EBS R12 Apps Tier certification & support on EXADATA V2

Hi All,
I know that 11gR2 ebs databases are certified/supported with Exadata v2.
But my question is;
Is EBS R12(12.1.3) APPS Tier (forms, report,concurrent etc..) certified/supportd with Exadata V2 -- OS = Linux ?
And also where can I find this certification/support information? --written

I just thought that because it s application tier, it doesnt do db io , so it could work like on a standard oel on local disks, no exadata specific system code, that's why no hardware dependency.

You could simply copy all the files (without running preclone), clean FND_NODES and bring the services up.

Autoconfig fail EBS R12 Apps-Node with EBS 11gR2 RAC

We were following metalink note 823587.1 and have successfully converted single-instance database of EBS R12 to 20node RAC. When we are trying to do steps of Section-3.8 of the note the autoconfig is running in error. See the below error message from the "adconfig.log" file:

Scan listenser with EBS R12.1.2

Hi All
I am planning to upgrade my DB to 11R2 with EBS R12.1.2 with RAC on linux platform .
I have doubt can i use Scan listener with R12.1.2 EBS.
I am referring doc Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Real Application Clusters with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 823587.1]
Kindly advice me, if i can not use then is there any other method.

Thanks for reply. The doc which i have mention in last post says that EBS R12.1.3 is supporting scan listener. but doc does not say about R12.1.2. do you have any idea that can i use this with EBS R12.1.2It is supported with 12.1.2 if you have the patches under "For Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1" section applied.

Now planning to move to windows 2008 R2(64 bit) machine as part of upgradation to 12.1.3

(1)Machine A Windows 2008 R2 Server(64 bit): Database tier: 11gR2(11.2.0.2) No RAC
(2)Machine B Windows 2003(32 bit): Apps tier: (Concurrent,Reports,Admin,Web,Forms)
OR it should be

Is this confugaration advisable? Any Performance wise degradation.
Planning to have BI Publisher and Discoverer .. Where to install these?
Process:
1) Staged Environment:
Machine A Windows 2008 R2(64 bit): Upgrade 10gR2 to base 11gR2 and then to 11.2.0.2 on any windows 32 bit machine. And migrating this DB to 64 bit Machine A.
Machine B Windows 2003/2008(32 bit): Freshly installing 12.1.1 apps tier (Concurrent,Reports,Admin,Web,Forms), Porting over any personalised Reports,Forms(few personilizations) and Interfaces. And then upgrading to RUP3(12.1.3). Opting for Fresh installation as there are no process customizations mainly.
Now my doubt is.. for 15 Concurrent user.. just having one Apps Tier is sufficient with 4 GB RAM(cannot be extended as it is windows standard 32 bit and max is 4 GB RAM), DB Tier with 8 GB RAM on windows 2008 R2(64 bit)?
Please suggest me any other approaches if any applicable for Windows. I am a Newbie in implementation.

Upgrade 11.5.10.2 to R12 on apps tier only

My Oracle EBS running on Split Tier architecture, 11.5.10.2 apps tier on sun server and 11.2.0.3 on Linux server. I am planning to upgrade R12. OATM is completed on the database server.
Which is the best way to upgrade. As of now my option is install R12 application Tier on sun server and do my customization.
OR upgrade option is the best

Please elaborate more on the upgrade options you are referring to.
I understand one option is to upgrade (lay down R12 software) on the existing 11i apps tier (Sun servers), what about the other option?

Query hangs when getting apps schema objecs(Ebs R12) objects from BO Designer

We are facing an issue on Production instance that the query given by BO support hangs when getting the objects from apps schema by login from BO designer.
We are able to get the objects from Ebs 11i instance with the same query. Below is the instances details for Ebs 11i and R12.
Ebs R12 Application Version     : 12.1.3
Ebs R12 DB Version                 : 11.2.0.3
Ebs 11i Appl Ver     : 11.5.9

Does Lexmark 4227 plus printer is supported for Oracle EBS R12.0.6?

Our sysadmin installed Lexmark 4227 plus printer on AIX 5.3.7, printing perfectly from AIX. But when i register printer in EBS R12.0.6, it is printing Garbage for text type report. Could not find driver definitions for Lexmark type printer. How to define? I am unable to resolve issue. Can anybody help me?

Use lp command on Unix/Linux, and on Windows use print command.
Windows:
print /D:\\<server_name>\<printer_name> <file_name>
Unix/Linux:
lp -d <printer_name> -n<copies> <file_name>Where file_name is the concurrent request output file.

I believe Oracle Apps does not come with seeded drivers/styles for Lexmark printers, so you may need to try with different predefined styles/drivers. Also, contact your vendor and see if they have any clients with this printer configured on Oracle Apps.

Changing Configuration off EBS App Tier Hosts

I have a couple of questions regarding re-configuring a TEST APPS system setup after a clone/backup/restore.
1) We have three nodes on our PRODUCTION file system. Node A - serves as the DB tier; Node B - is Application Server (Conc Processing, Admin and Web Server) and Node C - is Application Server (only used for PCP).
2) I have noticed that during times of heavy concurrent processing, Node C is never utilized and is almost always at 0-5% utilization. Node B, however at such times is always at 95-100% utilization.
3) So I want to make a change in the following manner on the cloned system (and then follow through with the same change on the PRODUCTION system)
4) I want to assign Node C as the web server only (point of entry into the Application)
5) I then want to assign Node B to Concurrent Processing/Admin/Apps Tier Server
6) Node A will remain as the DB Tier server.
After succesfully configuring this (if possible), I will then double up the web and CP/Admin/Apps Tier server using a F5 load balancer.
Is it possible (using the CONTEXT_FILE) to re-configure the nodes as stated about in 4 and 5?

So, you are saying you have the following:
Node A - is Database Server
Node B - is Application Server (CM, Admin and Web Server) -- Btw, the admin server does not exist in R12 so I assume it is CM/Web/Forms
Node C - is Application Server (only used for PCP)
And, you are planning to change the above to:
Node A - is Database Server
Node B - is Application Server (CM, Forms)
Node C - is Application Server (Web only)
In this case, editing the context file only is not sufficient and you will have to do the following:
- Change the context variables as per your new configuration as per (doc 415385.1, 406558.1, 464018.1)
- Complete the steps in (Concurrent Processing - How to move Concurrent Processing Server from one node to another node [ID 373611.1]) including cleaning the FND_NODES table and running AutoConfig
- Before you start the CM (as it will be on one node only) you will have to navigate to (System Administrator responsibility > Concurrent > Manager > Define) and delete all CMs that used to run on Node C and make sure all the CMs run on Node B only (check the primary node for each CM) -- You are moving from PCP to CM on single node
- Start the CM

How to prepare for the EBS R12 Supply Chain OCE Certification

Hello everybody,
I post this thread because I'm going to take the exams to get the certification as Oracle EBS R12 Supply Chain Certified Expert Consultant and I'd like to understand how to best prepare myself.
Is there anyone who has already got this certification and can indicate me the best material to prepare myself?
I've worked on Oracle EBS (R11) for more than nineteen months up to now, focusing on the purchasing area, but I don't think that that could be sufficient to pass the required exams...

EBS R12 jtffmctl.txt error while starting Apps services

My Apps log-in page shows:

The EBS R12 server suddenly switched off due to a power problem and then, after starting the DB and Apps services this is the error and Apps log-in page shows error as described in the beginning above.
Please help.

Backup in R12?apps tier?db tier?Ins_top? or all..

I am implementing Inventory/Purchasing module R12 and a 10gdba
I have a question, in R12, Do i only backup the Database files or the Oracle HOME too?
And do i Backup the apps tier? If yes then which folders , APPS_ST or TECH_ST ?
Do i backup the INS_TOP?
Plz advice me and a little bit details

You need to backup everything.
If you do not update the file system tier on regular basis, then daily backup is not required (except for the application log files, and concurrent request log/out files). For the database, a backup should be scheduled/done on daily basis.

Fortunately, I took the two financial beta exams on 13rd and 14th. The number of the questions in the beta exam is too much for a foreigner (I'm a Chinese), because we need some more time to read and undertand the questions. Anyway, I answered the most of the questions at the last second and have the confidence to pass at least one exam:-)
