ECL viewer upgrade

Hi,
I am upgrading the ECL viewer to 5.1.2. Is is possible to load centrally in server or it has to be loaded in the individual PCs.
Prasanna

Hi,
It can be control from Server, earlier versions needed to install on each machine, but latest versions has lot of methods by which you can install centrally and control them.
You can use the following techniques for displaying documents within the Document Viewer:
HTML Control (standard setting)
HTML control is an Internet browser embedded in the SAPGUI to enable all Internet browser display techniques (direct display, plug-ins). You cannot display documents in FAX and TIF formats.
For displaying FAX and TIF formats, you can implement the display program WANG Imaging, which is supplied with every Windows installation.
This is the standard setting; you do not need to perform any Customizing.
ECL Control
ECL control is supplied by SAP and can display both TIF and FAX formats. For more information on ECL control, see the SAP library under Cross-Application Components--> Document Management -> Viewer for Displaying Original Application Files.
To activate ECL control, choose the following in the Implementation Guide (IMG): SAP Web Application Server -> Basis Services -> ArchiveLink -> Front End Communication Customizing -> Make Settings for Storage and Display.
Instead of the Document Viewer, you can use your storage system provider viewer to display documents. To do this, you need to carry out some Customizing settings for communication between the SAP system and the storage system. The Customizing settings override the standard settings. For more information, see Front End Communication.
You also have the following Customizing options for the Document Viewer:
Deactivate the Generic Object Services Toolbox.
Use your own HTML page for displaying.
To make these settings, choose the following in the IMG: SAP Web Application Server -->Basis Services >ArchiveLink> Front End Communication Customizing --> Make Settings for Storage and Display

  • ECL Viewer 5 raise exceptions viewing tif drawings

    Hello all,
Bit of a strange one here that hopefully someone may be able to help me with...
We are (still) running 4.6C, on Ora 9.2.0.7 over Windows.
We are running 640 Gui patched to 24
We have deployed (in a failed attempt to stop the error I will describe below) ECL viewer 5.1.3.
Client machines are running XP with SP2
    Error:
after entering MM03 and choosing Additional Data > Document Data we click on an attchment (doc type DRG) and choose to view via the display (glasses) icon.  The tif file (which is copied into C:\temp) opens.  many of the tif files (scanned drawings) have multiple pages so we move to the next page by clicking 'Navigation' > 'next'.
The problem is that after a seemingly random amount of clicks on to next pages a raise exception occurs.  After the short dump it is no longer possible to view the document again as we get the error 'file c:\temp\xxxxx.tif cannot be created' and so the only way to view the drawing is either to access the file from the temp directory or completly log out of SAP and relog back in.
i have searched for notes and we were advised to deploy the 5.1.3 viewer which only seems to have made it worse because before the 5.1.3 deployment we were getting many short dumps but the user oddly didn't see the short dump on their screens - now 5.1.3 is in place the user now sees the short dump and calls the support desk very often.
Has anyone been unfortunate enough to have experienced this before or anyone got any brain waves????
yours thankful in advance and loosing the will to live,
    Andy
ps here is the short dump extract:

A RAISE statement in the program "CL_GUI_CFW====================CP " raised the
    exception
    condition "CNTL_ERROR".
Since the exception was not intercepted by a superior program

    Short description of exception condition:
For detailed documentation of the exception condition, use
Transaction SE37 (Function Library). You can take the called
function module from the display of active calls.
    How to correct the error
If the error occurred in a non-modified SAP program, you may be
able to find a solution in the SAP note system.
If you have access to the note system yourself, use the following
    search criteria:
    "RAISE_EXCEPTION"
    "CL_GUI_CFW====================CP " or "CL_GUI_CFW====================CM00P "
    "UPDATE_VIEW"

    "CL_GUI_CFW====================CP " "CNTL_ERROR"
    or
    "SAPMMG01 " "CNTL_ERROR"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
    following documents to SAP:
    1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
    2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
       part.
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
       supply the source code.
To do this, you can either use the "PRINT" command in the editor or
print the programs using the report RSINCL00.

    Hi Andy,
I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest available ECL Viewer version 6.
    Please see SAP note 1083901.
Further please upgrade also your SAPGUI to the latest patch level as explained in note 164203. After this upgrade please un-install your ECL Viewer 5.1.3 by using one of the following mehtods:
Search for WebViewer2d.dll file. If it is present at more than one place then it means ECL Viewer is installed more than once without uninstalling the previous version (You can check the folders and should be able to see all the dll's for ECL Viewer such WebViewer3d.dll/Printing.dll etc to make sure that there is not only single file but the whole installation).
    In this case:
    A) Uninstall the version integrated with SAP GUI by using SAP Installation scripts. You need to uncheck the 'EAI Viewer' component in 'General Add-on' option.
    B) Check add/remove program and if there is an entry like SAP Viewer, uninstall it.
After this search again, and you should not get WebViewer2d.dll file on machine. Now reinstall the latest Viewer. This should solve most of the issue related to inconsistencies.
Then install the latest ECL Viewer 6 and the issue should be solved.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • ECL Viewer Color (not background)

    Hi,
Does anyone know where in the registry personal settings for COLOR in ECL Viewer is stored? I have succesfully set the background color to white using key ImageViewUtils to "ffffff". But how to set the color of the drawing? I want to use "monochrome" but when changing the setting in ECL to "monochrome" drawing is ok, but I cant find the reg key holding the information. No additional keys are added under ImageViewUtils, so I guess its stored somewher else?
If someone has an idea as how to  set color via registry entry it would be much appreciated.
    We're on ECL 6.1.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,
    Søren

    Hi,
check by adding EAIWeb.webviewer2D.1 %SAP-CONTROL%MAXSIZE% in tcode DC30 for Define workstation application -> Define workstation application in network -> Application (path & program) for pc.
I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest available ECL Viewer 6.1 patch  because with this version the display quality should be better and it is not necessary to set this flag.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem view TIFF multipage images with ECL Viewer 5.1.3

    Dear All,
using the SAPGUI 710 and CV04N, I cannot view the same TIFF multipage image twice in ECL Viewer, the second time, the first time every thing is ok, but the second time the SAPGUI display the error : "File C:Docume1dupondLOCALS1TempZEP_0457895 cannot be created"
To view again the TIFF mulitpage image, I need to kill the sapLogon.exe process and relaunch it again.
It seams the TIFF image file is locked by the  the saplogon.exe process the first time and on the second time, SAP cannot rewrite the temporay TIFF image file.

    Dear Gurus,
I tried installing the ECL viewer 6.0 with followin steps...
    1. un installed the previous version by deselecting the viewer in "general add-ons" of the gui setup.
    2. Checked for the Webviewer2d.dll..... no trace
    3. installed the ECL Viewer 6.0.
Now according to the note 866612, step 3, I could not find the

  • Problems using ECL Viewer to display multipage TIFF Files

    Hey there!
Maybe someone here may have a good hint due to our problem?
    The Situation as it is:
We are using ECL Viewer to display multipage TIFFs.
    The Process looks like following:
The first step is to show a list of files situated in the user's personal folder(Network-Share).
Then the user selects one of these Files through a mouse-click -> The File is displayed via ECL Viewer.
Now the user selects the personal-Id where this file should be connected to and selects "SAVE".
The Programm closes the Viewer and saves the Data in SAP Archiv.
    >> Everything works fine till here.<<
But now the last processing-step would be to delete this file from the user-folder.
(So next time the users starts it there will be only files he/she has to work on...)
Here an error message is telling us that the file can not be deleted because there s some kind of file lock set...
This problem only occurs only during processing multipage-Tiffs after paging down (swiching to page 2,3,4...) once at least.
Any Idea what's the cause here  - or how to get through it?
We are using a CL_GUI_CUSTOM_CONTAINER objekt as base -> hooked on that is a CL_GUI_ECL_VIEWERBOX and the TIFF itself is displayed wit an I_OI_DOCUMENT_VIEWER objekt.
Maybe we get confused while destroying the "Connections" to the FIle oder something with Automation Queue Handling is not implemented right?
Thanx for any idea, hints, or better practices
    Very kind Regards from Austria!

  • ECL viewer printing format failure (A4- letter)

    Hi all,
we are using ECL Viewer 6.0 Patchlevel 5 for viewing and printing CAD Drawings in purchasing, production, QA and so on. We are on SAP ECC 6.0 ( EA-APPL: SAPKGPAD17), and our SAPGUI version is 7.20 Patchlevel 1.
Our designers are using the CAD integration to Solidworks and when they save their work, a TIF  file gets created and stored in the same DIR as the original CAD file. The drawing formats are mostly A3 and A4.
Now it happens really often that a user tries to print A4 TIF from ECL viewer which fails, because its sended to the printer in letter format. Since we do not have letter format in our printers, the printout hangs in the printer. All settings and defaults in the printdriver are set to A4, nowhere letter format is set. This seems to be a problem, since we switched companywide to Xerox Printers.
Could this be an issue between ECL-viewer and the global print driver from Xerox which we use everywhere?
    Thanks and regards

Implement this program,  it is a cut/paste solution.  Again, you must have the ECL component installed on your SAPgui.

Now drap a PDF file from the left container, and drop in the right side.  Slick, right?
The ECL doesn't handle every file type,  but PDF works good.

Due to SAPGUI Update from 6.40  to 7.10 we had to get rid of the AL_Viewer, which ist not supported anymore. Now we have some limitations with the handling of the ECL Viewer: There are no Menu buttons, short cuts or hotkey for easy Document viewing control , like zoom, shift,  resize etc. These are only available with context menue (right mouse click): Navigation ....
Are there any posibilites of customizing the navigation within the viewer window ?
    Kind Regards,
    Josef Janetzko

    Hi Josef
/*There are no Menu buttons, short cuts or hotkey for easy Document viewing control , like zoom, shift, resize etc. These are only available with context menue (right mouse click): Navigation ....*/
The navigation option is present in the menu option also. But for them to appear in the menu go to options and there u have to select the menu options which you want to make as visible. Pre requisite is ECL viewer has to be installed on the machine.
You can find help on this in sap help->DMS->Function overview of 2d formats-> settings for 2d formats.
    Regards
    Prasad

  • ECL Viewer Redlining does not work in cFolders for PDF

    Hi,
I am using cFolders 4.5 with ECL viewer 6.0 patch level 4. Redlining functionality works for AutoCAD and graphics files such as JPG. However, when I try to use the redlining functionality on a PDF I get the message "This feature is currently not supported. Please contact your cFolders system administrator. The ECL viewer will shut down".
Any ideas on why this is happening. Is there anything specific I need to do to enable redlining for PDF files on cFolders.
    Thanks,
    Lashan

    Hi Lashan,
This can be only realized in form of a modification.
To get the functionality, you have to change the code of BSP page
'doc_de_redline.htm'. You can find this information at transaction SE80
    > BSP application 'CFX_RFC_UI' > Pages with Flow Logic
    Switch to Layout:

please upload this to your WebDAV (replace the old one and save this under a different name as
backup). The way to access WebDAV is explained in the cFolders configuration guide, chapter 'Creating the Settings URL for WebDAV Access' (the guide is attached to note 973764).
I hope that this information help you to solve the issue.
