EC-PCA  controlling area settings     - Store transaction currency

Hi
Reviewing controlling area settings I found that ckeck "store transaction currency " is off  ... could I activate (set on) in a productive client that already has postings ??
This could bring any problems? Or It would be better to activate it at beginning of next year?
Reward points to hepful answers
King Regards

Hi Andres,
It is possible to turn on "store transaction currency" indicator even after data has been posted. It increases the data volume and is relevant for data coming through other modules (has no effect on data posted within PCA). It is strongly recommended to test it before you implement in the production system and also refer to OSS help for any recommendations.
Turning on has effect on the future transactions only and will not change the past data.

  • Is EC-PCA Controlling Area Settings configured as new GL function/Classic?

    Hi guyz,
I need to configured Profit Center Local Currency in order to execute Profit Center Standard Report.
As far as I know, in Classic Profit Center Accounting, I configure it at EC-PCA Maintain Controlling Area Settings at SPRO.
Where can I configure it in the *new GL - PCA*?
    Need your help asap...Thanking you

it's classic, so it's no need to configure it.
The new PCA report is using Financial Statement:Actual/Actual in the new GL report (sap easy access: new GL-information system-cash flow-general).

    Reagrds,
    venkataswamy

    Hi Venkataswamy,
First you should set your controlling area to your controlling area with the help of TCode OKKS.
Once you have set the controlling area, Goto the TCode KE59 where you can create the dummy profit center master record.
After you create it you can go and see in TCode 0KE5 controlling area settings that your dummy profit center field is filled with the one you created in KE59.
    Hope this helps you....

  • Controlling area currency - urgent

    Hi,
In a project we are using Controlling Area Currency as INR. As our group company is europe based they want us to change to EUR. We are also using PCA where currency is INR. I want to know the pros and cons of changing the same to EUR from INR.
    Bye,
    Ramesh

    Hello
Check this if it could help you
When you create a controlling area, you specify whether the controlling area currency may differ from the company code currency, and which particular currency is to be the controlling area currency.
You can use the company code currency or the currency of a different organizational unit recorded as a parallel currency in the company code. You can also use a separate controlling area currency not dependent on the company code currency.
Cross-company code cost accounting can therefore be performed for company codes that use values recorded in different currencies. SAP recommends that you specify a consistent parallel currency for the company codes, and use this as the controlling area currency. In this case, postings in Controlling are made that are relevant for Accounting.
The following currencies are valid in Controlling:
    · Controlling area currency
The system uses this currency for cost accounting. This currency is set up when you create the controlling area. It is based on the assignment control indicator and the currency type.
(see:  Specifying Controlling Area Currency )
    · Object currency
Each object in Controlling, such as cost center or internal order, may use a separate currency specified in its master data. When you create an object in CO, the SAP system defaults the currency of the company code to which the object is assigned as the object currency. You can specify a different object currency only if the controlling area currency is the same as the company code currency. There is an object currency for the sender as well as one for the receiver.
    · Transaction currency
Documents in Controlling are posted in the transaction currency. The transaction currency can differ from the controlling area currency and the object currency. The system automatically converts the values to the controlling area currency at the exchange rate specified.
The system always translates actual data with the average rate (exchange rate type M).
You store the exchange rate type for each currency. You can specify a different exchange rate type for planning data in the version.
All three currencies are saved in the totals records and the line items. This enables you to use the different currencies for evaluations in the information system. This is only possible if you specified that all currencies should be updated for the given controlling area (see: Maintain Controlling Area).
The transaction currency is USD, the controlling area currency is EUR, and the object currency is SFR (Swiss francs). The system converts the amounts as follows:
1.) From transaction currency to controlling area currency (USD ® EUR)
2.) From controlling area currency to object currency (EUR ® SFR)
The following additional currencies may also appear as controlling area currencies in Controlling if you use cross-company code cost controlling:
    Local Currency:
Company code currency (country currency) used for local ledgers in external accounting.
For each company code you can specify one or two parallel currencies (= second and third local currencies) which are stored in the documents and updated parallel to the local currency in the general ledger.
    Group Currency:
Currency in which the group balance sheet is displayed.
You can specify it as a parallel currency (additional local currency) for a company code.
    Hard Currency:
Secondary currency for countries with high inflation. You can specify it as a parallel currency (additional local currency) for a company code. You need to specify the hard currency in the detail screen for the corresponding country.
    Index-Based Currency:
Country-specific, fictitious currency stipulated in certain countries with high inflation for tax returns. You can specify it as a parallel currency (additional local currency) for a company code. You need to specify the index-based currency in the detail screen for the corresponding country.
    Global Company Currency:
Currency used in a corporate group. In the CO application component you can create companies to represent divisions, regions, or product groups.
You can specify it as a parallel currency (additional local currency) for a company code. You need to store the global company currency in the detail screen for the corresponding company.
For more information on defining parallel currencies, see Customizing under Financial Accounting ® FI Global Settings ® Company Code ® Parallel Currencies ® Defining additional local currencies.

  • Currency in credit control area - Urgent !

    Hi,
The client wants to change the currency in the credit control area from SIT (Slovenian Tolar) to EUR ( Euro). Can somebody list the impact of changing the currency in the credit control area.
    Its URGENT !
    Regards
    Karpagam

    Hi,
I don't think we can change the currency of Credit Control Area after the transaction data is posted. For the same Custome account part of the transactions will be in SIT and part of them in EUR. Even if it allows it leads to inconsistencies in the tables.
Check whether there are any OSS notes for changing the currency of Credit Control Area.
Probably, you can consider to set up a new Credit Control Area with EUR currency.
    Thanks
    Murali.

  • Controlling are currency / Profit Center accounting currency - Approach

    Dear All Expsrts,
I am configuring CO Area where one company code is equal to one controlling area.
1 ) So what sould be be currency ideally ? 10 or 30 ? Company code currency or Group Currency ?
2 ) Same way in 0KE5 ( Profit Center Account - Controlling area settings ) which should be currency type - As I think if CoCd and Co Area is one to one relationship it should be 10 always. - Please correct me if I am wrong.
3 ) 0KE5 is it mandatory to keep valuation view as a profit center valuation or Legal Valuation ? What is difference between both and in which cases we can use each?
Expert guidance will be helpful on this.
    Regards,
    Revati Joshi.
Moderator: Please, avoid asking basic questions. Do some research before posting

    Dear Revati Joshi
In the legal view goods movements are posted between profit centers at the sales price which was agreed between internal trading partners who produce a balance sheet/profit and loss statement independently.
In the profit center view goods movements are posted between profit centers at negotiated transfer prices which are used for internal profit determination and corporate management.

There is a one controlling area and two different company codes for two different countries. While I am creating Internal Order for CWIP asset of Spain where currency is EUR I am not getting problem of crating CWIP asset through KO01.
While I am creating Internal Order for CWIP asset of Morocco where currency is MAD I am getting problem of creating CWIP asset through KO01. Error shows as :
AuC requires an area in the controlling area currency EUR
    Message no. AY310
    Diagnosis
The controlling area currency EUR is not managed in any of the areas of the asset under construction that is to be created. However, this currency is required for the capital investment measure.
    System Response
Error message: Creating the AuC or releasing the order/ WBS element is not possible; or changing the asset under construction is not possible.
    Procedure
Check if you manage the controlling area currency in one of the depreciation areas in Asset Accounting, especially in asset class M999. If you do not, then define such a depreciation area. Make sure that this depreciation is active in asset class M999.
You can save the order / WBS element if you remove the investment profile that was entered.
u2022     If you are in the 'Change asset' transaction, check if you have deactivated a depreciation area that manages controlling area currency EUR. Re-activate this depreciation area.
What will be the probable solutions ?

  • KE5Z - Amounts in transaction currency

    Hi,
I am using 6.0 version. I am trying to view the actual PC line items using KE5Z.
But, the field "In transaction currency" is Blank.
In PC settings (0KE5) , i have maintained PCtr Local Currency Type as "20" (Controlling area currency)
I tried using FAGLL03 - as an alternative report, But i need some other fields like Vendor Name, Entry time & date which are not available in FAGLL03.
Moreover, we run the reports based on Profit Centers in KE5Z and this is not feasible in FAGLL03 where Co Code is a compulsory field.
Please advise me, why the "transaction currency" is not pulled in KE5Z ?
    Thanks,
    Pavan.

    Hello,
In PCA settings 0KE5, you have not checked "Store Transaction Currency".
Make sure before checking this tick, the system write in two currencies and it will have negative impace on the performance if you have large volume of data. Only if it is particularly required, then you check it.
    Read F1 Help:
    Store transaction currency in EC-PCA
This indicator controls whether or not the transaction currency is updated when actual or plan data is transferred from other components to Profit Center Accounting.
Setting this flag increases the data volume, since the totals records need to be broken down according to the transaction currency.
The indicator has no effect on direct entry of data in Profit Center Accounting. If a corresponding layout is used, values can be entered or planned in the transaction currency, even if the indicator has not been set here.

    Ravi

  • Changing controlling area from single company code to cross company code

    Hi,
Due to my client requirement, in the middle of the year, we need to change the controlling area from being same as company code to cross company code controlling area. Although the currency is same. We are going to create a new company code. Is the changing controlling area settings possible to do? what are the precautions and changes need to be taken?
One more question, we need to change the company code when the new company code is created in the system in Cost Center Masters in the middle of the year. Is this possible after changing controlling area from single company code to cross company code. Right now company code is not appearing in the cost center master.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Saidarao

    Hi,
If both companies having transaction data its not possible,Normally before defining Organisational Strucutre only we have to deside both companies is assigning same controlling are or have to maitain separately for this we have to compare the Fiscal year,Operating chart of accounts ,if both having same then we will assign both the company codes to one controlling area if these two companies having different currencies also its not a problem. When we creating Controlling Area we have to choose option of controlling area as same company code (if one company code one controlling Area) for example if you assigning two companies then we have to use cross company code cost accounting. If u need any further information let me know.

    Satya

  • GLPCA- TSL - 1KEJ - Missing transaction currency values

Hello all, i hope you can help me out.  We still have a part of our company on 3.1H and we have a little problem.  We have a report that looks at the GLPCA table and needs to get the Transactional currency amount TSL.  However it looks like all the transaction dealing with transaction 1KEJ - Profit Center- Transfer WIP, the values do not get generated with a transactional currency amount.  Now i am not sure if it is a configuration issue or if that is the way it processed back in the 3.1H days, but i just need to know, if i have to make changes so we aren't relying on the TSL field for values in GLPCA.
    Thanks,
    Sean

Check contolling area settings in Transaction 0KE5 (field TKA01-PCATRCUR). Take into account the data volume if you are still using 3.1H.
Additionally if you already have data in tables GLPCA/GLPCT then you will need to run transaction 1KE8 (with reversing check box ticked, additionally consider checkbox transfer MM,SD etc) BUT be careful of data volume if you have already updated PCA with your CoCodes transactions for many months or with many transactions. 1KE8 will reverse the current PCA document and then repost a new PCA document with your new configuration settings. You can run 1KE8 in test mode.
I am not sure whether 0KE5 settings will solve your problems but worth a look.
These transactions are for 46C onwards as its been a long time since using 31H for me. Award points if useful.

  • Transaction Currency in Result Analysis - KKA2

    Hi,
We have  a Z program to calculate WIP for projects at the end of the month.   This program in turn calls transaction KKA2 - Result Analysis.  We have EUR as controlling area currency and INR as object currency (CC currency).  Our projects have INR as project currency but the transactions are booked in USD EUR SGD and INR.  We want to calculate WIP in transaction  currency.
We checked and found that COSB table is updated with values in controlling area currency EUR and object currency INR.  but transaction value(COSB-WTGXX) is not updated when we do KKA2.   COSB is always updated with object currency(INR) and CO area currency(EUR) while value in transaction currencies are blank.
We tried to set transaction currency as default for project with transaction RPXN- CO-OM Information System: Settings but that did not help.  We checked and found that in controlling area configuration indicator 'All currencies' is selected.
Will you please let me  know if there is a way to update COSB with transaction currency values with configuration changes in Result Analysis version used for KKA2 or any other means?
    Thanks for your help.
    With Regards

    Hi,
the requirement is bit surprising to me.
transaction currency is normally related to FI related transactions.  Because either the you might bill to the customers in a currently other than co.code currency if it is required by the contract with customer or you might get bills from the vendor in a currency other than your co.code currency
This should not have any bearing on the controlling stuff.
When you post the values to CO, the values will be converted in to object currency and controlling area currency.
Result Analysis calcution will necessarily be in co.code and controlling area currency.  There is no transaction currency involved here.
    Hope this clarifies your question
