Echo only on Lion
Use a Mid 2007 Mac Mini hooked to a Sony home theater receiver, Sony HDTV and a logitech HD webcam. When the Mini was running snow leopard no echo, updated hard drive, ram and installed Lion, echo is so bad it is un-usable.
I have searched google and apple for this thread, nothing...
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Howard

iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 required for accessing contacts and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.
Music features of iCloud require iOS 4.3.3 or later on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; iOS 5 on iPhone 4 (CDMA model); or a Mac or PC with iTunes 10.3.1 or later. Download iTunes 10.5 free.

Latest update 3.3 only for lion users? total mess
apple did a major step to indicate that aperture is no app for "pro"users. If it should be that it should support not only the latest system version!
latest update 3.3 only for lion users? total mess.
I will look for another solution. Sad.Hi,
I was wondering if somebody could give me some guidance please?
I bought an N73 in September after much research and a lot of deliberating, I decided to purchase one (via O2 in England) even though i had heard lots of unhappy people claiming the phone had ruined their life etc due to its software faults.
I haven't updated my phone yet since buying it mainly due to being put off by the number of NEW problems the updates can cause.
I dont have any major problems with my phone, its got a bit slower with time and the camera isnt very quick when uploading and sometimes switches off (but i think its to do with the slide mechanism on the back), anyway i would be grateful if you would give me your honest opinion as to whether i should upgrade to the latest firmware or not!
Many Thanks

Emailing PAGES spreadsheet one page only - Mountain lion?
Is this a change in Mountain Lion? Before, if i wanted to email ONE PAGE of my Pages spreadsheet, I'd just click on the "share" button and it would email only that page. Now that i try that in Mountain Lion, it'll only email the FIRST page. How can I email only ONE page of the entire spreadsheet, especially if it is a middle tab, not the first page?
ThankYou probably want to post in the Pages forum for Pages help.

Hi All, not sure where to post this question (didn't see one for iCloud yet).
But I was wondering if iCloud only works on Lion? I have 10.6.8 (SL), and will stay there for a while until I find out more about third party software stability (Maya and CS4).
ThanksYes

Multiple kernel panics a day - only using Lion, not Snow Leopard
Hey,
would be nice if anyone could help me.
I recently updated to 10.7 - when installing, Lion crashed two times with kernel panics, since then I get kernel panics every 5-10 minutes (sometimes I can work several hours until the kernel panics appear).
What I already tried:
- reinstalling Snow Leopard (no kernel panics; too bad all my SL-TimeMachine-Backups are lost...)
- reinstalling a clean Lion (even with nothing installed, many kernel panics...)
- PRAM-reset
- repaired volume and permissions with disk utility
here are the two last kernel panics:

can anyone please help me? I can't even get back to Snow Leopard as Lion overwrote all my SL-Backups...I don't think it's only Safari/WebProcess, as "BSD process name corresponding to current thread" names several other processes in other kernel panics, here's another two:

TS4002 Incorrect Mail count on iCloud account in Mail on MacBook Pro only; running Lion
My iCloud account in Mail always displays 1 unread email message even when all are read or if there are multiple unread emails. The iCloud account on the iPhone displays the read email count correctly. iCloud mail works properly in every other aspect.
Actually, when you choose the "Unread Mail only" option it removed the ability to pick which mailbox to designate, so it chose all mail messages, even those I had in imported mailboxes and are offline. I had to go in and mark all of those as "read" even though they were offline, (during the "archive" process it remarked all of them as unread) so that I could eliminate them as a source of the problem.
This issue occured after I had to do a clean install of Lion a while back due to a problem with the OS install the first time around. I've just lived with it. I just upgraded to iOS6 on my iPhone and was building the courage to install Mountain Lion. I figured I should resolve the iCloud problem before I went down that road.
I want to avoid having to go through the clean install process again. -
New Mac Minis only accept Lion?
We are in the process of purchasing some Third Party Software which will only run on Mac OS X Snow Leopard or earlier - it will not run on Lion. However, we need to purchase a Mac Mini to run this software, and I have been told that the new Mac Minis will not run any pre-Lion OS. Is this true? I can't find any reference to it, but this is a big concern - will I need to purchase an older model Mini to be able to run Snow Leopard?
Hope someone knows.
Thanks,
Eoghan. You can't. I was answering "will I need to purchase an older model Mini to be able to run Snow Leopard?" earlier.

TypeKit desktop syncing only for Lion?
Hi,
I've just recieved an invite to use the new TypeKit font syncing for desktop Apps, Great! I follow the link to begin, which prompts me to download the latest Creative Cloud. This just re-installs App manager and that's it!!!
So I'm assuming I can't get the latest Creative Cloud App because it's not available to anything below Mac OS X 7
As much as i'd like the cool toolbar icon and BeHance integration, I'm happy to live without it for now. So how do I sync the fonts????? Typekit states this "Typekit does not support Windows 2000 or Mac OS 10.3 and earlier"
Any ideas?
Many thanksHi Oli,
I'm sorry you ran into trouble here. Unfortunately, right now, the syncing of the fonts is handled by the Creative Cloud app. So it's required in order to use desktop sync fonts from Typekit.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help here. I can definitely share your request with the team. Let us know if you need anything else: [email protected]
Cheers,

I have updated from Snow Leopard to Lion with Safari Version 5.0.5. Now I can not update to Safari 5.1. There is no update in the Software Updater, and on the apple-download page, I only found a Safari 5.1 for Snow Leopard. When executing it, there is an error message, that it is for 10.6 only.
It seems that I should have first updated Safari, and then only to Lion, which I didn't. Any idea how I can fix this now without having to rollback to Snow Leopard, update Safari and then go back to Lion?Try this Safari5.1 from the installer package
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cc9005d/n/Safari.pkg.zip
The download worked better with Firefox not sure why. At the bottom of the page after the captcha>> slow down load is the Free link, it took about 4 minutes to download on my test. -
On my Macbook Pro 13.3" mid 2011 model, with Lion and bootcamp, upgrading to Mountain lion 10.8 hung for the whole night. It failed to boot up, I was panic, reinstall the OS in the hope it will repair the boot disc, but it locked up the macintosh HD.
I rebuilt OS without bootcamp from backed up image (Lion) then upgraded to Mountain lion, no problem at all. Used it for a couple of days, then installed bootcamp and restored the Windows 7 image from the backup. It's completed without any problem. It can boot up in Windows 7 and I changed startup disc in control panel to Mac HD, it can only boot from the recovery disc. Holding down the option key will show the 3 hard discs: Macintosh HD, Windows and Recovery 10.8, but selecting Mac HD always boots up by recovery disc. I have use disk utility from recovery disc to verify and repair Macintosh HD to no avail.
If I use only mountain lion, it will be OK.
Has anyone experience the same problem? Thank you.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaDMbmsRqkQ

Internet Recovery does not show Mountain Lion install, only Lion
My mid 2010 Mac mini came with Snow Leapord. In August I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Now I want to do a internert recovery, to do a fresh install of Mountain Lion.
When I boot setup from the Internet I can only choose Lion, then it ask for my apple ID. I hoped it would then offer Mountain Lion, but it says you have not purchased Lion so can not setup. If you are using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase ML, then something is wrong.

Late 2010 MacBook Pro 15", upgraded to Lion on Sat 23rd no external display does not work
Hi all,
Wanted to ask this question here see if anyone might have a solution to my problem. I have a Late 2010 Macbook Pro 15" which I upgraded to Lion yesteray. Ever since that upgrade when I try to connect to my TV to watch a video no joy the image looks like the colours are out.
I have tried it on different resolutions and always the same. Then for some reason the MacBook Pro split the screen in two. So now I see the right of the screen on the left of the TV and the left on the righ with a big black line done the middle.
Priror to the Lion upgrade everything was fine. Only since Lion has this been a problem.
I am using a Minidisply to HDMI cable to go direct into my Phillips 42" Plasma, and I have not got a clue why this is doing this. The strange thing is it works ok on my Samsung BX2450 down the same cable no problems at all just the TV that has issues.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

I currently have two macs. A 2008 macbook which is running Snow Leopard, can run Lion, and cannot run Mountain Lion. I also have a mac mini which came with Lion pre-installed. I plan on upgrading my mini to Mountain Lion when it's available. After I upgrade, it seems like I should be able to install Lion on my macbook using the license that came with my mini.
I have found many articles about making a DVD or bootable USB drive to recover, or install Lion onto other macs. So, I am not tied to the mac app store. And I am not worried about how to install Lion onto the macbook.
I have also read a few discussions about upgrading using pre-installed Lion license. From what I've read, if someone buys Lion through the app store, they can install it on all of their macs. But, if they have a machine the came with Lion pre-installed they can only use Lion on one machine. However it is unclear if that license can be transferred to another machine.
Another common answer that I have seen is, "Don't be cheap! Just buy Lion throught the app store." This is not about money, I'm interested in the technical challange, and the leagal question.
Does anyone have experience with this, or opinions? If your machine came with Lion preinstalled, you cannot use it on another machine. It is tied to the machine it came with. You are allowed to make a one time transfer of the OS when you sell the machine as long as it remains with that machine.
If you purchase Lion from the app store, you are free to install it on as many Macs as you own - however, if/when you sell one of those Macs, you are required to uninstall Lion as the license is not transferable and you need to reinstall the original OS.
You can read the SLA for yourself - the link to the downloads to all licenses is here:

Purchased a used macbook pro with Mountain Lion. My old Mac runs Snow Leopard is backed up to Time machine. How do I register the operating system to me and how do I use Time Machine to move my files to the new used computer?
If you look at the User Tips tab, you will find a write up on just this subject:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4053
The subject of buying/selling a Mac is quite complicated. Here is a guide to the steps involved. It is from the Seller's point of view, but easily read the other way too:
SELLING A MAC A
Internet Recovery, and Transferability of OS & iLife Apps
Selling an Old Mac:
• When selling an old Mac, the only OS that is legally transferable is the one that came preinstalled when the Mac was new. Selling a Mac with an upgraded OS isn't doing the new owner any favors. Attempting to do so will only result in headaches since the upgraded OS can't be registered by the new owner. If a clean install becomes necessary, they won't be able to do so and will be forced to install the original OS via Internet Recovery. Best to simply erase the drive and revert back to the original OS prior to selling any Mac.
• Additionally, upgrading the OS on a Mac you intend to sell means that you are leaving personally identifiable information on the Mac since the only way to upgrade the OS involves using your own AppleID to download the upgrade from the App Store. So there will be traces of your info and user account left behind. Again, best to erase the drive and revert to the original OS via Internet Recovery.
Internet Recovery:
• In the event that the OS has been upgraded to a newer version (i.e. Lion to Mountain Lion), Internet Recovery will offer the version of the OS that originally came with the Mac. So while booting to the Recovery Disk will show Mountain Lion as available for reinstall since that is the current version running, Internet Recovery, on the other hand, will only show Lion available since that was the OS shipped with that particular Mac.
• Though the Mac came with a particular version of Mac OS X, it appears that, when Internet Recovery is invoked, the most recent update of that version may be applied. (i.e. if the Mac originally came with 10.7.3, Internet Recovery may install a more recent update like 10.7.5)
iLife Apps:
• When the App Store is launched for the first time it will report that the iLife apps are available for the user to Accept under the Purchases section. The user will be required to enter their AppleID during the Acceptance process. From that point on the iLife apps will be tied to the AppleID used to Accept them. The user will be allowed to download the apps to other Macs they own if they wish using the same AppleID used to Accept them.
• Once Accepted on the new Mac, the iLife apps can not be transferred to any future owner when the Mac is sold. Attempting to use an AppleID after the apps have already been accepted using a different AppleID will result in the App Store reporting "These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID".
• It appears, however, that the iLife Apps do not automatically go to the first owner of the Mac. It's quite possible that the original owner, either by choice or neglect, never Accepted the iLife apps in the App Store. As a result, a future owner of the Mac may be able to successfully Accept the apps and retain them for themselves using their own AppleID. Bottom Line: Whoever Accepts the iLife apps first gets to keep them.
SELLING A MAC B
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
side.
4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
4. Install OS X.
5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
6. Shutdown the computer.
B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
Utilities window appears.
2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License. -
Time machine backup from OSX 10.5 to Mountain lion doesn't want to recover.
Hi!
I have just upgraded my iMac from 2007, from the original oreparting system (10.5?) to mountain lion.
I had read a lot about the problems with loosing files so I made a complete backup of the computer using time machine.
I then updated to snow leopard as a "from scratch" installment and then upgraded to mountain lion via the app store.
I therefore had a completely blank computer with only mountain lion installed.
When I now try to take my time machine backup that I did and install it straight over, then it says:
"The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access “.localized”." or the same sentence but something else instead of localized.
Any tips on how I can try to sort this out?
Thanks!
