EBS R12 Migration from Linux 32 bit OS to 64 bit

Hi all,
Curently we running EBS R12 in linux 32 bit server. We are planning to migrate the same to a Linux 64bit OS. Both Apps and DB are running in one Server.
Current version : in Server XXXX
EBS - 12.1.3
DB - 10.2.05
OS - RHEL AS 4.5 32 bit
New Version will be : in Server YYYY
EBS - 12.1.3
DB - 10.2.0.5
OS - RHEL 5.5 64 bit
Please guide me with a good and easy steps.
Thanks,
Asim

Hi;
1- Installl Redhat Enterprose Linux 5 64 bit ( need to confirm the 5.x version ) as the current DB 10.2.0.5 will not certified for RHEL6Correct only 11.2.0.3 db version is certified with RHEL6.
In oracle certification I can see the certified 64 bit RHEL OS for 10.2.0.5 is RHEL5 ("Oracle Database 10.2.0.5.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5"). Please let me know the last supported version in RHEL5 which I can go for. I could not find anything about it. I am thinking, I can go for RHEL 5.5 and in the same OS can I upgrade DB 10.2.0.5 to version 11.2.0.3 after the migration.?The latest version is 5.8 and you can download it from e-delivery.
PS:Please dont forget to change thread status to answered if it possible when u belive your thread has been answered, it pretend to lose time of other forums user while they are searching open question which is not answered, thanks for understanding

    1. in physical connections part can i use the same work schema
    2. Can i use same contexts created or do i need to create everything as new and then try?
    Thanks,
    Rp.
    Hi,
As you mentioned that you just upgraded the database, so the data is same and schema is same you can connect with the same work schema.
Yes, you can use the same contexts , but need to do Reverse Engineering for your new database.
And about data server, i think you also have no need to create new data server, if hostname, sid and port etc are same as these were with R11(consult with your DBAs regarding it)

  • Migrating from Linux Mail to Exchange 2013

Is there any official documents of the Best Practices of migrating Linux Mail (Exim) to Exchange 2013?
I appreciate any help that I can receive. Thanks in advance.
    My best regards.

    Hi,
Basic on my research, I’m afraid that there is no tool for this kind of migration, we may need to start from PST file.
We can use Microsoft Exchange PST Capture to search for PST files on computers in your organization and then import those files to mailboxes in your organization, for your reference:

  • My installation & Managing Oracle EBS R12.2 on Linux 6.6

Sales of the Apple Watch have failed to reach supplier 'break-even volume' of two million units per month, reports the WSJ.The news apparently comes from Taiwan's Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc., the company that is responsible for putting the watch's many chips and sensors into a small case, known as a system-in-package, or SiP.Bernstein Research analyst Mark Li says that on a conference call, an ASE subsidiary told investors that it didn't reach its "break-even volume" of two million units per month in the second quarter. To make matters worse, the ASE unit doesn't expect to reach that level during the third quarter either, which is typically a busy production period before the holiday sales season. It wouldn't commit to reaching it during the fourth quarter either...Read More

  • Migrating from Linux server to SL 10.6 server

Anybody know a way to get my users/groups from a linux server to SL 10.6 server? It would be a pain to re-do by hand, esp. passwords.

Just take the G4 along with you & decide what you want to migrate from it to the new MBP. As mentioned in Apple Retail Store - One to One, a primary feature of this service is transferring your files from your old computer to your new one for you.

  • Migration from linux intel 32bit to linux AMD_Opteron 64bit

    Hi,
I'm trying to duplicate an instance from a 10.2.0.2 intel 32 server to an opteron 64bit (10.2.0.3).
    Which are the options?
If I take an Rman Backup and I try the Restore I can't open the destination db.
If I issue a startup migrate and then I run the catupgrd.sql script I get the error
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION version_script
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-06544: PL/SQL: internal error, arguments: [56319], [], [], [], [], [], [],
    ORA-06553: PLS-801: internal error [56319]
If this depends from the platform migration, maybe the only option is to use export/import?
    Thanks.

Hi, the OS is RedHat3 on the source database and RedHat5 on the destination database.
I would have preferred to use the backup/restore but, since I have found several issues on the migration from 32bit to 64bit, I think I will use the export/import path to move data.

  • Migrating from Linux 9.2.0.3 to Solaris 10.2.

    Hello,
Which method is best when moving from Linux platform, db 9.2.0.3 to Solaris, db 10.2. I have tried in exp and imp but it will require shutting down production db for more than 8 hours. I am now thinking of replication. Is this a better method? How difficult is it to replicat from Linux, 9.2.0.3 to Solaris, 10g db? What are the gotchas going across platforms and from 9i to 10g. Thank you.

You need to downgrade in the sequence you performed the upgrade. So you need to go back to version 10.2.0.x and then to 9.2.0.x.
BTW, do you mean 10.2.0.1 here? There was no version like 10.2.0.0.

  • R12 Migration from Windows to Linux

    Hi all,
I am involved in migrating R12.1 with 11gR1 from windows 2003 to Linux 5U8. I referred the following documents,
Using Transportable Database to migrate EBusiness Suite R12 Using Oracle Database 10gR2 or 11g (Doc ID 734763.1)
Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle EBusiness Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 438086.1)
Kindly give your inputs on the following sections for better understanding.
    1. How much space is required to use Transportable Database - CONVERT DATABASE command, for example if my database size is 80GB
Is there any method to estimate space required for the conversion?
    2. a. Regarding new digital signature in Application Tier Platform Migration...
If we want a new digital signature in the target machine, what are the steps need to be followed?
    2. b. What is pairsfile, Otherthan migration, where it is used?
    Regards,
    Krish

    Hi Hussein,
in the middle tier migration, we have 2 steps mentioned in the note given above. I did not do this type of middle tier migration before,
please can you describe the below steps.
Generate and upload the manifest of customer-specific files what information it will extract from the system ?????
Download and apply the customer-specific update with AutoPatch what oracle people are going to do the the information provided above and what does that patch do????
copy the APPL_TOP and some directory of COMMON_TOP to target systemsince source system is on WINDOWS NTFS file system, and we are going to copy these files to Linux File system (ext3 or ext2 what ever it may be).
does it make any issues, since file systems are different????

  • How to transfer R12 files from Linux to window7

    Hi:
We have 12.1.3, 11.1.0.7 on linux. I was asked to send a file to a user. From other servers I use WinScp to transfer files. But I can not use WinScp because I dont have a password for the oracle user. When login to putty for this server I use a private key so no password is needed. I have this server ip address entered in the hosts file on my laptop so I was able to access to EBS. I will apprecaite you very much if you tell me how to complete this task.

What is the issue? Do you get any errors when copying the files?
You can simply use (ssh, sftp, scp, ..etc) -- http://bit.ly/195ErVM

  • Retain SAMBA permissions while migrating from linux to solaris 10 x86

    Hello,
We are migrating a system from Redhat to Solaris 10 x86 and this has brought up a question on how we can restore our SAMBA files and retain our permissions that are associated by the users name rather then their numeric ID(UID/GID). So far my research hasnt produced anything that gives a solid answer to how we do this and is it even possible.
The problem is that Windows user and group accounts are mapped locally per host by default. That mapping is defined as the accounts are referenced, so unless there is a way to guarantee the order of accounts being referenced, the mappings from Windows SIDs to Unix UIDs will be different between old and new.
If the data restoration option we choose for the new server is naive and restores only by UID and GID, the permissions in the ACLs will not map to the correct Windows accounts. We either must find a restoration option which restores permissions by name rather than ID or we must create a script which can automate pushing the ACLs into the restored filesystem correctly by name.
Initially I thought ufsdump could handle this but we are on ext3 filesystem going to vxfs. I have read a little on star but havent heard about it before. Has anyone used star for backup/restore for the purpose of retaining ACL ownership/permissions? It seems like its an old utility, maybe not used much anymore. Does anyone have a utility they have used for this purpose?
    Your help is much appreciated!!
    LR

The problem is that Windows user and group accounts are mapped locally per host by default. That mapping is defined as the accounts are referenced, so unless there is a way to guarantee the order of accounts being referenced, the mappings from Windows SIDs to Unix UIDs will be different between old and new.Is there anyway that you can sanitize and post a small snippet of what's going on with the mapping files? I think I can follow this but I'm a bit confused by the username/UID thing since usually if a username is defined in /etc/passwd than the files will display the username. If a username is not defined in /etc/passwd then the ls command will revert to just showing the numbers which I take it is what you don't want to happen.
If you could also sanitize and post even one of the acl's that might help clear up that portion of the problem as well.
