  • Financial reporting and balance carry forward at Line item level

    Hello
We are in the process of implementing a new GL and using it to create Balance Sheet and P&L statements in BW.
We have installed the new datasource for GL line items 0FI_GL_14 and loaded the data to a DSO. Installed the 0FI_GL_10 (totals infosource) as well.
Also we created a custom infocube on the line items DSO and want to use it to report against a Financial Statement Version. In order to do that we created a
virtual cube with the FM and added the necessary Financial Statement Item and other key figures in the virtual infocube.
Now I want to know is it the correct way to create financial reports?
Can we load totals and Line items to the same infocube? Do we have to load totals to a different DSO/Cube or same Cube?
How do we address the Balance Carry Forward on the Line items cube? Since the balance carry forward is done on totals only, and the cube I created is a detailed cube is it possible to carry forward balances at that level?
Also can someone let me know what is the best approach to create financial reports and give drill down capability at the document level?
    Thanks in Advance
    Raju Kosuru

Now I want to know is it the correct way to create financial reports?
    NO .. Its not.
Can we load totals and Line items to the same infocube?
    NO
Do we have to load totals to a different DSO/Cube or same Cube?
Yes.. SAP has delivered C10 for Totals and O14 for line items... No point in creating cube for line items i.e. on top of O14.
Balance carry forward can be done on  totals only (that is how totals extractor _10 is designed), U can not do that on the Line items. Pls contact functional consultant for clarification
Best approach is RRI (Jump targets) for _10 report to _14 report to give drill down capability at the document level.

  • Tables for marketing attributes and relationship

    Hi anyone!
I'm creating InfoSets in CRM and I need the tables containing marketing attributes and relationship for BPs. Does anyone of you know which tables this data is stored in???
    Regards Camilla

    Hi Camilla,
Another option to reading tables : you can use function module CRM_MKTBP_READ_BP_LIST giving the BP guid in table IT_BP_LIST. This will give you the attribute set along with the attributes and their values assigned to the BP.
    Example call:
    Test for function group      CRM_MKTBP_DB
    Function module              CRM_MKTBP_READ_BP_LIST
      Import parameters               Value
      IV_LANGU                        EN
    Tables                          Value
      IT_BP_LIST                         1 Entry
                       Result:           1 Entry
      ET_BP_ALLOCLIST                    1 Entry
                       Result:           2 Entries
      ET_RETURN                          0 Entries
                       Result:           0 Entries

  • Copy financial data and documents into a new version

    Hello,
Does anybody know whether is possible to copy from one version into a new one all financial data

There is a copy task where it is possible to copy financial data and documents, but the system only takes into consideration indivual values, not consolidated values.

  • Data model - is tables and relationships between them are graph or tree

    Hello
I want to ask if tables in database are nodes of graph what should this graph looks like - like real graph (with
    cycles) or tree ?
Let the tables are nodes of graph and the relationships between the tables are edges in the graph.

You can put the \ tag before and after text to preserve white space.  That likely makes things easier to read if you're trying to post ASCII graphs.
I wouldn't hesitate to use the proper set of tables and relationships for the entities I was trying to model.  Would I be concerned if my data model were full of loops?  Sure, that might cause me to double-check that I hadn't done something silly.  Would I be concerned if my data model had a loop if that was the best way to model something?  Not at all.
There is no theoretical answer because the quality of a data model has nothing to do with whether it is more tree-like or more graph-like.

  • Some basic questions about foriegn key , and relationships.

    Hi
Thank you for reading my post
I read some documents about foreugn key and tables relation ships.
but i still can not understnad some stuff.
1-when we have a foreign key , we have two tables that we want to relate them together
in a way that one of ? table columns forced to be a value from ?? table column.
what is name of those two tables , i saw , child-parent , ..... which confuse me.
can some one please tell me correct name of those two tables ?
2-some times we need some kind of master details relation like :
one-to-many : i this case MANY table will have a column to point a record in ONE table , can this relation be a foreign key relation ?
3-we can achieve many-to-many relation only by using a helper table to host both tables primary keys in a record to relate them together.
can you point me to some resources that help me to find answers to this questions ?
or explain them to me ?
    thank you for your time.

These are critical database basics that you need to understand. I would seriously recommend getting some study in, because proper relational database design relies on the basic principle of data and relationships and a process called normalization.
In reality, you only really need one gigantic table to host data. It would include everything you would want to know about something - let's take a sales order for example. You would have to record the customer's name, address, etc. along with every item they ordered, etc. You would have a HUGE table full of data that appeared over and over and over again. This is bad design for two basic reasons: it is difficult to query, and it is very easy to have minor mistakes like capitalization or alternate spellings that prevent things from matching up properly. For example, let's say Bob orders 40 widgets and 40 digits. In our hypothetical table, we could put it in as Bob - 40 widgets and Robert - 40 digits. See how confusing this can get even in a simple example? And let's say you wanted to correct all of Robert's orders to say Bob and you found out there were 40 orders from "Robert" How would you know which ones to change?
The process of normalization helps to reduce the chance for these types of errors in addition to creating a good basis for indexes. You normalize the data by creating sets of parent/child tables with a "key" value to match them. In our hypothetical situation, you could create a table for orders and a table for customers. In the customers table you give all the detail for the customer in one place, and you assign each customer a unique number or ID. In the orders table we add the customer ID (NOT the name) and we ensure that we are getting the customer we want, in addition to saving a lot of space and eliminating redundancy. In our example, the customers table is the "parent" table and the orders table is the "child" table. The child table references the unique entries in the parent table via that id. That reference is referred to as a foreign key. The foreign key in the child table points back to the original and complete record in the parent table and eliminates the redundancy of keeping all that extra data for every order. Foreign keys in child tables always refer to a primary/unique key in the parent field.
    That help?

  • Depicting tables and relationships

Hi all. I need a tool that can display the tables and relationships between the tables of an Oracle Database in a specific way. Let me explain.
    Prehistory
We have an Oracle Database :-). It has a lot of tables, many foreign keys etc. The relationships between the tables are quite intricate.
    Purpose
The purpose of this is to create a "scheme" of the data (the tables and relationships we have) which is simple to understand. We are going to use this scheme to help new employees understand the data structure. I tried to create such a scheme with the help of Oracle Designer but I found Server Model diagrams and ERD diagrams not satisfactory.
    Data scheme description
I want the scheme to display tables like in a server model diagram. But there is one major problem I encountered with server model diagrams. The server model diagram shows everything: column names, column data types, relationships. But there is one thing it does not show (or I couldn't find how to make it show it). I want the diagram to show comments for columns together with the column names (for example in square brackets after the column name). It is obvious that the column name usually does not tell much about what the column contans. It is only comments or descriptions that usually contain a lot of information about the column's contents. And I want comments to be shown on the diagram because I think this will be the simplest way for the new employee to get used to the data structure, understand it and get involved with real projects faster. I.e. make the new employee's "learning curve" much shorter :-). And I want descriptions (comments are short, they can be shown on the table, descriptions are long, they cannot be shown) to be easy to access on the diagram. For example "Right click -> description menu item". Actually the tool I'm looking for should be able to customize the view of the diagram, show and hide some elements (for example show comments, hide types etc). View customization capabilities are what I'm looking for. I think Oracle Designer lacks these capabilities.
    Server model diagram disadvantages
The server model allows to add comments for columns but it cannot display them(comments) on the diagram. Comments are really difficult to access in the server model diagram. One can access only one comment for the column at a time.
    ERD diagram disadvantages
I checked out ERD diagram as well. It is a little better at accessing comments. The properties of the table(tab "Attributes") shows column names and comments in one table. It is much more convenient for the new employee. But in the retrofit process (creating ERD diagrams from existing database tables) Oracle Designer deletes all "ID" fields. It places relationship links on the diagram instead of these attributes. In this case I'll have to create these fields manually in order to "reproduce" the exact structure of the database. It is very tedious when we have a hundred tables.
    Question
Is there a tool that can create the diagram I want from existing tables (not from the scratch)? Or the server model diagram is my best bet? One more thing. I don't need a tool that can only draw diagrams even in the way I want. I need a tool that can create a diagram from existing tables and after this allow me to customize the view of the diagram, add comments, descriptions, show and hide comments, data types for columns etc. Perhaps there is a way to achieve this goal by means of Oracle Designer?
    Additional Info
    Database - Oracle 8i
Oracle Designer - Oracle Designer 9i.
    Thank you in advance.

Alexandre, could you please provide more details on how you work with PowerAMC? Does this tool has powerful capabilities in reverse engineering? And does it allow the user to customize the view of the diagram as I described? I found only some documents in French regarding PowerAMC but on the Sybase site I found that PowerAMC was "also sold as PowerDesigner". I found this link
    http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1040802.
Do you have any documents that describe the reverse engineering capabilities of PowerAMC or manuals? (documents in English of course). It would be very kind of you if you found such documents.
Unfortunately I couldn't find enough info on the official site.

  • Time Constraints for objects and relationships

    Hi,
How to set up time constraints for objects and relationships under Org Management?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you need time constraint for subtype A002 then you have to define it over here.
Usually for all standard objects this table gets populated by SAP. But in case you want something which is not there in this table and is as per the client requirement, you can create.

  • I read that Lion will not support my Quicken and/or Appleworks.  How am I going to use my financial data and my documents?

I have read that Lion will not support Quick and/or Appleworks.  How am I to continue to use my financial data and documents?

I posted this answer to the same question about AppleWorks in the AppleWorks community two days ago.
I use iWork. The iWork applications - Keynote, Pages & Numbers - can only open AppleWorks 6 presentation, word processing & spreadsheet documents, respectively. They will not open any other type of AppleWorks 6 files or any AppleWorks 5 or any version of ClarisWorks files.
The third-party application, EazyDraw, can open AppleWorks draw documents. If you still have access to AppleWorks you can copy the contents of draw documents, paste them into an AppleWorks word processing document in object mode (click the arrow in the tool panel), save the WP document & then open it in Pages. You can copy & paste from AppleWorks to Pages but you would have to do it object by object or it will be one big uneditable object. Check Yvan Koenig's iDisk for many AppleScripts he has written to make conversion easier. Most are made to do batch conversions.
There is nothing other than AppleWorks that can open paint or database documents. Database data can be copied & pasted into an AppleWorks spreadsheet, saved & opened in Numbers or saved as ASCII/plain text & opened in most any spreadsheet, database or word processing program. Paint documents can be saved as one of many different formats to be opened in most image editing programs. I recommend using PICT or PNG for best results.
For a replacement for Quicken, I've narrowed my choices down to SEE Finance, Moneydance or Jumsoft's Money. I need to work with them more before I make my final decision. Mac | Life suggests SEE Finance as the best option.

    Hi,
Due to resource crunch, I would like to do new installation of EBS 12.1 and Database on the same server where already EBS 12.1 and Database installed.
I have one server where EBS 12.1 and Database installed (Single node installation).
Now I want to create another environment for other purpose (another test env.). But I don't have another server .
So Can I start new installation of EBS 12.1 and database on the same server ?
I have enough space and memory on server.
Are the installtion conflict with each other ? any implications happen on the first environment ?
I want my first environment run fine without any prob., after installing EBS and DB on the same server.

I have enough space and memory on server.Yes you can as long as you have sufficient resources.
Are the installtion conflict with each other ? any implications happen on the first environment ? If you install in different ORACLE_HOMEs you should be OK.

  • What is Datamodeling and how it is linked to BAPI?

    Hi,
What is Datamodeling and how it is linked to BAPI?
    Immediate reply is highly appriciable?
    Regards,
    Chow.

Datamodelling is much like all other modelling.
First you create a drawing of the original object. Then you buy some plywood or other suitable material for your model and cut this according to your drawings and scale. If you are rich and have the time you can create a 3D-model of your object and get laser-cut plastic or metal parts for your model.
When you have all your parts it is time to paint them. If you are lucky there is a shop specialising in everything for modellers, so they will have different kinds of paint in a good variety of colours.
Finally you assemble everything, and - hey - there's your model. Now, that wasn't too difficult, was it?
The answer to your second question is that datamodelling fits BAPI like a glove fits a fish. At least that is usually the case, but it depends...

  • Oracle EBS Data Purging and Archival

    Hi,
I would like to know if there is any tool available in market for Oracle EBS data purging and Archival?
    Thanks,

yes, there are 3rd-party tool available which will apply a set of business rules (ie all data older than Nov.1, 2007) through the various Oracle modules implemented at a customer site.
They are 3rd-party tools; You can go to Oracle.com and look in partners validated integration solutions. At the moment there are 2 partners offering such integrated solution:
Solix EDMS Validated Integration with 12.1
    IBM Optim Data Growth Solution
the only other solution is to hire OCS for a customized developed solution
