ECC5 Installation with Oracle 10.2.0.2.0

Dear Experts,
We want to do a Heterogenous Sytem Copy from our ECC5 system landscape on HP-Unix, Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 to win2003 (64 bit), Oracle 10.2.0.2.0.  Oracle version needs to be exactly same after migration as under this version our Production system will run for some time before we upgrade to ECC6 & Oracle 11G on Windows 2008.
The PAM says that ECC5 is supported with Oracle 10.2.0.2.0, though not sure if it's supported as a direct Installation to 10.2 or only as a Installation to Oracle 9.2 & followed by a upgrade to Oracle 10.2.  The migration media for ECC5 that we have recieved from SAP comes with Oracle 9.2, so wanted to check if a direct Installation of ECC5 on Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 is supported?. If yes is this Oracle Installation DVD for 10.2.0.2.0 downloadable from SMP?.
Thanks
Abhishek

Are you aware that you must have a certified migration consultant on-site to do the migration? see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration --> FAQ

What you need is not an ECC5 installation media but a new netweaver 2004 media containing the support for Oracle 10g, you'll have to do an R3load migration, backup/restore will not work (different endianess source vs. target).

  • SAP ECC6.0 installation with Oracle RAC

    Hi Expert,
Current we working on SAP ECC6.0 installation with Oracle 10G RAC on AIX 5.3. The RAC are running on two nodes (servers). And we are using GPFS filesystem (not running on HACMP).
Overall we had completed the Oracle RAC installation (CRS+RDBMS) and tested the oracle failover and it work find. Now we want to start with the SAP installation (with HA). In the SAP installation documentation, it did request to create a virtual hostname on the node and execute the sapinst scripts with below command line.
    #./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=ascs00
But if we are running on Oracle RAC + GPFS do we need to specify the virtual hostname? If not, which hostname i should use to install the HA for SAP?  Please advice.
    Regards.

And then I'd continue with the documentation at:
SAP on Oracle => SAP on Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
There you can find several installation guides for windows/UNIX/Linux

We are working in SAP Server installation with Oracle DB. After some steps in our Process it is asking for a DVD called RDBMS DVD CLIENT ORACLE. We are trying  to download in Service market place. But we could not  get the Correct DVD for the installation. Please help in this issue. Where do we get the DVD to continue our SAP Server installation.
We are struck with our SAP Server installation. Please consider this issue as very urgent.

    Hello Mohan,
Please specify which installation your are doing otherwise it is difficult to provide you
    the correct path.
For eg if you are doing NW04's installation then path will be
downloads->entry by application group->Installations and Upgrades->SAP NetWeaver-> SAP NETWEAVER-> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S->according to OS/DB (there is oracle client cd)select the cd.
    hope it helps..

  • SAP fresh installation with Oracle 11.2

    Dear all,
Do you know if it's already possible to install a new SAP system with Oracle 11.2.
I'm trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 ehp1 with Oracle 11.2.
The problem is that SAPINST does not give me the possibility to choose oracle version 11.2. Only 10.2 is possible. (I patched SAPINST to the last version)
If I select 10.2 SAPINST gives an error "The DB Home folder I:\oracle\PSM\112 has not the correct DB Server version 102. Select a different DB Home folder or install the correct database server software."
    Could anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Olivier

    Hello,
New installations of systems running with Oracle 11.2 are planned to be certified by early Q4 2010.
For key information on the status of Oracle 11.2 database, read SAP Notes 1398634 and 1434131.

  • Question about SAP installation with Oracle 10g

I have successfully installed Oracle 10g on Windows server 2008 R2 64bit. I can connect to the database using mysql or through command prompt and run SQL commands.
I started installing the SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ("51038620_13      BS 7 SR1 Installation Master Windows Server on x64 64bit") The installation goes very smooth. I choose the SAPSID and the DBSID sid, but then it gives an error stating to install oracle and continue or stop the installation & install Oracle. I have tried on continuing the installation since Oracle is already installed but I get the same message again and again.
Does it have to do with ORACLE 10g Sid. My Oracle SID is set to "ORCL" should it be the same as DBSID (during SAP Installation). Or the Oracle needs to be installed after SAP installation gets to the point for Oracle Installation. Please assist what needs to be changed. I can reinstall Oracle if needed. Any tips or comments would be nice.

You can't "change". You installed the Oracle software using "setup.exe" - which is wrong. You also created an example database - which is also not correct.
The Oracle software is installed, according to the installation guide, as
    - start "sapserver.cmd" on the Oracle DVD (the SAP media)
    - install the software according to the installation guide
    - install the latest patchset
    - install the latest PSU patch
    --> and then start sapinst.

  • P6 Professional 8.3 installation with Oracle Database

    Hi All,
I had query about P6 professional installtion.
If i select Driver type "Microsoft SQL Server" system is allowing me to enter "Host Name" of database server.
But if i select Driver type "Oracle" it is not asking for Host Name of database server.
If my database is present on other server how to give server name here?

    Hi,
This is down to a fundamental difference between SQL Server and Oracle.
SQL Server is pretty much always referenced with servername and database name (and the port number unless the \<instance name> is used as part of the server name)
Oracle uses more of an 'Alias' (TNS Names).
If you ever need to start working with Oracle DB Standard or Enterprise edition then you will soon learn to be configuring the tnsnames.ora file (which is where you will find the 'Alias' mapped to the server and database name).

  • OIM installation with Oracle db Standard Edition

The 11g version of OIM, OAM works with Oracle 11g db Enterprise Edition. Will these components work with Oracle db 11g Standard Edition ?
If this works then I am planning to use only for prototype purpose, where I can use a low end server.

    Thanks Thiago,
Looks like the Enterprise Edition is required only for OAAM. rest of the components like OAM, OIM, OID and OVD will work with Standard Edition. Is my assumption correct ?
    Thanks!
    Kabi
Followings are the extract from the certification matrix.
+. The Oracle databases listed in this column are supported on all configurations (including RAC) and platforms that the database team supports. Check Certify for details.+
+. Oracle recommends using latest Oracle DB PSU's. For latest recommended patch information, refer to https://support.oracle.com/+
+. For OAAM, Oracle recommends Oracle Database Enterprise Edition for production deployments.+

  • SAP BO Installation with Oracle Database

    Hello all,
My client uses SAP R/3 with Oracle database. Now we have to install Business Objects on another machine.
I've read the documentation on Installing Procedures but there are some questions still not clarified.
    1. Do I have to install Oracle in the new machine?
    2. If not, can I connect BOBJ to the database of the SAP R/3 Server?
    3. If I want to have three systems (Like in R/3, Productive, Tests and Development) do I have to install BOBJ in different machines?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards

    1. you dont have to insall Oracle database at the BO machine side, you just need any database to hold the BO repository.
    2. you cant connect directly using BO, only Crystal reports can connect directly to R3 database, you need to have a BW in between.
extract your data into the BW, and let BO connect to BW using the BO integration kit for SAP solutions.
    3. no you dont have to have 3 different machines, using one BO machine you connect to them all, but you may need build a  BO environment, (Development, Production servers)
    good luck

  • BOBI 4.1 SP2 installation with oracle database

    HI,
In our landscape, we have installed installed oracle 11g and we have installed BOBI 4.1 with oracle system user ID for both CMS and Audit. We havent create any separate schema for CMS and Audit database. It was runninf fine but recently we are facing lot of DB issues. Can anyone please help me to conclude whether we have to create separate schema for CMS and Audit or  we can user oracle system user ID for both CMS and Audit. Anyone help is highly appreciated. And also please suggest if we use the oracle system ID, whether we will face any issues in future or impacts.....
    Thanking you in anticipation.
    Obinna

    Hi,
technically it works with the System schemas. But this is far away from Best Practices!
The standart is to create a own User/Schema for the CMS DB and the Audit DB. The User gets full privileges on his Schema and you are fine.

  • Installation with Oracle 8i database and iAS8i

    Hi Everybody!!
I would like to install both oracle 8i and
iAS on standalone machine such Linux.
When I tried to that, I had a problem.
If there is anybody that already installed them on one machine successfully, Would you please tell me ?

I have them on one machine running RH7. I hope to upgrade to 8iR3 and IAS9i in the near future.
My system has both installations in separate directories with separate owners. It works fine (ie: rebooted when we have a power cut)

  • Problems of installation with Oracle WebDB

    Srs:
When i am installing Oracle WebDB, in the part when insert the SYS user password and TNS names Alias; i introduce for example: Sys password: bird and TNS names alias: webdb, but when clic OK, the program say that the SYS user password or TNS names alias is incorrect, but both sys and tns names is correct(in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin, i define my TNS names alias called webdb)
    Please help me...
P.D. I am running WebDB installation in character mode.

I just faced the same trouble. I'm installing
    WebDB 2.2 on a Solaris 7 server with oracle8i
installed already. What puzzled me most is
    that you must input a different/new ORACLE_HOME
while installing. You know, we have original
ORACLE_HOME for oracle8i. So WHICH ORACLE_HOME on earth it points to in the whole WebDB Installation Guide?
This question is very important because we
have two tnsnames.ora in both oracle home.
    Please give me your advice.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Installation with Oracle and Solaris 9

    Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to install EP 6.0 sp8 with WAS 6.40 (java) on a Oracle 9.2.0.4 DB and Solaris 9 OS.
I have installed this EP version with SQL/Win without problems, but now I have several errors.
Somebody has installed this successfully ?   Any clue would be helpful.
I have 2 errors by the moment:
    1) ERROR at line 1:
       ORA-00988: missing or invalid password(s)
       ORA-06512: at line 17
    2) Some problem related with network adapters (My server has 4 network adapters)
thanks a lot for your help !
    Regards from Mexico,
    Diego Hernández

    Hi Diego,
you should edit the /etc/hosts file.
Change the frontend ip adress to the servername and delete other entries for this ip adress(eg XXX-b,XXXX-c).
Start a new installation(even Database)->then you won't get different profile Startup Scripts.

  • Developer 6i Installation with Oracle 8i on Windows 2000 Server

    Hi Folks,
We are using Oracle 8i (8.1.7) with Developer 6i for the past 2-3 years. Oracle 8i is installed on Windows 2000 Server and the client machines have Developer 6i installed. Using the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility, the clients and the server are linked perfectly and we have never experienced any major issue regarding the connectivity from the client’s sides.
Now my question is that, is there any possibility that we can also install Developer 6i on the server, ‘cause we have tried this several times and every time after installing Developer 6i on the server, the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility does not invokes and obviously we are unable to use any of the Developer 6i products and moreover after installing Developer the already installed 8i Database does not gets mounted and we are also unable to use the database.
Are we missing some basic stuff here or do we need to run some patch for Windows 2000 Server?
Another thing, all our forms and reports are residing on client’s hard disks; can we also have the option that the forms and reports should also reside on the server so that we can easily update our forms and reports definitions from the server side?
    TIA
    Hassan

    Hi,
Yeah, I installed both the products i.e, database and developer in separate directories.
