, then shutdown immediate. Then we umount the file systems and copy the production over using a Flex Clone on the NETAPP, remount the file systems and start the database back up. We used to shut down the listener which does not share the oracle binaries on the unix system but lately have left the listener up because other DB's use it. Every so often after shutting down the report database in prep for the copy, the file system that contains the binaries is busy and we can't unmount the ORACLE binaries.
    So my question is how does the listener know if the database is up or down? Is it reading something on the volumes we're trying to unmount to see if the database is up? We have users that schedule jobs in odd hours and was wondering if them hitting the listener and even though the database is down it's making the file systems busy?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Listener is NEVER involved with any ongoing packet exchange between client & the DB.
    Listener takes original connection request & if the DB is up passes the request to the DB.
    After this initial handoff, the listener has NO more involvement with packet exchange between DB & client

  • How are the c:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\File System\vol_ directories locked down?

    Hi,
    Even as an administrator on the DPM server, I cannot drill down into subdirectories of c:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\File System\vol_ . . For example: c:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\File System\vol_9fd89f55-92d7-469b-9196-c7d5e0d07943\2401168f-0a90-46ff-b719-9aa6bf817c5f\Full\.
    I get access is denied.  I think this is by design, that DPM is designed to only allow access to these files through the interface.
    Is that true?
    Would there be ANY way for someone to gain access to these files, either from the DPM server itself, or from <DPMServer>\c$?
    Thanks,
    Casie

    Hi,
    In most cases you can access them from an administrative command prompt.  If you still get access denied you perform the following:
    1)      Download psexec.exe from
    www.sysinternals.com
    2)      Run PSEXEC -s cmd.exe   (this will switch window to system context)
    3)      Afterwards - type WHOAMI it should return:
                      nt authority\system
    4)  Now CD to the replica volume under program files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\replica\...

  • XI system down due to file generation in file System

    Hi All,
    We are facing one issue in our XI Prod system.
    Messages will get sturck in inbound queue as system is frequently getting stoped due to insufficient space in the FileSystems .
    This is happening due to generation of files heapdump.phd and javacore.txt in the file system (/usr/sap/PXI/DVEBMGS03/j2ee/cluster/server0 ), which are very huge in size.
    After manually clearing up the space by deleting these files and restarting the system,the system will  come to normal functionality ,but again after some time we will get same issue .
    Plese suggest me how can I fix this problem?
    how can I stop  those file generation?
    Thanks and regards
    Uma

    Hi,
    you can overcome this problem by fallowing ways.
    1. you can increese interface time out time.
    2. Please check in table space in sap system.
    3. check the data time out for FTP system also.
    Thanks

  • Windows 8.1 File System Performance Down Compared to Windows 7

    I have a good workstation and a fast SSD array as my boot volume.
    Ever since installing Windows 8.1 I have found the file system performance to be somewhat slower than that of Windows 7.
    There's nothing wrong with my setup - in fact it runs as stably as it did under Windows 7 on the same hardware with a similar configuration.
    The NTFS file system simply isn't quite as responsive on Windows 8.1.
    For example, under Windows 7 I could open Windows Explorer, navigate to the root folder of C:, select all the files and folders, then choose
    Properties.  The system would count up all the files in all the folders at a rate of about
    30,000 files per second
    the first time, then about 50,000 files per second the next time, when all the file system data was already cached in RAM.
    Windows 8.1 will enumerate roughly
    10,000 files per second the first time, and around
    18,000 files per second the second time -
    a roughly 1 to 3 slowdown.  The reduced speed once the data is cached in RAM implies that something in the operating system is the bottleneck.
    Not every operation is slower.  I've benchmarked raw disk I/O, and Windows 8.1 can sustain almost the same data rate, though the top speed is a little lower.  For example, Windows 7 vs. 8 comparisons using the ATTO speed benchmark:

    No worries, and thanks for your response.
    The problem can be characterized most quickly by the slowdown in enumerating files in folders.  Unfortunately, besides some benchmarks that show only an incremental degradation in file read/write performance, I don't have any good before/after
    measurements of other actual file operations.
    Since posting the above I have verified:
    My system has 8dot3 support disbled (same as my Windows 7 setup did).
    Core Parking is disabled; CPU benchmarks are roughly equivalent to what they were.
    File system caching is configured the same.

    Hi all,
    When you run a BI Publisher report with a concurrent program, is the output PDF stored somewhere on the file system? (Where..) Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the replies! I had found the out-file (xml file) previously. I wasn't aware that there was a separate table for the final outputs, though it is quite essential knowledge. Also, it is good to know the pdf also resides on the file system. Thanks again, to both of you.

    The following datafile has ben considered having a too high average read time per block.
    File name -Blocks read  -  Avg. read time (ms)  -Total read time per datafile (ms)
    /oracle/PMA/sapdata5/sr3700_10/sr3700.data10          67534                         23                               1553282
    I'm surprised that an average read time of 23ms is considered a high value. What are exactly those "standard requirements" ?

    We have been asked  to increase the size of the online redo logs which are already quite large (54Mb).
    Actually we have BW loading that generates "Chekpoint not comlete" message every night.
    I've read in sap note 79341 that :
    "The disadvantage of big redo log files is the lower checkpoint frequency and the longer time Oracle needs for an instance recovery."
    Frankly, I have problems undertanding this sentence.
    Frequent checkpoints means more redo log file switches, means more archive redo log files generated. right ?
    But how is it that frequent chekpoints should decrease the time necessary for recovery ?
    Thank you.
    Any useful help would be appreciated.

    Hello
    >> I'm surprised that an average read time of 23ms is considered a high value. What are exactly those "standard requirements" ?
    The recommended ("standard") values are published at the end of sapnote #322896.
    23 ms seems really a little bit high to me - for example we have round about 4 to 6 ms on our productive system (with SAN storage).
    >> Frequent checkpoints means more redo log file switches, means more archive redo log files generated. right?
    Correct.
    >> But how is it that frequent chekpoints should decrease the time necessary for recovery ?
    A checkpoint is occured on every logswitch (of the online redologfiles). On a checkpoint event the following 3 things are happening in an oracle database:
    Every dirty block in the buffer cache is written down to the datafiles
    The latest SCN is written (updated) into the datafile header
    The latest SCN is also written to the controlfiles
    If your redologfiles are larger ... checkpoints are not happening so often and in this case the dirty buffers are not written down to the datafiles (in the case of no free space in the buffer cache is needed). So if your instance crashes you need to apply more redologs to the datafiles to be in a consistent state (roll forward). If you have smaller redologfiles more log switches are occured and so the SCNs in the data file headers (and the corresponding data) are closer to the newest SCN -> ergo the recovery is faster.
    But this concept does not really fit the reality because of oracle implements some algorithm to reduce the workload for the DBWR in the case of a checkpoint.
    There are also several parameters (depends on the oracle version) which control that a required recovery time is kept. (for example FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET)
    Regards
    Stefan

    Hello,
    In Disk Utility, try Repair Disk first, you need another boot drive or the Install Disc if this is trying on your Boot Drive.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • How do I use a NAS file system attached to my router to store iTunes purchases?

    We have four Windows devices networked in our house.  They all run iTunes with the same Apple ID so when any one of them has iTunes running, we can see that computer on our Apple TV.  Two run Windows XP, one runs Vista Business, and the newest runs Windows 7.  Upgrading all to the same Windows software is out of the question.  Our NAS is hung on an "off warranty" Linksys E3000 router which communicates via USB with a 1TB NTFS formatted Western Digital hard drive.  Our plan when we set up this little network, not cheaply, in our 1939 baloon construction tank of a house, was to build our library of digital images, music, and video primarily on that device.  It supports a variant of Windows streaming support, but poorly.  The best streaming support for our environment seems to be our ethernet connected Apple TV which is hung off the big TV in our family room, and has access to the surround sound "Home Theater" in that room.  We've incrementally built up collections of photos, digitized music, and most recently educational materialsd, podcasts, etc. which threaten storage limits on a couple of default C: drives on these windows systems.  iTunes, before the latest upgrades, gave us some feedback on the file system connections it established without going to the properties of the individual files, but the latest one has yet to be figured out.  MP3's and photos behave fairly well, including the recently available connection between Adobe software and iTunes which magically appeared, allowing JPEG files indexed by Adobe Photoshop Elements running on the two fastest computers to show up under control on the Apple TV attached 56' Samsung screen!
    Problems arose when we started trying to set things up so that purchases downloaded from the iTunes store ended up directly on the NAS, and when things downloaded to a specific iTunes library on one of the Windows boxes caused storage "issues" on that box.  A bigger problem looming in the immediate future is the "housecleaning" effort which is part of my set of "new years resolutions."  How do I get control of all of my collections and merge them on the NAS without duplicate files, or when, for example, we have .ACC and .MP3 versions, only the required "best" option for the specific piece of music becomes a candidate for streaming?
    I envission this consolidation effort as a "once in a lifetime" effort.  I'm 70, my wife is 68 and not as "technical" as I am, so documented procedures will be required.
    I plan to keep this thread updated with progress and questions as this project proceeds.  Links to "how to" experiences which are well documented, etc. may be appreciated by those who follow it.  I plan to post progress reports and detailed issues going forward.   Please help?

    Step 1 - by trial and error...
    So far, I have been able to create physical files containing MP3 and JPG on the NAS using the Windows XP systems to copy from shared locations on the Vista and Win7 boxes.  This process has been aided by the use of a 600 GB SATA 2 capable hard drive enclosure.  I first attach to Win 7 or Win Vista and reboot to see the local drive spaces formatted on the portable device.  Then I copy files from the user's private directories to the public drive space.  When the portable drive is wired to an XP box, I can use Windows to move the files from the portable device to the NAS without any of the more advanced file attributes being copied to the NAS.  Once the files are on the NAS, I can add the new folder(s) to iTunes on any of the computers and voila, the data becomes sharable via iTunes.  So far, this works for anything that I have completely purchased, or for MP3's I made from the AIC files created when I purchased alblums via iTunes.
    I have three huge boxes full of vynl records I've accumulated.  The ones that I've successfully digitized via a turntable attached to the sound card on one of my computers and third party software, have found their way to the NAS after being imported into iTunes and using it to bring down available album art work.  In general I've been reasonably well pleased with the sound quality of digital MP3 files created this way, but the software I've been using sometimes has serious problems automatically separating individual songs from the album tracks and re-converting "one at a time" isn't very efficient.
