Ecoding FLV's for Psuedo Seek

I use Sony Vegas Pro to Edit video for release on the web. I render a mp4 and then used Adobe Encoder CS5.5 to convert the mp4 to a Flv for use in a flash player. I now need to have my Flv's be able to Psuedo Seek in the Flash player. I am not sure the setting to use in order to encode the FLV correctly. I have tried selecting the keyframe box , but this does not seem to work. What am I missing? Please Help.

I can't answer the question directly, but with 83% of the desktop and mobile market HTML5 capable, I'd suggest abandoning Flash altogether and go with H.264 and WebM.
And hell, even if you just can't entirely abandon a Flash fallback, you can still use MP4 in any decent Flash player. You don't need the outdated FLV.

So if I understand correctly, your findings are:
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Flash Media Interactive Server = Jerky Video
Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Flash Media Interactive Server = Smooth Video
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Wowza = Smooth Video
And what about Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Wowza?
Also, if you could check the network traffic to confirm if it's Flash Player causing the issue or it is receiving it like that from FMIS.

.FLV file for web

Hello, I need to export a .FLV file for web, I dont have access to compressor.
I would like to keep the file size small but keep a professional finish, how low can I go in terms of file size?
Any suggestions for dimensions, fps etc?

the file is a .mov
.mov is a container. The video inside could have been made with any one of a number of codecs.
768x576 is the current size.
That tells me it is most likely PAL, 25 fps. What was the source media? Could be any of the Beta formats, 3/4", D1, 1"C etc etc. More information is always a good thing.

Creating exe projector linked to flv file for cd rom

linked to and plays the flv video when you open the exe. These
files would then be burned to a cd rom.

Is it possible that you could advise me on the best settings
to have when playing an FLV back from CD-Rom, I have a similar
problem in that my FLVs playback ok on high-spec PCs/Macs, but when
I launch in on an old PC/Mac there are serious staggers in the
playback and some audio glitches.
If anyone has any advice on how to combat this I would be
very grateful.
THE BASICS
I am using flash to present 2 FLV files via a CD Rom.
THE ISSUE
The FLV files are quite large, 1x 40mb file and 1x 43mb file
(dimensions 1024x576). Playback on a high end PC with 2GB Ram is
great, no staggering in the playback. Testing this on a high-end
Mac too yeilds no performance issues with playback.
However, when the settings are reduced to a low-end PC/Mac,
there are glitches in the audio and staggering in the visual
playback as the lower spec machine tries to cope as best it can
with the Hi-Res video.
The flv files are externally loaded into a movie clip that is
designed for FLV playback using a buffer speed 0.1.
QUESTION:
Does anyone have any tips/ advice on the best way to resolve
the staggered playback, audio glitching.
The obvious routes ahead of me are;
Reduce the quality of the FLVs I am playing.
Reduce the dimensions of each FLV.
Cut the FLV into smaller pieces and link them together via
the movie clip loader (NOT sure how to do that though?)
Does anyone have any advice on my annoying problem?

Does anyone know where I can find a program to convert .flv files to AVIs or MPEGs? Freeware, preferably.

Wow, that's handy. I have another question for this, though...
I tried using it to convert .mkv files as well, and got weird results. The first time I did it, it converted just fine (the .avi file was half the size of the .mkv file, though)... but the second time, it dropped frames like nobody's business. What's going on?

On my old PC where I had XP I used 3vixvfw but now that importer seems to not exist and I cant seem to find an alternative that does the same thing..tried one off the same 3vix site which didnt do the job and i had to reinstall premiere etc PLease let me know if there is a tried and tested converter/importer/plug-in that will enable me to simply import flv files?!!

It would be good to also have an importer that gets dvd footage easily into premiere too, as currently im capturing using an avc converter and its less than ideal with no device control..if there are methods to overcome this Id be grateful to find-out as I remember in my last production company I was able to put dvd files through two programs/converter and skipped the capturing part?

Need advice/guidance on how to export .FLV videos for my website.

I am trying to embbed a .swf/.flv video into my website,
using dreamweaver and flash cs4. But when i do so, and i load the
video, the .FLV playback componet wont load or the browser dosent
even try to load the data at all, it just plays the video. So users
cant mute, have volum control, pause, stop or anything. Can someone
please help me? i looked all over the net for 2 days and cant find
a single turtorial or anything. I know alot of website use .FLV but
how? and how do you export it?

You need three parts for the flv playback: the swf, the flv,
and the video player skin swf. If you create the flv from your
Flash movie by importing the original video, Flash should make all
of those parts for you. Upload each of these files to your server
and the file should play as expected.
Can you describe in more detail what you are doing that may
be different?

CONVERTING FINAL PRODUCT TO FLV FORMAT FOR ZMAG DIGITAL MAGAZINE

I am trying to get my final product into a flv format to send to my bosses to use on our new zmag online digital magazine. I have no clue how to export or convert my final product in final cut pro 6.0.1 to this type of file. I am able to do wmv, mov, avi etc. Can someone help me and explain how I can get my video into flv format?

Smaller files typically equate to lower quality.
With that understanding, you'd lower the video and audio bit rates (trial & error) until you get the size file you want.
Consider Tony's suggestion of making a H.264 file and changing the file descriptor to .flv
H.264 is an excellent codec for internet distribution.

I read the live docs information about NetStream.onMetaData,
and this tells me that it is possible that I might get some
information about an audio codec, but it doesn't really help all
that much in learning if there is a way to tell if there is an
audio track present at all. Does such a possibility exist?

FLVPlayback.seek() fails for longer seek times

I'm loading an flv from an rtmp server, and I can't
successfully seek beyond 20s into the video. The AS is shown below.
The audio portion of the flv seems to advance just fine; the video
does not work properly. Any suggestions??!! Many thanks in advance.

Ah, well, the flv file is somehow corrupt. seek() seems to
work fine on any other flv I throw at it. I'll leave this inane
post in the event that some other poor sap encounters something
similar...

Playback FLV - AS for updating player automaticaly

Hi all, have some problems with my videos.. FLV files pling
directly into a SWF.. Some so not det the images but sound only.
is it the player version they have?
how can i add an update(automatic) with actionscript only.

You can't update only the ASVM(ActionScript Virtual Machine),
you have to upgrade the whole Player.
Look into "Flash Express Install". It's completely automatic
or silent, but it will ensure your viewers have the Player they
need to view content correctly.
