ECT software and labview link up

I am using an ECT sensor and pressure transducer on my lab rig. I want to start the recording at the same time. I am using the provided software for ECT recordings and Labview for the pressure sensor. Does anyone have experience of linking the two?
Thanks for any help offered!

OK ... maybe I'm clueless, but what is ECT?
But anyway, if you want to accurately sync recording between two separate software applications, then you probably want to somehow send a trigger from one to the other.
What software are you using for the ECT sensor?  Can it accept trigger inputs?

  • Inquiry of APT software and LabView Programming

    Hi,
I am new to LabView Programming. I am currently using LabView 8.6. As you can see in the attached files, I've written some codes to synchronize X and Y axes movement of two T-Cube DC Servo Controllers using LabView programming. I am now trying to plot some data of Move_Absolute_Position on XY Graph in LabView. After I've made some movement of motor positions, the graph only plot for the current position and erase the previous data. Is there a way to plot all data on the graph? If you could give some examples, I would appreciate it.
    Best Regards,

    There are no attached files.
To plot an xy history, easiest would be to use the "build xy graph express VI" and configure it not to erase data between calls. You get that express VI if you place the xy graph found in the express palette on the front panel.

  • Unity 3D and LabView

Has anyone here successfully managed to connect a LabView VI to an action initiated from within a Unity 3D developed virtual world (or game)?
I have been successful in transferring a signal from an Open Sim (think Second Life) 3D world to a LabView VI which in turns activates a robot motor.
But no luck replicating this in Unity.
Just trying my luck here :-)

It sounds like it is all about building correct interfaces between the third party software and LabVIEW.
To do that, you can look at the following link even though you may already have cheked it out.

  • Has anyone worked with NetSupport and Labview together?

    Hello,
I am looking for some info on NetSupport (remote desktop software) and LabVIEW together, we run a monitoring station using NetSupport to log into different locations and I have built programs for analyzing data after it has been transfered from the NetSupport login but was looking for some capabilities to integrate some functionality between the two programs, maybe even view the NetSupport login sessions via LabVIEW. is this possilbe and is it a good/bad idea.
    thanks

    Hi Jordan,
Actually I am trying to connect to a remote server to view and possibly transfer files similar to a remote desktop connection. Ideally I would have a program that would open .csv files and analyze the data, we have been using NetSupport to connect and then doing a file transfer then running an application (labview) to open the file and analyze, however It would be nice to do this without having to connect and then transfer the files and then running the app. Can I build an app that will be able to connect to remote servers and open the files? does this make sense or am I rambling\repeating myself
    Thanks in advance

  • Link between 3rd party software and SAP

Our company uses a 3rd party software for its payroll processing.  At the end of every 2 weeks, we receive an Excel file that the clerk sorts and uploads into SAP using LSMW.
The Director of Finance thinks that this process can be achieved much quicker/faster/more efficiently, and he wanted to know if we can directly establish a link between the 3rd party payroll software and SAP.
Any thoughts on how this can be established?  Do I have to write a BAPI functional specification for this and work with the ABAP team?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

    Hi Vijay,
Through BAPI / BDC / Idoc you can achive this requirement.

  • Corrupt Blackberry Link Software and cannot re-install, Error 1500

I have been happily using my Q10 and the Blackberry link software for about 6 months.  A couple of weeks ago I installed ACT and suspect that is the cause of my problems.
the first issue I experienced was a black box appearing every minute saying "There was an error deleting C:\ProgramData\Research In Motion\Tunnel Manager\rimtun-2013-07-11-07-29-47.2388.bugz".    I found this link http://glennmatthys.wordpress.com/2013/07/11/the-mysterious-black-box-that-popped-up-every-minute/   Went to preferences and unticked the box that said "Open blackberry link when you loginto your computer"  That solved the black box problem and I assumed that I would be able to connect my phone to computer once a week and sync - that would be fine.
However now I cannot sync or retrieve photos from my blackberry.  The PC makes a noise to recognise a USB connection however the blackberry link software says the phone is disconnected and I can't navigated to it in windows explorer.
My next thought was to go through installer and repair or uninstall.  I am unable to do either with the Blackberry Link software and I receive the Error 1500. Another installation is process.  I followed several instructions to resolve this issue with no success including the instructions on  http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do;jsessionid=765854E20F189D1FCF9918BEB9148E99?...
Other people with this error 1500 say they are unable to uninstall any software.  I have been able to uninstall a few programs I don't use without any problem so I don't think this is the issue.

  • Difference between diadem and LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit

I want to expand LabVIEW's reporting capabilities.  Can someone tell me what the difference is between DIAdem and the LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office.

    Hello Mr Bean,
There are several major differences between the two solutions. I'll try and outline them as good as I can ...
The biggest different is that LabVIEW and its toolkits are programming tools and DIAdem is a ready to run application.
The LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit basically provides an extensive library of VIs that allow you to connect LabVIEW to the MS Office library and create and edit reports in Word and Excel.
DIAdem is a stand alone application that was designed to post-process data from various sources. The tools included in DIAdem are:
    1. NAVIGATOR: Allows you to import data from files (ASCII, binary, Excel, etc.) as well as DataBases (SQL/ODBC, Citadel, ASAM, etc.). The unique DataPlugin technology available within DIAdem allows you to import vitually and data file by creating a DataPlugin that describes the data format and gets linked to DIAdem. More information at: http://www.ni.com/diadem/dataplugins.htm
    2. VIEW: Graphical and Numerical data inspection tool. Use cursors to zoom and scroll through your data, edit your data graphically and numerically and compare different tests.
    3. ANALYSIS: DIAdem has a wide range of analysis functions, ranging from simple functions like integration and differentiation to FFTs, Order analysis and 3D data analysis.
    4. REPORT: The DIAdem REPORT tool allows you to create reusable report layouts that can contain multiple axis systems (2D, 3D and polar plots) as well as tables (2D and 3D) and variables. The REPORT tool generates templates that can be usedwith multiple data sets due to the inclusion of automatic (or manula if required) scaling as well as extensive use of variables for annotations. Finished reports can be exported to printers, graphics files, the Windows Clipboard, HTML pages and PDF files (PDF writing is build into DIAdem, no extra software required). Using Scripts, it is also possible to create Word, Excel or Powerpoint reports from DIAdem automatically.
    5. SCRIPT: The DIAdem scripting tools allows users to record macros or write scripts that automate complete sequences, for the import of data, via extensive analysis, to creating a publication ready report. Scripts can make reports "intelligent" by modifying the appearance of a report based on the data or calculation results that are going to be displayed in the report.
I recommend you check out the following link for more information: http://www.ni.com/diadem/
DIAdem is an extremly powerful tool for report generation. I am leaving to go on a business trip to Asia, but I would be more than happy to give you an Web presentation on DIAdem after I have returned. We could use your data and create a DIAdem report Script together online. My Email address is [email protected] and I will be back the week of Thanksgiving.

I have developed one application software using Labview 8.5 in which i am collecting data from 5 temprature controllers on serial line.
This software is done and successfully installed on customer side.
Now the customer want this software to be run on server and some fixed number of clients should access this with some login security.
Is this fascility available with National Instruments in which i can installed this standalone application in server and allow some clients to access this with
    proper login?
    Regards,
    Vaibhav

Yes, that is possible. Multiple clients can access the VI using Web Publishing tool and control the VI operation. However, only one client has the control of the VI at one instance. The client needs to right click on the web page displaying the front panel of the running VI and ask for control and then release control after the execution to let other clients to ask for the control subsequently. The LabVIEW VI needs to be running upon the server computer since closing LabVIEW also closes the Web Publishing server and disconnects the currently connected clients.
    Please check this link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3797
You might want to create a stand alone executable for the same and then publish it over the internet for access by your desired clients. In that case, check this link http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3A0087DBE9D31F9286256B19000A2DAE?OpenDocument

  • Linear actuator, motor controller and labview. Establishing connection.

    Overiew:

    Problem:
Establishing connection between the motor controller and labview.
What I have done so far:
I installed drivers to the motor controller and windows detects it. NI MAX detects my motor controller (pic attached), but for some reason, when i try to access it through daq assistant in labview it doesnt see it. I also tried accessing it through VISA with no results..

You have a few things you need to look into:
When you installed the software, did it install a USB > Virtual Com Port dll such as FTDIchip or similar? If so, when you hook up your device, it'll reveal itself as a normal (new) Com Port in Device Manager. You then need to try to talk to that com port.
If you are trying to use the native USB on the board (as MAX has detected for you), then you'll need to use the .NET framework code provided by the manufacturer (probably written in C#), and make your own Constructors in LabVIEW. If you've never done this, it isn't trivial.
I would call the manufacturer and just tell them what you are trying to do. They've probably dealt with LabVIEW before, and may have an example to get you started.
edit: For fun, I followed the link you provided (which doesn't really work). I searched their site for "LabVIEW", and indeed got several hits. This one thing I downloaded (can't resist looking at code) was a gigantic turd ball. However, it did appear to use a normal Com port.

  • Tortoise SVN and LabVIEW linkage

I know that Tortoise subversion is not officially supported by NI but I also know that some of you are using it nevertheless to handle your source code control. We have started to use it about half a year ago and are in general happy to have it. The problem I actually have is that Labview is so picky about the linkage of the vis and I am trying to fix that with the Tortoise feature to "switch" a directory, i.e. make its content actually link to a different location. Let me explain:
We have organized our applications in projects of which we keep a development and release versions (trunk and tags in svn terminology). Apart from that structure we have an intermediate programming layer, i.e. code that is used by several of those applications, e.g. device drivers or a file structure handler. Those "tools" are usually developped/extended/bugfixed when working on one application or the other, while the other applications shall continue running with a stable version. In the end all applications shall benefit from the improved tool.
We have therefore two basically identically subdirectories "tools/trunk" and "tools/tags" which contain the development code and the stable code for the tools. It is no big problem for a single project to include tools from the trunk and the tags directory and you can see nicely in the "Files"-tab of the Labview project explorer which parts you are actually using. It is already tricky to exchange the trunk-version of a tool by its tags version once you have released the tool. Really bad is however that when I mix tools from the trunk and the tags directory in a labview project. Then it is possible that a tags VI calls a trunk-VI and gets linked to that path. This in turn causes linkage problems in other Labview-projects that are supposed to use only VIs from the tags directory. Can you still follow?
Anyhow, my fix is that I have introduced a third directory "tools/switch" which I switch with Tortoise to the tools/trunk or the tools/tags directory as a whole and all Vis and Labview-projects reference to that switch directory. In principle it would be possible to switch the subdirectories of tools/switch individually to the trunk and tags version but as Tortoise does not transparently indicate which folders are switched I easily loose track.
So what is your strategy to handle development and released versions of this intermediate code layer that shall be synchronized for several applications? How do achieve labview to link to a new location to include a new release version?
    Your suggestions are very welcome.
    Thanks,
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,
Sorry, if this reply seems like a products plug (which it is), but this is really how we solve this software engineering challenge at JKI...
At JKI, we create VI Packages (which are basically installers for LabVIEW instrument drivers and toolkits) of our reusable code (using the package building capabilities of VIPM Professional).  We keep a VI Package Configuration file (that includes a copy of the actual packages) in each of our project folders (and check it into source code control just as we do for all our project files).  We also use VIPM Enterprise to distribute new VI Packages over the network.
Also, as others have mentioned, we use the JKI TortoiseSVN Tool to make it easy to use TortoiseSVN directly from LabVIEW.
Please feel free to contact JKI if you have any specific questions about these products.
    Thanks,

  • Error involving Report Generation Toolkit and Labview Run Time Engine

Developed an application using LabVIEW 6.1 and LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office 1.0.1. From there, tried to build a shared application for use with the LabVIEW Run Time Engine. The Run Time version functions properly until "New Report.vi" is called and then an error is generated, code 7, calling out "Open VI Reference in New Report.vi" could not be found. When building the application, I did include the "NI Reports Support" in the advanced installer options. The machine used for original development and application build is running Windows XP Pro and Office XP. Any suggestions??

I am having the exact same problem but with LV 6.1 and M/S WORD 2000. It appears that the "New Report.vi" is trying to open "C:\APP.DIR\Word_Open.vi" and "C:\APP.Dir\Word_Open_Document.vi" by reference. The "OFFICE 2000.TXT" says that "_exclsub.llb and _wordsub.llb must be added as support files when building an application or a dynamic link library with the application builder." I added them as Support Files and I copied them to the "C:\TESTER\" where the TESTER.EXE is and I still get ERROR 7 in "NEW REPORT.VI" at VI OPEN REFERENCE.
Do I need to make a "C:\TESTER\DATA\" sub-dir and put the support files there?
I am building on MY COMPUTER on F: Drive on a network and transporting files to the real Tester.
    I displayed my App.Property of APP.DI
R at start up and it is C:\TESTER\ ! How would my application know that "Word_Open.vi" and "Word_Open_Document.vi" are actually inside the _wordsub.llb?
    Any ideas ?

I think there are third-party programs which will do that, but you can also do it with Automator:

The file or clipboard contents will be in Tab Separated vars, so you'll have to open with a spreadsheet program and save as Comma Separated Vars format.
