Echo in playback only

I am currently working on a project and fcp freaked out on me a bit and now I am getting echo in my audio that is about 30 or 40 frames behind and much lower in pitch than my normal audio.
If I export and sometimes if I stop the sequence playback and start again, the audio will return to normal and then 30 or 40 frames later echo again.
Literally have no idea what is going on. Captured audio is fine, exported audio is fine just when I am playing back in fcp trying to edit footage?
Any help would be welcome!!

30 or 40 frames is over a second of audio. Are you sure it's a full second + behind? It's easy to exaggerate in this area, I do it all the time. The reason being is, I'm wondering if you still have your camera hooked up via Firewire, and View External Frames is ON. You would be hearing the playback through your computer speakers AND through any speaker your camera has. This would cause probably a 5 or 10 frame offset (although that number is not precise.)

My movies and TV shows are successfully downloaded from iTUNES and successfully synched to my iPOD, however, when I attempt to playback on my iPOD, I can only hear the content and not see it. The only thing I see is the movie album cover and the name of the movie and that is all. Any suggestions are appreciated.
    thanks.

On the menu of your iPod go to Videos> Video Settings> and turn TV Out to off. Hopefully this will help.

If I understand you right you can see the menu and everything else but only video material is not visible, right?

  • Premiere Elements 9 - Playback only works on Admin account

Hi, I'm running Premiere Elements on a couple of iMacs 2.93GHz, Core i7, 8GB RAM, OSX 10.6.8. This is in a library so we have student accounts on all of our machines. Under the admin account Premiere works fine, no crashing and playback is working. However, on the student side whenever the same clip is trying to be played the playhead does not move, it sticks on the first frame and there is no audio. The only visible difference is that the play icon changes to pause. I was wondering if anyone would know a good way around this. I have tried the 9.01 patch to no success. It seems that the student side does not have permissions to some component. Hoping someone could shed some light on this issue. Thanks in advance.

  • I am trying to access a website with everyday videos, but there is no image playback, only sound.

When i am trying to access the web page, everything goes smooth, but when I get to the video playback, it doesn't show any image, you can only hear the sound playback of the video. I accessed this web site with other web browsers, and it worked just fine, with both image and audio playback. From the same web site, sometimes videos work, but that is very rare, and I don't know what determines this kind of behavior.

  • Echo during Playback

We have imported mp3 files into Captivate 1 and now into 2.
In some cases, when we playback the audio, it sounds like an echo.
Yesterday, it was not hapening but today, it is now happening when
I preview the show. Also, it happens whether I have published or
    not. Any ideas?
    Eric

No way to know your setup, but....
Double-check sound card options; be sure that any record
"what you hear" modes are not engaged. Depending on your setup, the
audio may be getting pollution from coming back into the soundcard
from another input used for monitoring or who knows what. If the
signal is going out and coming back in, that can introduce slight
delay or latency which is "echo"
The file is fine I'm sure, it's the routing/mixer that is
    causing the problem.

  • Playback only in one speaker

I'm making a garageband project right now when all of a sudden, the playback is only playing through the right speaker and none in the left. Whenever I create an AAC of the file, it only plays back in the right speaker. My left speaker isnt broken, it works just fine with any other audio. All of the tracks are panned directly in the middle and was recorded that way, so I have no idea what I've done wrong or how to fix that problem. Can anyone help me? (Also, they are all software intrustment tracks)

  • Iphone 3gs, audio echo on playback but ok on my computer, all other audio on ipod ok.

My Iphone 3gs ipod has an echo when I playback 2 different audio downloads, these play without echo on my computer, all other audio on iphone ipod are ok.

Never mind, after two hours searching I found the answer to my question. Adjusted the playback speed, I thought that was the problem but didn't know where to adjust it. FYI - now playing screen (don't know what to call it), to the right and below the progress bar there is a little box that has a number and an x in it this is the playback speed. Hope this helps any other novice out there. If there is no gray area at the top of the now playing screen with progress bar touch your screen and it should show up.

  • Playback only stutters in preview screen, not full screen.

Brand new iMac 5k, maxed processor and graphics driver, and loaded up with 32gb of ram. Files live on internal 1tb drive. Originally 1080p 30fps MP4 with h.264 codec. Have created proxy, have optimized, have used compressor to switch to prores format. The files play, freezes, then plays again and freezes. Occasionally I get a dropped frame alert when playing on timeline or when previewing original file. Files do not stutter when doing full screen playback! I have turned on and off background rendering also. This is my first foray into FCPX so any help is appreciated. Timeline is set to match the frame rate of clips when I load it in. Beta testing the new Yosemite, could that be it?

Same here. I sent feedback to Apple since this stuttering didn't occur for me before the beta. I suggest you do the same.

  • Playback only working for audio / nothing on screen or MXO-ACD external?

Last week I finished hooking up the MXO to my external 23"ACD. Everything was great; footage playing in the timeline appeared on the external display; footage in the viewer played on the external monitor.
Today I load some additional HD footage and the external monitor is black - plus when I try to playback, even within my primary display, audio is playing but video is not.
External is set to MXO uncompressed 1920x1080 23.98fps RBG; source is Sony EX1 with same res and speed. Even the footage I loaded last week will not play in FCP now.
I'm hoping there is some stupid thing I did that is easy to correct! But I'm not aware of doing anything to the setup from last week.

the solution: You must have "mirror on desktop" enabled in settings. Even though this normally results in a simple passthru of the DVI image, when the external monitor is connected thru the MXO, you get the full proc amp / color calibrated image.
Yes, all the other settings have to match the footage, but that's not the hard part. This setting was a bit counter-intuitive, let's say.

  • Full screen Playback only on Main Display

I noticed that after upgrading to Lion quicktime player won't play movies full screen on my second display.  Under Snow Leopard if the quicktime window was on the second display and you hit full screen it would fill the display is was on.  Now the video slides to the main display and then goes full screen.  There doesn't seem to be any way to change that behavior.  There are no preferences.
The only work around is to move the menu bar in the display preferences to the second menu, so that the second monitor becomes the main one.
Any solutions or terminal commands I make to set it back to the old way?

This issue seems to be related to Lion's "Full Screen App" mode in Lion, where a window that goes to full screen creates a separate Space, and it always uses the "primary" screen (the one with Menu Bar).  So it's the same as making a Safari window go to full screen; it always uses the screen with the Menu Bar.
But I did noticed something interesting.  If it's a video that can play in iTunes (instead of using QuickTime Player), then you can make it play full screen on the other screen.  Play the video in iTunes so that it plays in a separate window.  Move the window to the secondary screen (the one without Menu Bar), and make it go full screen.  It plays at full screen on that screen.
So it is possible, but Apple has not done it for QuickTime Player.  You should send Apple feedback to request the same functionality for QuickTime Player, like I did.
Also, VLC Player (third-party video player app) still uses the "old school" way of doing full screen mode, so it still works the same way as before.  Full screen will go to the screen that has the window playing the video.

  • Playback only works while playing through iTunes

My iPod Classic 5th generation (30gb) works and plays fine while playing music through itunes when the iPod has "manage music and videos" is checked. Any other time when the iPod is not connected to the computer, through headphones or on a dock connector iHome, there is no sound. The songs look to play normally with second bar moving along as normal but no sound is produced.
    Any ideas?
    Much appreciated.

I have this exact same problem.  My 5th Generation 30gb iPod won't play through headphones or my cars auxillary jack anymore; it only plays through iTunes when it's plugged up to my computer.  This literally happend overnight and I have no idea how to correct it.  Any help please?

  • Audio Stutter during playback, ONLY in Soundtrack Pro

Just today when I opened an aiff file exported from a Final Cut project, I noticed that playing back this file in Soundtrack produced a stutter for almost every second, like a metronome. Scrubbing the playhead along the audio waveform would give me about a 1/2 second of audio but then go silent until I let go of the mouse button and grabbed the arrow again to scrub.
The more effects I put into the project, the worse the stutter becomes, but still in the same time (like I said before, like a metronome). It just becomes more pronounced. If I export from soundtrack, the audio is fine. Playing the AIFF file before and after in quicktime, the audio sounds fine.
I've since tried different file types, from MOV to MP3 and each file has the same outcome, so it's definitely something wrong with Soundtrack.
I've tried trashing the preferences, but that didn't help either. I've never run into this problem before and couldn't find any related issues in a google search. If anyone has ever experienced this before, please help. I've used this computer for over a year with no problems and it was used for a couple years before I started using it, also with no problems.

    Woo Hoo!!!
Thanks, Tim for the post. I have a G5 Quad 2.5 GHz and I got the same STP stuttering when I upgraded to Leopard. Playback was stuttery. If I exported to AIFF, the output file played back smooth, which was fine until I tried to export a non-aiff file. AAC and MP3 files ALL have the same stuttery audio as the STP source - I discovered this yesterday creating my first podcast.
So, now if becomes an issues. Searching for "Stutter" found your post. Reading the kenstone article cleared things up. Since I import audio from MiniDisc via optical, I already had a cable attached to the input. So, I attached the other end to the output and... like magic, perfect playback.
    Heavy sigh of relief!!
    Thank you immensely!!

  • 1 Second Playback Only in Premiere Pro CS6

I can't get video to play back for more than a second in Premiere Pro CS6. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? The files are from Canon DSLRs (T2i and 5D Mark III). These are just Quicktime files that play fine otherwise, and Adobe claims that DSLR files are natively supported in CS6. These files play fine in Final Cut Pro 7 and X, by the way. My MacBook Pro computer is 64bit compatible. This is stopping me from editing entirely. Solutions?
