Edge 15: Unsual keyboard keys issue when typing

I have a thinkpad edge 15 and I have had it for several years now and sometimes if I press on "e" ,"3" "the volume buttons" I get a different resposne on my screen.For example,I would type "e" then I might get a "p" or it may effect the volume.I need to find a way to resolve this issue.This laptop has had water spilled on it and has been dropped,but has been in a laptop case and I think that might be the issue,but I would appricate it if you guys can give me tips on how to resolve this issue.Thanks!!

Im not sure if you have solved the issue you are having, but this happened because the connection on the end of the ribbon which connects the keyboard to the motherboard corrodes. We had about 20 laptops with this issue and solved them all by cleaning the end of the ribbon with a rubber.

When I am typing on my keyboard that came with my computer, it misses letters. I type on several other keyboards and they all work fine so I don't think it is my touch. Had this for 3 months now and Best Buy refuses to take care of the problem for me. Can anybody help me?

Missing key preview when typing characters in IPad After iOS7 upgrade

How can I enable the key preview when typing characters in Ipad?
After I upgraded my Ipad mini to IOS 7, the preview when hitting keys are not showing anymore.
Its so difficult especially when typing passwords wherein you wouldnt be able to know if you are hitting the right character.

Two things that might help. Reset all your settings and reset the phone. Use the Settings app to reset all settings. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that helps.
The update to iOS 7 added several new features and turned them all on. There are numerous suggestions for reducing battery life by turning off unneeded features. Go through Settings and turn off things you do not need or use. Especially look at Notifications, Push notices, Background App Refresh.

Revolve 810 G1 Keyboard skips characters when typing

Hi all, Just got a brand new HP Revolve 810 G1 tablet/laptop (12GB memory 256GB SDD). Things are otherwise smooth, but there is extremely annoying problem of keyboard dropping / skipping / losing some of the characters when typing. It appears randomly, not any specific keys or combos. Up till now in this post it has skipped about 10 characters. It doesn't require fast typing, even in the Win 8 start-menu, when searching for an app and then hitting enter to start the app, it might not react on the enter press. This is just an example, letters are missing from anywhere where I type. I type quite fast and know that I am hitting the correct keys. Disabling the touchpad does not help, so it is not that I would accidentally touching it during typing. I have updated BIOS, restored OS to factory state (HP Full Recovery), switching to English OS localization, installed all Windows Updates - no help. This makes working a pain, it's not feasible to chat or type document when you have to backspace all the time to fix the mistakes that you did not make. HP Support Assistant is not finding any more updates, product number is H5F12EA#AK8,WIn 8 Pro 64-bit. I have installed a 8GB SODIMM under the back cover, replacing the included 4GB chip. Will run a memtest overnight. Anybody seeing the same?? tonttuz

If you have adjusted the keyboard speed properties, updated the drivers, and done all the usual, thenIt could be keylogger malware - run a deep scan and make sure you are the only watching what you typeIt could be another program slowing down the system and interfering with your input - check the Task Manager and look for "hogs" -- programs that are running with a high cpu / network / disk consumption and stealing resources.It could be hardware - the system is new, but its construction may not be flawless -- Call HP=====================================================================================It could be that the drivers, though updated, are not being read from disk - instead they may be tangled in the memory and not being read properly. You might consider, without any grand hopes of success, applying a Forced Reset: Forced Reset flushes out the persistant boot-to-boot software and driver instructions from memory and forces the system to go back to the disk to read the software and drivers from the disk Operating System. Forced Power Reset Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset The Power Reset cannot tell the difference between drivers - it does not analyze a driver or software program before applying it. It assumes all the drivers and software on your computer belong there. This is a Driver Reset; this is NOT the Windows 8 Reset that installs the Operating System. This procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way. MBP Mid 2010 Keyboard Keys Issue

I have purchased a 10.6.3 disc from the Apple Store. I reinstalled my HDD BUT...when registering, that section, when I pressed the "S" or "D" key it typed "ds". When I pressed the "O" or "P" key it typed "op" and if I press the "Esc" key it typed "op". No this is so crazy. On a sticky note I pressd the "X" key and nothing typed but I heard a "tum tum" sound from the speaker - so weird!
There are also not working:
Airport
Ethernet
Backlight
I reinstalled my mbp because I was having issues with the hard drive so I have changed it. The next strange thing is I had to remove the isight cable from logic board because it was preventing the mac from booting up from hdd or dvd - more weird!
I have no warranty, not external keyboard and I only have the 10.6.3 installation disc. I doubt its an software issue. I dont mind replacing parts but Im not sure if the top case w/keyboard is gone or the logic board or both!

If you have the problem described in a MacBook pro 6,2, print out a copy of that article and take it with you to your Apple dealer. Ask them to run the SPECIAL diagnostic for this problem.

If it fails, they will repair your MacBook, possibly by sending it for repair at a regional depot. Make sure you have current backups before you go.
If it passes, you may have to find other workarounds, such as going back to 10.7.

HT201406 Keyboard covers text when typing

SInce updating to ios8, my keyboard covers the text when typing. It's so frustrating as u cannot see what you are typing. The keyboard is not split nor in the middle of the page. It's docked at the bottom. Help! iPad air

I just found a fix that works for us on both iPads. Found this in another discussion:
Try SettIngs>General>Keyboard>Split Keyboard> off. That made it possible to see what I'm typing.
I left predicative on.
I hope this works for anybody else who is experiencing the same issue.

Strange issue when typing a number in Lion

Hi,
I have a very rare issue when I type a number now and since I updated my system to Lion, no matter which program am I using, Safari, textedit, mail, etc. Every time I type a number (just one), it suddently erase itself, doesn't happen when I type more than one, it's very annoying and this didn't happen when I had Snow Leopard.
Any ideas?

Since the latest download the soft keyboard lags BAD when typing,especially if I' m in a browser and trying to reply to some post. It's lagging as I type this, though not as bad as usual. Most of the time it is effectively useless it drops so much.

Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

Huge latency / keyboard-response-time when typing in IDE

I am experiencing a huge latency when working with some IDE's text editors, and keyboard response time is annoying long, sometimes what I have typed appears after a whole word is typed.
This happens in some IDE's which do some background parsing as I type,
hard drive led turns on before the text editor shows what I have typed which makes me suspect it has something to do with spin down (which yet doesn't make much sense)
any idea guys?

I don't know which IDE you are using, but one which huge IO on background parsing sounds for me like Intellij IDEA :-)
There was a bug with java 7 which makes the entire text editor really slow.

But this is fixed with the release 10.5.2 which was released this week. In this case you should install the update, otherwise no idea.
Maybe you should post which IDE's you are using so the people here must not guess to help you.

Keyboard - intermittent failures when typing Pavilion d4496t

Intel Dual Core
While typing, every fifth character or so would fail to type. Purchased a third party keyboard assuming that the error was with the HP keyboard.
Error is still apparent. (I've had to retype several times even in this short description.)
Any help would be appreciated. (I'm having a great HP week - tx1000 Laptop dying and now this keyboard issue.)

I think that your palm area might be touching the touchpad when you are typing faster and that might be making the cursor to jump from one place to the other. Can you please try disabling the touchpad and try typing faster and see whether the issue happens or not? This is not a solution but just to understand what is causing this issue. It definitely does not look like a software or a hardware issue to me with the information you have given.
You can disable the touchpad by double tapping the top left corner of it.

Keyboard viewer crash when typing on it

hi all,
my new macbook pro 13" is having a problem when i try to type in arabic language or even in english in keyboard viewer it crashes and gives me a blue screen with closing every other application.
i have tested it with other user name and did not happen so something wrong i've done that had lead to this and i'm not very good at mac as im new to mac.
Can anyone know what has happen to it.

This means you probably have a bad .plist in Home/Library/Preferences. Trash the one with KeyboardViewer in its name.

My keyboard adds letters when typing

Help, when i type, my keyboard adds letters intermittetly. Support thinks its interference but it does it all over house.
This is a replacement ipad2 and old one didnt do it.

try doing these steps
-power off and on
-hard reset (power button +home button in tell you get a apple logo or thirty seconds)
-then double tap the home button and clear multi tasking
- if none of that works back up your information to your computer through itunes and restore the device as new

Keypad issue when typing

Hi.
I'm having keypad issues with my Blackberry Curve 3G. It has been fine all day but since about 5pm, when I press the green 'call' button, it has been bringing up the letters 'jk'. It also does the same thing when I type 'f', 'j', 'k' and use the caps button. Last time a software update fixed this, however I am now using the latest OS.
My daughter got hold of it earlier and had one corner of it in her mouth. Could this be the issue? Will it rectify itself once dried out?

Apple key + ESC when typing

Hi All,
Something a chap in Tunisia told me about that I did not know.
Type part of a word in a text chat.
Then use the Apple Key + ESC at the same time.
This then lists words that start with those letters.
Different to Apple + ; or Apple + Shift + ; (to get Apple + gto get regular spelling window up.
I would guess this is a keystroke that I have not come across elsewhere.

"Sticky" keys on apple's wireless keyboard when typing on my ipad.

I am using apple's wireless keyboard on my ipad. It has worked fine for four months but then last night the keys got "sticky", typing any letter I'm hitting continually until I hit escape. Does anyone know how to set it back to normal typing?
The on screen keyboard works fine (I'm using it now), but when i switch to the wireless this happens:
I cannnnn't't't tttttyppeeeeeeee noormallyyyyyyy...............
I tried changing batteries but that didn't help either. Would really appreciate comments/help!!

Do you have a computer with Bluetooth that you can test the keyboard with?
Have you tried going into Settings on the iPad and under Bluetooth tried forgetting the device? You should see the keyboard listed as a device. Pressing the arrow in the blue circle should present an option to forget the device.
