[Eclipe SLI] 3 beeps at booting and D-LED2 gives CPU ini. (System looks stable)

Intel core i7 920 D0 @2,66
Msi Eclipse SLI Bios V1.4
Cossair TR3XG1600C8D (3x2GB)
I have tested the mainboard 3 days without problems on a cardbox. Now have i build it in a case and the D-LED2 gives only CPU ini. at the POST.
During the POST the mainboard gives 3 short beeps and with the last beep you hear also the normal beep (that what you always get when the POST is OK). The beeps sounds like what you hear at the racetrack.
I have installed Vista during writing this topic and it looks like it is stable.
Anyone knows what's wrong?

I thought when not good seated, the board will not boot and you get a long beep.
That's what I meant by not work, no boot.
I also had some issues with the temp sensor not being plugged in properly.  The only CPU-ini code I have got so far is from a bad overclock.  Not sure what your settings are in the bios.  Maybe try to clear CMOS and see if it will pass CPU-ini.  Check the overclock dip switchs, I've bumped them before on accident.

  • P6N SLI Platinum beeps on boot up (error codes?)

I'm assuming these are beep codes, but instead of short/long, they are high/low tones.
    H: High
    L: Low
HH *short pause* HHLL *short pause* HHL

No real issues that I'm aware of besides this, but my system runs fine. Was more of curiosity as to what the beeps were for. I couldn't find any information on them in the manual or on the MSI website. But perhaps I didn't look hard enough.

  • GE60 Wont Boot and F3 Recovery gives blank screen

    Hi,
I purchased a MSI GE60 yesterday. On the second reboot the system said it was updating the system and during this time, the laptop went into sleep mode. Now every time I power up the laptop one of 2 things happens.
    1) it gives me the MSI logo and the spinner for about 20 minutes then says it is repairing windows. Gets to about 6% after about a further 20 minutes and then turns off.
    2) it gives me the MSI logo and the spinner for about 10 minutes and then powers off
In both cases the Blue Turbo light stays on all the time.
I have tried using the F3 Recovery. I get the MSI Logo and the spinner and a message saying it is preparing to repair windows. This lasts for about 10 seconds and then I get a blank screen. The screen stays blank for about 15 -20 minutes and then the laptop powers down.
Does anyone have any advice about how I can get the system recovery to work.

    Hi!
I have a GE60 2oc and had the same problem and found out that it is because the notebook is delivered with nearly 30 language packs and at each restart windows remove 1 (ONE) language pack. I.e. it takes 30 restarts to get rid of all the unused language packs.
If you run lpksetup as administrator you can delete the language packs you do not need. However it do take a lot of time to do, but you get rid of them in one go!

  • My HP Pavilion DV7 wont boot up it beeps three times and blinks 1 time

I have been having problems with my HP Pavilion DV7 for the last several months. When I turn it on I get a black screen. It will beep three times and the caps LED will blink one time. When this first started happening I would turn it off and try to turn it on again. Sometimes it would take turning it off and on several times before it would boot up. Now it will not boot up at all. It just does the same thing every time. When I turn the power on I can hear the fan and the beeps and see the light blink but that is all. I have even tried to turn it on in safe mode but still get the same results.

    Hi there @texashunter00
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that your notebook is having trouble booting up properly, and that you are getting a beep/LED code. I am happy to assist you with this.
Assuming the flashing code is a repeating  single flash that would indicate a cpu problem. The beeps are commonly indicating a problem with the RAM. Please see the following, and if necessary reseat the memory cards, and see if the problem remains.
Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps
If after checking through this, you are still having the same beep/led codes, I would recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • 3 *beeps* at startup and no booting

    hello,
i would like to know what happened to my motherboard , here is a short description of what i did >
i had 2Gb of OCZ DDR3 Ram , after some problems i ran memtest and i saw that i  had a problem with one of my memory sticks so i decided to buy 3 new ones (noname/brand) . My PC was running fine (yeah, never touch a running system !!!) then i decided to turn it off and install the new Ram sticks,  once off i removed the working OCZ Ram and plugged the 3 new ram sticks in and tried to boot > the board beeped 3 times and didn't boot ! i replaced the OCZ working Ram in (power off, 3 other sticks removed^^) but the same happened, 3 beeps and the board wont boot :( ! i tried each ram slot with the working OCZ memory but still always the same result : 3 beeps and no boot !
i fear the ramchipset is damaged or is there something i forgot/didnt do right ? Also if the ramchipset is damaged will MSI repair/replace my board (normally it is still guaranteed).
Please help  i need my PC (actually i am on an old system running a Linux live CD to connect to the Internet, wich aint quite stable since it reboots sometimes alone :s )
thanx in advance for your replys

so.....sadly i have to say my MB is dead :( !!!
i first went out and bought new RAM sticks (Corsair XMS3, dualchannel) and tried them = no results :(
then starting to go mad without a "normal" PC i ordered a new MB (asus P5P43TD since i sadly couldn't find any MSI P45D3 Platinum anymore at my usual retailers/stores i go to), as i took the old board out i saw what the problem was ->
    Big :

    Smaller :

the board is still under warranty till December 2010 ! i really hope MSI will repair/replace it for me since i really love this board and I'm looking forward to re-use it and ditch the Asus one !
i allready mailed MSI support who told me to return it to my vendor who in returns directs me back to MSI support :S since the order has passed 1 year (time in which they would had handle the exchange/repair).
So can i hope MSI will replace/repair it or what should i do ?

  • Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade

Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be a good idea to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
    I have tried these:
    1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
    2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
    Thoughts and suggestions?

  • Problems with Booting and Reliability

Hi all I just recently purchased an AMD 64 3400 and an MSI K8T NEO mobo.  First off I have had nothing but problems.  This was an upgrade from an old Athlon 1700XP and a Gigabyte board so I expected some hiccups.  First I had some boot problems from the start.  That ended up being a PSU problem and I am now the proud owner of an Antec True Power 550.  Boot problem solved.
Next I began experiencing stability problems.  It started out being a stutter here or there during the occasional gaming session.  It eventually got worse.  Mostly freezes no hard crashes or BSOD.
Well it got so bad that the computer would no longer POST reliably.  So began the long troubleshooting process.  I have had some heat issues in the past so that is where I began.  I cleaned up cables, re-routed several, and added a PCI slot fan.  This made a smidge of improvement and I thought that my problem was video card related as my GeForce4 4600ti is beginning to show its age but I was even having problems surfing the internet.
Well after reading several post on these forums and the AMD forums I realized that my old DDR266 PC2100 RAM may be the problem.
When I purchased the system in spring 2002 I bought 512 megs of Samsung RAM according to the chips on the stick anyways (I admit I do not know the actual manufacturer of the stick).  Well this did not seem to be enough for games such as Star Wars Galaxies so I bought another stick of DDR266 PC2100 512 megs (again not sure of the stick maker but the chips are Infineon).  So this is where I began trouble shooting.  I swapped wo sticks for one with no luck.  Then I tried swapping the sticks and I got a POST beep (beepage good!) and the computer booted.  So I thought problem solved.  Well it would last for anywhere between 10 minutes and several hours before another freeze.
Well today I stopped into Worst Buy and picked up a stick of Crucial PC3200.  With trepidation I plugged the stick in and no POST...nothing.  With the Samsung stick I am able to get a proper boot about 10% of the time.
I have seen lots of posts regarding newer faster RAM and compatibilty issues with them.  I dont see any problems with older RAM.  My question is:  Is my problem RAM related or am I barking up the wrong tree (tree...RAM stick...get it?).  Even with the newer Crucial PC3200 I am still having problems.  If anyone could assist me I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.

next put ram in slot 1 and 3 if you onlly have 2 sticks.
try limiting ram speed to 333 see if that helps.
    try using only one stick
disable onbaord stuff you dont need, l
i wasnt having much luck with onboard network , that was 1st to go.
ike parallel ports, if you have a usb printer,
if heat is an issue try running with case cover off.
unless your cpu cooler was not mounted well (rubed off thermal pad having trouble locking it). but i doubt that and would lead to more trouble checking , becuse you would have to remout with artic silver or something.
Well my original RAM is only 266 so the limiting to 333 wont help that.  Using one stick is the only way that I can actually get the thing to boot at all but with limited reliability.
I run with the cover off constantly because I am constantly fiddling with the thing.  I have taken the HSF off, cleaned it, put new paste on and replaced.  My CPU temps have never been above 43 degrees celsius.  I have replaced the stocker HSF with a Thermal Take Venus 12.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • 3 short beeps on boot up

3 short beeps on boot up

    Hi James,
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

  • HP ENVY H8-1414 beeps at boot up due to the lack of a UEFI boot source

I recently messed up my Windows installation, due to this I ordered recovery DVDs from HP. Following the  instructions I was supplied with, I inserted the DVD into my computer to try to boot off of it. It did not show up in the list of boot sources when I went to the boot menu. I then realized that this likely had something to do with me disabling UEFI boot and using the legacy boot option, so I went into the BIOS to switch it to the UEFI boot option. Now when I turn it on all I get is 6 beeps, which is because my motherboard is trying to boot into a UEFI OS, but there is not one available.  So my question is, what should I do now? I can't change it back to legacy boot since that requires Windows (you have to go through Windows to get to the bios) and I can't boot into Windows because it doesn't recognize the reinstall disk as a UEFI enabled device.

COMPUTER INFORMATION: HP ENVY PRODUCT NUMBER: H3Z00AA#ABAMODEL NUMBER: H8-1414 Frank, I do not receive ANY error messages at ANY time. The monitor never comes on. The monitor and graphics card are good as I have chacked them in another system. The MotherBoard does not have on-board video. (Angelica 1.2) I receive 6 beeps, usually indicates video, and then nothing.  However, it is not a video hardware issue. I am 100% positive of this as the video card worked previously and works in another system. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit F10 and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit F1 and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit F8 and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit F6 and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit F2 and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit F12 and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit ESC and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. At boot monitor does not turn on (I have tried multiple monitors and keyboards) I hit DEL and I get 6 beeps, then nothing. I have tried every USB port on the machine using the same combinations from above.I have tried VGA and DVI outputs.I have removed the CMOS pin from one and two and placed on 2-3 and back to 1-2 after 10 seconds.I have removed the CMOS battery for 5 minutes and then replaced. I have tried placing a UBCD disc in the DVD drive for boot.I have tried placing a Windows 7 Enterprise dvd in the DVD drive for boot.I have tried placing a linux disc in the DVD drive for boot. This has to be a bios issue, I would think. My concern is two things. First, the keyboard does not seem to stay active during boot continuosly. Therefore, I am not sure if the system is getting a key command. I have tried several keyboards and even found a legacy USB keyboard from many many years ago. Same thing with all of them. The system does not have a PS/2 port. I have also tried using several monitors pulling out a legacy 15 inch VGA monitor to a new Dell 24 inch using DVI and VGA.  I know the system is not bad and there is no hardware that is bad.  I know this with 100% certainty. The system worked, but the harddrive was crashing (internal mechanical issue from within the harddrive). I removed the harddrive and connected to my other system to save data before a complete drive failure. After recovering 90% of the data, the drive completely failed. Therefore, the drive was pulled from a working system.

  • K9N2 Sli Platinum - won't boot? Can't figure out problem.

Hey guys. My computer practically crapped itself the other day, and there were so many symptoms I'm not quite sure
    what to even search for.
I've had this computer for about a year now. no problems since the day i built it.
    specs:
    Msi K9n2 Sli Platinum mobo
    AMD Athlon 64x2 3.2 Ghz
    2x BFG Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+
    2x Cosair xms2 2gb ddr2
    1000 watt BFG EX Series
    Sony DvD drive
    1tb western digital drive
So i was playing SC2 and my computer froze. So i restarted and it hung during windows loading.
I turned it off waited a few seconds and started... still hung. Cycled it and tried a couple more times.
Still nothing. Naturally i assumed it was a virus so i repaired my windows installation. After it finished it hung on
Windows has finished repairing your computer will now restart. I waited about an hour and decided to just restart
myself. Next time it booted asked me if i wanted to boot from cd and then it just shutdown like i pulled the plug.
Then i thought well i ruined my windows install. I tried booting again it did the same thing. So i just said screw it
ill reformat. But this time there was no signal from my graphics card. When i turn the computer on it will normally
be loud and then get quiet after everything has booted. But now it just turns on and stays loud because i suspect
it's still booting. So i took everything apart. Tried connecting and unconnecting everything. moving ram etc...
Ive got it to boot twice but after that it crashes before windows loads like a plug pull and it wont boot again.
I cant tell whats wrong it could be everything but nothing makes sense. I've built about 7 or 8 computers.
gotten rid of several viruses and bad hardware but I've never seen anything like this.
I tried checking the LED codes for the board. Leds 11 and 10 and 9 and 8 alternate red and green which means HDD and floppy drive are trying to boot.
but it does that even when my harddrive is not connected and it still wont show video. Ive even rotated the graphics cards and tried a 7900gs. nothing.
Edit: now led 6 and 7 are red.
    please help me out. Thanks.

Yeah the case i have is the antec 1200. Never had a problem with heat before.
Ive tried it with just the ram and the cpu and it still gives me the lights so i
guess it must be the mobo or processor. I don't have another motherboard to test everything else on
all my other pcs are 5 to 7 years old.
