EBS R12 on Windows Vista with 32 bit
Hi,
Does anybody have installed EBS R12 (32 bit) on Windows Vista with 32 bit successfully?
I am aware that with Windows Vista 64 bits EBS R12 for Windows does not work.

Thanks for your reply. I will not buy any type of Windows Vista for this purpose. I will buy a desktop PC with Windows XP Professional (32-bit) and with 500 GB. The Oracle Installation Guide recommends about 233 GB (dosk space) for a fresh install with a Vision Demo database. Do you think 500GB is more than enough for the initial install? Does it matter which processor I buy (AMD or Intel)? Do have any recommendation as to what processor should I buy (E series or Q series for Intel processor)?

Installing EBS R12 on Windows Vista Basic
I am trying to install EBS R12 media pack on my computer having Windows Vista Basic.
I could have the installation pass 2 steps out of 5.
But while performing the third step, it is failing with the following error:

Even if you try to make RapidWiz understand that you are trying to install on some other Windows OS version (i.e. like Windows XP), RapidWiz will not complete successfully.

RaamYou cannot install EBS on Windows 7.
One option is to install VM software (like VMWare or VirtuaBox), then install OEL 5.7 in the VM, then install EBS on OEL 5.7
Your hardware specs (disk, RAM) are not enough - if you follow the above, the install will be extremely slow and unusable. You will likely need 1TB of disk and at least 6GB (or 8GB) of RAM for the VM in order to have a usable install.

F. AmorsoloWindows 7 is not certified as you mentioned above, and I have never heard of any successful installation of 11i/R12 on Windows 7 Professional/Home (32-bit or 64-bit).
You could create a VM, and use a certified OS (Windows or Linux) then install R12.

I went ahead and tried it anyway to see what kind of errors I get and to confirm if the errors I get are consistent with other people using Windows Vista. FYI, my installation went as far as 99% complete of step 2 of 5 before it errored out. I checked and noticed that many components of EBS have been installed with status equal zero which is good.
When I got the "TNS-12541: TNS: no listener", I went to Windows services, located the Oracle TNS service that was created by the EBS installation and tried to start it. Then I got this error: "error 1053 the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". I googled the error message and the resolution is: "To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.". I have tried this but it does not work because my Windows Vista uses a higher version of .Net Framework 1.1. I have done more research but to no avail. However, it is fun as I learn many things about the EBS intallation and Windows Vista.
By the way, these are the steps when I run the rapidwiz on Windows Vista. Click on Start => Click on command prompt => right click on command Prompt => select run as administrator => CD to the path where the rapidwiz reside. Somehow if I use the regular command prompt the installation will die on step 1 of 5 even when I log in as administrator.
In your case you are using Windows 2k3. Make sure your OS is not 64 bit. Whenever you get an error and it does not say much, google it to see the resolution and make sure you read the Installation Guide. Hope this helps. -
In Windows Vista business 64 bits...Itunes can't load data information class...

Renamed the sycservices folder and nothing, copied corefoundations.dll and folder to system32 and nothing...

Thanks for your reply but I keep having the problem. I've been investigation through the Internet and I beleive is a COM situation or something is in conflict with iTunes, either way I manage to compare a similar environment (Win Vista 64 bits Business with iTunes running) and figured out that process "Syncserver.exe" is not running and neither is running "ATH.exe".
I'm reading more about what could possible causing these two process from being executing as they should.

Installing Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit on Bootcamp issue
Hi I'm a newbie, I would like to install Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit using boot camp. I went into boot camp to partition and split the 1 terabyte hardrive. half is for Leopard, the other half is for Windows Vista.
I followed the steps and popped in the disk, awhile later I get a message saying "Where do you want to install Windows?"
It's showing:
Disk 0 Partition 1 200 mb primary
Disk 0 Partition 2 466 gb Primary
Disk 0 unallocated space 128 mb
Disk 0 partition 3 Boot camp 464 gb Primary.
which ever one I click on it says "Windows Cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS"
I can't get passed this part, what do I do?

Vista needs its system partition to be formatted with NTFS.
The BootCamp Asistant does a pre-format with FAT32 since OSX can not write to NTFS partitions (only read).
Therefor you have to reformat the Windows partition with the Vista Installer to NTFS.
See page 11 of the BootCamp Setup Guide found here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ (and it's also part of the BootCamp Assistant).

LCES 8.2 Turnkey Install on "Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @2.67GHz 3GB Ram Windows Vista Home 64 bit"
Installed Java 1.5 SE (jdk-1_5_0_16-windows-amd64.exe) then set JAVA_HOME in system variable and set path to JAVA_HOME\bin etc.
During the Turnkey installation process in the LC Configuration Manager screen, process gets stuck with ACL-LCM-999-032 error.

Also I can not start the Windows service from Services , tried to set user too to use to start the service but no success please help, I can not proceed further.
Note: I downloaded jboss-4.2.0.GA fresh just to check if I can atleast start the default Jboss container on this machine and I can "run -c all" with no error.

Bootcamp: Sound not working on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
Hello everyone, I've got quite an unsual problem (whell at least I think anyway). On my iMac (Mid 2008, 2.4Ghz C2D, 2GB ram, 2400XT), I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). I've been using the sound out of the speakers, until now when I decided to connect some extenal speakers. I have the bootcamp drivers installed (from Snow Leopard DVD). When I plugged the headphone jack into the headphone socket on the back, I noticed that the sound was still coming out of the speakers, so I opened the preferences and it showed that I had something plugged into the line-in jack- which I didn't! I removed the headphone jack from the headphone socket and plugged it into the line-in. Nothing changed in the preferences. So basically, Windows thinks the line-out port is line-in! I would appreciate some help with this issue, not sure how common it is!
Thanks :-)Hi I'm not sure if this is going to help but have you got the service pack 1 installed on your laptop as when I installed it on my desktop the first time it caused blue screen errors and gave me loads of problems including error messages that seemed to come up with every application I opened and an annoying driver IQRL equal or less than but couldn't work out why and then in the end I had so many problems I had to totally reformat my desktop and I removed my XP scanner and webcam(both had vista drivers) and when I reinstalled the service pack 1 it was fine, so do you by any chance have anything attached to your laptop that was XP and has vista drivers as these seemed to be what was causing my errors.
Also a question about your graphic card drivers, I've got the same laptop as you and was looking for the graphic card driver updates and couldn't find them anywhere on the site, where did you find yours? I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 bit , my model number is A200-28P(PSAE6) and I'd love to know if there is a newer graphics card driver but can't find it on the knowledge base so the fact you've updated yours would you mind pointing a new user in the right direction :-)

I am using Windows Vista with Outlook 2007 and iCloud. Everything has been great until this morning. I'm suddenly getting the message "Set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. I tried running the repair utlity to repair the iCloud however I am still getting this error message.
I tried rebooting. It didn't change anything.
