Eclipse problem (of EP5 PDK)

Hello All,
Iam still working in Eclipse 2.1 that has been configured with EP5 PDK kit.Very soon we would be updating to Netweaver Dev.Studio. At present I have the following problem:
In the Eclipse project folder structure:
Project1->Private->lib->Project1.jar
A jar file will be formed automatically when we build a par file of the project.For my project also, the jar file is created initally, but now this jar file is not getting updated when ever I recreate a par file.With this problem what ever the code I had written in the .java files is not getting updated.
I have tried all the following known ways:
1.deleted the jar file and again created the par file, but the jar file is not getting created again.
2.uninstalled my Ecipse and re-installed Eclipse with EP% PDK kit again, but again same problem is getting continued.
Can any one of you help me in this aspect to throw some light over the reason of this this unusual problem.
Thanks
Chakri.

Hi,
Did you try using the File > Export > JAR file to manually do this...
Try Windows > Preferences > Restore Defaults to see if that makes a difference...
When you uninstall Eclipse to try and refresh the installation, you probably have to get rid of the workspace and any other settings manually to really get rid of the old settings.

  • Jboss and eclipse, problems with JNDI

    Hi, i have managed to deploy my j2ee application (according to jboss), its a simple HelloWorld app, problem is when i try to look it up.
    In the client:
    System.out.println("starter");
    Context context = new InitialContext();
    System.out.println("etter context");
    Object objref = context.lookup("HelloWorld");
    // Stops here and a javax.naming.NoInitialContextException is thrown...
    // What is wrong?
    The jboss.xml file looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE jboss PUBLIC "-//JBoss//DTD JBOSS 2.4//EN" "http://www.jboss.org/j2ee/dtd/jboss_2_4.dtd">
    <jboss>
    <enterprise-beans>
    <session>
    <ejb-name>HelloWorld</ejb-name>
    <jndi-name>ejb/HelloWorld</jndi-name>
    </session>
    </enterprise-beans>
    <resource-managers>
    </resource-managers>
    </jboss>

    I have managed to run the file now but i had to do it from command prompt and include every jar file from jboss + the files in my project. My problem now is an eclipse problem i think.
    I have created a client wich looks up the ejb, but the thing is that i have to manually import a bunch of jboss jar-files to get it to work. isn't there a way i can make eclipse / jboss import those jar's automatically? perhaps create a client automatically or something?
    Hope someone can help..

  • Problems while migrating PDK applications from Portal 7.1 to Portal 7.3

    Hi All,
    I am facing a problem while migrating a PDK application from Portal 7.1 to Portal 7.3.
    Since Portal 7.3 doesnt support PAR files any more it provided with a tool to convert the PAR to an EAR file and deploy the resultant EAR to the new portal.
    I converted the PAR into EAR and deployed the file but the application is not executing. When I looked into the log files i found the following exception. The application is not able to identify the tag "documentBody". I checked the protalapp.xml and the "SharingReference" is properly maintained in the file but the error message suggests that its not able to fine the reference to the tagLib uri maintained in the portalapp.xml
    Now my question is why is it not able to obtain a reference to the taglib? Did any one face similar problem previously. Can you please provide me with any document for migrating / developing PDK application for Portal 7.3

    Hi Amit,
    Thanks for your reply. I could see some progress after "thoroughly" going through those links. Thanks a lot (gave points too )
    Now I am facing another problem. The application did deploy successfully but with a warning. When i checked the warning it says that the deployment was successful but can not be started.
    The log file has the following error message.

    I dont understand why is SAPPORTAL/com.sapportals.htmlb is not available. As per my understanding it is some thing that should be available with the portal server by default.
    Any hints from any one?

  • Problem Deploying Oracle PDK Portlet to Oracle Application Server 9.0.4.0

    I have a big issue trying to deploy a pdk portlet I have created in JDeveloper (10.1.2). The application is very simple, it consists of 2 JSP's (call them Select.jsp and Display.jsp) and 1 Java Class (Call it DoEverything.java).
    The architecture of the system is VERY simple. The Select.jsp is a simple drop down list that is embedded in an html form, with the options in the drop down populated by a method call from DoEverything.java. Once the user selects an option and hits submit, he is sent to the Display.jsp, which is a simple html table that is populated by another method call from DoEverything.java. (Basically the whole system is a simple "view" of a given table in a DB based on the option selected in Select.jsp).
    The system works perfect in JDeveloper, where I created it using the Oracle PDK Java Portlet wizard. However I'm running into a problem when I try and take it over to the Application Server. The main documentation I have been following is the: Oracle® Application Server Portal Developer's Guide and in particular the section 6.6.2.4.1 Creating a Connection to Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE where it explains how to connect to the App. Server. The line "The steps that follow describe the procedure for deploying to a standalone instance of Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE. For information about deploying to a full Oracle Application Server instance, please refer to the Oracle JDeveloper online Help system." is the one that is bothering me the most as I am trying to deploy to a full instance of the Oracle Application Server, but I cannot find anywhere that walks me through this in the online JDeveloper help.
    Anyway, currently we ftp the appropriate JSP's, Java Class, provider.xml and provider properties files to their respective directories on the Application Server, register the provider and reboot the Http Server. (This has worked before except for the fact that when the user selected an option from the Select.jsp and the request was then sent over to the Display.jsp based on the form action the Display.jsp wasn't recognized. We figured the provider.xml file needed to be edited in this case in order to know where Display.jsp was being kept). In any event nothing seems to be working at the moment and my main concern is that it maybe we should be deploying as EAR/WAR (both of which I'm not super familiar and my second main concern is that it seems most people use JavaBeans and Struts and all sorts of different API's whereas here I just have a fairly simple Java Class back end that connects to the database and creates an object based on the attributes contained in the database (1 object for 1 unique row in the DB) and I want to be sure that the way I have developed this should still work with the Oracle AS. I'm hoping its just a matter of getting the directory structure straightened out and editing the provider.xml file to include all the JSP's.
    Sorry for the long post, but if you could address my two main concerns and possible give me or point me towards a good thorough walk through of deploying a simple system (oracle pdk java portlet) like I have developed to the App. Server it would be greatly appreciated !
    Thanks a lot.

    Basically I started to develop this system inside Oracle AS and then when it came time to passing a request to a new page, it crapped out on me on the App. Server. So instead of trying to fix the problem there and then I continued to develop outside Portal and inside Jdeveloper. After a week or two once all my stuff worked perfectly I try and take it back into Portal but only the first JSP of all my Portlets would show up, because as soon as I would submit a form and the action directed me to a new page and Portal would be lost/confused. Obviously I shouldn't have done it that way but none the less...
    So now I'm reading through the documentation you pointed me towards and it seems I have to qualify my parameters and then "attach" them to the url which the form will pass to the actioned page. I'm importing numerous classes (...urlUtils, etc) in order to qualify the parameters and then build this url without affecting any parameters currently present that my portlet does not own.
    What I'm rambling towards here is all this separation of logic and presentation and the whole nine, implies different people can develop different parts of a 'system' mostly independant of one another...so in my situation I shouldn't in huge trouble yet, since underlying everything is a working system. My issue is with oracle and the App Server. If I take my code which works great outside of the App. Server and I fully qualify parameters and make sure my form actions are constructed using the UrlUtils in order to fully qualify them as well, and then I make sure page parameters are mapped to the proper portlet parameter values....should my system work on the App Server (assuming everything is done properly)....or am I still missing something.

  • Problems with Nov PDK - omniportlet and samples

    Hiya,
    I have deployed the Novemeber PDK, OmniPortlet and WebClipping Portlets. I have done a manual installation inyo a 9iAS install. I have followed the instruction provided. The problem I have is that I'm not able to return the test page for these portlets eg http://server_name:7777/portalTools. can anyone please assist in diagnosing where I have gone wrong.

  • Eclipse: Problem With Path Variable

    I'd be very grateful for any help with this....
    I have an app that runs fine from the windows shell but errors when
    run through Eclipse (even though I'm using exactly the same class
    files in both cases). The error I get is:
    native lib 'hrtlib' not found in 'java.library.path':
    C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\bin;.....
    It goes on to list all the directories in my path, including the one
    that contains the DLL. However, when I do echo %PATH% from the
    windows shell, I get a slightly different output than Eclipse's: some
    directories are listed twice in the windows shell output, including
    the directory in question, which is listed first and then again in the
    same place where Eclipse lists it. Not sure if this is related to the
    problem or not.
    Any ideas what could be going on?
    Thanks,
    John

    I would suggest updating your software to the latest versions - java 1.4.2 or higher, tomcat 5 or higher, Eclipse 3. That should fix any incompatibilities you are experiencing.
    As to your problem, it seems the tomcat you are trying to run from Eclipse wants a newer Java version (1.4.2 most likely).

    Hi, I ran into Sam problem. I have the Eclipse 3.1.0, JBOSS 4.0.1sp1, JBoss-IDE 1.3.0 running under JDK 1.5.0.02. It appers for sum resion that the jboss-web.xml is not getting the name of the <ejb-ref-name></ejb-ref-name>. if I manually add the name so it looks like this: <ejb-ref-name>ejb/Fibo</ejb-ref-name> the project deploys. I am new to this as well and am not shore what needs to be changed to fix this in the build. I am thinking its a problem in the way XDoclet parses the source for the META DATA.

    Are you sure that package exists? Looks like one of the Sun private APIs that aren't for general use, and, more pertinently, aren't guaranteed to be present in different versions of Sun's Java implementation. They won't be present at all in non-Sun distros. What leads you to want to import it?
    From the javadocs of JPEGCodec, in that package:
    Note that the classes in the com.sun.image.codec.jpeg package are not* part of the core Java APIs. They are a part of Sun's JDK and JRE
    * distributions. Although other licensees may choose to distribute these
    * classes, developers cannot depend on their availability in non-Sun
    * implementations. We expect that equivalent functionality will eventually
    * be available in a core API or standard extension.>
    In short, try and avoid using it directly

  • MSI Eclipse problems

    Hello, i just built my new pc alone and i have an issue i wanna ask about
    MSI Eclipse X58
    Core 920
    PSU Cooler Master 850W
    3x1gb Corsair TR3X3G1600C9
    VGA Asus 285
    When i press the power button, all lights turn on (like the pc is gonna start booting) for 2-3 secs, then evrything goes off (like power turned off) for 3-4 secs and then evrything is on again and the pc boots. Is this normal? Thank you.
    (This happens 99% but there is a 1% possibility to boot without turning off and on, that made me think this might not be normal)
    One more issue is that when i start a game a strange sound comes out of the chipsets (i think is the vga), Its like the sound old modems used to do to connect but not so loud and im sure it comes out of chipsets and not a speaker. Is it a vga/soundcard conflict. Soundblaster is installed in first pci-e and next to it i have install the vga (recomended from manual).
    I start game and suddenly the sound comes out , i alt-tab to desktop and sound stops. Happens with all games i tried, even vista chess.

    thrass it sounds like you have the double/fake boot issue there is a sticky about it at the top of the Forum.  As for the sound in games I used to have issues like that with some other speakers.  Basically the video card was producing some EMI frequency just from its regular operation and my speakers were picking it up.  Getting new speakers fixed it because the new speakers had better shielding against EMI.  This may be your problem the first suggestion is a good one try it with a different video card.
    A good rule of thumb is to just keep some old 10 dollar video card laying around for testing in times like these.  I have some old 64meg quadro I use for just such times.

  • [Eclipse Problem] Selection does not contain a main type?

    well i am using a GUI builder software which generates java code, i made a simple one to test and it will not compile.
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class name  {
         @SuppressWarnings("unused")
         private void initComponents() {

              panel1.setLayout(new FlowLayout());
              label1.setText("Name:");
              label1.setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.LEFT);
              panel1.add(label1);
              textField1.setColumns(12);
              textField1.setText("hi");
              panel1.add(textField1);
         private JPanel panel1;
         private JLabel label1;
         private JTextField textField1;
    }it should make a basic swing GUI but it just gives me the error "Selection does not contain a main type"
    I did not select in eclipse "use public static void main" i know im not supposed to because this has no main method, but how am i to compile this? =X

  • DSM Terminator Problem in EP5 SP5???

    Hi,
    We are using EP5 sP5. when i logoff from portal DSM terminator window is asking for password. How can i resolve the issue?
    Regards
    Ravindra

    Hello,
    What happens is that you loged off before the actuall session has been terminated.
    What is happening is that there is a parameter missing in your user management registery.
    go to regedit>software>sapportal...>usermanagement>configuration>
    add the following parameter
    Extended ticket expiration= 5 seconds
    this should allow you to log off and not having to fill in the credentials again.

    Ok, forget it, my fault.
    I found the solution in
    http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/eclipse-dev/msg07351.ht ml
    It was enough to delete the launch configuration created with M3 and
    recreate it with M4.
