ECC 6 RAM utilization going at peak in 30 min interval of time

Dear Team,
We are running ECC6 EHP4 on vmware.
OS RHEL 5.4
DB MAXDB 7.7.04 build 28
We are facing one issue related to RAM High utilization in ECC 6 EPH4 system.
earlier we had 8GB RAM after this issue upgraded to 16 GB.But the issue still persist.
Our system works fines.After 30-45 mins RAM usage goes at peak.Due to which we face performance issue and due to which we are not even able to login in the SAP system.
As checked from sm37,sm66 no sap process is running than also its RAM usage is going at high.
We are not able to see any process in top at OS level that is consuming to much RAM.
Please advice .

Are you running any backups in that interval? Are archive logs written?

I've just purchased a new Mac mini server and also a new time capsule is there any easy way to ghost or transfer the new machines at the same time or is it best to do one at a time?

I have no direct experience transferring a TC and computer at the same time, but prudence tells me to do one, test to be sure it is correct only then do the other. It will take twice as long from process start to finish, but avoids any nasty surprises at process end. In close to 40 years experience, I have never seen a "crash conversion" (everything at the same time) that did not have at least one major disaster. I am sure it can happen but the odds are heavily against it. Patience is a virtue!

RAM utilization keeps increasing over time

Environment: SharePoint Server 2010 on a stand-alone server, total RAM: 24GB
I noticed that on our server the RAM utilization keeps going up until it gets to about 94-97% at which point everything become extremely slow or completely non-responsive. we reboot the server, the RAM utilization goes down to about 28% but then starts
increasing again. I used Resource Monitor and looked at the memory section. From the processes listed there it looks like the sqlserver.exe process's private memory usage keeps increasing proportionally to the whole RAM utilization while the other
processes seem to be relatively constant. Here is a sample data:
August 1st: 44% used physical memory, SQL Server private memory:4.2GB
August 5th: 63% used physical memory, SQL Server private memory:8.6GB
August 9th: 74% used physical memory, SQL Server private memory:12.1GB
August 12th: 78% used physical memory, SQL Server private memory:13.7GB
Could you please suggest any tools or techniques that would help us determine what is causing this increase in RAM utilization?

For single instance SQL 2008 R2 or higher installations where no other applications (like SharePoint) are running, it is not necessary to set MAXMEM.

RAM utilization 95% for a while..system slow down..

we are using win2003 ECC 6.0 SQL database.
having RAM 12GB. some times servers RAM utilization will be near to 95%. in TA st06 there is only lessthan 200 kb
of physical memory free.
and CPU idle is ok    70 to 95%.
but my dialog responce times are as follows:

Above i observed that avg processing is tooo high as compared to avg responce time.
during that above time period i observed that the RAM utilization is more...how can i know which process causing thiese much RAM utilization....if i go to windows taksmanager there is highest mem utililzation with disp+work round 200-300MB.
please let me know where i have to concentrate to overcome this issue which happens alternatively 2 or 3 days a while.

You can find out the tcodes which are consuming higer memory through the ST03 under Memory Use Statistics here you need to choose task type dialog, based on the info you need to use tocde STAD and input the Tcodes which had highest consuming memory you have got from ST03 and exectue it. The output gives you the user and work process and memory consumed etc which will help you to drill down to issue further.
While using STAD read interval should be taken care for 24 hrs you need to keyin like ths TIME 00:00:01 LENGTH 23:59:59

Ram utilization with 64 bit operating system

Attached is the current configuration of my 8.1 Pro PC & I have a question regarding RAM utilization with 32 bit programs running on this PC.
It has been my understanding that the 32 bit OS (XP Pro), at best, would be able to only utilize 4GB of RAM memory.
I've recently built a PC for the specific task of running an application which is very CPU & output intensive. The application is a Windows based 32 bit application which analyzes and recovers data from NAND chips. Input data comes from a 2.0 USB
feed, is processed and is then written to a 2 disk raid array.
Will the 64 bit operating system enable 32 bit applications to utilize more than 4GB of RAM memory? Any suggestions on how to maximize the processing of 32 bit application on a 64 bit OS would be appreciated.

As far as I know, 32-bit application running on x64 Windows system had a limit of memory address space. The max usage of RAM is 4GB. I also make a test using testlimit:
According to the screenshot, we can find that, 32-bit testlimit only can leak 4051MB memory, while 64bit testlimit can achieve to 5200 even more larger memory.

You can use Resource monitor and Task Manager->Performance to monitor the RAM memory utilization, I also recommend you to download the
RAMMap to get more detailed memory information.

Gurus i am using ECC6.0 Sql server on windows , our system RAM utilization for every 2 or 3 days becoming 100%, and then all repsonce times are becoming high...When i restart the system then system will be ok.
any i suggestions where do i start the investigation...

Hi,
Looks like the Memory requirement in your system is higher the resources you have in the system.
The reason why you are getitng the slow respsone is that when all the phisical memory is utilised, paging used to start which cause the system slow and when you restart the system, all the memory utilization refreshed and all the pages got free again.
Please check the memory consusmpltion in your system using the Tcode ST06 and if swapping is high most of the time, You can take a call for increase RAM of your system.
Please also make sure that you have set the SAP recommanded parameters for paging related in your system.

ECC Registered RAM & MSI MOBO

I was thinking of getting an MSI KT3 Ultra2(6380E-050) MOBO to replace A POS Gigabyte GA-7DXR+ but I want use the PC 2100 DDR ECC Registered RAM that I was using with the Gigabyte board.
dose any one know if ECC Registered RAM will work with the MSI board?

It should. I have one 512 MB stick of ECC on this KT3 Ultra board, and two of them on another (non-windoze) and both work flawlessly. The board will not use ECC functionality however.

In out db Tier Ram utilization is high eventhough we assigned only 3 gb to SGA and 3 gb to PGA out of total 32 gb. No other application is running other than database, we dont have any clue what to do, pls help

1. Please take AWR report and see what or which process eat your source.
2. Why pga is 3 gb? Please see below doc and compare it wiht your settings.

Does NF980-G65 take ECC/Registered RAM?

I know that it's not on the official list of tested, supported RAM, but does the NF980-G65 accept any ECC/Registered RAM modules? I can't find information on them anywhere. Anyhelp would be appreciated.

Your board does not support Registered ECC RAM. You have to use unregistered non-ECC RAM.

Just going to get a Mac Mini...

Hi guys and gals! I'm really excited right now, as I am going to get a Mac Mini in 3 days! My first Mac! I'm also going to pick up a 17" display the same day from Dell or Sony. Wow. I can't really express my enthusiasm in words and I keep belaboring the point that I am very excited!
Here's my setup:
1.42GHz PowerPC G4
512MB DDR333 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200
32MB DDR video memory
80GB Ultra ATA hard drive
Combo drive (DVD/CD-RW)
DVI or VGA video output
Built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth
Also, I had some questions:
- What do I use for extracting files from a compressed folder in OSX? For Windows I use Winzip and Winrar.
- I occasionaly edit video, maybe 3 times a month max. Will iMovie do fine with 512MB RAM?
- With 512MB RAM, will I experience repeated delays and "lag"?

congratulations on getting your Mini (or when you do..)
I couldn't encourage you strongly enough to get 1GB of RAM..I have a Mini on its way to me, and I ordered it with the full 1GB of RAM. This time, I bought the Apple RAM as it's not really that expensive, and will avoid the "take out all 3rd party RAM" suggestion apple provides in case of troubleshooting.
I'm downgrading from a pair of DP 2Ghz G5s, and do video editing; plan to do so on my 1.42ghz mini. I'm booting from an external 7200 RPM FW drive, and expect to do video just finetho, obviously much slower than on a G5!
Consider that a few years ago, a 1.42Ghz anything would have been considered a fantasy dream machine, I feel that I and all Mini users need to look at what we throw at the machine to get the most out of it. Maybe you'll have to be satisfied with fewer processes going on at once on your Mini, or maybe you'll have to trim your video clips more exactingly, not chuffing the burden on the Mini to blast thru the calculations on things you don't need it to do.
Bottom line is, the Mini is far more capable than the recommendations. I edited video on a 600Mhz Snow iBook; this Mini eats that iBook for lunch.

Go to Settings/ Messaging/ Send & Receive on each device to set the contact points to be reached at, and to set the "from" address when you start a new message. It sounds like your iPhone might be sending messages out as one thing (e.g. an iCloud address) but set to not receive replies only to your phone number. Make sure you review settings on each device since you may, or may not, want to have them common.

A Mid 2010 MacBook Pro supports 16 GB of memory without any problem. Macs are "special" about memory because some brands work without any problem and others don't work. No idea if Windows will do it, but you can run Windows without Bootcamp & have OSX available at the same time, which should give you all the Monitors that OSX uses.
