ECC 6.0 Tree System Landscape distribute on different  geographic site.

Dear experts, we have a important question.
In the context of our very important business project,
we may need to distribute our ECC6.0 "tree system landscape" on different geographic site and in detail:
DEV system    in Italy
QAS system    in Italy
PRD system    in America.
Besides the obvious restrictions, linked to network reliability and avalability,  there are other constraints ?
Can be achieved this configuration ?
You know similar configurations ?
Give me, please, your  opinions and considerations ?
Thanks and Regards
Massimo

Hi,
We are having a running landscape of non-unicode system.
Now, Another Landscape is being used by parent company of Unicode Systems. Now, All data, programs, objects are being configured on the parent company server. So, there is no chance to migrate non-unicode to unicode.
But, We have to apply all packages developed on Non-unicode system to Unicode System. I have released that request and copied data file and cofile into target developement System (Unicode) then imported on this Server.
Now, we are facing this problem (Above mentioned.). I think, there must be a solution for it conceptually.

    Hi Vimal
customer specific system landscapes for an application as large as SAP ERP depend on many factors. It is thus not possible to give you "the" SAP ERP - Human Capital Management System landscape, without knowing which functions this HCM Landscape should support, where, in which languages.... (i.e. for some processes a pure SAP ECC System is sufficient, for others, you need a portal and Process integration as well)
For this reasons, the already mentioned SAP ERP 6.0 Master Guide takes a planning-support-approach. It discusses four different "typical" reference system landscapes (Minimal System Landscape,..... Individual/ Distributed Landscape), and extends them to different possible example landscapes, to show you how to plan your own landscape.
The example system landscape for HCM shown there assumes, that you intend to install the complete scope, and that you need firewalls, because this HCM landscape should support external recruiting scenarios as well.
Closeley related to the planning process for system landscapes is the process component list (service.sap.com/scl), where you find information about which SAP ERP process needs which software component, and is available in which countries/ languages.

    Dear all,
I have an ECC system with ABAP and Java installed.
I already configured so that SLDCheck, RFC destination configuration run successfully.

  • System landscape planning on system i

    Hi,
We have V5R4 latest AS/400 Model with 2  LPARS(Logical Partitions). Each LPAR consists 2 TB storage and 30GB RAM.
    a) LPAR1 - 2TB Storage ( SB,TA,DEV,QAS) :
    b) LPAR2- 2 TB Storage for Production (PRD) + HA- High Availability
Our initial plan is All Solution Manager Instances B,TA,DEV,QAS), ECC6.0 Instances
    (SB,TA,DEV,QAS), Net Weaver 2004s instances (SB,TA,DEV,QAS) install on LPAR1.
Each LPARS consists 3 iASPs(Auxilarlly  Storage Pool).
    ASP1- SYSBASE stores all Instances(Solution Manager,ECC6.0,Netweaver 2004s)  Files Systems like /usr/sap/SID-SB,TA,DEV,QAS.
    ASP2- Journals : Stores all instances(Solution Manager,ECC6.0,Netweaver 2004s) recent databse changes.
    ASP3 - Libraries storesStores all instances(Solution Manager,ECC 6.0,Net weaver2004s)Database informations
But We are planning to implement 2 iASPs in LPAR1 ( DEV/TR/QA )

    Not quite, Nesimi
The planning guide is clear: For each data supplier, you need a dedicated user in the central SLD.
What I do not understand is why. Why can't I get away with using the SLDDSUSER of the central SLD for all data suppliers? What difference does it make if I have a dedicated user for each data supplier in the central SLD?
I have 10 systems to send data to my central SLD and I want to avoid creating 10 different users, if it can be avoided

  • No access to system landscape at present

    Hi
I am trying to establish connectivity between ECC and PI. I am in SXMB_ADM of ECC and under Global Configuration Data, I put the role of business system as Application System. Now when I click on the Systel Landscape, I am getting an error " No access to system landscape at present". How should I solve this?
What do I enter next to corresponding Integ server ?

    Hi,
Check in SLDCHECK, from R/3 side, if everyhting is ok.
    You may want to check:
    #1143810 - Troubleshooting SLDCHECK - Releases 71X
Second point, check note below to about the components in SLD, if they are correctly registered.
#1334053 - No automatic PI 7.10 SLD Registration
And take into account the following notes mentioned in the note above:
#1117249 - Incomplete Registration of PI components in SLD
#764176 - Error in XI due to inconsistent SLD contents
Last recommendation, open the Exchange Profile and change all parameters that ends in *.name to FQDN, and don't forget to restart the system to activate the changes.
For more information about the FQHN, check the notes below:
#773830 - FQHN determination in ICM

  • What is the Three System Landscape in SAP

    Hi All,
Please explain me What is the Three system Landscape in SAP.
    Thank you very much,
    Kavya.

    1.  Database Layer
The database layer consists of a central database system containing all of the data in the R/3 System. The database system has two components - the database management system (DBMS), and the databse itself. SAP does not manufacture its own database. Instead, the R/3 System supports the following database systems from other suppliers: ADABAS D, DB2/400 (on AS/400), DB2/Common Server, DB2/MVS,INFORMIX, Microsoft SQL Server, ORACLE, and
ORACLE Parallel Server. The database does not only contain the master data and transaction data from your business applications, all data for the entire R/3 System is stored there. For example, the database contains the control and Customizing data that determine how your R/3 System runs. It also contains the program code for your applications. Applications consist of program code, screen
definitions, menus, function modules, and various other components. These are stored in a special section of the database called the R/3 Repository, and are accordingly called Repository objects. You work with them in the ABAP Workbench.
    2.  Application Layer
The application layer consists of one or more application servers and a message server. Each application server contains a set of services used to run the R/3 System. Theoretically, you only need one application server to run an R/3 System. In practice, the services are distributed across more than one application server. This means that not all application servers will provide the full  range of services. The message server is responsible for communication between the application servers. It passes requests from one application server to another within the system. It also contains information about application server groups and the current load balancing within them.  It uses this information to choose an appropriate server when a user logs onto the system.
    3.  Presentation Layer
The presentation layer contains the software components that make up the SAPgui (graphical user interface). This layer is the interface between the R/3 System and its users. The R/3 System uses the SAPgui to provide an intuitive graphical user interface for entering and displaying data.  The presentation layer sends the user’s input to the application server, and receives data for display from it. While a SAPgui component is running, it remains linked to a user’s terminal
    session in the R/3 System.

  • Best practice: Webdynpro in a large system landscape

    Dear Sirs,
I have a few questions about using Webdynpro (WD) in a large system landscape.  After doing some research I understand there are a few alternatives, and I would like to get your opinions on the issue and links to any relevant documentation. I know most of my questions do not have a single answer, but I hope we can get a disussion, which will highlight the pro/cons.
My landscape consists of a full set of ECC and portal servers (DEV, QA, P) , where using WD to fetch BABI’s from the backend and present them in the portal is a likely scenario.
<b><i>Deploy the WD components on portal servers or on separate servers?</i></b>
Would you deploy the WD components on the portal WAS or would you advice having a (or a number) of servers dedicated to running WD.
The way I see it, when you are having a large number of developers, giving  away the SDM password to the portal server (DEV) in order for them to test WD applications is not advisable (or perhaps more true, not wanted by the basis). So perhaps a separate WAS for development of WD is advisable, and then let basis deploy them into the portal QA and PROD server.  I do not think that each developer having its own local J2EE for testing is likely.
How about performance?, will any solution be preferable over an other. Will it be faster/slower to run WD on separate WAS.
    <b><i>Transporting the WD components</i></b>
How should one transport the components and keep them pointing to the right JCO connections (as you have different JCO connections for (DEV, QA, P)), I have seen example with threads where you opt for a dynamic setting of the JCO connections through parameters.  Is this the one to prefer?
Any documentation on this issue would be highly appreciated. (Already read: System Landscape Directory, SAP System Landscape Directory on SAP Web AS Java 6.40)

Look into using NWDI as your source code control (DTR) and transport/migration from dev through to production.  This also will handle the deployment to your dev system (check-in/activate).
For unit testing and debugging you should be running a local version (NWDW).  This way once the code is ready to be shared with the team, you check it in (makes it visible to other team members) and activate it (deploys it to development server).
We are currently using a separate server for WD applications rather than running them on the portal server.  However, this does not allow for the WD app to run in the new WD iView.  So it depends on what the WD app needs to do an have access to.  Of course there is always the Federated Portal Network as an option, but that is a whole other topic.
For JCo connections, WD uses a connection name and this connection can be set up to point to different locations depending on which server it is on.  So on the development server the JCo connection can point to the dev back-end and in prod point to the prod back-end.  The JCo connections are not migrated, but setup in each system.
I hope this helps.  There is a lot of documentation available for NWDI to get you started.  See:  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/01/9c4940d1ba6913e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

  • SAP RAR - Best Practice ECC,CRM and BW systems

    Hi All
i have the requirement to configure RAR for the systems ECC,CRM and BW systems . Each system has only one client . whats the best practice regarding using the rules against each system . i am assuming the rules will be the same irrespective of the system but when i see the names of the initial files , they are system specific . can anybody elloborate around this . thanks
    Regards
    Prasad

    Prasad,
To build on Chinmaya's explanation, make sure you use a logical system for CRM, BI, and ECC for the basis portion of the rule set (and only the basis portion).  This will keep you from duplicating your rules to meet your basis requirements.  The other rules should be attributed to the individual systems (or additional logical systems if including mult landscapes, ex. Dev, QA, and Prod ECC merged into one ECC logical system).

  • System Landscape security

    Hi,
We have a system landscape having systems based on Java stack(EP,BI Java), Java+ABAP(XI,SRM) stack and ABAP(ECC) stack.
We have Windows Active Directory as the LDAP server.
We need to implement a security concept for the entire landscape.
Requirement is to use single sign-on and LDAP. We also want to use Windows integrated authentication.
Could someone please answer the following questions:
1.Recommended data source for users and role assignments?(LDAP,ABAP,UME).
2.Can/Should CUA be used to manage the users of Java stacks?
    4. Any other recommendation / learnings?
Basically, I need to know an optimal/tested solution for implementing security in such a complex landscape.
    Thanks.

    Rohit,
If you go to https://websmp207.sap-ag.de/security and navigate to 'Security in Detail' on detailed navigation, you will find relevant information.
There is also a security guide on /NW2004s. Related documents you can find at

  • 3 system and 4 system landscape - Charm

    Dear All,
We have 3 system landsacpe for ECC and 4 System Landscape for BI?
Is it possible to configure CHaRM for these landscape?
If yes, please give me step by step guidelines.
    How to create Maintenance Cycle?
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
This is possible. The three system landscape is the usual scenario. In four system landscap, you just need to add a pre-production system in your landscape.
Go to the Wiki http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/Weblogs%20related%20to%20Solution%20Manager and search for Change Request Management. There are some 10 docs available there. Specifically have a look on
First steps to work with Change Request Management scenario
    /people/dolores.correa/blog/2008/07/26/first-steps-to-work-with-change-request-management-scenario
Call service.sap.com/rkt-solman. You can find the materials for project prepration, corrections etc.
Call SPRO in your solman system and go through the documentation provided there.
This will give you adequate information for configuring ChaRM.

  • System Landscape and system alias

    Dear All EP Expert,
    I have some general questions.
    1) If i wanted to connect my EP 7.0 to backend ECC 6. Is there any specific name that i must use for my system landscape and system alias?
    2) Is the system lanscape come in when i include the business package?
    3) Where can i download the latest ESS and MSS business package?
Can someone assist me on this?
    Thanks you in advance...
    Regards,

    Hi Brian ,
you cal also download latest ESS and MSS business packages from -->
download the business package from service market place.
Navigate through Downloads --> SAP Support Package --> Entry by Application group --> SAP Application Components --> SAP ERP --> SAP ERP2005 -->Entry Point by component -->SAP XSS Self - Service --> SAP ESS 600.
and similar for MSS 600 business package.
You cal also refer to this Note for further details about Self Services Business Packages.
    [Note 1004528|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1004528]
    Hope this helps.
And Regarding System Alias names, there is no such specific name you should keep, as no standard name exists , read more about it on.
    [system aliases|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e9/9bc93f92908032e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm]
    Also,
    System Aliases and SAP Systems
For SAP systems (BW, CRM, and so on), it is recommended to use a system alias that has as its name parameter the logical system name as defined in the SAP system itself. The logical system is specified in Table T000 in the SAP system.
    Reward points if helpful

  • System Landscape (Dual Development System)

    Dear SAP Experts,
We have Two-System Landscape(DEV-PRD) Whereas cross-client data is used in both the Customizing and quality assurance clients.
Currently, our company, just merged with another non-SAP-using company. The First move is to implement FI module and subsequently, all modules that we are now using.
My boss discussed with me if we could create another DEV server for company B to use for their customizing  and QA clients as not to impenge on our already customized set up.
Please advise if this set up is possible, and if not, Can anyone kindly give an advise how to approach my problem?
I'll give good points for the help that i can get.
    Best Regards,
    Jay

You can do this.  We currently have two Dev environments one for projects based on NetWeaver integration with our ECC systems and one for regular development / run and maintain.
I suggest doing a system copy of your development and rename the SID / hostname were it appears in the profiles and home directories for UNIX platforms.   Then perform post steps for SE06, printers, profiles, RFC etc...
For Microsoft install a CI instance and do a database copy to have current data.  Then do post copy steps in SAP.
Although SAP suggests not to refresh Development systems, we do it at least once a year to get current applicaiton data.
Think of it as a sandbox.
If you don't want to integrate your data with the new system, skip the database copy portion for Microsoft and do a fresh install for Unix.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot create Portal System and Alias in System Landscape in Portal

    hallo all,
i want to install vc, therefore i need to create an Portal System and Alias.
this i should do in system landscape in the portal
(System Admin -> System config -> System landscape )!
but when i open it, it is loading and loading and nothing happens!
can someone tell me, what problem that could be?
ep 7.0 is installed and i want to connect to ERP 2005 ECC 6.0.
    regards Vartan

    Vartan,
The VC needs a portal in order to run - it needs to borrow the core portal and J2EE functionaliy as the VC components only bring in VC specific applications.
One question to ask, based upon personal experience, is what browser are you using here please? For instance, I've hit this issue when working from Firefox (1.5 or 2.0) but not when I'm running the same link in IE 6.0.
Just a thought. Let me know how you do.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • 5 system landscape for MDM?

We are in the process to layout infrastructure for release 2 of our transformation project for ECC, MDM, PI, BODS. We are debating on possible solutions
    1) typical 5 system landscape like below.
    DEV->QA->PRD
    DEV2->QA2
DEV2, QA2 are project landscape and others are maintenance landscape. After project testing, changes from QA2 will be moved to DEV, QA, PRD
    2) dual landscape
Here, layout is same as option 1 but for go live changes will be moved directly from QA2 to PRD.
I like to know what are the pros/cons of each approach.

    Hi Subin,
The first approach is a lot easier to manage and involves lesser risks.
Also as Vag rightly points that in case of different Vendors co-ordination is also an important point to consider before designing such a landscape.
We too used the first approach and once our major change was done,we merged the systems which in your case are DEV2 and QA2.This was a much cleaner approach.
    Thanks,
    Ravi
