EBS 12 and Java 8.40, 32 Bit and 64 Bit

Has anyone had success using both EBS and Discoverer with Java 8.40?
If so, what settings did you use?
Any help is appreciated.
Wayne

Hi,
You can't upgrade a 32-bit to 64-bit version, this always requires a full re-installation. There are ways to download the correct media from the microsoft website.
See this page for example: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only
Good luck!

  • Coldfusion 9.0.1 and Java 7 on 64 bit machine

I have found that I am unable to get Coldfusion 9.0.1 to work with Java 7 (1.7.0_x) on 64 bit windows 2008.  I tried both Java 1.7.0_0 and 1.7.0_2.  When I point Coldfusion to it and try to start the only thing that is logged is it can't load the jvm.dll.  It is pointing to the correct location with the JDK installed.  Any one have any ideas?
    Thanks,

Well, getting a current version of CF to support a new major release of Java is quite a bit of work! I suspect that CF 10 will support Java 7. In any case, I don't think there's anything especially exciting about Java 7 unless you're actually doing Java programming, in which case you can put the Java 7 JDK on your machine alongside all the other Java JDKs.
Oh, and also, things are a lot better than they used to be. For many years, CF required a very old version of Java (1.4) that was no longer even really supported by Sun! CF has gotten a lot better with regard to Java version support in the last few years.

When I work in Fireworks, for some functions, I get the message "JRE 1.4.2 is not installed." I checked the Java Preferences and it shows "Java SE 6, 32-bit is installed" Does anybody knows what the porblem is or how I can install JRE? Thanks!

Disable the Skype extension for Firefox - both versions if you really have two versions installed.

  • Mapping Roles/Groups between Oracle EBS R12 and OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
We are implementing OBIEE 11g with Oracle EBS R12 as source system. Also we are using Out of the box RPD for Oracle EBS R12.
But we are facing lot of challenges to map OBIEE 11g groups and EBS roles and responsibilities. We do not have prior experience with EBS as source system.
Can anyone tell how to map between obiee groups with Oracle E-Business suit R12
Is there any document link or notes regarding this.
Any information regarding this will be a great help.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I am also looking for the solution to implement SSO of OBI 11g with EBS r12, what i understand from your post that you have configured SSO between OAM and EBS R12.
Below is the link to configure SSO between EBSR12 and OBI 11g.

Whats the use of OAM in this integartion ?

  • EBS data and meta data retrieval

    Hi,
I am into java and my requirement is to retrieve data and meta data of the underlying EBS implementation and make it available to the EBS end users for some kind of processing which is outside EBS.With my limited knowledge of EBS,what I understand is that there is a logical view and a physical view of the data.My queries are as below:-
    1. Is there a way to get the relationship between physical and logical view?
    2. How to get the meta data of the underlying table structures?
    3. Should JDBC drivers be sufficient to retrieve the data or is there any other more efficient means of retrieval.
Any help on the same is appreciated as I am new into this area and any help is welcome.
    Thanks
    MNG

    2. How to get the meta data of the underlying table structures?See Oracle eTRM website.

  • 32-bit JVM receiving Java objects from 64-bit JVM

    Hi folks,
Question is: will there be problems for 32-bit JVM receiving Java objects from 64-bit JVM? and vice versa.
Our application client is running on 32-bit JVM, our server is running on 64-bit JVM. Client will send Java objects to server, and vice versa.
My past experience suggested when sending Java objects between client and server, both client and server needs to be compiled under the same JVM version. Any advice?
    Christy

My past experience suggested when sending Java
objects between client and server, both client and
server needs to be compiled under the same JVM
version. Any advice? This is only a case if you omit explicit serialVersionUID. My advice is to ALWAYS specify it for classes you want to serialize over the wire or put into persistent storage. It is way too tricky to rely on default one to fail half a year later when some new programmer adds one new public method to a class.
Unless you need to deserialize already existing resources, there is no need to put any magic number in serialVersionUID - just put 1 for every class you create and possibly increase it by 1 every time you want to make incompatible version (which is not happening so often, as in real world you often try to stay as compatible as possible)

  • Error: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: JVM cannot use large page

    Hi,
i recently came across Error Message (coming up in webadmin Log view):
ProcessMonitor: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: JVM cannot use large page memory because it does not have enough privilege to lock pages in memory
when running Oracle NoSQL on Windows 7 64bit Home Premium system, having 8GB of physical RAM.
I created the store configuration without explicitly passing a value for parameter memory_mb (was set to -memory_mb 0), so that replication group would take as much
memory as possible, which found it's reflection in following line from store log:
    Creating rg1-rn1 on sn1 haPort=tangel-lapp:5.011 helpers=tangel-lapp:5011 mountpoint=null heapMB=7.007 cacheSize=5.143.454.023 -XX:ParallelGCThreads=4
I was a bit surprised because of the fact that i definetly succeeded in running kvstore in this configuration, leading to store using 7007MB of memory.
It was only possible to run kvstore when creating store configuration with memory configured to be less than 2GB.
After searching google with error message mentioned above i came across some hints regarding activation of Huge Pages on Windows 7, which mentioned that it could be
done on systems having at least Windows 7 Professional Edition.
But finally i found a more helpful hint, referring to size of windows pagefile. As my machine uses an SSD as system disk and there some notes on deactivating pagefile when
using an SSD, i did so some time ago.
So i activated the pagefile on windows again and after doing so, the store came up without any problems.
Maybe it's nothing new to some of you guys, but as there was nothing to be read about this fact in neither admin nor getting started guide, i just wanted to share this
    piece of information with you.
    Regards
    Thomas

    Charles,
thanks for clarification, obviously i've overseen that in chapter "Installation prerequisites" of
    Admin Guide.
By the way, are there any specific OS related settings, let's say "best practice" similar as it is
referred to in documentation of "classic" Oracle Databases?

  • How to recreate EBS user and keep all his historical data.

    Hi all
We have a user that is having an issue seeing any of his scheduled Discoverer reports within the Schedule Manager window of Discoverer Plus; Discoverer Desktop works fine.
The solution for it's to recreate the EBS user. The problem with this is that, if we recreate the EBS user, he will lose all historical data connected to that user, including the results of the scheduled Discoverer reports as well as all of the EBS created/last updated information.
There is a way to recreate an EBS user and preserve the historical references.

The problem with this is that, if we recreate the EBS user, he will lose all historical data connected to that user, including the results of the scheduled Discoverer reports as well as all of the EBS created/last updated information. Why do you need to recreate the user?
Are you saying you are going to create a new username for the same user and end-date the old one?
There is a way to recreate an EBS user and preserve the historical references.I believe there is no such a way to find all records/tables with the old user_id. Even if you find the list and update them manually, I believe this approach is not supported.

Can someone give me comparison of EBS HR and Fusion HCM organization structure? For example, in EBS HR we have business group. What is the comparable object in Fusion HCM? Have you looked at the documentation and see if it helps?

  • Pre-requisite checker script for EBS R12 and R12.1

    hi
is it possible to make a pre-requisite checker script (in perl or shell) for EBS R12 and R12.1 in RHEL5 or sun OS??
can anyone help / guide me to do so??
    rgrds

I don't know about EBS R12, but apparently the Oracle Universal Installer can use options to just run the prerequisite checks without having to install the product.
    E.g. /runInstaller -prereqChecker or -executeSysPrereqs

  • While trying to integrate EBS 11i and APEX getting error

Followed white paper document of Rod West to integrate EBS 11i and APEX.
While trying to integrate EBS 11i and APEX getting below error.
"This function type can't be launched from forms without first logging into the E-Business Suite homepage".
Looks like i am missing out something. Please help!

    Hi Rod,
Thanks for the reply. Please find the details below:
Created a function "Integrate APEX" .
    -Properties/Type – SSWA plsql function.
    - Web HTML/HTML Call – security_pkg.apex_launch
-Form/Parameters – Left blank because created apex_launch procedure without parameters
    Attaching to the menu:
Logged in as System Admin -->Menus-->Queried menu (SUPPORT_GUI) and added the function (Integrate APEX) to this menu..
    security.apex_launch procedure:
    ============================================
    PROCEDURE apex_launch
    AS
    BEGIN
       OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/html', FALSE);
       OWA_UTIL.redirect_url (
    http://servername:port/apex/f?p=appid:page::APPS:::'
    END apex_launch;
    =================================================
Also I have web enabled this package procedure (security.apex_launch).
When i click on "Integrate APEX" below error pops up.
"This function type can't be launched from forms without first logging into the E-Business Suite homepage".
Control is not going to security.apex_launch procedure at all. This i confirmed by putting log messages.
Let me know if something to be modified.
    Thanks!

  • Weird order of EBS login and OAM

    Hi
I have almost finished the stages of cloning of our DEV instance, but I am confused as to the order of the login screens.
When I go to the https://hostname:443 page, I see the two links - one for E Business Home Page and the other for OAM.
If I select E Business HomePage I get the Page Cannot Be Displayed error and in the browser I see
http://hostname8004/oa_servlets/AppsLogin (old port number before SSL change)
If I select OAM, it takes me to the Oracle E Business Suite Login page.
I login, and then I am taken to Applications Manger Dashboard
I have to then click on HOME on this screen, which then takes me to the "Welcome System Administrator" page, from where I can select "System Administrator", which then loads the Forms and the Navigator SYstem Administrator page.
All this seems to be in the wrong order.
I want to be able to login in the EBS login page, and be taken directly to the navigation page - instead of the Dashboard.
In the other instance, we have the "Welcome User" screen appear as
    http://host:8002/pls/TEST/OracleMyPage.home
    immediately after the login
I want this to happen in my DEV instance - instead of it going to the Dashbaord screen

Hussein I made changes to the context file as recommended by the Doc 123718.1 (Step 3.1.3 Configuring HTTP Server with SSL).
There are remaining configurations that are using 8004 in the context file. I will paste them here:
    <discoinstancename oa_var="s_discoinstance">****cl.****.com_8004</discoinstancename>
    <externURL oa_var="s_external_url">http://****cl.****.com:8004</externURL>

    <login_page oa_var="s_login_page">http://****cl.****.com:8004/oa_servlets/AppsLogin</login_page>
    <port oa_var="s_webcache_http_port" oa_type="PORT">8004</port>
    <port oa_var="s_webcache_https_port" oa_type="PORT">8004</port>
    <FORMS60_MAPPING oa_var="s_f60map">http://****cl.****.com:8004/OA_TEMP</FORMS60_MAPPING>
    <chronosURL oa_var="s_chronosURL">http://****cl.****.com:8004/oracle_smp_chronos/oracle_smp_chronos_sdk.gif</chronosURL>
    I just changed the
    <login_page oa_var="s_login_page">http://****cl.****.com:8004/oa_servlets/AppsLogin</login_page>
to reflect https and 443 ports. Ran autoconfig again, bounced the services. Now when I select the EBS login link from Oracle Applications Rapid Install Portal I am taken to the EBS login and not directly to the OAM.
So, this issue is solved. But I am still wondering which parameters should still have the old Port number of 8004 ?
I have logged an SR with ML for this.
