Echo in audio

I have uploaded a project from Captivate to Youtube and when I play the video the audio echo. Do anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

The re-record filter. Seriously, though, there are a few things to try, but don't expect too much. An expander will soften the sound further below a threshold level, so you can try that. You have to be very careful with the threshold, so you don't cut off any word endings, though. Some EQ can help, depending on the material. There's also a transient designer type of effect, and theoretically, reducing the sustain can help in that effect, but I've never had much luck with that on the voice.
Ultimately, this is the kind of thing that you have to get right in the recording stage, for it to really sound right. As you're about to find out, it's really hard to darn near impossible to fix this particular problem in post.
Good luck!

  • Echo Audiofire Audio Interface with Boot Camp

Has anybody tried to use an Echo Audiofire audio interface in Windows Vista 32bit on a Macbook Pro using Boot Camp? I'd be very interested in hearing any comments on this combination. I think there might be an issue with either the MBP Texas Instruments firewire drivers for Vista, or with the Audiofire drivers for Vista. I get lots of crackling and popping, no matter what buffer sizes I use on this interface. In OS X, the Audiofire works flawlessly on the same computer, so I'm sure it's a driver issue (since it seems to work fine on other Vista computers).
Does boot camp include Texas Instruments firewire drivers? Or is this included in Vista itself?
I'm also interested in hearing about any experiences with Audiofire in Windows XP on MBP Boot Camp.

I was also suspecting something like this in the beginning, but in fact, microsoft has completely removed the support for IP over 1394 in Vista (see http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/bus/1394/IP_1394.mspx).
I wonder if there's anything else hogging the FireWire bus. There are no other devices present though.

  • Echo in audio of audio books?

Hi I'm new to the iPod but I must be doing something wrong.
My podcasts, video podcasts, TV shows and music all sound perfect! I downloaded two audio books "Nightfall" by Nelson Demille and "Hitchkickers Guide". Both of these have an echo when I play them back. I've tried three different headsets and the problem is still there. When I play the audiobooks from the ipod through my iMac they sound perfect through all the headsets and speakers.
Do I have a problem with the pod or me?!
    Any suggestions or insights welcome!

I had this as well and fixed it by changing the audiobook "speed".
    Trying the following:
from main menu select: Settings -> Audiobooks -> and change it to Normal.
I had it set to Slow and there was an echo, but went away when I changed it to Normal.
    Hope this helps.

  • Echo in audio! Need help!!

Hello, I am using Audition for audio recording and its going great except for one thing, there is a little echo, little but very noticeable, in my audio. I was wondering if there was a way to remove the echo or prevent the echo. I could really use the help.

This might be happening because you have enabled record monitoring in the Windows Recording Mixer.  Right-click on the speaker icon on the taskbar, then select 'Recording devices'.  Double-click the recording device icon you want to use, then select the 'Listen' tab.  Make sure that the check box 'Listen to this device' is clear.  I've been caught out by this ...... too many times!
    Pete.

  • Why is there an Echo in audio/music playback?

Out of the blue today all audio playback, specifically in music the vocals are producing an echo and sound "softer" than the bass/instruments.
I have tried restarting my macbook pro 13" retina
Disconnecting and reconnecting my Belkin bluetooth receiver
Disconnecting and reconnecting while turning on and off the Coby speakers
Even switched outlets in case it wasn't getting enough "juice."
Now my laptop internal speakers are also being affected by this, any suggestions?

It may be the audio encoding of the file. (See Media formats supported by the HTML audio and video elements - HTML | MDN for an overview of supported codecs per browser.) MP4 should generally be safe. Since the video plays fine in IE and Chrome, I suspect this is a browser issue. I would advise you to also take this up with the producer of the video. Perhaps they have some futher insights.
    Kind regards,
    Willam

  • Echo in audio from movie.

I have recently downloaded a movie as an .mp4 and when I play it through quicktime or itunes there is a strong echo and the audio is shallow. When I play it through VLC there is no problem and the audio sounds great. My problem is i want to play it on my iPad and i need to know what format setting i need to adjust. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

    radodrill,
It's always difficult to troubleshoot equipment I don't have. But the manual for your Videomate (p27) says that newer Compro TV cards "have PCI audio feature which enables audio through the PCI interface." As best I can tell, this is enabled by selecting "By PCI Audio" in the System Device in "Settings of ComproPVR." If you have that option, you probably want to disable this so that the Videomate uses the cable and does not transmit over the bus.Message Edited by Katman on 03-0-200602:47 PM

  • Strange echo on audio playback QT 10.1

Hi there.  i have been making backup QT movies of a whole bunch of Beta SP tapes using an AJA Ki Pro to record ProRes 422 files.  I have used QT7pro to trim these movies and add metadata.  Played back on QT7 (7.6.6) they sound find but playing the same movie on QT player 10.1 there is an echo on the audio as if one track has been knocked back about 6 or 7 frames.   Using QT7 to set Ch1 and 2 to mono or stereo makes no difference, just spaces the echo out.
any help much appreciated having just finished about 30 hours of material!    Cheers Phil

I've got the same issue. Here's my post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4294610
    Still no reply for me.
However, I found that the problem occurs when the two chanels are on two different tracks (sorry for the french...):
PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 1 canaux, 48000 Hz
PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 1 canaux, 48000 Hz
But works well when the 2 channels are on the same track, like this:
PCM linéaire, 16 bit petit boutien entier signé, 2 canaux, 48000 Hz
Also, check your videos in NicePlayer... Works fine for me...
    Hope this help...

  • Removing echo in audio

Hi Everyone, I'm using fcp 7 , I did a interview in a church and there is an echo sound in the audio, what audio filter can I use to lessen it? Thx!

In my 15 years as a sound editor (before computers) I learned a very odd trick, but it requires an acoustically pristine room. Set up a speaker and a microphone about a foot apart, each the best and flattest you can get your hands on. now get a bath towel and get it nice and damp-- not soggy, and hang it between the mike and speaker. play the audio out of the speaker and rerecord. Mess around with placement. you can knock down the echo considerably, but depending on how "bouncy" the original room was, you will never eradicate it. And if the towel is too wet, you'll muddy up the primary.
you might think I'm kidding, but I'm not. Do however keep in mind that this is a last ditch effort when all else has failed. Easier to reshoot. Take along an audio engineer; they can be worth their weight in gold.

  • Removing echo from audio track.

    Hi
I have audio recorded in a church which sounds great apart from the echo on it. Im at a loss as to which filter, if any will help remove it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Many Thanks
    Adrian

You may be able to reduce the level of echo by using a noise gate; the results will depend upon the nature and level of echo and also other background noise, but some reduction may be possible. Don't be too agreesive in the setting of noise reduction otherwise it will be very obvious that you are gating the sound and you will end up hearing the background sound coming and going as quite often heard on less well processed movies and tv productions.

  • Adding echo to audio in iMovie

Is it possible to add an echo effect to the audio tracks in iMovie?

Yes, sort of like a reverb effect?
One way that comes to mind is to select the clip you want to add the echo. If you only want to apply it to part of the clip, then split the clip as needed to get a single clip with the one part you want to echo.
Now select that clip and use the Extract Audio command. This command will create a copy of the audio in the clip, paste it on the timeline under the clip, and mute the audio in the original video clip. So right now there is no difference if you play the clip.
To create your echo, simply un-mute the audio in the original video clip. Then grab the extracted audio below and drag it to shift it slightly. The more shift the more pronounced the echo. You can copy and paste the extracted audio if you need to create additional echos.
Also keep in mind that the original video audio and the extracted audio are at 100% volume, so that clip will play at double volume. So you may need to go back in and 50% both clips or maybe the original clip at 80% and the extracted at 20% to make the echo faint. You get the idea. Goof around with it until you find something that works.
    Have fun,
    Patrick

  • Voice "echo" in audio books

    howdy apple fans!
    here is my issue...
in listening to my audio books the voice has, what i can best describe as, an echo. the "echo" is close enough to the word it repeats that i can still understand the context of the words being spoken but it is distracting to listen to.
any thoughts out there on how to fix this?
    thanks!

  • Echo/sustain audio - how to?

Hi everyone.  How can I make a beat/note of a song echo/sustain and trail off while the rest of the song continues?  I've looked at the audio filters included in FCP X and some seem like they should work, but I can't figure it out.  Thanks!

    Hi there,
try joining the javasound interest group and looking through the backlog of hints and tips that have been given over the years. I knew nothing about MIDI using java when I first wenr there a year or so ago, and now I've done proper MidiSequencer apps.
Sorry i can't answer your Q myself... sounds neat though. ;-)

  • Echo-ey Audio not caused by nearness of mic to speakers

I"m trying to record an audio chat for a podcast on iPhone gaming. I keep getting echo-ey bounceback on my own voice. In other words, when I talk, I hear a bounceback from the other side, almost as if my friend has his external speakers on. Which he doesn't. We both are using a regular microphone (mine's attached through a pre-amp to the iMac via USB) and headphones. He hears his own bounceback, but not mine.
This is the article I found on the topic, and it doesn't seem relevant, even though we tried these steps, too: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306888
Have any ideas as to what's causing this?

What is the delay in what he hears ?
The Doc you just looked at would be about a 1 to 2 sec delay in hearing his own voice come back from your end.
As you have headphones this would seem unlikely.
Therefore we are looking at the preamp and other Audio issues
Is the Preamp though a Hub to be USB (Keyboard or Screen count) ?
Does it go away if connected directly to the Mac ? (I now it is an iMac combined screen and computer - don't count this)
This Preamp is not connected to the Output in anyway ?
Does it also appear in System Preferences > Sound > Output ?
    If so deselect it here.

  • How to fix echoes in audio?

I shot some HD footage and when I got to Premiere Pro CS3 I can hear the echoes from the room I shot in. Is there anyway to fix this in Soundbooth CS3??
    Thanks

i have recorded a panel discussion using the house sound.  there was a hum which i removed using Audition Noise Reduction (process) filter.  now there is a slight echo.  i have uploaded 40 seconds (20 sec original & 20 sec filter applied) sample.

Any suggestions to correct in Audition will be appreciated.
Start again, and use different tools. The hum is constant, and should be removed with the notch filter, although it's difficult to catch all of it because it reaches right up to over 1kz. Notching out the lower harmonics works okay, but you might need the NR to get the higher bits. The less work it has to do though, the better.
Most of the reverb is on one channel only (camera mic?) - so use just the other one, and have this across both stereo channels. The speaker is central and isn't a stereo source, so that will be fine. If you want stereo atmos, then pinch a bit from elsewhere and mix it into the background - nobody will know!
Even just using Audition 1.5 on this machine, I can get a much better result than you've got - I'll post a sample later.
