ECC connectivity with HANA

Hello Experts,
We are working on SAP R/3 system. Now client wants to move to SAP HANA. (connection with R/3 and HANA is done)
Currently, all the processing and queries are executed on R/3.
The requirement is to either execute the queries on HANA and display the data on R/3 continuing the existing system OR to execute the reports on HANA and display them on R/3.
I'm very new to this and have no clues about this.
Please suggest if this is feasible. If yes then kindly suggest how.
Any third party connector/extractor is required?
Kindly explain in details, the steps that we need to perform.

Hi Jitin ,
we have 3 types of replication methods in HANA to extract data from any kind of source.
1. Trrigger Based
2. ETL Based
3. Log Based
Go through below links once provide detail document which method to use for ecc systems ..

  • HANA Studio connection with HANA server in HANA One (Rev 56 and up)

    Dear HANA One Customers,
You must be aware of our latest HANA One release with HANA SP6 (blog: The specified item was not found. Once you launch a new instance using HANA One Rev 52.1, you can upgrade your instance to HANA Rev 56 or HANA Rev 62. You can do it in steps (Rev 52 -> Rev 56 -> Rev 62) or do directly (Rev 52 -> Rev 62). By the way, Rev 62 is the first HANA 1.0 SP6 release in HANA One. As we recommended, if you upgrade HANA Version to 56 or 62, please upgrade your HANA Studio and HANA Client to the corresponding version.
If you upgrade to either Rev 56 or Rev 62, you don't need to add any entry to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts to connect HANA Studio to use all the functionality of HANA Studio with HANA in cloud. While HANA One's add-on manager, upgrades. it makes a change in one configuration file (global.ini) for public_hostname_resolution.
However, if you change IP of your HANA One instance, you need to update this parameter which is described in the Quick Start Guide. The steps are summarized as:
In the Administration editor of HANA Studio,
Choose the Configuration tab. A list of all configuration files appears.
    Expand the global.ini configuration file
    Select the section public_hostname_resolution
Choose Next and enter the values map_hanaserver in the Key field and your IP or public DNS in the Value field.
For example, set the values as Key: map_hanaserver, Value: xx.xx.xx.xx if you use an IP address including an Elastic IP. If you use DNS as the value it could be ec2-xx-xx-xx-xx.compute-1.amazonaws.com
With this new feature, the same HANA Studio can connect to many HANA One instances at the same time which was not possible earlier prior to Rev 56.
    Thanks,
    Swapan

    Yes Aleksandr
    I think you are right.
After doing many installation of HANA Server in differrent AWS instances it didn't work for me.
But when I installed the HANA Studio on another machine with more RAM it worked.
I think we have to install HANA Studio on another AWS instance with 16 GB RAM to make it run smoothly.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Migrating Backend Database for BW and ECC with HANA

    Hi Guys,
I have been going through the blogs and its fantastic information but i couldnt find anything related to " how to migrate BW or ECC backend database with HANA DB. As per my information the HANA has its own DB which is called "IMDB", so if we have oracle or SQL server at the back end for BW or ECC , how can we migrate to HANA.
Plus are there any tools that are available for migration.
    Thanks In Advance.
    Sheikh Hassan Ayub

    First, let's be clear:
1/ Accordingly to announced SAP plans the ramp-up (restricted shipment) of BW-on-HANA installations will start on the 7th of November 2011.
2/ There are no firm plans for ECC-on-HANA availability yet - so this is out of scope for current discussion.
"IMDB" is the name from the past. Now HANA's database is called "HANA database" but you will still find references to "SAP In-memory DB" in documentation etc.
Migration of BW from let's say Oracle to HANA db will be following standard OS/DB migration process - similar to the way you would migrate Oracle DB to DB2: export of the source and then import to the target server. Exactly the same tools.

    Hi Expert,
We're on SAP Lumira 1.17 and I'm getting attached error when I'm connecting with EC 6 via Query with SQL. I've attached the error log. Can you someone please look into this , how can I resolve this error to connect with ECC.
    I'm trying

    Hi Antoine,
    Thanks for response.
Are you able to connect to this ECC system using either:
    - a SAP tool like SAP logon
    Yes, I can.
    - a BI tool like information design tool (if you have access to it)
Yes, I can access. I can also connect UNX universe which is built on ECC with Webi as well. It's only in Lumira which is not working.
-Can you try from SAP Lumira changing the language used?
Yes, I tried to change different language (US and UK both) but not working.
-As the base error from your log file raised from ECC is
This error log is generated from Lumira only.

  • DMO - ECC Migration to HANA, wrong Target DB SID was given

    Dear Experts,
I am migrating our ECC system to HANA DB, Currently the long running phase ACT_UPG is going on. During the configuration phase by mistake i have given Target DB SID as source system SID which is wrong , Target HANA DB SID is different. Would i be able to change this setting in upcoming phases ? Would system prompt me to change DB SID after failing to connect to the given SID ? , I tried looking for config file which is similar to keydb.xml to edit this, but i am not able to find such kind of config file.
Please advise, i am worried if i need to redo everything
    Thanks,
    Aravind

    Hi Jeena,
My last reply was logical assumption.
You have used DMO with SUM, at least one SP should be applied.
Refer: 1813548 - Database Migration Option (DMO) for Software Update Manager
If you are on 7.31 or 7.4  ---- your target can be 7.31 or 7.4 - your choice.

  • BarCode Reader Connection with sap

    HI,
Our client is using a bar code reader machine which is  build on pocket pc technology. Now they want that when  barcode on some item like a table is scaned by that machine its extra information will be read from sap asset master data. like to whom this table is belong.
Now is there any standard connector through which we can communicate between sap and bar code pocket pc.
    Thanks,

    Hi Szymon,
Please compare your settings with the "Administrator_Guide.pdf", chapter 7.3 Connecting SAP ERP to SAP Business One integration for SAP NetWeaver (page 44 -59).
In your B1i SLD entry for your second ECC connection, check segment RFCP:
The value in field "programID" must be unique for each ECC connection and equally maintained on ECC side (transaction SM59).
Please start the test connection in ECC (transaction SM59) and make sure, that you have an activated scenario in B1i with your ECC as sender system. Otherwise the RFCP test connection will fail.

    Hi,
From error looks like it is not failing at receiver determination step. if you all configurations are fine, then this could be because of system cache refresh.
Go to Edit mode in your scenario and again save it and activate it. Do a cache refresh and check if it works.

  • Source system connection with DW ?

    Hi
Could you plz let me know how to create a source sys connection with DW ?
I am quite familier with creating a source sys with ECC & flatfile but now with DB .
In my project , i hv to extract the data from DW system ..but i do not hv idea to create a source system with DW .
out Basis also do not hv idea to do that , so if you could help me with step by step source sys connection with DW , that would be gr8 help for me .
    Regards

    Hi,
A connection between a source system and a BW system consists of a sequence of individual links and settings that are made in both systems.
    · RFC connections
    · ALE settings
    ·     Partner profiles
    ·     Port
    ·     IDoc types
    ·     IDoc segments
    · BW settings
Read the following help on creating source system:

    http://help.sap.com/bestpractices/crossindustry/businessintelligence/v131/BBLibrary/documentation/B84_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc
check the following links which shows BI extraction and you will also get to know how to connect them.

  • Error in creating JCo connection with destination type'Load-Balanced Con'

    Hi,
I am working on webdynpro application(NW 04s), i need to connect with the backend system(ECC 6.0) using model.I configured my SLD and created technical system successfully.
The technical system got created with an error:
    CIM_ERR_ALREADY_EXISTS: Instance already exists: SAP_BCApplicationServer.CreationClassName="SAP_BCApplicationServer",Name="ID1.Number.01.HostName.ahsides"
But the system got created so I proceeded with Jco connection creation:
I need to create 2 Jco connections for this,
First with Data Type 'Application Data' & Destination Type 'Single-Server connection'. Second with Data Type 'Data Dictionary' & Destination type 'Load-balanced Connection'.
The first Jco with 'Single-Server connection' got created successfully and ping and test is also successfull.
The second Jco connection with 'Load-Balanced Connection' got created successfull but it is throwing error while pinging and testing.
Ping Error : Failed to ping JCo destination 'WD_EMPLOYEE_RFC_METADATA_DEST'.
    Test Error : com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) JCO_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: JCO.Client not connected in repository call
Please help me in this. This problem was with 'Load-Balanced Connection' only.

    Hi,
Have you taken a look at the file %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\services?
If you haven't, try and find the line sapms<sid>, where sid is de SID of the system you-re trying to reach.
If the line isn't there write it down like this.
    sapms<sid>     36<nr>/tcp
    That works for me.

  • External views with HANA as secundary database

    Hi,
internally we have since some time a discussion on whether one can make external views in ABAP when HANA is your secondary database. According to the documentation it is not possible, but apparently the HANA-versions of Financial transactions do use them. These transactions are SAP standard transactions. It is difficult to convince our users/developers that this is not possible, when they see it is used in SAP standard ...
We do not get any clear answer to this problem. Also not from our consultants. The only remaining possibility seems to sketch a possible solution and ask you all some questions and make some statements to see if I am right.
I think this little sketch shows the landscape you need to make all this possible:
One cannot create an external view in Ecipse (ABAP in …) when you have HANA as a secondary database.
External views can only be created using AIE, not in SE11 in the GUI.
When these external views are created – using the described process – these views cannot even be displayed in the AIE when having HANA as a secondary database.
This is the message we get:
If you want to create an external view, you need a ‘landscape’ where HANA is you primary database. This means a supplementary R/3-ABAP and a supplementary HANA database, where all necessary tables do exist.
You have to develop you HANA artefacts (attribute views, analytical views, calculation views, …) in this separate landscape.
If you want to call them using external views, you have to do your developments here!
Based on these views you create external views in the AIE on this separate landscape. This way they exist in the ABAP dictionary in this system.
The name of the HANA-artefact and the external view in the ABAP dictionary have to be identical.
You copy the HANA artefacts to you first HANA (where you use it as secondary database). Copy, transport, … whatever.
You copy/transport your external view to your first ABAP dictionary.
Now you can use it in a SELECT with CONNECTION(“to_2ndary_hana”).
Is this correct? Or do I still miss something?
    Thanks for any reaction.
    Regard.
    Kris

    Hi Kris,
except for "The name of the HANA-artefact and the external view in the ABAP dictionary have to be identical" all you points above are valid.
Let me say a couple of words about the external views, especially those delivered by SAP.
Assume you have a development system landscape like DEH (development system with HANA as primary DB), DEO (development system with another DB), QCS (quality system, doesn't matter which DB but receiving the consolidated transports of DEH and DEO), PDS (productive system with non-HANA as primary DB and a secondary DB connection to HANA).
In this heterogeneous landscape you can create HANA content in DEH (respectively in the HANA underlying DEH) and external views via the ABAP Development Tools. You can transport the HANA content (e.g. via the HANA Transport Container) as well as the external views (and database procedure proxies) to the QCS system. The dictionary content, i.e. external views and database procedure proxies are active - otherwise the import/activation will fail - but you cannot consume them. Consumption of external views in the QCS system will lead to runtime exceptions as the underlying HANA artefacts are not accessible. However, since all the dictionary content exists, i.e. external views, database procedures, and the HANA transport container and all of them are active, you can further transport them to the productive system PDS. Once the external view is available in PDS and the HANA artefacts are available in the "side-car HANA" (assuming for simplicity you just use the connection to the DEH HANA), you can consume the external view respectively the underlying HANA view via OpenSQL in conjunction with the CONNECTION statement.
The described procedure explains how SAP has been able to deliver external views. In our system landscape, we have development systems on HANA as well as systems using non-HANA as primary database - how exactly depends on the product etc. So once the colleagues developed their HANA views and created the external views on such a development system on HANA, we can deliver external views. You can consume these external views:
in a system using HANA as primary database (assuming of course you have also received the correct HANA content and everything has been activated properly)
in a system using HANA as secondary database and using the CONNECTION statement in Open SQL
In scenario 1. you are able to create external views yourself via the ABAP Development Tools, while in the second scenario you can neither view nor maintain the external view.
For database procedure proxies, there is a method to create the DB procedure proxies programatically (see http://scn.sap.com/thread/3498161).
    Hope this clarifies your questions,
    Cheers,
      Jasmin

  • Establishing initial connection with R/3.

    Hi all,
Here in my project we have BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0 versions. Now can anyone guide me, on  establishing connections with SAP server what things need to be done.
.i.e. Creating a BW system user in SAP and BW and then filling the RSADMINA table. Is this all or something more is required.
Moreover what values are to be filled in RSADMIN transaction.
If anyone has any document regarding this, kindly share at [email protected]
    Regards,
    Sudipto.

    Hi Edwin,
Thanks... The document is simply gr8. Though yet to actually implement it due to some Basis contraints, but it actually covers all that was required by me.

  • Linking of ECC vendor with SRM ROS supplier in EBP

    Hello,
How can we link manualy created ECC vendor with SRM ROS supplier in EBP, I dont have PI system.
    Thnks,
    Raju

Raju the link is established basically (if i talk purely technical) in table VENMAP.
    it has 3 fields...
    partner guid| logical_system| vendor number(in logical system)
    so here
partner_guid is the guid of the supplier in BUT000
log_sys is the logical system to which you want it to connect it to(in this case ECC logical system)
and vendor is the vendor number in that connecting logical system(means ecc vendor number)
    so this creates the link.
but which version of SRM and SUS are you using?

  • Connection with Netweaver and ECC6 how to??

    Hi SDNers
I am doing research at the possibilities of SAP Netweaver CE 7.1, I want to set up a small "Live Demo" where my netweaver is connected with my ECC6
For example, i made a process with some validations where i want to insert new employee data, like address Name, Last Name.
How can i connect with my ECC6 so that the data I fill in is saved in SAP, I don't have much experience with SAP, I know I need a web service to make the connection if I'm right, how can I make / generate the web service.
Can you give me some directions,
    Thanks
    Robin

    Robin,
at sender you can use Webservice or File or any source to provide data to PI..
    lets take
    Webservice -->SAP PI 7.1 -->ECC 6.0
At sender(Webservice )  you will use SOAP sender adapter  and reciever (ECC 6.0) you can use either RFC(Remote function call)  or ABAP Proxy..
to have communication between PI 7.1 and ECC6.0 you should have the following..
    RFC Connections in SAP PI7.1
SAP ECC6.0 -ABAP connection User: IDOC_BASIS
INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI- HTTP connection to ABAP system - user: PIISUSER
    INTEGRATION_SERVER - User: PIAPPLUSER
    LCRSAPRFC- TCP/IP
    RFC Connections in SAP ECC6.0
    SAP PI7.1 - ABAP connection - PIAPPLUSER
INTEGRATION_SERVER- Http connection to ABAP system- user: PIAPPLUSER

  • System Refresh with HANA & HANA live (side-car) data

In a scenario where HANA live co-exists with HANA DB (aka side-car approach), trying to understand the impact of system refreshes to HANA Live content. Is there a method to choose only HANA DB specific data for the refresh i.e. excluding HANA Live data?  If we use the backup/restore method to refresh QA from PROD  it will bring Prod data over for HANA Live too.  Is there a way to export QA HANA Live data prior to the refresh and re-import it post DB refresh?

Sorry I thought it was clear, let me explain.
HANA with SLT, is a replica copy of ECC tables. If you copy HANA Prod back to QA then SLT will no longer be operational.
You could re-enable SLT but you would have to re-initiate replication which would wipe out all the HANA tables, thereby making your system copy worthless.
If you don't re-enable SLT then you won't be able to do any testing or any table changes into QA.
So really there is no choice, you need to copy ERP Prod and HANA Prod, or just copy ERP Prod and re-initiate replication.
