Echo audio effect on video clips

I'm trying to add an echo effect on the audio that lasts longer that the video clip.  For example, If a person says "moment in time" at the clip ends, how can I extend the last word like "time" to echo past the video clip?  I understand how to add effects to audio but once the video clip in finished, so is the audio.  I'd like to extend the echo past the video clip.
I hope I'm explaining this properly.  Is this a Soundtrack Pro question?

Here is one way to do it:
Edit a couple of seconds of Slug after the end of the video/audio clip that you want to add echo to. You can trim this off later, after you get your effect set.
Next, select both the clip you want to add echo to and the Slug you added right after it so that both are highlighted (selected). Now type Option + C to Nest the two clips into a single unit.
Now you can apply your effect to the Nest you made and have space to have the audio echo. If you need to make adjustments to contents of the nest, just double click on it.

You can do that in FCPX too, as all the things you cited are listed separately in the inspector.
Here's a little gotcha. Let's say you've color corrected a few clips and you've applied an effect to one and want to paste it the other clips. You switch off color correction and copy the clip. You select the other clips and paste effects. What do you think happens? The effect is applied, but the color correction is applied as well, only it's switched off as it was in the first clip, so all the color correction on the other clips is lost. Fun, eh?
I'll try to replicate your gotcha - but no, that doesn't sound like fun at all!

  • How do I mute the audio of a video clip in PS 6

I have video clips on several layers in the timeline and want to mute the audio of specific video clips - they are on video lines, not the audio line

an interesting development as I proceed with the video. I guess I'm missing an integral concept here. It appears that some of my cideo clips import into the project and the segments have a blue color. These offer an option to fade in or out the audio, to mute the audio or adjust the volume.
Other vidoe clips import purple, like the still image files, and hence these do not offer any audio options, just motion objects.
So, what am I doing wrong? Why do some video clips import (purple) as image files?

  • Replace audio in multiple video clips at one time

Hello. I am new to the forum so I apologize if I break any of the rules!
I have a collection of tutorial videos, all edited but the audio had some balance issues. The files were not in Premiere Pro at the time. They are the final edited videos but then I was told the audio needed to be adjusted.
I have re-balanced the audio, saved the audio as wav files and now I need to replace the old audio (in the finished video file) with the new audio (the wav files I edited and saved). The timing is all the same. It's just a matter of replacing the current file.
Is this doable as a batch process? Is it doable in Premiere Pro or do I need to use Audition or some other Adobe software?
    I hope this makes sense.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Trying to combine audio from a video clip with a photo

Is there a way to allow the audio of a video clip to continue, while the visual is changed? I'm trying to insert a photo to replace the last few seconds of a video as the song in the video finishes.

Not at the moment. Hopefully at some point they will add a feature to independently trim the audio and video to allow this type of edit, otherwise known as an L cut.

  • On iMovie how can you mute a section of the sound track so you can hear the audio from the video clip?

    .

    Hey,
If you double-click on the soundtrack you can open it up in the inspector tab and lower the soundtrack so that you can hear the audio from the video clip.
A great resource for finding answers to questions like this is http://www.imovietutorialhelp.com
You can ask questions just like these and they will be answered for you. If you need a tutorial video made or anything like that, you can go there as well and ask for a video to made as well. Check it out.
If you still have questions on how to do this, they can help you for sure.

  • How to extract audio from a video clip

I am editting a video, and I need to extract the audio from a video clip. On the old iMovie it was really easy, all you had to do was press apple K I think. Thanks in advanced for your help.

Select the clip in the sequence.
Then command-L to unlink the clips.
Then select the audio and delete.
    As a suggestion, two things:
    1. Explain what you want to do. If it is delete the audio, then that is different than extracting the audio;
    2. Do a search in the pdf manual in the help manual

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
In the absence of that information, I will generalize.
    1. You right click a copy of the Timeline file with the video and audio linked and then select Delete Video from the pop up.
    2. Then you drag your Still Image to the Timeline and align it with your audio file.
You can leave that still audio positioning as is or "Group" the two so that they move together (if you want to move them together).
For that, select/highlight the still and audio portions (hold down Shift and click video portion and then audio portion), right click in the selection, and select Clip Menu/Group from the pop up.
Please let us know if that generalized answer works for you. If not, more details please.

  • Audio portion of Video clips offset

I have a large FCE project with a mixture of video clips and still photos. Most of the processing that I do consists of working with the still photos, such as Ken Burns effect, changing the length of the still photos to conform to voice-over files and so on.
After working with a particular sequence for awhile, about 20 minutes into a 30 minute sequence, I notice that all of the video clips have the audio portion out of sync by exactly 2 seconds.
What can cause this problem, how can I fix it, and what should I do to prevent this from happening again?

Hi David, thanks for the response.
Actually, it wasn’t a case of a few un-linked clips being moved inadvertently. All 20 video clips at the end of the sequence were exactly 2 seconds out of sync. None of the clips prior to those were out of sync. I have no idea how that could have happened, especially only to those beyond the point in the timeline where I was working.
I am normally aware of the 2 menu items: Modify/Link (Command + L) and Edit/Linked Selection (Shift + L). I sometimes use the first to unlink a single clip in order to delete the audio portion. The second menu item, which unlinks all of the clips has the potential to be dangerous and I almost never use it purposely. However, in this case, I used it to fix the problem (I think). What I did was do Shift + L to unlink everything. I then changed the scale of the timeline to so that I could see all of the unlinked audio clips so I could select them together, then moved them exactly 2 seconds to the right so that they now lined up with the video. I then did another Shift + L to relink everything and finished with a Save.
The first time I tried to do as explained above, it didn’t work. The clips were lined up but FCE was still indicating 2 seconds out of sync. After that, I posted my question. While waiting for a response, I tried it again. I have no idea why it worked the second time.

  • Is there a way to separate audio from a video clip in iMovie HD?

    iMovie 6.0.4
Sorry if this has been answered before.
Is there any way to edit audio within iMovie? What I mean is, importing an audio file but then editing and separating the audio file into smaller pieces. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any help, much appreciated!

Edit the same as you would a video clip. Highlight the audio clip by clicking on it, then select the place you want to edit it with the playhead, go to EDIT and select Split Audio Clip at Playhead.

  • How to extend audio from a video clip over an adjacent still image

I'm in iMovie 11.  My project looks like this: video A, transition, still image B, transition, video C.  I want the sound from video C to start playing while still image B is on the screen.  I tried following the iMovie 11 help instructions for extending a video clip's audio.  I click on video C and open the precision editor.  From there I can grab video C and move it back so that it overlaps with the still image, but all that happens is the still image still shows up, without sound, and video clip C starts in the middle.  The help instructions seem to indicate that I should be able to drag only the audio and make that overlap the still image, but it's not happening.  Either the video and audio move together, or nothing moves.
When I try detatching video C from its audio, I just end up with a big mess because later the audio and video don't synch up.
    What am I doing wrong?

I am having the same challenge... any tips here would help me out in a big way. I recorded my boss tdoing a training session and now I would like to have the powerpoint slides change as necessary - but I want the audio to remain. I would love to just get the slides to change rather than back to full before bringing up the next slide. Jim, if you come up with anything, let me know. I have VC2 pro.

  • Video editing 'special effects': can you apply a fast/slow motion effect to video clips?

I haven't been able to find a way to create the effects of fast or slow motion in the video clips. Is there a way to do this? If not, please consider adding it in the full version - I use these effects alot when editing videos.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
When working with a video layer (clip) in the Timeline panel, either 1.) Context-click on the selected clip (right-click or ctrl-click for mac) or 2.) Click on the flyout button located at the top right corner of the clip.
The "Speed" option should show up in the flyout menu.  This is only available for video layers.  If you're working with still or smart objects the speed option is not available.

In the absence of that information, I will generalize.
If you want one sound to dominate over the other automatically, then consider the Smart Mix feature where you can
    set a "foreground" and "background"
Use the program's audio mixer feature.
Please review the Adobe document on volume adjustments

  • Batch processing audio for separate video clips?

Hi there, new to the forums. I have roughly 100 separate video clips that either I have edited and exported out of PPro or collected from other outside sources. The video clips were recorded in a wide range of environments, producing widely varied audio levels and sound quality. The videos are for a blog.
I am hoping to create a batch process preset in Premiere Pro or Audition to normalize the audio in all of the video clips. My goal is to have the audio play back at the same volume level in all of them without having to edit the audio individually in each clip. I have been searching the forums for a while for help with a batch process solution like this. Running CS6 so have full access to all Adobe apps.
I have played around with running the clip audio through batch processing in Adobe Audition CS6. Haven't had any success thus far -- the audio doesn't save within the same video file it was pulled into Audition from. I really would like to normalize the audio without having to re-import/-re-export each separate video.
PPro group might be the wrong place to start, but figured I would start here. Is there a missing manual out there for doing something that seems relatively simple?

Premiere Pro can't do this.  If Audition can't either, then you're probably stuck doing it manually.  Or at least, using non-Adobe software.  Possibly VirtualDub, depending on your source media.
