ECC Cluster Enqueue Replication Server

Hi Experts,
I installed SAP ECC EHP5 in a Windows Cluster Environment. I followed all the steps in the installation guide. When I execute the following command to check the status of the Enqueue Replication Server:
enqt.exe pf=<profile> 2
The following message appears:
Nr  Man UserName Name-- M -
Arg-- -UsVB-----
-Object- TCOD B
Entries in Backup-File...: 0
Instead of the following message:
Replication is enabled in server, repl. server is connectedReplication is active...
Do I miss any adittional configuration??
The trace file had this information:
trc file: "dev_eq_trc_7804", trc level: 1, release: "720"
Wed Oct 19 14:02:02 2011
Enqueue Info: enque/use_pfclock2 = FALSE
Enqueue Info: enque/use_pfclock2 = FALSE
Enqueue Info: enque/disable_replication = 0
Enqueue Info: replication enabled
Enqueue Info: enque/replication_dll not set
LstRestore: no old replication configured
I manually set enque/disable_replication parameter to 2 because previously was set in the instance profile in 0.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot.
Kind Regards

Hi Estaban,
The command is "ensmon" not "enqt". Check the example, below;
ensmon pf=<ERS profile> 2

  • Enqueue replication server does not terminate after failover

    Hi,
We are trying to setup high availability of enqueue server where in we have running enqueue server on node-A and ERS on node-B all the time.
Whenever enqueue is stopped on node-A, it automatically failovers on node-B but after replication of lock table, enqueue does not terminate the ERS running on node-B and as a result our enqueue and ERS both keeps running on the same host (Failover node-B) which should not be the case.
We havenu2019t configured polling in that scenario SAP note-1018968 depicts the same however this is applicable only for version-640 and 700.
Ideally when enqueue server switches to node-B, it should terminate the ERS on the same node after replication and then HA software would take care of its restart on node -A.
We have ERS running of version 701; could anyone please let me know if the same behaviour is common for 701 version as well?
Or there is any additional configuration to be done to make it working.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers !!!
    Ashish

    Hi Naveed,
Stopping ERS is suppose to be taken care by SAP only and not the HA software.
Once ERS stops on node -B there would be a fault reported and as a result HA software will restart the ERS on node A.
Please refer to a section of SAP Note 1018968 - 'Enqueue replication server does not terminate after failover'
"Therefore, the cluster software must only organise the restart of the replication server and does not need to do anything for the shutdown."
    Another blog about the same:
    http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/veritas-cluster-server-sap
    - After the successful lock table takeover, the Enqueue Replication Server will fault on this node (initiated by SAP). Veritas Cluster Server recognizes this failure and initiates a failover to a remaining node to create SAP Enqueue redundancy again. The Enqueue Replication Server will receive the complete Enqueue table from the Enqueue Server (SCS) and later Enqueue lock updates in a synchronous fashion.
So it is nothing about HA software, it is the SAP which should control ERS on node-B.
    Cheers !!!

  • Enqueue Replication Server - Lock Table Size

Note : I think I had posted it wrongly under ABAP Development, hence request moderator to kindly delete this post. Thanks
    Dear Experts,
If Enqueue Replication server is configured, can you tell me how to check the Lock Table size value, which we set using profile parameter enque/table_size.
If enque server is configured in the same host as CI, it can be checked using
ST02 --> Detail Analysis Menu --> Storage --> Shared Memory Detail --> Enque Table
As it is a Standalone Enqueue Server, I don't know where to check this value.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Hello,
I haven't worked on Standalone Enque server, however its worth checking help.sap.com for this.
I did a bit of search found that monitoring can be done via ensmon
Check this link, Monitoring standalone Enqueue Server.

  • Enqueue Replication Server Installation

    Hi Experts,
    I have EP7.0,SP14 (SR3),with IBM AIX,Oracle 10G.
I have installed SCS,DB in High Availability and CI,DI in standalone mode.My Setup has only JAVA Instance and NO ABAP Instance at all.Using HACMP Software for Failover scenario.
I am planning to have Enqueue Replication Server for High Availability solution.
But I could not find any information about the Installation of Enqueue Replication Server in the Master Guide taken for my environment. And the Master DVD doesnt have the Option of Installing Enqueue Replication Server like we had for MSCS-Enqueue replication server installation.
Can any one let me know how to proceed installing Enqueue Replication server?
I have seen this below link but no help:

  • MSCS H/A enqueue, replication and message servers services

    Hi,
I'm looking at the documentation about "Installation of multiple SAP Systems in MSCS: MSSQL Server" but I have a few questions about the SCS and ASCS process.
Are the process setup as generic cluster service?  Or are they SAP provided cluster services?
What monitoring is done with the the enqueue, replication and message server services in the cluster?

    Mike,
The SAPINST installer will install SCS and ASCS services into MSCS for you.  They are installed inside the SAP group in cluster.
The message servers, controlled by either SCS is HA with MSCS.  The enqueue services is HA with installation of ERS locally on both nodes.  SCS + ERS + ERS provides a triangular HA that means the services is always on and can withstand an cluster failover.  The cluster only controls the SCS service.  The ERS services are local to each server.
Let me know if I did not answer the question.

  • Enqueue replication service is not starting

    Hello Everyone,
We are running SAP Netweaver Portal NW7.2 SP6 on windows 2003 sp2 , microsoft cluster with two app servers.
We just did the upgrade from Nw 7.1 sp6 7.2 SP6  a month ago , and everything was ok :
Then yesterday , I realised the SAPSTARTSRV.exe file on these locations c:\windows\system32 & c:\windows\SAPcluster are old , then I copy this file from the O:\usr\sap\PIQ\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64 and remove the old files and replace them with these two files: SAPSTARTSRV.exe & SAPSTARTSRV.EXE.NEW
but after that SAPSID_XX service "enqueue replication service" that's located at D:\usr\sap\PIQ\ERS21\exe\sapstartsrv.exe" pf="D:\usr\sap\PIQ\ERS21\profile\START_ERS21_alfjepqon01a" is not start again
If I run it as a command in command line, I don't get any error but everytime I try to start the service , this is the error:
"The SAPSID_XX service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s)."
I try to create different service name with the same properties, but I've got the same error .
When I restart the server , I see below error:
"The SAPSID_XX service hung on starting"
meanwhile I see this warnimg in Application log , as well:
"Windows saved user Domain\SAPServiceSID registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.
This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account."
the User "Domain\SAPServiceSID" it's the user we are using to run the SAPSID_XX service.
Please let me know if you have any idea or suggestion.
    Thanks

    Hi Sunny,
Thanks for your reply,I just check this SAP note and follow their procedure to uninstall and install the service, but I've got the same error when I try to start the service
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks

  • Sybase replication server on HA / DR

    Hi Experts,
We are in the process of setting up DR environment for Sybase ASE using replication server. The primary site has an HA configured.
My doubt is when we need to install replication server at standby site, what host needs to be specified as the "primary system hostname" - The hostname of CI or the DB server.
Additionally, do we need to install replication server on both nodes of HA cluster? and how would the DR agent configuration work in case of DB failover to the CI node?
Unfortunately, there is very little documentation available online on how to setup the DR environment, apart from SAP note 1891560
Would appreciate your invaluable inputs on this.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Regards,
    Varun

    Hi Varun,
Sorry - I don't have any experience with the IBM solution.  So I have comments, but not a solution.
The HADR Solution will work well in HA / cluster systems where the IP address is dynamically re-assigned to the active node.  This allows the server configurations to point to just 'one' IP address and the cluster software (examples: MS Cluster, Veritas, HP Service Guard) assigns that IP to which ever node is active.
Using the IBM solution, (based on a quick Google search) it appears we rely on Open Server HA capability to include both addresses in the interfaces file under a single Server name, so that both address can be attempted when making a connection.
Unfortunately, the configurations created by the DR Agent do not support this type of configuration using Interfaces files.  Most server address are assigned a single IP address, and most address are assigned directly (not pointing to an Interfaces file entry).
As an example, when the HADR nodes are configured in ASE, you define the other nodes in the HADR group with a command like the following:
    sp_hadr_admin addserver, <node_name>,<server_name>
To use a interfaces file name for the server name, the command might look like:
    sp_hadr_admin addserver, 'D01_Site1', 'D01'
But the configurations created by the DR Agent use a host:port syntax instead of an interfaces file server name, like:
    sp_hadr_admin addserver, 'D01_Site1', 'host1.my.domain.corp:5001'
The point I am trying to make is that even if we edit the interfaces files to use the additional HA addresses, other configurations like the one above would need to be discovered and changed as well.
Unfortunately, even if all this reconfiguration work is accomplished successfully, the DR Agent itself does not use interfaces files and has no support for specifying an alternate HA address.  And I am not aware of any workaround for that limitation.
In summary, I think that short answer is that we don't have HADR support using DR Agent for HA environments without a dynamic IP address.  It might be possible to manually reconfigure some of it, but without support in the DR Agent itself, you would be missing failover and monitoring support the DR Agent provides.
Sorry that I do not have a more encouraging answer.
    Regards,
    Stephen

I get the same result when testing the connection setup with

    Background for this problem:
I'm trying to evaluate WLS6.0 clustering for my RMI services. I have two
machines setup with my test domain (DEdomain) and one cluster (DECluster)
    within it.
In administration server (machine A) I defined two servers to be run in
    machine A and machine B:

I'm going to bind a same service into these above servers of my DECluster.

In machine A I have administration server DEserver1 listening port 7001.
And for the domain and cluster building I followed all relevant e-docs
manual pages. It's still somewhat blurry what kind of preparations I have to
make in managed server side to join the domain; for example do I have to
have identical domain directory structure within machine B and do I have to
configure something with admin console or is everything handled by
connecting to the administation server and reading the domain's config.xml

It appears you had set the administration port & listen port on the admin
    server.
Logging onto admin server via admin port is broken currently. I wouldsuggest
you to set only listen port
    and see how that goes.

  • Active-Passive Failover cluster in Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
As per the client requirements, I build an active-passive Oracle 11g R2 database cluster in Windows Server 2008 R2.
(Used Microsoft cluster as Client don't have Fail Safe licence)
As per the configuration, I follow the below mentioned steps:
a)OS vendor configured Active-Passive Windows Cluster
b)Installed Oracle 11g R2 on both the nodes with same ORACLE_HOME name
c)Create Listener and configured it with cluster IP in Node1
d)Create Database from Node1. Physical files location are all in Storage
e)Create Oracle Service with the same name in the 2nd node and copy all the files like spfile,tnsnames.ora,listener.ora,password file to Node2
f)Configure Listener with the same Oracle SID.
g)Test database failover from Node2 with Listener registration
h)Open the Windows Failover Manager to configure the Oracle Database and Listener Service in the Cluster Group
Now I am facing problem by moving Cluster Group movement. Whenever trying to moving the group, Listerner service is not getting up by Cluster Manager as quorum is not included in the group and that quorum disk is not moving in the failover node with the Oracle Cluster Group. As per my understanding Quorum having information of Cluster IP which has been configured with Listener.
But when I am shutdown one node, then in the other node all the resources successfully moving and cluster able to online all the resources. I guess at that time Quorum is also moving and thus cluster can able to make Listener online.
Please suggest how to resolve this issue. Means how can I make Listener up instead having any dependencies with Quorum in the fail over node?
Thanks a lot for your help.

    hello
I was going through your post and i am also doing the same thing here at our organisation for Oracle 10g R2
Can you pls send me any docs u r having for configuration of Oracle in windows clusters .
And, can you pls elaborate on this point
e)Create Oracle Service with the same name in the 2nd node and copy all the files like spfile,tnsnames.ora,listener.ora,password file to Node2.
Pls send me the details at [email protected] or you can contact me at 08054641476.
    Thanks in advance.
