ECC as datasource

Hi Gurus ,
We implemented RDS and want to use ECC as datasource for BI4 4.1 ( with Data service )
it's somebody know to manage it

Here are some things to check:
- Verify that the SAP app server IP address, username, password, client and SID are correct
- Try to ping the SAP server IP address
- Try to ping the SAP host DNS name. You may need to use the complete DNS name, i.e., myserver.mycompany.com
- In the datastore, try replacing the SAP host's IP address with the DNS name
- If this a dialog account that you use to log into SAP GUI then your SAP system may require a non-dialog account for service connections

ECC 6 Datasource in ECC 5

We're running BI 7 with an ECC 5 source system. I'm interested in a datasource (0PM_MEASUREMENT) that help.sap.com says is Available as of Release SAP ECC 6.0. Of course, I can't see it currently in RSA5.
My question is, short of completely upgrading the source system to ECC 6, is there a way to get this datasource? Is there some smaller unit of software I can install?

If you want it on ECC 5.0 then create a view on table IMPTT and IMRG (join will be on Fields Measuring Point (POINT) and Client (MANDT).
Then create a generic extractor based on this view.

Transport of ECC/SRM datasources activation

Hello
I want to transport the activation of standard ECC or SRM datasources.
When I use the transportation icon (truck) in the RSA6 screen, the system indicates "action successfully completed" but it doesn't ask for a transport request.
How can I include these activations into a transport request?

Hey, when you are activating a data source, right then it will/should ask you for a transport request. If its not doing that, talk to your basis. If you want to move a datasource that is already transports, then you may have to change it/de-activate(delete) it and then activate it again. but its tricky job and you cannot do this safely on all datasources (especiall the ones that already has an existing delta queue).
Just in case, talk with a basis or Sr. Consultant about the complete requirement.
In summary, if you want to transport a new datasource, as soon as you activate it, you will get a transport request. If it didn't, Its important that you talk to basis. They have to change some parameters.
If you want to move already transported data source, tell us why? If you are making chages to it, it will then ask for a transport request.

3EC_CS_1A ECCS Consolidation DataSource does not extract Equity Method

In note 370048/588176 - Difference between database list and group reports.
For Posting level "00" The note says "Not included are Equity method or
Mutual stock method"(Tcode - CXM1).
In the ECC system they have a way to turn this function off to report on this Equity method consolidation units. Is there a work around for the BW extraction as well to extract the equity method consolidation units into BW?
Has anyone created Generic extractors on the ECMCT table?

Pointing BW DEV Client to a another client in ECC

Hi Folks,
I have a questions on BW & Basis.
We are having multiple clients in Ecc Development
ECC DEV i.e DE0 100 200 300.
Our BW Client is pointing to ECC DEV 200.
Now to ensure data integrity, We want to point the BW Client to DEV 300.
DEV 300 has only conversions. And the Data in 300 is more accurate.
And ofcourse, delete the previous master data and transactional data in BW and do the dataloads again in BW.
Can you advise:
If this will affect the present development happening in BW. Please note BW its the same client, but pointing to a different client in ECC within the Development Environment.

We are using ECC 200 for BW Extractions. Now BW Dev is pointing to ECC 200 Datasources. But the chart of accounts is completly messed up. Refereshing the data in 200 from 300 will not help as the Chart of Accounts and other issues.
So We want another client copy of ECC 200 to ECC 300.
And the functional team wants to do conversions in this new client.
Our concern, is
Can we change the pointer of BW DEV to this new ECC Client 300.
If Yes, will this effect my current development happending in BW.
Our Development is mostly happending on the reporting side. We completed the Desing of the BW Backend.

Creating Datasource and Extracting from SAP R/3 ECC 6.0

Hello Gurus,
I am very new in BI field, I am learning through notes provided in this Blog.
Curretnly I need to know how we create Datasource at SAP R/3 ECC 6.0 (is there any difference b/t these?)
and how we may extract data from R/3 ECC 6.0 Source System.

You can use any specific Extractors to Create Data Source in R/3 side.
Let me explain with Generic Extraction
Goto SBIW--> you can see all the extractions here
Generic extractors are of 3 types:
1. Based on table/view
2. Based on Info set Query
3. Based on Function module
If you would like to create a custom table, then goto SE11>Select Table>Click on Create (Now create you own table here & use this table while creating Transaction data)
Goto RS02-->Select Transaction data.
Click on Create
Choose an application component to which the data source is to be assigned
Click on Generic Delta
Specify the Delta-Specific and the type for the field.
Specify a safety interval
Select Data type>Save> Now Data source was generated successfully
After generating the data source , you will find Delta Flag checked.

Once you've done with Data Source in R/3 side--> u need to Replicate it to BI
Goto RSA1>source system>Select the Source system in which u've created Data source>R.C select Data Source Overview>Select the Application Component to which Data source is assigned>R.C Select Replicate dataSorce>here you can see your NEW Data source

BW Myself source system in ECC 5.0 while Export DataSource!!

Hello BW Experts,
When we do Export DataSource for a DataMart eg:ODS, we have to again select our Myself BW source system and replicate our datasource to see it visible in the infosource tree with our DataMart name starting with 8*.
Plz clarify these Qs:
1. Can we perform "Generate Export dataSource " for customer generated DataMarts and replicate them in Myself BW source (Other than Business Content DataMarts??)??
2. Which is the Myself BW system in the ECC 5.0 version as everything is integrated and used being the source system as T90CLNT800 with the client 800and with a single userID and password.
Note:I could not find my generated Datasource for my customer generated DataMart to replicate the same using T90CLNT800 context menu.
Plz throw some light on this!!

Hi,
You dont need to replicate the datasource after the generate export datasource. You can find your 8* datamart in the infosource by using any of these 2 methods:
1. Goto the top most of the info-source i.e. "Infosources" -> right click -> Insert lost nodes. You should be able to find your datamart.
2. Goto settings (menu) -> Display generated objects -> show generated objects.

SAP BW Standard DataSources not fetching records after SP12 upgrade on ECC Side

Hi All,
Few days back we had a SP 12 on ECC side.
Since then we are unable to load data through 0WBS_ELEMT_ATTR & 0PROJECT.
Even in RSA3 we are not able to get any records. After running for few minutes It just returns zero records.
Our BW system is SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.31.
ECC system is EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0
Please help us to solve the issue.

Hi Hardeep,
Please activate the datasources again in RSA5 and then try extracting from RSA3. You may have to regenrate the program for the extracts.

Upload Error, How do you identify the datasource in BI & ECC?

Hi BI Experts,
Hope you can help me on this.
We are using BI content to extract & model the data in BI. For the asset accounting infoarea, we had an unusual dataload. It should update around 10,000 records every day. In this instance there was 500,000 records & eventually the load failed when updating the cube.
I want to investigate why there were so many records. I hoped to check the datasource & check also ECC. But unfortunately I have no experience in data extraction, so I am not clear where to start.
Have you any suggestions on an approach to finding out why there were so many records?

When I choose RSA3 I am faced with settings screen which has automatically populated as follows;
Request ID - TEST
Data Records/Calls 10
Display Extr. Calls 10
Update Mode F
Execution Mode,
Debug not ticked
Auth Trace not ticked
In the Selection Table below, I wish to choose just Period 6, 2011. As this is the restriction on the infopackage.
I have tried to run this with various entries but it doesn't seem to return data, what should I enter in these selections please,

DataSource Enhancement in ECC 6.0

Dear Gurus,
Do anyone of you know the steps of Enhancing an Satandard Datasource (ex. 0FI_GL_1, 2LIS_13_VDITM) in ECC 6 or ECC 5.
I know the steps in R/3 but currently working in ECC 6. And finding it different.
Searched in forum but no luck !!
I have created a new characteristic and need to add it in the standard datasource (0FI_GL_1)
ASAP.

According to the SELECT statement given by you you are retrieving a single field data i.e. SPART into a single field gv_spart based on a where condition gv_trip-material. My question to you is how can you refer to gv_trip-material in the where condition if gv_trip is an internal table. I suggest you try the below code and see if you are getting the desired result.

List of the datasources (ECC 6)

Hi,
I just would get the list of all the datasources from the Business content (for ECC 6). I would put them in an Excel sheet (technical name + description).
Is there a table in SE16 with all the datasources?
Or does it exist a documentation with directly all the datasources in one page?
I still know the transaction RSA5... But it's hard to copy all the datasources in an Excel sheet

Use tables ROOSOURCE for the datasources - search with OBJVERS=D and ROOOSOURCET will give you the descriptions...

How to Make a Copy of Datasource 0CO_OM_OPA_6 in ECC?

Hi there,
I am facing a scenario where I need to create a new datasource that is the same as 0CO_OM_OPA_6 in ECC. Looking at the datasource, it mentions that it extracts the data using function module BWOMD_GET_ORDCSTA1. However when I try to use that function module, it requires an extract structure.
When I look at the datasource to see which extract structure the business content one uses, the field is blank as is the function module field.
My question is: Is it possible to use the same function module as the business content, or will I have to create my own? If it is possible, where can I find the extract structure that the business content uses?

hi,
for using the same Functional module u will have to copy the Function Group and
create a custom function group.Then u can go ahead and use the copy of this Function module.
Changing the standard function module will not be a wise move.

Use the MetaData Repository in RSA1 to get all details of the info Object through the Info Object Tab in metadata rep.

Transporting DataSources in (ECC) problem

Hi SCN,
Just wanted to ask if these are only the two important nodes when collecting and transporting an enhanced datasource?
I am currently transporting datasources from ECC DEV to ECC QAS. When reviewing my datasources in QAS, append structures were not transported.
- What I did here was to transport datasources from RSA6. I though it would carry all the changes made in the datasource but it was just the active datasources.
So I collected the datasources again in a new TR; collecting the requests only in one TR (as per discussions in SCN). First is re-activating the append structure; putting it in a new TR, then collecting the active datasource.
I am just having doubts if I am missing a step since the (Go To -> Object Directory Entry) is not letting me make a new transport inside the extract structure (double clicking the datasource; double clicking the extract structure; then object directory entry), thus, I am not able to collect the standard extract structure table (or is this because the datasource I am transporting is a standard one?).

I always thought that I need to collect it in one TR (Active datasource, Extract Structure and Table Structures). But, it was okay to have the append structure in another TR.
What I did was to transport the DataSource then followed by the append structure's TR. It's all good now.
