    Instead of installing SQL server instance you selected add node which is to be selected when SQL server installation is to be made on Node which is being added to cluster. Since your OS is not clustered I am sure you selected worng option.
    Please right click on setup file and select run as administrator. Now installation window which pops up on that on left hand side select
    installation and then on page that appears select 'New server standalone installation or add feature to existing installation'.
    You already have SQL server 2008 installed on your machine as per feature discovery report

  • DPM 2010 installation failure (SQL-server Reporting Services Problem)

    Hi everyone,
    The last 2 days I have been trying to get DPM 2010 installed on a DC. I know this is not recommended, but for our company with the current setup it's the only way to do it.
    I have been reading some Microsoft articles (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399416.aspx) about doing this but I fail to do so.
    I have made all of the right service accounts (I guess) and am doing everything in the guide but still get the same error message over and over again:
    Setup has detected that the installation of Reporting Services is not correctly configured or no instance of Reporting Services is linked to DPM2010 of SQL Server
    I just can't get my head around it. This is the error message when I try to install DPM 2010 using an existing SQL-database which I have configured in the SQL 2008-server sp1 installation.
    I have enclosed some screenshots so you could maybe check some things that are not correct? Hopefully we can get this issue resolved, because it's driving me crazy to be honest!
    Physical server which is ADC and where I need to install SQL-server and DPM: VMBACKUP
    The service account for DPM is: DPMSQLSvcsAcct
    Also have another service account: DPMR$VMBACKUP
    I have also enclosed the error log located in C:\DPMLogs\

    This is the DOM error log:

  • Installation of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Mobile Sales 5.0 SP07

    Dear gurus,
    I have the following question for you: is it possible to run Mobile Sales 5.0 SP07 with SQL Server 2005 Exp Edition? The specifications that I have found for both applications are:
    - MOBILE CLIENT:
    Installation of Mobile Client with CRM release 5.0 requires the installation of Microsoft .NET framework 1.1. (OSS note 879643)
    - SQL Server Express Edition: Microsoft .NET framework 2. 0
    Has anyone installed it this way?
    Thank you in advance,
    Judit.

    Hello Judith,
    It is possible to have 5.0 SP07 Mobile Client installed on machine with SQL Server Express edition. For more information on this, you may refer the installation guide for 5.0 SP07 (Software Pre-requisites section, SQL Server versions). However, please note, you cannot install 5.0 SP07 Mobile Development Workstation on Express edition due to the large repository size.
    You may feel free to get back to me in case of any further concerns/comments.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Niranjan
    (Reward points will be appreciated if you feel this issue is resolved).

  • Is my installation of SQL Server Fail Over cluster correct?

    I made a 2 node SQL Server 2012 fail over cluster but having some problems during installation so I wanted to know if the steps below I performed are correct.
    Hardware
    Node1 192.168.1.10
    Node2 192.168.1.11
    Added following entries in DNS
    cluster.domain.local 192.168.1.12 (for Windows Cluster)
    msdtc.domain.local 192.168.1.13 (for MSDTC)
    sql.domain.local 192.168.1.14 (for SQL Server Cluster)
    Cluster Storage
    Disk1 (for Quorum)
    Disk2 (for MSDTC
    Disk3 (for SQL Server)
    Now comes the installation. I am performing all these steps as DOMAIN ADMIN.
    1. First I installed clustering role on both nodes
    2. Then I ran fail over validation wizard on Node1 adding both nodes which went fine (there were some warnings)
    3. Then I made a Windows Cluster on Node1 using these two nodes. I gave the name and IP to this cluster which I wrote above i.e. cluster.domain.local 192.168.1.12
    4. Cluster was created and boths nodes are UP.
    Now I want to ask a question here. Is it best practice to perform the above operation using DOMAIN ADMIN? Or if I use a standard domain user account with local admin rights, will it work? If not then exactly what rights are required to perform this operation.
    5. Then I installed "Application Server" role on both Node1 and Node2 and also added "Distributed Transaction" feature
    6. Then I right clicked on Windows Cluster I created and added a new role/feature which is "DTC"
    7. I gave it the same name which I wrote above i.e. msdtc.domain.local 192.168.1.13
    8. MSDTC was created but when it tried to UP its service, it threw an error. Upon investigation it turns out the Windows Cluster cluster.domain.local doesn't have proper rights to created some objects in AD. I didn't know what rights to give so I gave it full
    permission and after that when I created MSDTC again, the service went up fine.
    So I want to know what rights does cluster.domain.com require to make MSDTC?
    Am I doing good so far?

    Hello,
    >>Then I made a Windows Cluster on Node1 using these two nodes. I gave the name and IP to this cluster which I wrote above i.e. cluster.domain.local 192.168.1.10
    Hello I suppose this IP was physical node IP windows cluster IP was 192.168.1.12  I suppose yo must have given this IP as windows cluster IP.10 and 11 are physical nodes in Cluster but 12 is Cluster IP .Correct me if I am wrong.
    Did you do failover and failback to check whether cluster is configured correctly or not ,If not please do it .
    >>Then I ran fail over validation wizard on Node1 adding both nodes which went fine (there were some warnings)
    Please remove warnings also ,it might cause issue.Not sure its correct every time but make sure cluster validation should be free of error and warning.
    >>Now I want to ask a question here. Is it best practice to perform the above operation using DOMAIN ADMIN?
    You can do it with domain admin account as this is required to create Cluster NAme object(CNO) in domain and local account might not have that right so I would say its ok.
    >>I gave it the same name which I wrote above i.e. msdtc.domain.local
    192.168.1.11
    again this IP is node 2 IP how can you give it to MSDTC.Use below link for reference

  • PeopleSoft HRMS Installation (MS SQL Server 2005)

    Hello there,
    I am trying to install HRMS with database MS SQL Server 2005. I am running into few issues when i am trying to do PeopleSoft database installation through Database configuration wizard.
    The following is the error message :
    ERROR: Setup fails to connect to the SQL Server in the system. The error
    message is:
    Error in reading C:\HRMS9.0/log/mssqlversion.log
    Please make sure a SQL Server is running in the system. The minimum
    supported version is SQL Server 2000. Please click 'Back' to correct the

    I am getting the above error when Sql server is running and i could not find the above mentioned file in HRMS9.0/log.....
    Help Appreciated
    Thaank you

    Depending what you want to do with your database :
    1. a DEMO database, choose demo which contains data sample, use for training or dev database
    2. a SYS database, choose system which does not contains data sample, use for UAT and prod database
    3. a Peopletools system database, doesn't contains any application data (only Peopletools data), for some very specific usage like performance monitoring
    The character set is also depending what you are planning the language you want into. If only English, or only latin characters, then Western European would be a good choice.

  • Installation of SQL Server 2008 failing - Client Tools

    Hello,
    I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 Client Tools on a machine that already has SQL Server 2005 (Full install). I select "Client Tools Connectivity" "Client Tools Backwards Compatibility" "Client Tools SDK" and "SQL Client Connectivity SDK". During installation, I receive this error message "A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file E:\x86\setup\x86\sqlncli.msi". The installation then fails. Is the older version of sql native client interfering with the new install? Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!!
    -Theresa

    So I tried to reinstall missing features, but I was getting the same error message about the sqlncli.msi file. I tried executing it from the folder, but got the same error.
    When I went to remove the items that did get installed from Add or Remove Programs, I got the following error:
    "SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:
    No feature were uninstalled during the setup execution. The requested features may not be installed. Please review the summary.txt log for further details.
    Error code 0x84B30002"
    Not sure what to do..

  • Installation of SQL Server 2008 express edition

    I have successfully downloaded MS SQL Server 2008 Express. At the end of down loading I got message "Installation Successful". I may have mis-read the writing - it could be down-loading successful. The files are there in all program folder.
    I am not sure if I have done the installation. I do not see any exe file. I cannot use the server.
    How can I get to use it? How can I get connected to the Server?
    S.ZAMAN

    Hello,
    Verify you have installed SQL Server Express successfully using the following report:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/petersad/archive/2009/11/13/sql-server-2008-discovery-report.aspx
    If you did not install it then use the following post:
    http://www.sqlservergenius.com/sql-server-2008-express-windows-server-2003-2008-howto/
    Once you finish the installation, you need to enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes protocols to be able to get connected to SQL Server. Use the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191294(v=sql.100).aspx
    Now download SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) from the following link to be able to connect and manage the SQL Server Express you have installed.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7593
    Use “(local)\SQLEXPRESS” or computername\SQLEXPRESS as name of the server when connecting using
    SSMSE.
    Hope this helps.

  • Scripted installation of SQL Server 2014 Express

    Hi,
    We're trying to write a script that would automatically install a SQL Server Express 2014 (to simplify the deployment of an application).
    We've managed to install the software, setup most of the things, but now we are stuck trying to enable the TCP-IP protocol for the named instance that we have created.
    Here's the script we're using (took from MSDN):
    Import-Module "sqlps" -DisableNamechecking
    $smo = 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.'
    $wmi = new-object ($smo + 'Wmi.ManagedComputer').
    # List the object properties, including the instance names.
    $Wmi
    # Enable the TCP protocol on the default instance.
    $uri = "ManagedComputer[@Name='JOHN-PC']/ ServerInstance[@Name='DEMO']/ServerProtocol[@Name='Tcp']"
    $Tcp = $wmi.GetSmoObject($uri)
    $Tcp.IsEnabled = $false
    $Tcp.Alter()
    $Tcp
    The issue we have is that if we run it in a PowerShell (as administrator), the $Wmi object doesn't have the instances populated, therefore the script crashes at $wmi.GetSmoObject because the path is not correct.
    If we run the script with SqlPS (omitting the Import-Module), it works correctly without any issue.
    We would like to run the whole script through a "normal" PowerShell because the script we try to write installs SQL server, creates the instance, creates the DB and the structure, etc.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Michelle,
    Thanks for the answer. I've tried again with loading the assemblies and the module, still no luck.
    Here's what I tried with a freshly-started, in administrator, PowerShell (commands and results):
    C:\Windows\system32> [reflection.assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo")
    GAC Version Location
    True v2.0.50727 C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo\12.0.0.0__89845dcd8080cc91\Microsoft.SqlS.
    C:\Windows\system32> [reflection.assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlWmiManagement")
    GAC Version Location
    True v2.0.50727 C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlWmiManagement\12.0.0.0__89845dcd8080cc91\M.
    C:\Windows\system32> Import-Module "SQLASCMDLETS" -DisableNamechecking
    C:\Windows\system32> Import-Module "SQLPS" -DisableNamechecking
    SQLSERVER:\> $wmi = new-object ('Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Wmi.ManagedComputer')
    SQLSERVER:\> $wmi
    ConnectionSettings : Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Wmi.WmiConnectionInfo
    Services : {MSSQL$LSI, MSSQLSERVER, SQLAgent$LSI, SQLBrowser...}
    ClientProtocols : {np, sm, tcp}
    ServerInstances : {}
    ServerAliases : {}
    Urn : ManagedComputer[@Name='JOHN-PC']
    Name : JOHN-PC
    Properties : {}
    UserData :
    State : Existing
    As you can see, the `ServerInstances` collection is empty, meaning that the GetSmoObject will fail because the path is invalid.
    Now if I do the same in a SQL Server PowerShell (SQLPS.exe), here's the result:
    SQLSERVER:\> $wmi = new-object ('Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Wmi.ManagedComputer')
    SQLSERVER:\> $wmi
    ConnectionSettings : Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Wmi.WmiConnectionInfo
    Services : {MSSQL$LSI, MSSQLSERVER, SQLAgent$LSI, SQLBrowser...}
    ClientProtocols : {np, sm, tcp}
    ServerInstances : {DEMO, MSSQLSERVER}
    ServerAliases : {}
    Urn : ManagedComputer[@Name='JOHN-PC']
    Name : JOHN-PC
    Properties : {}
    UserData :
    State : Existing
    Same computer, same everything and you can see that here we have 2 instances, one called DEMO (the one I created in the script earlier) and one called MSSQLSERVER.
    I really don't get the reason behind that. We have a sort of workaround, calling SQLPS with the -Command parameter from the standard PowerShell, but it would be better if we could do it directly into the main script.
    Edit:
    As you asked, I also tried to do a `Get-Module --ListAvailable` just to make sure the module were indeed present.
    C:\Windows\system32> Get-Module -ListAvailable

  • Installation of SQL Server 2012 express on Windows 7

    Hi,
    When I try to install SQL Server 2012 express, I get the following error message:
    This SQL Server Setup media does not Support the language of the OS, or does not have the SQL Server English-language Version Installation Files. Use the matching language-specific SQL-Server Format and System locales through the regional Settings in the
    Control Panel.
    I tried changing the language via the Control Panel but it didn't help.
    What should I do?

    Hello,
    Please, you need to match the following operating system settings to the language of SQL Server (US English):
    (1) operating system user interface setting, (2) the operating system user locale setting and (3) the system locale setting.

  • Installation of SQL Server device client accesses

    Hello,
    Please help me out for the below query.
    Actually I don't have an idea of User & Device CAL Licenses. I joined newly in a company as SQL DBA but I don't know about the licensing part. So, In my present company they are having SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition with 5 SQL Device CAL's. I need
    to install device CAL's for the Developers. I had checked in Licensing details. So, it is showing 5 SQL Device CAL's. When I go to download it is showing many files and basically it is not showing the CAL application. I need to know which file exactly I should
    download and install. All applications are showing the same but it is not confirming about the device CAL Application.
    Kindly let me know which file I need to download and install and how to manage device cal licenses. I searched in internet a lot but I didn't found the correct answer.
    Thanks
